Hank

Hank is a 5 year old American Staffordshire Terrier in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $6,000 for TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy).

Colorado Springs, CO

Our family was blessed with Hank in 2020 during the pandemic which became a blessing because we were available for the "new home, new life" stage, along with daily training, and love. We rescued Hank (visa-versa) from El Paso County Canine Rescue, and he has become an amazing addition to our family. Hank takes daily walks with Mom, Mountain hikes on weekends and sleeps in our bed! He's our baby! Hank is a powerful, highly active pup who suffered from Left cranial cruciate ligament disease, which was surgically repaired last year. Lindsay Peterson (Brooks), DVM, DACVS-SA, from Colorado Canine Orthopedics informed us that there was a high likelihood that his right side would need the same surgery, and they were correct. We cannot afford the surgery at this time, so we are asking for help. Hank is truly one of the kindest, most gentle friends anyone could ask for. He makes us laugh daily, cuddles on the couch and in bed, is wonderful with kids and other pets. he talks to us when he wants something, and we think we understand! He does several "tricks" and is very well trained. We've gone months missing his "zoomies" and his hikes/walks, and he seems somewhat depressed without them. We are down to one income, are still paying on his first surgery and have had no choice but to wait to fix his other leg. We hate that he takes pain medication daily. We feel it has gotten to the point of him suffering all day, every day, and badly want to get him right.

Freki

Freki is a 31 Month Old Mix-Breed in Colorado Springs, CO, Who Needs $2,000 for TPLO Surgery.

Colorado Springs, CO

Freki is a 31month old Mastwheiler. I got Freki when he was 6wks old. I rescued a dog that had been very abused, Hayzyl. She had bad anxiety which is why I got Freki. Hayzyl took to Freki right away and she hasn’t had anxiety since. In a way you could say Freki and I saved Hayzyls life and gave her the companionship she longed for. We also have another pup named Freya. My home is where they live I noticed Freki limping so I took him to my vet at Brown Vet. They referred me to Colorado Canine Orthopedics and the vet, Ashley Iodence, took exrays of Frekis back legs and he has torn CCL’s. He needs TPLO surgery on both legs. Freki is in pain. Without surgery he will live a life of pain and lose the ability to walk at a young age. With surgery he will live many more years pain free. Freki is one of the most amazing dogs I’ve ever had. He is so loving and full of life. He has saved my life in so many ways and impacted the life of so many others. When I lost my youngest son It was Freki that helped me pull through, got me out of bed each day.. I am a domestic abuse survivor because of Freki and no longer a victim. I literally wouldn’t be alive today if It wasn’t for Freki. I am currently not working due to injuries on my left arm that I had surgeries on. I have not regained full use of my left hand. Freki means the world to me. I literally would not be here today if It wasn’t for him. Please help me save his life as he did mine.

She’s always right by my side no matter what I’m doing. She loves to chase the bunnies in the yard and play with the squirrels even though they throw things at her lol Emma has needed an acl surgery for a few months now and her leg is just begging worse. The pain meds are just not doing it anymore. She need this surgery to just be a dog again

Ayla

Ayla is a 1.1 year old Great Pyrenees in Longmont, CO, who needs $2,000 for Total Hip Replacement.

Longmont, CO

I rescued Ayla from the Pyr Paws & Fluffy Tails Rescue in Oklahoma in May 2023. She is now a Colorado girl, just like her mama! She loves the snow and being outside, but she gets tired out easily. She lives her pet cat Apollo’s and her boy Kamren. She makes friends easily and is our biggest protector. Ayla was diagnosed with juvenile hip dysplasia during a routine vet visit. She was in more pain then we realized and after having sedated X-rays, we discovered that her hip bones hadn’t formed fully so her leg bones were hanging in place by muscle and tendons only. We were able to raise $7200 for her first surgery at Colorado Canine Orthopedics in Colorado Springs, CO. Ayla loves most other dogs and when she finds one that plays like her, it is so fun to watch. She has lots of friends and people are drawn to her. We going walks at McIntosh Lake which is near our apartment and she gets lots of attention from other dogs and all the people walking by. She lives to chase the rabbits and is very curious about the prairie dogs! Her love for the snow is the best! I left a very abusive boss/job unexpectedly and embarked on a new career in real estate before Ayla was diagnosed. The change in income and medical bills depleted my savings quickly and all my credit cards are now maxed out and in payment plans.

Brody

Brody is a 7 year old American Bulldog in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $2,000 for Cranial Cruciate Ligament Tears.

Colorado Springs, CO

I’ve had my Brody boy for the past seven years (his seventh birthday is officially in February). I was able to take him out of a very toxic environment and he has been such a different dog since then. I have one other dog of my own and she’s been the best sister to my boy. I’m grateful to have had this many years with him and will pray that I get to have many more! He truly is the sweetest. Brody has had some medical problems stemming back to when he was a puppy. Thankfully everything has been within my range to provide the care and financial means to continue to keep him fed well and the healthiest he can be. While playing, he had stepped down wrong when he landed from a jump and I knew something was off. An orthopedic specialist visit later to find out he’s got an ACL tear. Truly this dog has been the light of my life. He came into my life when I needed a companion the most and he’s never stopped. He makes everyday better and just wants to show his constant love and affection toward everyone he meets. I had just wiped out my emergency fund/savings to fix a medical situation with myself about two months ago. I’ve been working two jobs for the past six years and am doing everything I can to make ends meet and pay off debt. I’m doing everything I can to provide.

Soxxy is a 8 month old Chihuahua in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan and Pelvic Bone Plating Surgery.

Albuquerque, NM

About 6 monts ago we rescued Soxxy from a substance dependant individual outside a tavern. He had her in the side pocket of a duffle bag and she was depressed and extremely malnourished. We nursed her to a healthy, happy puppy. Our daughters and us fell in love with her and we decided to make her part of our family. She is so much a part of our life now that we cannot imagine life without her. Our beautiful tiny Soxxy was hit by a truck yesterday. She was seen by her veterinarian, Dr. Helper, at Northview Clinic in Albuquerque and they were amazing. Dr. Helper did x-rays and discovered she has a fractured pelvis. She has been referred to Colorado Canine Orthopedicss in Colorado Springs for a CT and bone plating surgery. All together we have paid $1500 and expect at least another $7000. Soxxy is a super intelligent, friendly, loving, and active dog. She is very compassionate and would not leave my husband's side after he had surgery. She loves her "babies", treats, and knows 6 tricks already. Soxxy has what we call the "zoomies" as she sppeds around the house. She keeps our 18 year old dog moving and healthy with her playfulness. We are in the process of moving and don't have a lot of fluidity in our finances right now. It would mean the world to us if we can get some financial assistance to make our baby a a healthy, happy, active, pain free, beautiful Soxxy again.

Belli Button

Belli Button is a 5-year-old Bloodhound in Quinter, KS, who needs $2,000 for TPLO, Extra Capsular Stabilization.

Quinter, KS

On the day we met Belli Button, I had come across a post that said "need homes today or will be put down." I hopped in the car and drove 2 hours to meet her at 10 o'clock at night. She was severely ill but I could not leave her there; she was the last puppy left and I knew that she was out of time. Belli Button went on to survive her malnutrition and tapeworm infestation with proper vet care. When my daughter was a year old we knew that she was special. She was brilliant, milestones ahead of where she should ever be, and was deeply empathetic. She experienced life in a way that made it difficult to cope with emotions and was severely effected by every experience and change with in her routine. I set out to find her a best friend to help her manage and absorb her stressors. Belli Button has slept with our daughter every night since, and rarely ever leaves her side. She's calm, sweet, and intuitive about my daughter's emotional and mental health. She has this perfect way of just sitting beside her when she's overwhelmed to wait for when her girl is ready for hugs, kisses, and support. Our daughter has been in a recurring spiral since the accident. My 6 year old daughter's co-captain was seriously injured in a serious accident. She was extremely lucky to have survived however her injuries were severe. She had minor pelvic fractures, a large open wound on her left hind leg, and would need to have her right hind leg amputated. She now requires a TPLO and knee stabilization to save her remaining hind leg and maintain any quality of life. Unexpected, serious major medical cost. $1,500 primary vet bill paid $6,000 specialty vet surgical bill $150 brace $700 wheelchair for recovery $500 medical supplies $750 travel expense

Nohea

Nohea is a 10-month-old Havapoo in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $2,000 for Distal Femoral Physeal Fracture Surgery.

Colorado Springs, CO

Hello, my name is Nohea which means lovely in Hawaiian. I'm not sure if I have any four-legged siblings, however, I met some pretty cool friends at the local pet store where my human family found me when I was just 2 months old. My forever home includes my dad, mom, two brothers and two sisters. I'd like to say that I'm everyone's favorite as I'm always greeted with hugs and belly rubs. My favorite things are learning new tricks, cuddling under my humans as we watch movies, sitting out on the deck and enjoying the warm sun in the afternoon, and stealing treats out of the cookie jar when mom isn't watching. When I need some "quiet time", you'll find me fast asleep in my kennel or on my bed near my family. I love playing hide and go seek with my sister and chasing my brother around the house until I wear myself out. My favorite toy is a stuffed turtle that squeaks when I carry it in my mouth. Mom says it's easy to find me when I'm playing with it. When I get myself into mischief and am getting a scolding, all I do is tilt my head and flash a crooked smile. It seems to do the trick each time! On Super Bowl Sunday we were coming returned home from picking up the pizzas. I still get car sick so I was super happy to be home. I was so excited that I jumped out of the truck and fell onto the icy driveway where I fractured my rear right femur growth plate. I was in so much pain that mom and sissy took me to see Dr. Whited at the Palmer Lake Veterinary Hospital. Our hearts are saddened to see our rambunctious and inquisitive baby girl to being in a lethargic state. With no emergency fund, the quote from Colorado Canine Orthopedics was an unexpected and sudden major expense for our family. Please help us get our baby healthy again.

Pueblo, CO

I had back surgery and my Siberian Husky became very sick and I had to make the hardest decision ever to stop her suffering when there was nothing that could be done for her. I was hurting emotionally from her loss. All of a sudden Gizmo so tiny at 5 weeks old was in a situation that she needed rescued from and I needed her as much as she needed me. We've been inseparable ever since. Gizmo is very special and spends her time sitting with me, putting smiles on everyone's faces. She sleeps right next to me, she has to be touching me or she is not happy and will move blankets or her brother out of her way. Gizmo came to me when she was 5 weeks old, she fit in the palm of my hand. Her first car ride she sat on my lap and has insisted since that day that she must ride on my lap. She does not like to go out in the rain, snow, or cold and will wait until she can't wait any longer. She keeps her brother Toby in line and tolerates her kitty brother Louie. She loves to play with her toys. I had surgery to remove a tumor and lymphnodes, and when I got home from surgery the animals were all really excited to see me. Gizmo went to jump on the couch and somehow she hit her knee on the side of the couch, yelped, and landed in the floor. She wouldn't put any weight on it. I called the vet and explained what happened and they set us up with an emergency visit. She tore her ACL. My husband and I are disabled and on a fixed income. The surgery she needs is more than we can afford. With what I'm going through with my health I need to know that she is healthy, happy, and not in pain anymore. She keeps me mobile.

Castle Rock, CO

A friend showed me a post that a cute golden retriever was in need of a home all the way out in Ohio a short 6 months ago. I then went through the adoption process and had her shipped out to my family and I after losing our late golden 5 long years ago. She has since become the light of our lives and has been my assistant for my in-home business. Remington is very food motivated and has learned a lot of commands in the short time we have had her. She spends a lot of time with my clients and I and has become a great "employee" for me! She absolutely adores people and believes everyone's purpose is to give her some lovin! Fun fact, she would rather sleep on someones chest rather than her own dog bed. Remi loves to chase the hose as I am watering my plants and yard. I have recently purchased dog "puzzles" that she cannot seem to get enough of. As the temperature has been dropping, she has displayed she will sniff out any and all pieces of ice and eats them as if they are "ice cream cones." Remi loves to chase around ping pong balls and golf balls but refuses to play fetch with tennis balls! She has been diagnosed with the worst case of hip dysplasia at a whopping 8 months old. The surgeon also mentioned it was the most displaced set of hips he has ever seen. At this time, our only option is to replace both hips in order for her to live a happy, healthy, "normal" dog life. The overall cost for a surgery like this is close to $7,200 per hip. I understand this is only for $2,000 but any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.

Coco

Coco is a 1-year-old Ragdoll Cat in Denver, CO, who needs $2,000 for Micro Total Hip Replacement.

Denver, CO

Coco and her brother Cheddar were born January 2021, she is the oldest and he is the youngest from a litter of 7. I got them when they were 12 weeks old. The plan had been to get one kitten but the breeder let me know how close the two were and I couldn't bear to separate them. We moved to Colorado from NYC in May for my new job which wiped out all our savings. Coco's injury developed in July. The plan had been to get one kitten, but the breeder let me know how close the two were and I couldn't bear to separate them. I also got a puppy at about the three of them grew up together, they're all 15-20lbs and play and snuggle constantly. I ended up raising hybrid species pets, the dog stalks like a cat and the cats wrestle like dogs. They're very much a bonded trio and I couldn't love more. I call Coco the queen of the trio. She is elegant, graceful, incredibly calm and so sweet. She likes to have her belly massaged. Yes you read that correctly, she wants you to spoon her and mash her fluffy belly like you're kneading dough. Coco is a serial bleeper, she has her tongue out for 5 minutes at least once a day. She has never scratched anyone, she is the chillest cat I've ever met. Coco suddenly started liming. The vet first prescribed a muscle relaxer. Her limp got worse and began to look like her entire back end was painful. X-ray confirmed she has capital femoral physeal fractures on both sides, which means both her hips are broken. She is on painkillers 24/7. The cause is that her growth plates formed improperly and the fractures were inevitable from regular activity. We moved in a hurry when I left a dangerous relationship. The move wiped me out financially, I just graduated and didn't start work until late September. Coco needs two hip replacements each costing 8k, 16k total. My salary isn't enough to get her out of pain anytime soon.

Boulder, CO

My girlfriend and I had been dating for only a year or so when her mom invited us down to Texas for a surprise. We arrive in the Lone Star State and I hardly get a chance to sit down before the most beautiful 6 week old Aussie is dropped into my unsuspecting lap. “Uh…. uhhh what do I do with it?” I quipped. Fast forward 5 years, and koda has embedded her sweet & stinky self into our hearts. We decided to adopt a kitten at the same time we got Koda as a puppy, and boy did that decision work wonders! She grew up alongside her brother Jon Snow, and has been the sweetest of hearts ever since. Truly unable to hurt a fly, Koda is compassionate, patient, and understanding of her feline siblings and life in general. Koda is too smart for her own good! Her eyes are as expressive if not more so than the avg human. You can feel the emotion she is feeling just from looking into her eyes. She’s the type of dog who waits by the water bowl to let her sister and brother drink first, but also the dog who can’t stand somebody else getting more attention than her. She has never felt hate, and is wise beyond her years <3 On May 16th, Koda and her dad Liam decided to go to their community garden / park and throw the ball, as they do everyday. Unfortunately this time, Koda chased the ball over a bush and landed her front right paw directly into a drainage ditch, causing a hyper extension injury that wouldn’t heal without a procedure called a partial carpal arthrodesis ($4000). Colorado Canine Ortho, Dr. Miller My girlfriend and I are struggling to put ourselves through higher education as it is, and this unpredictable injury has us financially in a scramble. Thor is a 2-year-old German Shepherd in Raton, NM, who needs $2,000 for Total Hip Replacement Surgery-Left hip.

Raton, NM

I had just moved my 83 yr. old mom here to New Mexico so I could take care of her as she was getting older. We found out 3 months later she had both brain and lung cancer, she died in January of 2020. I felt lost, I saw an ad for a 3 month old German Shepherd with kennel for 100 and I just felt like I needed this little guy. I went and picked him up and our furship began. He was immediately my heart. When I took him to the vet after I got him they told me after xrays of his hips he had dysplasia, but I thought I'd give him a good life. I thought it would be 7 years maybe down the road... it's not the case:(. He's not even 3 and in so much pain. I can't bear the thought of doing the alternative while he's so young. He loves everyone especially my roomates kitty "trouble" as you can see in the pics. He loves to play tug, play ball, and sniff anything out of hiding ( I swear he was a police dog in another life). He can find anything! He loves my son Anthony, who comes over and also plays ball with him. He loves plain hamburgers from McDonalds that he gets from my roomie. He's the funniest dog, lips curled So knowing he had dysplasia, we've been careful with him. The other day I heard him screaming (I had let him out to do his business). Rushed to the vet (bad news). Hip is way worse now, I'm not sure what he did, I didn't see. The screaming from him was unbearable. Anytime is hip can pop out. I'm terrified. Co Spgs Canine Orthopedics gave me an est. Mesa Vet in Raton, NM is his vet. This is the hard part. I'm on social security. I get 770.00 a month. I barely make ends meet. I'm 63 and need help with just getting him up the steps and in my car. He never begs for people or food and doesn't make messes in the house. He is a very good dog and we love him like a child. We loves all our dogs like our kids. Pooh gets along with all of our dogs. He likes to sit with us and watch TV. He would jump up to the TV when other dogs are on it. He loves his little stuffed squeaky toys and being with Mom and Dad. He's very much a Daddy's boy but he sure loves me too. He likes the mini milk bones but only the different flavored ones. Don't buy the box with only the one flavor because nobody will eat the them. I am on disability, my husband just started receiving his social security retirement money but also works when he can. We don't have a lot of extra money for vet bills. It would mean the world to have Pooh walking. November 6th Pooh ended up with a spinal injury which gave him total paralysis in his back end. He cannot use his back legs and we help him relieve his bladder. We took him to the ER and was referred to a neurosurgeon. He was diagnosed with a level 4 injury with 5 being the worst. They recommend spinal surgery to relieve the pressure on his spine with hopes of him being able to walk again. Pooh loves to make sure his feet are clean. He's got long beautiful white hair. As much as likes to be clean he would run from me when I'd breakout the grooming tools. He's very protective over our Mini Peke Sweetheart. He loves to be the center of attention and loves getting love. He will rub his head on your hand or swat your hand just to get some love.
