Marmalade

Marmalade is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Norwalk, CT, who needs $20,000 for Blood/Bone Marrow (Autoimmune) & Heart Disease.

Norwalk, CT

I adopted Marmalade when she was 5-6 months old in 2023. She turned 3 this February. She has a 2 yr old brother, Manito. They love each other a lot and miss each other when apart. Marmalade was named before I got her and I loved it because it suited her really well so I kept it! I turned to waggle because I'm seeking any help possible for Marmalade's medical bills and hospitalization stemming from FIP and now her ongoing autoimmune disorder and heart disease. She will continue to be on steroids and anti-platelet meds for the unforseeable future. All the testings, diagnostics, medications, hospitalizations, ongoing appointments and treatments etc are close to 30K and more. Marmalade is shy and wary butfriendly with everyone once she warms up to them. She loves playing with stringy toys, and cuddling with me on her terms. She's very demanding and vocal. She doesn't like the outside or car rides but will explore it from time to time with encouragement and treats. We have gone through alot together and have been each other's rock. I currently work multiple jobs while pursuing my license as a recent grad. I take care of my family abroad financially. My main job is at risk due to lack of government funding as I work for a non profit. My elderly mom's medical needs are adding to my financial strain.

Bandit

Bandit is a 2 year old Snowshoe in Stamford, CT, who needs $2,000 for Endoscopy with Foreign Body Removal.

Stamford, CT

I adopted Bandit from a rescue almost 2 years ago. He is a healthy boy. We live together in an apartment with his brother Boots. He has never had any major medical issues. Bandit is currently at Cornell University Vet Specialists. He swallowed a needle and thread I was using and will need a procedure to remove it. The bill is quoted at $6-7k. This is very costly for me and any help would be greatly appreciated. Bandit and his brother are always on playing. He’s a very cuddly boy. Unfortunately, he likes to chew on things that he shouldn’t but we love him anyway. I love my cats with all my heart. Boots can’t lose his brother. Several thousand dollars is a lot of money and I am looking for those would be interested in helping.

Akira

Akira is a 5-year-old Siberian Husky Dog in Bronx, NY, who needs $2,000 for Chylothorax Surgery.

Bronx, NY

Akira came into my life 3 months after I lost my Japanese Akita, "Akito," whom I had for 10 years. Akira is a rescue, but really, it turns out she rescued me. Akira is my emotional support in every which way. Last year, I lost my twin brother, which was very hard for me. Akira is what kept me going-- her love is unconditional and extremely comforting. I need her. Akira is the sweetest with everyone at home. She is very calm and affectionate. Sometimes she gets a little bossy with mom and yells at me for treats (see video attached). Akira is only 44 lbs and bullies her younger brother, lox, who is an 84 lbs Boxer. He is terrified of her for some reason, but it's the cutest thing because she gives him tough love. Together, they bark at strangers. What makes me laugh so much is her bossy behavior. She is the QUEEN and she knows it. She "yells" at me whenever she wants treats or cuddles. Her yelling sounds a lot like "Chubaca." It's really weird, and cute as well. Please see video. She's also very petite, yet she dominates her 84 lbs younger brother Lox. Akira was diagnosed 2 years ago with a very RARE condition known as Chylothorax. After a few trips to get her chest tapped, she finally started getting better, and miraculously, her symptoms disappeared. Recently; however, the fluid (chyle) returned aggressively, and we've had to get her chest tapped 3 times thus far in a very short matter of time. She needs a very expensive surgery to save her. I have been unemployed for a year, as it has been difficult to find work. Finally, I got a great job, but I literally just started working last week. If her symptoms would disappear for a bit, I could save some money for her surgery, but it's aggressive, so I can't wait.

Photo of Shadow

Shadow

Shadow is a 7-year-old Boxer/Labrador Mix in West Harrison, NY, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy CHOP protocol.

West Harrison, NY

Shadow came to me in 2014 when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He and I immediately took to one another. His sweet disposition, determination, and sense of independence were just some of the traits that make him exceptional. We traveled on a road trip 1100 miles to his now home in NY. The entire way he was by my side and thus came his name Shadow. Now he lives for playing outside. We are a one-person household, but Shadow and I visit nearby family members as much as possible. He is gentle with newborns, toddlers, and children; all of which have taken to him right away. He is loving and always manages to sneak in a kiss when you're not paying attention. He loves rolling around on his back in the hopes of acquiring belly rubs. He touches the hearts of everyone he meets. Financially, we are out of work due to the pandemic. Shadow has become a personal therapy dog over the last 7 years. He is young and full of life. He is sensitive to human emotion and alerts me to when I should take care of my mental health. Among other things, his companion Shadow was just diagnosed with gastrointestinal lymphoma. He was deemed a candidate for chemotherapy and has begun aggressive treatment. It is very early, however, he seems to be tolerating it well. He is currently being cared for by the Cornell University Veterinary Specialists Oncology team, where he receives treatment weekly and will for the next 24 weeks. Shadow has the ability to jump nearly 6 feet in the air! He prefers one side of the couch and will sit and wait (barking occasionally) until you move. He has an "indoor voice" in which he barks or makes a "Roo" noise. He has gained the nickname "RooRoo." He also loves to open baby gates (from both sides) unlatching the lock that is relatively complicated for a canine. He is exceptional.
