Sometimes, rescue happens at exactly the right moment. Layla, a stray community cat, was recently trapped by Paws & Claws Animal Welfare Society as part of a Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program. The plan was simple: have her spayed, vaccinated, and safely return her to her outdoor home. But Layla had a surprise for everyone. Shortly after arriving at the veterinary clinic, she went into labor and gave birth to her kittens before her scheduled procedure. Instead of returning to life on the streets, Layla and her newborn babies were given the priceless opportunity to stay together in the safety of the clinic, where they could receive the care they desperately needed. Now, this little family is thriving. Layla has since been spayed and vaccinated, ensuring she will never have to endure another pregnancy while struggling to survive outdoors. Her kittens are growing stronger every day under the watchful care of the veterinary team. When they are old enough, each kitten will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and prepared for a bright future. Best of all, Layla and every one of her babies will be available for adoption, giving them the chance to experience something they may never have known before—a safe, loving home. Until then, they continue to need food, housing, veterinary care, and daily support while they grow and prepare for their forever families. Our life with Toshi began in the Summer of 2014. Toshi and her litter mates were rescued from a kill shelter in Central California and brought to San Francisco’s SPCA. She and her litter mates were estimated to be 5 months of age. Soon thereafter she was cleared for potential adoption. She quickly chose my husband as her person and came home with us the same evening he introduced me to her. Toshi needs to have a large tumor removed from one of her hind legs. Fortunately it has been a localized and slow growing tumor. She has been and remains to be otherwise healthy. She has continued her usual physical activities and remains super social. During the last couple of months the tumor has grown substantially and is now limiting her due to its size and weight. Surgery at SFAMC needed asap Toshi has a big personality and voice! As a social butterfly she finds it necessary to say hello to all who near her path. This is followed by requesting to play with new or known person(s). She is successful with many people willing to oblige with her requests to play. It’s rare to go for a walk without people being complimentary or bringing out their smiles. She’s always ready for any adventure The same week that we completed Toshi’s staging at SFAMC we were informed by our landlords that we were going to be served with a no fault eviction in order for them to move one of their relatives into our unit. It had been our home for 18 years and Toshi’s only home.

I rescued Duke when he was just a five-week-old puppy, saving him from a heartbreaking situation of severe abuse and neglect where he was left entirely alone day and night. Only one week after I finally convinced his previous owner to surrender him to me, Duke contracted parvovirus. He became so tragically ill that I could count every single rib bone on his fragile body, but he fought with everyth On June 16th, Duke was doing what he loves most—chasing a squirrel in our yard—when he suffered a horrific accident and popped his joint entirely out of its socket. I immediately took him to the vet and spent my entire remaining savings of $900 to get him stabilized and placed into a heavy medical splint. Rosco comes from a rough background and when I did get him, he had a very deep fear of people and hatred for people. He needs specialized care from his vet team anytime he goes in which unfortunately comes with a higher cost, he needs to be sedated before going in for everyones safety. He lives in a lovely home with his dog sister and gets along well with her. Rosco goes to State Road Animal Hospital. They know of his heart condition and his history with people. They are very good with him and they treat him like family. If he pushes back, they give him space and schedule another time for him to make it less stressful. He currently has a cauliflower ear and it needs to be drained and given antibiotics. Rosco is special because in the time I've had him, he's gone from a very aggressive dog who was terrified of people into a love bug with his family. He loves attention, he always curls up with me and I just can't imagine my life without him. Due to his heart condition, I don't have very long left with him, the vets gave him 6 months to a year left to live. I want to keep him comfortable and happy I've had a lot of issues with my job, I work with special needs kids but the job comes and goes depending on their needs. I also have another dog that I'm paying off the surgery for and this was an unexpected event

This sweet girl was found alone on the streets in severe pain, desperately needing help. Despite everything she had endured, Bianca remained incredibly friendly and affectionate, leading rescuers to believe she was once someone’s house cat before being abandoned to fend for herself. When Bianca was rushed to the emergency veterinarian, doctors discovered she was suffering from a prolapsed uterus — a painful and life-threatening condition that may have been caused by a traumatic birth or aggressive mating by an unneutered male cat. At only seven months old, Bianca should have been safe, loved, and protected — not fighting for her life on the streets. The veterinary team acted immediately, performing emergency surgery to remove Bianca’s uterus and save her life. She also underwent full bloodwork and remained hospitalized in the emergency clinic for 24 hours after surgery so doctors could closely monitor her recovery and manage her pain. Thanks to the quick actions of her rescuers and veterinary team, Bianca now has a chance at a new life. But emergency medical care comes at a significant cost, and her rescue urgently needs help covering the expenses of her lifesaving treatment. Despite her ordeal, Bianca continues to show nothing but love. She craves affection, leans into gentle pets, and purrs for the people helping her heal. Her resilience is truly incredible. Just a short time ago, she was alone on the streets, suffering in severe pain and fighting for her life. Today, she is safe, comfortable, and receiving the ongoing care she needs as she recovers from her surgery. While Bianca is out of the hospital, her medical journey is not quite over. She will continue to be closely monitored as she recovers from surgery, and her rescue is still working to cover the costs of her emergency treatment, hospitalization, diagnostics, medications, and follow-up care. Lux is a cherished indoor cat living in a loving home with his owner, Rob. He has experienced recurring urinary problems for several years and has received ongoing veterinary care. His condition now requires a cystotomy. Rob is dedicated to Lux's well-being but cannot afford the surgery without assistance. Lux has a history of recurrent urinary tract disease that has become increasingly difficult to manage despite medical treatment. Our veterinarians have determined that a cystotomy is the best option to improve his quality of life and address his ongoing condition. Lux is receiving care at Hannibal Veterinary Clinic in Hannibal, Missouri. Lux is an incredibly sweet, affectionate cat who loves being close to his family. Trixie's family did everything they could to keep her, but with other cats, young children, and a busy household, it quickly became clear that the transition was overwhelming for this gentle senior girl. Henry
Help Save Henry's Eye and Give Him the Future He Deserves

Henry appeared suddenly in the same area where another community cat had recently been found, a friendly black cat with a painful looking injury near his eye. At first, rescuers feared the worst. Henry disappeared for a while, and everyone worried they might never see him again. But on Friday morning, he finally came back. Gatos Borincoon was able to trap him and bring him to the vet that very same day. Because of the location and severity of the injury, there was real concern that Henry might lose his eye. Thankfully, his first veterinary exam brought some cautiously hopeful news: the injury appears to be an abscess above his eye that burst near his eyelid. He received injectable antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication to begin treating the infection and swelling, and he will need a follow up exam in two weeks to evaluate how his eye is healing and determine the next steps in his care. Henry has clearly had a difficult time surviving outdoors. His body is covered in multiple scratches, and his skin and coat show the toll that stray life has taken on him. He was treated with Revolution Plus to help address fleas, ticks, and other parasites, and his rescuers are hopeful that with proper care, his skin will heal and his beautiful black fur will begin to grow back. Gatos Borincoon focuses primarily on TNVR, but when an injured cat shows up in one of their colony caretakers’ areas, they do everything they can to help. Henry is exactly the kind of cat who needs that chance. Once he has recovered and had his recheck, the plan is to have him neutered, vaccinated, and brought into a foster home so he can eventually be adopted. Despite everything he has been through, Henry is incredibly sweet. He is friendly, gentle, and full of love. His rescuers believe that once his eye heals and his fur grows back, he will be a stunningly handsome cat, and more importantly, a wonderful companion for a very lucky person. Henry’s care is just beginning. He still needs his follow up exam, continued treatment for his eye injury, parasite prevention, neuter surgery, vaccines, and foster care before he can be ready for adoption. We are raising funds to help Gatos Borincoon cover the veterinary expenses of taking Henry into their rescue and giving him the care he needs to heal. For small rescues, fundraisers like this are a lifeline. Henry is doing better and recovering well! His abscess is starting to dry up, though there is still some slow drainage that needs continued care. He is being cleaned at least twice a day to keep him comfortable and help support his healing. While his photos may look concerning, his personality is shining through. He is happily demanding attention, asking for food, and showing everyone just how loving and affectionate he is. Despite everything he has been through, he continues to be a sweet and vocal boy who loves being around people. He has a veterinary checkup scheduled for Friday, where he will be evaluated and the next steps for his care will be determined. Six Tiny Dragons Survived Abandonment—Now They Need Your Help to Thrive

What should have been a safe place became the scene of a heartbreaking tragedy. Under the cover of darkness, someone abandoned nine tiny kittens outside the Bernies Buddies Rescue & Advocates building. They were left loose and defenseless, with no food, no shelter, and no protection from the dangers around them. By the time anyone realized they had been dumped there, it was already too late for three of the kittens. They were struck by cars and tragically lost their lives. The six surviving kittens were immediately brought to the veterinarian for urgent care. Already facing the trauma of abandonment and the loss of their siblings, these little ones were found to be battling multiple health issues. They tested positive for coccidia, were covered in ticks, and were suffering from a painful skin infection. To help them recover, they have begun treatment and are currently taking three different medications. Despite everything they have endured, these kittens are fighting hard. We named them Caraxes, Dreamfyre, Seasmoke, Sunfyre, Syrax, and Vhagar after the dragons of \_House of the Dragon\_ because they have already shown incredible strength and resilience. But even the bravest little dragons need help. Their medical journey is not over. Once they complete treatment, they will need recheck examinations and follow-up fecal testing to ensure the infection has been completely eliminated. After that, they will still need vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, and the ongoing veterinary care necessary to prepare them for loving forever homes. Bernies Buddies Rescue & Advocates stepped in when these kittens had nowhere else to turn, but caring for six sick kittens at once creates a significant financial burden. Your donation will help cover their medications, veterinary rechecks, diagnostic testing, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and continued care as they heal and grow. We are in the last week of their medications. We have started vaccines and deworming. Everyone is growing and learning to play and be kittens. Syrax and Dreamfyre's eye issues appear to be getting better with age. Caraxes also hurt his leg; however, the vet stated it was a soft tissue injury from playing too rough with his siblings, and he was given an injection. He is now acting normally with no issues. We can not wait to watch these sweethearts continue to grow.
