SKY

SKY is a 5 month old German Shepherd Dog in Salem, CT, who needs $5,000 for Fracture Supraglenoid Process of Left Scapula.

Salem, CT

Meet SKY when we got her she was 18 weeks old. She was the last one of the first litter and in a very short time has become a very important part of our lives. On June 14 I was looking to get insurance on SKY but with the many choices I decided to wait until later that day to buy it. My grand daughter came over that afternoon to play with SKY and SKY somehow ended up falling down a flight of stairs breaking a bone near the shoulder blade requiring a $5,000 surgery that including 2 screws and rubber bands. Sky was a quick learner taking only 1 day to chase and bring back her Frisbee and learning to give her paw in one day also. Until she gets surgery which I can't afford, she won't be doing any running around and not having the surgery will be very bad for her long term. She will be having surgery at Colchester Veterinary in Colchester, Ct and needs it done right away before it starts healing before the doctor can get everything aligned

A Tough Start, A Brave Heart: Domino's Fight Through Illness and Abandonment

Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.

We were asked to take Domino into our rescue after a social media post was made that his owners abandoned him in an apartment complex with no food or water and the landlord was only giving a couple days to find him a new home:( Domino has had one issue after another since coming into our care in November. First he had explosive diarrhea that took a few weeks to get under control. Then he developed an upper respiratory infection that turned into pneumonia. He was admitted to an ER vet and placed in oxygen and received IV fluids and antibiotics. Additional tests were done and came back for Bordetella, which is VERY in cats Domino was thrown outside when his owners were evicted from an apartment complex. Somehow Domino found his way back to the apartment (his sister is still missing:( The landlord put Domino back in the trashed apartment with no food or water and when we found him, he was eating garbage out of the garbage can:( Despite all this, he is the biggest love and just wants to be around people. We are a very small rescue and have already had so many medical emergencies with cats this year. We are there for these cats when they have been failed by people before us. Domino’s ER visit alone cost $3,241.05 which does not include his previous vet visits.

Garfield

Garfield is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Bolton, CT, who needs $2,000 for Front Leg Amputation.

Bolton, CT • Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.

Garfield came to Paws 4 Life on 5/25/24 with a terrible injury to his front leg where it was just dangling:( and he wouldn’t put any weight on it. He showed up at a feeding station for colony cats looking for food. We immediately took him to the vet for veterinary care. After Garfield was examined by the veterinarian, they determined he more than likely was hit by a car a fee weeks prior and as the injury was left untreated, it was becoming infected. Based on the vet’s recommendation, we made the decision to amputate Garfield’s leg. Although we have only had Garfield a short time, he is a very sweet cat. He was obviously someone’s cat at some point as all he wants is love from people. Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue helps animals that would be euthanized if we did not step in to help. We are a small non-profit organization and rely 100% on donations in order to help the animals in our care. We aren’t afraid to take on the animals that others turn away.

Silverfish

Silverfish is a 9-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog in Coventry , CT, who needs $2,000 for Hardware Removal Surgery.

Coventry, CT

Silverfish was rehomed by her original owner when she was 5 years old due to an allergy issue. She has been at her current home for over 4 years now and has been the perfect dog and a loving member of the family. She lives with cats, another dog, and various neighboring farm animals. Silverfish loves hanging out with her family at home, but gets so excited for hikes at the local forests. She enjoys chasing her little mutt brother around the yard and trying to catch him even though he's so much faster. Lately she has not been allowed to run as much as she'd like to, to prevent more injury to her leg. Silverfish is an incredibly well behaved dog. She never chases the cats, is gentle around the chickens, and loves to play tag with the other dog. Every time she stretches, she kneads with her front feet. While she's not supposed to be on the couch, sometimes we catch her on it curled up like a little donut! Silverfish's leg was badly broken at her old home. She had almost needed an amputation due to the break but the previous owner was able to get it surgically repaired. However, the hardware has been causing irritation lately and one of the plates has broken through her skin. The exposed plate is a risk for bone infection and will be removed at Colchester Veterinary Hospital. We have tried more conservative treatment to try and help Silverfish without surgery, however antibiotics did not fully cure the irritation and skin damage. The removal surgery will be much more expensive than expected, but will hopefully allow her to live normally again.

Snowbell

Snowbell is a 6-year-old Toy Maltese in Waterford , CT, who needs $600 for Dental Extractions.

Waterford, CT

I rescued Snowbell from a woman who was a coworker and couldn't provide her with the best home 🏡. We finally got our forever home in senior housing 8mos ago and we are very happy. She has meet lots of new doggie friends and looks forward to seeing them daily on our walks. Snowbell and I live together alone. She sleeps in bed with me and never gets up without me. She loves her chicken, sweet potato and cheese so I make her food most of the time. She is just my best friend. Snowbell was sent to me December 24 1998 from God knowing that I was going to need her support as my son took his life at 42 in February 1999 he was a corrections officer for 13years and unfortunately his mental health issues were too much to handle in this life. She makes me smile daily and I just want her to be pain-free. Niantic Animal Hospital has been the place she has received most of her care over the past years. Now she is getting treatment from Colchester Veterinarian Hospital and is scheduled for surgery December 5th 2023 I am a senior citizen and only have 25.00 in savings account. I only received 1200. Per month and I don't have any family able to help. I have found a organization that will pay 200 of the 800.00 needed. Snowbell is my whole world and I just want her to be pain-free.Thank u

Quincy

Quincy is an eight-year-old Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix in CT, who needs $2,000 for urgent leg surgery.

Groton, CT

When Quincy was seven years old, he finally found his forever home! That's when Karen M. adopted him from a rescue group. "We are his third home," Karen tells Waggle. "Quincy was a handful in the beginning. He wanted to play and go on outdoor adventures at three o'clock in the morning during his first few weeks with us. Being seniors, we thought rescuing an older dog would be best for a slower pace, laid-back lifestyle. Well, that wasn't Quincy's style at all. But it is all worked out now. He knows the routine; if we forget, he reminds us quickly." But Quincy, who loves to be on the go, recently sustained a tragic injury. He started limping and had a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in his knee. He needs surgery right away. His condition is gut-wrenching to Karen. She hates seeing Quincy in pain, and she and her husband can't afford his surgery. "We are senior citizens, living on fixed incomes, and of course, especially in these times, we find our budget very tight," Karen says. "We are humbled asking for help as it is not something we do lightly. We feel he deserves a full life to enjoy all his energy without limits." Please help Quincy get back on his feet again!
