I had recently become widowed and was told, a pet would offer great comfort. Previously, thinking ownership would be a bother, I was offered a small, 6 week old, gray and white cat. Not sure if I could tolerate one, I consented. Boobs has been a most fluffy, gentle and graceful presence in my home. After COVID took my husband, it was difficult to enjoy my home. His absence was not expected and I was devastated. The house was so quiet and I didn't know how I would endure such grief. A fine friend and her children offered me a cat from a newly norn litter. I prepared for the worse but a very soft, sweet, animal awakened my very soul to "life" once again. Boobs is quite a unique animal because of her soft and friendly attitude. I think she has never met a stranger. As a matter of fact, she seems to fit my own character to a "t". With her cunning abilities and keen sense of awareness she nuzzles and always caresses me at the right time. Although we have only known one another briefly, I can sense an awareness of our mutual needs. I've been referred to our veterinarian by an organization called Widows Harvest. At this time, Boobs has no devastating health condition. She is approaching 6 months of age. I am told this would be the best time to have the spaying procedure. She is an indoor pet and shows interest in the outdoors daily. After Gary (spouse) died, I have consolidated and downsized every imaginable way possible. My income continues too be diminished by the rising costs of living. Adding cat food and kitty litter won't break the bank but this surgery might.
Ripley
Ripley is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier in Fort Collins, CO, who needs $1,800 for Dental Extraction and Oral Health Treatment.

Ripley came to me through adoption in 2014 in Boulder, CO after I saw she was surrendered to the shelter needing surgery on her eye. Because she had had a run in with a raccoon, she came home with me and into quaratine for a couple of weeks. I had never had a small dog before, and she instantly became my constant companion. She's been by my side ever since. Ripley is currently the only pet in our house, she's very comfortable being the center of attention but also rules the house at her leisure. She's affectionate with my partner, my family and any guests in the house. She loves her routine and the other pets and people we meet on our walks in the neighborhood. Only the squirrels in the yard suffer her wrath. Being so small doesn't stop Ripley from having a huge personality. As she gets older she has become accustomed to lots of relaxation time, but still gets daily zoomies and greets me after work with ethusiasm and tons of kisses, which are her go-to show of affection. She commands the comfy parts of the couch and has laid claim to every blanket in the house. Like a lot of small dogs Ripley came to me with not only a missing eye, but growing teeth problems. Several years ago she had a proceedure to extract most of her teeth, alleviating some gum problems. I knew the remaining teeth would need work eventually, but she recently slipped on a stair and had some trauma to her bottom jaw, knocking her canines loose, moving up the need for extraction. Funds for this procedure will take me an extrodinarily long time to afford. My partner and I work full time, but I'm unable to attain credit after a bankruptcy and a divorce, as well as losing an established job because of long Covid. My wages simply cannot keep up.
Sophie
Sophie is a 11-year-old Rescue Mix in Montpelier, VT, who needs $1,113 for Dental Extraction and Mass Removal.

I met Sophie at an adoption event hosted by Random Rescue at Petco. This was just before Christmas in 2014 a couple of months after my dog, Whisper, had died. I wasn't looking for another dog and I was in Petco to buy cat food. But there was a temporary pen set up full of dogs. I asked if I could climb in to visit with the dogs. Then, when I climbed out, Sophie jumped against the fence after me. Sophie is a wonderful friend. I spend as much time with her as possible. I used to take her hiking and walking more than I do now, but I spend a lot of time outside with her. She comes with me when I go cross country skiing and follows my tracks. She sleeps with me in my bed. The first few years I put her bed on my bed, now she climbs right in beside me under the covers. Sophie is gentle and lovely. She looks very cute in a pink tu tu. She love love loves food. She also likes to lie down on the grass in the sunshine. She doesn't really like to swim in the water, but she loves drinking cold water. She is especially cute when she is cuddled up in a blanket because she has the cutest snore. I once recorded her snore and they played it on BBC "soundscapes". Sophie needs a one-time surgery now that she is getting older. The surgery is to remove one or two diseased teeth and a large growth on the back of her rear hind leg. The vet suggested doing this so she would only have to go under anesthesia once to accomplish two surgeries. This is the first time she has had surgery. Throughout her life she has had allergies. She sneezes in my face alot. A cost of $1,600.00 is outside my cash flow. I also just had to have nearly $2,000 in car repairs and high oil costs this winter. It breaks my heart not knowing how much pain she is in. It would mean so much to me, my son and her dog "brother" Loofa if she feels better.
Uno
Uno is a 3-month-old Yorkipoo in Wausau, WI, who needs $2,000 for urgent liver surgery.

Uno started life in a puppy mill. He didn't even weigh one pound when the breeder dumped the pup because he had an issue with one of his back legs. Fetch Foster and Rescue saved Uno, who quickly went downhill. "He became unresponsive and needed to be rushed to the animal hospital," Angel S., with the rescue, tells Waggle. Tests revealed Uno also has a liver shunt which needs to be corrected with a CT scan and surgery to save his life. Now the rescue is racing to raise the money the nonprofit group needs for Uno's operation. "This little man has stolen the hearts of many," Angel says. "The veterinarians say they believe the surgery will give him a long, happy life. We want to thank you all for your generosity. We couldn't do what we do without you!"
Whisper
Whisper is a 6-year-old Staffordshire Terrier in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for Painful Prolapse.

Whisper can no longer urinate and is suffering from a severe vaginal prolapse. The condition is more common in young females of large and brachycephalic breeds. Her vagina has become displaced and requires urgent surgical attention to relieve her discomfort and ensure she stays healthy - as it can worsen if untreated over time. Whisper is a faithful companion to her adoring owner. But now, she is in pain, and it breaks her owner's heart to see her suffer as he searches for a way to ease her discomfort. Let's come together to help those who have served our country, both the dogs in need and their devoted owners. He loves people and his best friend, Brooklyn," Amanda G., with the rescue, tells Waggle. Recently Anthony started hissing at his food! Turns out his teeth were causing him terrible pain. Anthony must have decided it was his food's fault! "Anthony was diagnosed with stomatitis, a severe condition that causes inflammation and sores in his mouth," Amanda says. Now this poor cat needs surgery with a dental specialist. The procedure will cost thousands of dollars -- but it will ease his pain so he can have a happy life in the future -- where he doesn't get mad at his food! Pence
Pence is a six-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Jasper, FL, who needs $1,940 for cancer treatment.

Pence is only six years old and fighting cancer. It was a devastating diagnosis for his human family. "Our lives were turned upside down," Lore, Pence's human dad, tells Waggle. "The mass was removed, but it returned, and now he needs radiation and surgery. It runs quite a bit more than we can afford." Lore created this Waggle campaign hoping fellow animal lovers will give to help Pence get his life-saving treatment for soft tissue sarcoma. It would mean so much to keep their family together. "At just four weeks old, Pence wandered onto my porch and into our hearts," Lore says. "Abandoned, he adopted us and has been ours ever since. We are empty nesters, and he fills our home with joy and life."
STORMI
Stormi is a one-month-old Domestic Shorthair kitten in Staten island, NY, who needs $2,000 for emergency care.

A Staten Island Hope Rescue volunteer was walking through a city park with her husband and made a horrific discovery! "They heard faint little cries and came across these two tiny kittens in a shoe box, left in bushes in the park," Ivette D., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "Both were struggling and open-mouth breathing." The couple raced the kittens to the animal hospital. Despite their fast and heroic efforts, one of the kittens died en route to the ER. The other baby, Stormi, is now fighting for her life. "Stormi was rushed in, put on oxygen, and diagnosed with pneumonia," Ivette says. "She is still hospitalized, struggling to breathe." The rescue is ringing up an astronomic bill as Stormi remains in the ICU. "This baby deserves the chance to have a life," Ivette says. "I am crying as I write this. Sadly, we have people in this world who look at domestic animals as a nuisance and think dumping them in a park is OK." The rescue hopes you'll help them raise the money to pay Stormi's life-saving tab. "We have exceeded our budget and need financial support until she's breathing on her own, which will likely take a few more days to a week," Ivette says. Please give to help Stormi!

We adopted Argo from Nerdy Paws in February 2022. He was a birthday gift for my 12 yo who's only wish was to get his own dog. As a family we had adopted a lab/Shepard mix before the pandemic, Jack, who is my guardian and shadow. He loves and plays with the kids but will choose me over them anyday. Argo came to use with a healing leg fracture, but is so loving and cuddly and bonded with my son. Argo is a great nap buddy! Loves splooting anytime. Hunter of everyone's socks! While he does have his own bowl to eat meals from he prefers to make it a game every day. Sometimes he flips it over and eats off the ground, next meal he prefers to eat out of my hand, and some meals he eats off a snuffle mat. We go on 3-4 walks a day, visit a local field where he spends lots of time snorting & sniff Argo is a 50+ lb hound mix, long legs, long body, so gentle. Every time we come home, he trots up to us, gentle crawls up your front, puts his nose on you face, does lots of sniffing and snorting, and if we are lucky a kiss. He loves to think he almost got a bird on our walks! When we visit my parents, if he wants to get attention, he will steal a toy or glove and run outside waiting to be chased On 4/26/23 my dogs decided the trashcan was a suitable source for food. This is a new habit/behavior. They ended up eating grapes, half a chocolate doughnut, chicken bones, and wrappers. I reached out to our family Vet, the emergency Vet, and ASPCA poison control for treatments and they all recommended 48 hours in the ICU for IV fluid, labs &, observation. Today they have a follow up for lab work I am a single mom of 2 kids and 2 dogs. I've had the same job at a local hospital for 15 years and live in an apartment through a low income housing program. The total bill was $5K minimum estimate. With savings and friends $3K was paid for.
