Boomer

Even experienced animal rescuers who have seen it all still get sickened and shocked by gruesome, gut-wrenching cases. That's what happened when the crew at One By One Animal Advocates saw Boomer -- one of the worst cases of neglect they've ever seen. "The two-year-old pup was blind, confined to a cage, covered in fleas, and unable to eat for days. He could not even stand due to his malnourishment, and his body was twitching with tremors," says Heather A. with One By One Animal Advocates. Boomer weighed only weighed 20 pounds -- he should weigh 30 pounds more. "One look at him, and we knew he would die without emergency medical attention," Heather tells Waggle. "The vet and staff at the animal hospital tried to keep their emotions steady to provide objective care, but they felt sick and sad over his condition." The nonprofit group needs your help raising money for Boomer's life-saving care. He is hospitalized in critical condition and needs medications, bloodwork, IV fluids, and small specialized meals throughout the day. Everyone has hope with the proper treatment; Boomer will pull through. He even gave them a sign! "While discussing care options, he gave a little thump of his tail almost as if he were saying, 'I'll fight if you'll help me,'" Heather says. "We collectively agreed he deserves every chance we can give him." Please help Boomer keep up the fight for his life!
Oreo
Oreo is a 9-month-old Chihuahua mix in Mesquite, NV, who needs $266 for Cherry Eye Surgery.

Oreo was found wandering in the blm land. A friend seen her thrown out of a pick up truck and brought her to me. This little girl was only barely 8 weeks old. She weighed 3 pounds. Oreo would not have survived at all in the wild out here God was looking out for my little honey, that at that time my friend was out picking rocks. I welcomed this baby with open arms and a happy heart. My little Oreo sleeps in bed with me. She is a little snuggler. If I am not ready for bed then she snuggles up with cat that I also have. This cat adopted oreo as if it was her own baby. Oreo is a sweetheart. Now that she is a little older she chases the cat around the house and I keep telling her quit chasing your mama, then they play. My few friends all want to babysit her. I am there for her and she is there for me. Right now she is sitting on top of the kitchen table looking at me scouting out for any left over bits or pieces and a pro at washing a dish. I have a few chickens and some times they crawl out from under the fence and oreo patrols and chases them back in. She loves her puca pucas that's what I call her squeak toys always hidden under my pillow. Oreo has been diagnosed with a condition called cherry eye where a gland from an eyelid popped out and is now on the outside of her eye. She requires surgery to tuck it back in and stitch it closed. It has to be done. I am elderly by myself oreo and the cat are my family I love them dearly but I'm on a fixed income my friends and I have raised some money and oreo needs help
Miles

The traps are cruel, inhumane, and illegal in some states. Miles is the perfect example of why. This poor, sweet cat was spotted liming in pain with a large, rusted leg hold trap clamped around his front leg. He was scared; it was difficult for him to move, so he hid under a house. A rescuer trying to help Miles set a trap, placed it under the house, finally caught the cat, and contacted One by One Animal Advocates asking for help. "Miles must have been so terrified, confused, and in tremendous pain," Heather A., with One By One, tells Waggle. They raced Miles to the emergency animal hospital. Sadly, Miles's leg was crushed and could not be repaired. "To prevent further infection and give him immediate relief from pain, his leg needed to be amputated as soon as possible," Heather says. "We did not take a picture of his mangled leg because it was too gruesome." Now the nonprofit group is trying to pay the bill for his emergency surgery. They're hoping you'll give so Miles can have a fresh start and eventually be adopted to a loving family. "We can't imagine what he endured because of someone's negligence," Heather says. "Please consider contributing to his medical care. We are a small nonprofit that relies on support from generous people like you. Thank you!"
Dutchess

Dutchess is an 11-year-old purebred Weimaraner that was surrendered to Beacon of Hope Dog Rescue by a man who had her for about 1.5 years after his father passed away. She was neglectfully kept in a garage with little human interaction and was undernourished on intake at the rescue, weighing in at only 50 lbs. Currently, Dutchess is in foster care with a family in the Chesterfield, Virginia, area. Her foster parents are spoiling Dutchess constantly. They provide her with lots of love, toys, exercise, and much-needed medical care. She is a gentle girl who, now that she's in the right environment, is acting and feeling better every day. Dutchess loves to take long, quiet leashed walks around the neighborhood or on wooded trails. She enjoys spending time outdoors and meeting new friends along the way. She pays no attention to the cats in her foster home and gets along great with dogs. At the end of a long day, she curls up on the couch with her favorite humans, where she eagerly anticipates back scratches and cuddles. She is underweight, with skin issues, a UTI, ear infections in both ears, and dental problems that will require care as soon as possible. A full blood panel performed by her veterinarian came back with no additional concerns. Her foster family is carefully monitoring her diet so that she can put on weight. They are also faithfully administering medication to treat her UTI and skin condition. In 2022, Beacon of Hope encountered numerous unexpected expenses: a litter of 8 puppies; surgeries for a broken leg and bladder stone removal; dental extractions; and numerous treatments for heartworms, intestinal worms, UTI's, and ear infections. We need funding.

We adopted Tasha from a local rescue on June 7,2022. She was transported to Syracuse, NY from a kill shelter in Louisiana, where she was going to be euthanized 😔 we fell in love in love with her right away! She was extremely malnourished and emaciated. She has fought hard and come a long way! She is a huge part of our family and overcome so many obstacles! She is a huge part of our family. She truly is a family dog and loves us just as much as we love her! She currently lives with me and my father, who is a disabled military veteran. She has brought so much joy to our lives. She is soooo full of energy and loves to play! But she is also the biggest cuddle bug!! She loves to play outside in the sunshine or the snow! She also loves other animals. Tasha has such a big, sweet personality. She has to be around her people at all times! Wether to cuddle or play tug, to play chase or fetch outside, she just loves to play! She is very vocal and likes to “talk” to get your attention! When it’s times to rest, she has to squish right up next you, touching you at all times. She really fills our heart with so much love. Tasha was found dumped and abandoned on the streets of Louisiana. Transported to Syracuse, NY by Friends Forever Rescue. She has has a rough road. Since we adopted her 06/07/22 she has already has 2 UTIs with vaginal discharge and crystals in her urine. She has tried 2 antibiotics already. Sadly she is sick again and needs blood work to check her kidneys, for diabetes, a cbc, another urinalysis. I recently was taken out of work in August 2022 by my psychiatrist for extreme mental health issues. Prior to that, I worked many years in the medical field. My father is a disabled military veteran who is also an amputee. And Tasha really means the world to us!

I rescued our Ziggy in Nashville, TN when he was just 4 months old. I saw our sweet natured boy all snuggled up in the back & once he laid in my arms he didn't want to leave my side - we knew then it was meant to be. I still remember his bright brown eyes staring at me, so excited for his forever home. The four of us include Mom, Dad, Ziggy, and his baby brother Murphy and we now reside in MD. Our Ziggy boy was named after Ziggy Stardust but goes by many nicknames including: Zig Zag, Seal Pup, Our Speckled Cow & more. He loves spending time outside on the front porch or in the back yard as much as possible when he's not nuzzled up with his favorite sloth plush toy in his bed. He and his baby brother love playing tug of war whenever they can! Ziggy's favorite friends include Abby & Jerry and their beautiful pup, Ellie. He also loves both of our nieces, sisters, his mimi/nee nee, and papas. He also adores his auntie Kathy. He enjoys playing in the snow, playing in the sand more than the water at the beach, going for long hikes, hanging his head out of the window in the car, and snuggling up on the couch with us. We noticed him not quite acting like himself around Christmas. All of his lymph nodes were completely swollen/inflamed, so we went in for immediate testing. He has recently been diagnosed with Stage IV B Cell Lymphoma and began treatment with our incredible oncology team. The associated costs with his continued aggressive chemotherapy, diet and medication needs have hit our household by surprise as you can imagine. We appreciate any and all support in getting our baby boy back to his old self and giving him the best quality of life.

Hi my name is Donna, and Charlie came into my life when he was in the yard, I rent room, he was in the yard meowing for food and ever since then I fell in love with him and he's mine. He's a ferrel which means he's constantly outside. The neighbor said, he was born in the backyard and a log pile. When I first seen him he was age 3. Charlie is always outside he's a ferrel. I rent a room so he does not live in the house the owner of the house has three dogs and I'm very allergic to cats but I love this cat I like cats. He's very friendly for being a feral you know outside in the wild he lets us pick him up. That is recently he let us pick him up. This cat is special to me because he came into my life where I needed some type of friend that doesn't talk. When I come home he knows my car and he runs across the street or meets me when I go to work. When he was younger he's now 10 years old and 6 months when he was younger he would show off and run up the tree and run on the roof. And he's very vocal he has the cutest meow. He has the dental disease. He need his teeth removed and he was on medication, but that lasted 5 days. He is out of medicine. And starting to have trouble eating again. He was not eating or even drinking milke for a week or more. So at this moment he's off medication and the owner said she would call for a refill but she's really busy so she has not done that yet. I don't have $1,138 and I tried to apply for the veterinary credit card my credit is so bad I don't know what else to do and I don't want to put the cat to sleep. To me that's horrible.

Lhucian and 3 brothers were thrown out of a car window, in a grocery bag on a freezing January night. They were 3-4 weeks old. A friend found them. He is my first ever cat. A month earlier I had been given a serious medical diagnosis. He needed me as much as I needed him. His name means Bringer of Light. He has always been very healthy until about 3 months ago. From day 1 Lhu is my shadow. He sleeps curled up next to me and is always by my side. He is the alpha cat of my family. He is the oldest of 3 cats. He loves his Friskies treats and runs to the door every morning for a special treat. His carrot nail scratcher and catnip toys are his favorites. He is very much a "mama's boy". He adored his younger brother who we lost in July. Lhu is my heart. Him and his brother Ghalen gave me a reason to continue when I didn't physically think I could. They needed me. Lhu is very in tune with my physical health and would be so gentle around me and constantly stay next to me. His favorite spot is the front window and any sun puddle he can find. He loves giving me head bonks Lhu has been through so much the last 6 months. We suddenly lost his brother in July. Two months later he contracted ringworm from a kitten. During his dental cleaning it was found he has Stomatitis which means all his teeth need removed. My vet is amazing. She took 13 teeth so far. His recovery has not been smooth and he he still needs the remaining teeth removed and an ultrasound. On my own financially. Losing Ghalen, those expenses in July were $2,000. Treating 3 for ringworm was $600. The first of Lhu's treatment was $4,000 and the remaining will be minimum $2,000. It is just too much at one time. I am embarrassed but will do anything to help him.
