Gambit

Gambit is a 6 month old German Shepherd Dog in Mentor on the Lake, OH, who needs $2,000 for Orthopedic Surgery.

Mentor on the lake, OH

Gambit and his sister Echo have always been with me. I have their mom and dad as well, that had an accidental litter, despite my efforts to keep them apart during moms heat cycle. My belief is to not have them fixed until they hit hormonal maturity, and I didn't catch them before it happened this time. All of their brothers and sisters went to people who are close to me, so I still see them. Gambit has severe hip dysplasia in his right hip, and is close to popping out his left one if he doesn't get the surgery he needs. His regular vet is gateway animal clinic, and this is where his xrays and exam were done. Gambit is the sweetest puppy I've ever seen. He listens so well, so smart, so gentle and loving. He gets along with everyone and he's great with my young daughter and nephews. He just wants to be loved and be a normal puppy. Things have been going downhill the last year. It would mean the world to me to be able to get gambit the surgery he needs to live a pain free life. He deserves a normal life with his sisters and parents.

Dewey

Dewey is a 1-year-old Orange Tabby Cat in Cleveland, OH, who needs $1,023 for Amputation.

Cleveland, OH

Dewey was rescued from under my house when he was about 5 weeks old. My kids were outside playing and heard him crying because his tail was stuck. Once I saw him I, I knew he was home. He is honestly like one of my kids. He keeps everyone entertained from the kids to my mom. He is most important to my 3rd oldest son. He is the one who found him. He has some emotional issues so for him Dewey is moreso an emotional support animal. Dewey is more than a pet. He is family. There is never a dull moment when he is around. And no matter what he always makes you smile on even on your darkest days. Dewey has a broken shoulder that cannot be fixed with a splint. He has to have surgery to either repair or amputate it. I would love to repair it but it would be almost $7000 because it has to be done by a board certified surgeon and I would never be able to afford that. Roughly four weeks ago me and my 4th son suffered injuries. He broke his hand and I broke my ankle. Taking off time for appointments for both of us has caused me to miss a lot of work that was unpaid and it put an extreme financial strain on my sole income.

Photo of Nala

Nala

Nala is a 10-month-old Bombay Cat in Lakewood, OH, who needs $500 for Spay.

Lakewood, OH

A coworker of mine had asked around seeking homes for a few kittens. She met a lady who's cat recently gave birth, and she had planned on leaving the kittens in a box on the side of the road. Immediately I said I'd be glad to take one and give her a good loving home. Her name is Nala and I seriously cannot imagine my life without her. Nala is truly a wildcard. She loves to play, especially with her adopted siblings Doug & Dahlia. They have endless amounts of cat toys, Nala's favorite things to play with consists of hair ties, pens, q-tips and feathers. During the day, Nala can be found napping usually on the bed. At night, she likes to sleep in bed with me and my significant other under the covers. He is her favorite human. Nala truly loves us. Every day when coming home from work shes there to greet us at the door. She's very vocal and spoiled, always getting her way. Whenever she hears a kitchen drawer open she's there within 3 seconds, no matter where she is or what she's doing. When meeting new people, she's super shy but also curious. She'll allow you to pet her, but has to hiss at you while you do so. Nala needs her shots and also needs to get fixed. I would like to take her to get a general check up every so often for my peace of mind. I had a cat when I was younger who passed of a UTI (my first cat) and my biggest fear is it happening again. I really am trying to ensure she's healthy. I've been working endlessly for months trying to save money to take my baby to the vet. I was able to save a decent amount and then my job cut my hours forcing me to use my savings on things such as bills, rent, etc. It would truly mean every thing to take Nala to the vet.

Photo of Faye

Faye

Faye is a 3-year-old in Cleveland , OH, who needs $1,750 for Pain management and follow up care.

Cleveland, OH

Faye was gifted to me once I found out I was expecting. Her original owners had given her up at just 6 weeks old, and I’ve been caring for her since then. She’s been an amazing companion to me, always there to comfort me when I’m down and we have lots of fun playing together and learning new tricks. I’ve loved and cherished every second my baby Faye and I have gotten to spend together. Faye always loves to cuddle with me. She loves to rest her head on my belly or curl up right next to me when I’m laying on my side. Faye is loved by everyone she meets, and she makes sure to greet everyone with lots of kisses. She loves playing with other dogs and even cats. She loves belly rubs and training. Her favorite thing to do is run as fast as she can, staying by my side the whole time. Faye loves to follow me anywhere I go. Whether it’s to bed or to cook dinner, she always has me in her sight. She never fails to make me laugh when she does tricks without the command to get treats whenever she wants them. She loves learning new commands. She’s extremely intelligent and lovable. She wakes me up in the morning by kissing my face and laying her entire little body across my neck. Faye had fallen at least 12 feet onto solid concrete when she was playing outside in a fenced off area. As soon as I found her, I picked her up and rushed her to the nearest emergency vet. Medvet originally thought she had fractured her cervical vertebrae. However, after she went through an x-ray and seen the neurologist they were able to determine she has no brain damage and nothing is broken. On February 19, I decided something wasn’t right and decided to take a pregnancy test, both of which immediately came back positive. I’m now 3 months in to my pregnancy, and completely on my own. I’m doing everything I can to help Faye, but I’m only one person.

Photo of Yuna

Yuna

Yuna is a 2-year-old Long Hair Cat in Cleveland Heights, OH, who needs $590 for emergency spay surgery.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH

My pet came to me from a lineage of cats that have been in our family for over 20 years. She was born from a cat that we already had in our family. I helped raise the kittens and I kept Yuna from the litter. The others were rehomed and the mother was spayed. Yuna is an indoor longhair cat that lived her adolescent life with "Bagel" her as her companion. He can be seen in one of the photos. Yuna is a very "soft" and loving cat. She loves to lounge and can oftentimes be seen laying on her back. She has two different eye colors and this was the first thing that set her apart in the litter of kittens. As an adult, you can find her staring out into space, chasing reflective lights/shadows that no one else can see, and also lounging on anything with a soft, flat surface. I had been unemployed for about 4 months due to covid-19. I have proof of this. I was in the process of closing on my first home when this happened. Since then, I have only suffered more financial hardships. The home has a very expensive plumbing issue. We took Yuna through emergency at a 24/7 clinic because this situation happened (was noticed) something around 12am. I already had an idea as to what was going on somehow. I think that it took so long to notice the issue because Yuna had just had kittens the same day and what was her uterus looked like just another kitten being born. I noticed that this was something else and must be a prolapse. Yuna is very special as she can see things that no one else would notice right away, not even other cats. She runs around chasing reflections and because she has so much fur and isn't the most "athletic" cat, she has a hard time maneuvering once she picks up speed. She slides across the floor and loses control often (but never gets hurt from this). She also has meow that is more of a soft "beep."

Mabel

Mabel is a 15-year-old DSH in Euclid, OH, who needs $1,000 for possible blockage.

Euclid, OH

I wanted to complete my family 15 years ago. I had a one year old and a 4 month old kitten and Mabel the only girl was the one. The three got along wonderfully and then 2 years ago I lost both male cats due to health issues. I was devastated. Now I am going through the same with Mabel. I am completely heartbroken. She stopped eating 1 week ago. She moans when I press on her abdomen. She always slept on my chest from the moment on brought her home. She has cried daily since losing her 2 brothers two years ago. She loved when I would sit with her and stroke her. Now she seems to be in so much distress. She is so sweet and loving and she is all I have and I am all she has. I love Mabel. I all the sudden had to buy a car in June as the coolant in my 2006 car was leaking in to the head gasket. This completely wiped out my emergency fund. I am on SSDI with many chronic health issues. Mabel gives me such comfort dealing with my illness feeling so alone. She almost completely stopped eating 1 week ago. Her abdomen may be puffy it looks and she groans/moans when I touch it. I took her in January to Gateway Animal Clinic in Cleveland for yeast in her right ear. She was overweight then, but everything else was normal until now. I am devastated she is sick. I love how she began verbalizing with me more and and talking and purring. Sitting with her on my lap is so special and she loved her cat rubs. I would tell her all the the time I miss her brothers like she does. She loves when I talk to her. Sleeping together was so special because her brothers did not share this.
