Wilby
Wilby is a 7-month-old Domestic Short Hair Cat in Marshall, TX, who needs $748 for Enucleation.

Aside from being a black cat. Wilby has a big strike against him, as you can see at once by comparing his eyes. He was brought in to Marshall Pet Adoption Center as a stray on March 31. He was found on the streets of Marshall, Texas, but he’s as sweet and affectionate as any house cat. His backstory is a mystery. We don’t know anything about Wilby’s life before he was brought to us by a kind person who found him on the streets. He’s so sweet and loving in spite of the pain he must be experiencing, it seems likely he had a home at one time. We’ve had no opportunity to see how he behaves with other animals, but he people are immediate friends. Black cats often get a raw deal. They’re the hardest to find adopters for, and they’re often the targets of cruelty. Superstitious people steer clear of them altogether. Wilby has the extra burden of an infected eye injury that causes him pain. We don’t know the origin of the injury, but we do know he deserves a good life in a loving home. The right eye needs what’s called enucleation, to remove the eye and rid this poor baby of pain and infection. He is a sweet and loving boy who will make someone a great companion, and we’d like to see this seven-month-old get that chance. Wilby’s surgery and post-op care will cost between $693 and $748. We’re a rescue supporting our city shelter, which has no budget for medical intervention. Our goal is to help create a live outcome for every adoptable pet, which Wilby most certainly is.
Katie
Katie is a 14-year-old American Shorthair Cat in Crystal Lake, IL, who needs $878 for Enucleation of Eye.

Katie came to me 12 years ago when one of my co-workers had to rehome her due to his son's heart condition and allergies. Living alone, she became my best friend, and loving companion. She recently received an injury to her eye, which quickly became infected requiring it's removal. As a disabled veteran I live on limited funds, and find myself needing assistance with the surgical expense Katie loves to cuddle, and to sleep in any random ray of sunshine. She's a big girl, and looks intimidating, but she really is just a purring lovebug. She loves to accompany me to visit friends, and is a good traveler as long as she doesn't have to stay in that "evil" carrier too long! She always seems to know when I need an extra snuggle, and of course knows when to ask for a head scratch. Katie loves to talk, and I often feel as if she knows exactly what I'm saying. Since we spend most of our time together, her quirky meows, and requests for snacks keep me smiling throughout the day. There are other cats in the house that we live in, and they all know that she is the Queen Bee! It makes me smile to see them defer to her as she passes through a room. Katie incurred an injury to her eye that quickly became so infected that the eye needed to be removed. I couldn't stand to see her like that, so despite not having the total funds we went to have the procedure done. They were kind enough to accept a deposit, and completed the removal safely and quickly. Being a disabled veteran on disability, my funds are very tight. I knew that I didn't have the money to have the procedure done, but also knew that I couldn't let Katie suffer. So now I'm reaching out to ask for help to cover the remainder of the bill.
Olive
Olive is a 13-year-old Boston in Seattle, WA, who needs $1,900 for Thyroidectemy.

13 years ago, Olive rescued me during my recovery from a traumatic event. I really didn’t know what I was getting into when my family gifted me a puppy. I do know that upon meeting her I was overcome with the desire to keep her safe and happy. Our relationship gave me the courage to heal. I want to return to her, the opportunity to persevere in the face of adversity. From the very beginning Olive was a ball dog. She loves to play fetch endlessly. I tried to get her into Frisbee but she was serious about the ball. We’ve explored trails up and down the coast from Southern California to Seattle Washington. We’ve enjoyed camping trips, combing the beaches of Humboldt and row boats on Lake Bon Temp. Olive has a great relationship with other dogs. When our roommate was a dog walker, Olive adapted the responsibility of mothering young dogs. She was particularly close with a Leonberger she raised from the time he was 4 months old. No matter how big he got, he always bowed down to Olive’s small stature and followed her lead. She would scold older dogs for playing too hard with the pups. Olive has recently been diagnosed with hypercalcemia due to an enlarged parathyroid gland. The only treatment is removal of the parathyroid. Without treatment her muscles will shrink, her bones will become thin and painful. If left untreated she will experience gastrointestinal problems, acute renal failure, coma, and death. Hypercalcemia is rarely the diagnosis for the symptoms Olive presents. It’s the type of surgery requires a board-certified surgeon and up to 3 days of hospitalization. Although I've taken on a second job, financially I'm falling short. Olive could use your help. Thank you

Agent is a 12-year-old Maltese in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $1,800 for Periocular Biopsy.

In 2012, I adopted a 1 year old maltese from Lange Foundation and it was the best decision I have ever made. He was rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation, had been adopted and returned to the foundation. They warned me he had bitten the previous owner and a volunteer but I saw a terrified, stressed little guy that just needed some patience and love. 11 years later and he's my ride or die! Agent went from not wanting me near him those first few months to always being by my side today. He goes everywhere with me - doing errands to moving across the country - always making friends along the way. I jokingly say, he is shaking hands and kissing babies! He knows how to work the room with his big brown eyes and black, button nose. Agent is a true character. He hops like a bunny when excited. More of a city guy, he prefers to walk on concrete rather than get his paws dirty. His favorite ball, and only toy he's ever played with, is bigger than his head. He plays hide & seek, barking until I come find him. He bumps me on the leg with his nose to say thank you. When I tell him to come, he takes 3 steps backward. Agent has a mass on his eye and over the course of 4 weeks it has grown and spread to his other eye. He has been examined by 5 vets, an Ophthalmologist, and had several diagnostic tests done. Now, he is having neurological symptoms. He needs to have a biopsy done on the mass and/or removal of it & see the neurologist. Not being able to work due to my own health issue and the $3000 spent on vet bills in the last 4 weeks has zapped my resources. Agent has always been there through hard times and I have to get him through this!

My name is Biscuit, I was rescued from the Human Society when I was 10 weeks old by my forever family of 4. When I was about 2 my human brother asked my mom if she could watch his friends dog Panda for 3 weeks. Two years later we welcomed Panda into our home as my brother. I love all people and animals. When I see a human I think they are here to pet my tummy and the dogs are to play with me. Some of my favorite things to do are taking a walk in the woods, smelling the flowers, meeting the people and their dogs on the way. I enjoy doing tricks with my mom, like sit, high five, left and right turn. My favorite spot in my yard is the kids swing set. I climb the ladder and sit on the platform where I can see who’s outside in the other yards. I don't bark at anyone or the other dogs. Panda and I run around the backyard playing chase, and tug a war. We enjoy cuddling together. We sleep with the humans when we want or by ourselves on our big dog bed; at night we make the rounds and visit everyone. In the morning, we wake up each member of the family with hugs and kisses. When one of my humans is sad I stay with them, and put my head on lap. Mom says I have angle wings on my back For the past 2 months I have tried medicines, which some made me sick. I am only allowed to go out to pee on a leash then back in to rest. The x-rays showed that I have a cranial cruciate ligament injury (in humans its equivalent to an ACL). I need this fixed so I can walk on all fours again. VCA Veterinary Specialists (Dr. Giangarra) will do the surgery for $5,910.40-$7,388.00. Then its PT. My dad gave up having his own surgery. We don't have a working oven. Mom and Panda both suffer from anxiety. Mom is worrying so much she has had panic attacks and sever migraines where she can't function. Helping me would be helping my whole family. Thank you for your help.
Benjamin

Benjamin joined The Sanctuary at NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue when he was just three years old, and quickly became an excellent meet and greet dog who enjoyed doing therapy work with humans. No matter where he went, he had a kind and sensitive way that helped humans relax. He was always ready to show others just how amazing Greyhounds could be. Goofy at times, playful at other times, Benjamin often doesn't realize his large size. He's known for trying to squeeze himself into a beagle-sized dog bed. True to his greyhound breed, Benjamin sleeps a lot, too. He sings along when the hounds start "roo-ing" and is always interested in the "goings-on" at The Sanctuary. Benjamin developed many health issues, including a severe heart murmur, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. He stopped working events and was more comfortable staying in the house and keeping his caretakers' company. About a year after his initial illness, Benjamin developed a bulging disc in his neck that causes pain from time to time. Medications and diet have helped. Now Benjamin is fighting a new medical battle, and he needs your kindness. He’s developed an inoperable, benign tumor on his right elbow. It’s growing quickly and has been causing pain and lameness. We need to take an x-ray to see if the tumor is affecting his underlying bone. Dr. Tom Zulandt, owner of Madison Vet Hospital is treating Benjamin. We provide lifetime care for animals with medical needs and rely solely on donations to pay for their vet bills. We have raised funds for Benjamin’s recent lab tests but need help with getting donations for x-rays. Please help if you can. Thanks!!
Oliver Wendell Holmes - (Oli)

In August 2018 I went to a local pet rescue just to go pet kittens! When I got to the shelter, all the kittens came over to play for a few minutes. Then one kitten jumped on my lap & would not move. I said to myself I’ll come back in a couple of days and if he still does that, then he has to come home with me. I came back, and the kitten jumped on my lap again & refused to move. He picked me! We have a total of seven pets in the house, three dogs and four cats and Oliver gets along well with everyone. His favorite, however, is another cat named Blossom, who is also a rescue who I found in my flower bed a few days after I adopted Oliver they love to snuggle and groom each other, as well as run around the house in the middle of the night. Oliver also loves to snuggle and groom our dogs. One of my favorite things about Oliver is how he and blossom love to play with little pom-poms that they carry around in the middle of the night meowing like they’ve captured a mouse. After he is done with that, he usually comes into my bed and sleep there all night and is there first thing in the morning laying on top of me with his 14 pounds, purring, and getting as close to my face as he can! Oliver was extremely healthy up until the morning of August 21, 2022 when he came into the bedroom and I saw he had a lump on his head. I thought he had been playing rough and went to the vet to check it out. Well it turned out to be a fibrosarcoma, and the amazing vets at PSVEC in Pittsburgh removed the tumor, but because of the location, he will need radiation treatment as well to try to beat this. I do not have any back up money to pay for Oliver’s treatment. I take care of 7 pets in all, but Oliver picked me and he means the world to me. He is always there for me and loves me unconditionally. I promised him I would always be there for him too.
Tilt

Tilt's life changed when some animal lovers spotted him at a local mall dragging his leg. The cat appeared to be in excruciating pain as he struggled to walk. They caught Tilt and rushed him to an emergency animal hospital. The staff discovered he had a dislocated pelvis. He was hit with such force that broken bone fragments scattered throughout his leg. When One by One Animal Advocates heard about Tilt, they immediately offered to help with his medical bills and surgery. "Tilt the cat has been through a lot, but thankfully the kind girl who trapped and rescued him discovered that he's very friendly and just needed a little love," Heather A. with One by One tells Waggle. "She is committed to giving him all the care and support he needs to gain confidence and thrive as an indoor pet. He will undergo leg amputation surgery and spend time resting in a crate due to the fractured pelvis." Now the nonprofit group is racing to help raise money for Tilt's care. Will you give so he can have a second chance? "Thanks to the kindness of strangers, this sweet little cat might still be wandering alone on the streets," Heather says. Smash

Thanks to the wonderful supporters of Smash's first campaign, he was able to reach his fundraising goal! However, he still needs a bit more help to cover the cost of his ACL surgery. Every little bit counts towards ensuring Smash can continue to wag his tail with excitement and love for many years to come! Smash, the adorable giant dog with a heart of gold, has been a loyal companion to the Pasco County 911 team. He has grown into a strong and dependable working dog despite being rescued at just five weeks old. He provides emotional support services to his human colleagues every week. Whether it's a difficult call or a stressful day, Smash is always there with a wagging tail and warm snuggles to offer comfort and solace. His gentle nature and calming presence have helped countless people cope with the challenges of their job. He also spends his days getting beat up by his Dachshund brothers and sisters and snuggling with his tripod kitten sister. But now, things have changed. A painful injury has left him unable to fulfill his duties and has really knocked him off his paws. He was recently diagnosed with an ACL tear in his right leg and surgery is needed to repair the ligament. "Smash is as gentle, docile, and loving as they come!" Gina at Pasco County Animal Services tells Waggle. "He is an educator in our community, by showing people that a “bully breed” can be the perfect (and not scary!) service dog."
