Oliver

Oliver is a 8 Year Old American Shorthair in Beech Grove, IN, Who Needs $2,000 for Small Cell T Cell Gastrointestinal Lymphoma.

Beech Grove, IN

Oliver transformed from a scraggly feral that showed up on our patio in 2018 to a perfect lovey boy in January 2020. He lives fully indoors, enjoys playtime with his adopted siblings, and loves a good lap to sit on. We've never backed down from a medical challenge with him before, whether it stems from FIV or dental surgeries, but now we hope his cancer won't end us too. After lethargy, decreased appetite, and vomiting, Oliver needed an emergency vet trip to IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital. There, he was treated for a potential intestinal blockage; they didn't find one, but biopsy on tissue revealed he has small cell intestinal lymphoma. After everything else Oliver has gone through, his story doesn't deserve to end this way. He is a purrmachine, he loves a good lap, and stays with me through the good and bad. He loves playing with his adopted siblings but is always a gentle, loving soul. -I am disabled and contribute a fixed income to our household. -My car died. -Our central air needed replaced. Oliver has been one of the very few positives in my life since he decided to adopt me. I am devastated I cannot give him a better quality of life currently.

I need her. she is great for my mental health issues she is a great anxiety reliever and I really do love her and I want to keep her. Sky

Sky is a 8 year old Labrador Retriever in Fairland, IN, who needs $2,000 for Remove the TPLO Plate.

Fairland, IN

We rescued Sky at 4 weeks old from a friend who could not care for her. We have had Sky for over 8 years now. We have also rescued Annie, who is 9 years old. We named her Sky because her eyes will turn dark blue when she gets excited to play. We named Annie after me. They love to play and take walks in the park. Sky had TPLO surgery on her left knee, and the plate has become infected; the skin around it will open up, and she has to be on antibiotics for it to heal. This just keeps recurring over and over. She has to have the plate removed to get better. It is a one-time surgery, and it will take care of this issue. Sky loves her rescued sister, Annie. Sky loves to play ball and laser. She is very sassy and makes demands when it's time to go outside. I had spine surgery a few years ago, and she helped me go up and down the steps; she let me hold on to her so I would not fall. She looks after Annie. Sometimes, Annie gets afraid to go outside, and Sky will assure her its ok. We are on SS disability, and it is very hard to pay the basic bills. When things broke or needed to be replaced, I would use a credit card, even for the vet visits, because I had no other way to pay for it. Sky is my world. I want her to be healthy and out of pain.

Katniss is cool as heck she loves my family and we love her!!! She is the best cat I’ve ever had and she is super chill and loves belly rubs. She’s super smart and has learned tricks like sit, shake, and has almost nailed down roll over. She had a prolapse recently due to diarrhea. We had her checked and it turns out she has bladder stones that need to be removed for her to live a normal life. Katniss is the best cat ever anyone who meets her knows she is special. She doesn’t scratch she loves belly rubs and gets concerned if anyone seems sick. I don’t have kids but I have my kitty and she is the world to me. Just starting to get on top of things financially and I don’t want to have to choose between that and the life of my cat. It is not fair to have an animals life depend on that.

Hi! My name is Bri & if you know me, you already know my baby, Gunner! Gunner came into my life 3 years ago and ever since, we’ve been inseparable! He is 3 years, 4months old! He is the most charming, sweet, smart and loving husky you’ve ever met! He’s always been a born leader, includes every fur friend he meets and is one quick runner! Running and treats are this little dudes life(: Gunner has an older dog brother and 4 cat sisters/brother who he loves dearly and have helped raised him. He is the glue to our family, makes our home a HOME. The week of Christmas, we had the scariest day of our life when Gunner was rushed to the emergency vet with bloody stool and lethargy. A mass was found in his spleen and we were referred out for more tests. Since then, more masses have been found in his abdomen, chest, lungs and heart. He has fluid in his chest that’s making it hard for him to breathe, lymph nodes swollen to golfball size. after a biopsy, has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. I am at loss for words. This has all happened so quickly and my heart breaks more and more, the more results we get back! Gunner is being referred out to an oncologist for tests to determine what kind of lymphoma and what treatments are available. With him being so young, I hadn’t opted for pet insurance on him and I am absolutely devastated. I am asking everyone I love, everyone who loves gunner, who has been In this situation, that has witnessed gunners special heart, who has ANY extra cash to lend a hand. Trafalgar, IN

Loki was born in our home and moved in with his new family at 12 weeks old. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Loki came back home to us when he was 2 year old. We nursed him back to health and he became a bright light in our lives. He has a contagious joy that always brings a smile to your face. Loki lives in our home with his mother, Gretta and sister, Tala. We have 4 cats with whom he is infatuated with. We are quit certain he thinks the cats are his as he lovingly watches them. Loki loves to play fetch and be around his favorite humans. He also loves Jeep rides. If the top and doors are off, we know where we can find him! He also love to watch over our flock of chickens and ducks. Loki is a bundle of energy, but also has a calming presence about him. He tries to convince us to stay in bed just a little bit longer for belly rubs. He is so intelligent knowing all of his commands. He has had a serious case of the side-eye since he was a puppy and that just brings a smile to our faces. Loki is the definition of man's best friend. He always wants to be with his humans. On November 3rd, 2023, Loki did something he's never done before. He ventured into the road to investigate a worker in the neighbor's driveway. Unfortunately, Loki was hit by a vehicle. He suffered a severe open wound with a fracture and ligament tears in his right rear leg. We rushed loki to an emergency vet, he was taken back immediately. Loki was admitted overnight and will require more care We were quoted $5,500-7,500 for Loki's initial care and overnight stay. This does not include his ongoing care with a wound specialist or surgery as needed. I have been off work since 8.4.23 due to surgery and medical complications. This is a significant unplanned emergency.

My pet Oreo had just pasted after 17 years of being with me. I was really hurt couldn’t get out of bed or nothing. My daughter after a week brought me Canela. I at first told her no but quickly feel in love with her. I would not change anything she’s my baby. She grew on me so fast I took here everywhere with me. She really happy go luck I love her to death she awesome full of energy and as gentle as can be with me. I couldn’t love here anymore. I had a stroke and have fallen a couple of times and she helped me get back up. Walks real slow with me because I am having a hard time walking. Good with the kids and never plays rough at all. She had this thing with water it makes me laugh so hard omg I just love it. She attacks the water. It’s so very cute. I get up in the morning and ask her what she is talking about and she does the cute crying sound and then barks at me 2 times. I love when she snuggles puts her nose in the inner part of my arm. So canela is really strong and sometimes I can’t handle her since my stroke. I love her but she is hard to take care of at times. We have to put her out on a chain because she animal aggressive. She was pulling really hard and because of my stroke I couldn’t calm her down. She couldn’t breath when I got her to vet she was in respatory distress. The vet is already at 6000 and she needs to stay longer I paid 2000. They won’t even X-ray her. I am lost

He walks around the house just howling along with the music 🎼 it cracks me up! He is sooo happy & he knows he is spoiled & gets anything he wants! I took Kingston to dog training school as a puppy & he was perfect there but came home He Was The Boss! I’m asked what did I learn & I say the training taught me! LOL I noticed on 12/26/22 that his stomach looked big & feared of bloat. So at 3am I took him to the emergency hospital & X-rays we’re done & that’s where the mass was noticed. I had to save the money for the CT Scan which diagnosed it on his spleen & the next step will to have surgery to remove his spleen. I’m by myself & Kingston is my family. Kira is a 8-year-old Rottweiler in Kokomo, IN, who needs $2,000 for Right Front Leg Amputation.

Kokomo, IN

Hi. My name is Lisa and Kira, aka Care Bear, came into my life in 2019 when I adopted her from a breeder that was retiring her I fell in love immediately. She has an amazing heart and such a gentle soul. As soon as I picked her up at the airport I knew I made the right decision. She took to me right away as well. It's been bliss until her awful diagnosis. Kira loves everyone and every dog she meets. We have 2 other Rottweilers and a Pug. They are her sisters and brother. Kira is so loving which is how she got nicknamed Care Bear. She always wants to please you and is always ready to give kisses and hugs. She loves to cuddle and she love her food. Why is Kira Bear/Care bear special, because I LOVE her! She is my fur baby, my fur daughter. I love her like family. I've never known a sweeter dog, more loving dog. She has a big thick tail and you can always tell when Kira Bear is happy you hear thump thump thump on the floor, that's Kira wagging her tail on the floor. It makes me happy! I want my happy/healthy Care Bear back! Kira had a limp, so we took her to the vet thinking she injured herself. We got the worst news ever. She had Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). I was devastated! Her lungs and chest are clear so she is a great candidate for amputation! Yay, but it's very costly. Her surgery will be at IndyVet in Indianapolis, IN. Her surgeon is Dr. Rebecca Spivack. My husband lost his job Dec 2021. We had astronomical medical bills and used our Care Credit and with our current situation we do not qualify for loans. I can't put info words what it would be for Kira to get this surgery. It would be the greatest gift in the world.

MuMu is a 11-year-old Russian Blue Cat in Carmel, IN, who needs $1,800 for I-131 Radioiodine Treatment.

Carmel, IN

Our sweet MuMu was a rescue from a 90+ year old woman's estate when she passed away. She was a lap cat/companion for her. We received her when she was approximately 5 years old. MuMu had never been around children before, and it took some getting used to her new home environment which included myself and two children, then age 2 and 13. She came out of her shell and became the perfect pet. MuMu has been a very loving family member. She has comforted us during our trials and tribulations in life, during our sicknesses and surgeries and sad life moments. She has never waivered in her enduring love for us. She loves to sit outside the bathroom when my son showers, to meow at him when he comes out. She fills a missing void in our lives after losing my oldest son last year. MuMu loves to stay up late at night with me while I work from home on the overnight shift. She is often found at my feet, or on my desk as shown in the picture. She takes turns sleeping in both kids' beds, and is always on my bed first thing when I wake up every morning, waiting for her breakfast and to be the first downstairs. She first became sick in April. She had very high liver enzymes and was treated with antibiotics/steroids. Liver enzymes went up and down over the course of several months with an ultrasound not showing anything significant to cause the fluctuations. In August, Mumu took a drastic turn for the worse and stopped eating, ultimately testing positive for hyperthyroid, the driving cause of her symptoms Treatment to date has ran over $3500. She will be required to stay on meds every 12 hours for the rest of her life. Hyperthyroidism causes a shorter lifespan + cost to continuously monitor blood thyroid levels. Radioiodine treatment will cure her and give her her life back.

Cricket joined our family at 8 weeks old and has not left our sides since. She has become the biggest snuggle bug and will follow everyone around the house until we sit on the couch with her. She bounces around, which is how she got her name, and is always ready to work. She constantly asks to be held or for a hug and has even started to “talk” with buttons”. She’s our brilliant baby. Cricket immediately became best friends with one of our cats and all of our dogs, of which she is 1 of 4! She is the fastest and loves our new yard that has the space to run. She follows us around the house, always trying to walk as closely as possible. Her presence offers a sense of peace and safety. All of us are holding our breath until she can return home. Cricket loves all treats but her current favorite is freeze-dried minnows! She loves to jump in the pond during the hot summer months, especially after a long day of training. She works on- and off-leash and is often a demo dog for her dog trainer mama. When she gets excited, she “vibrates” from head to toe and she stares at you until you call her over to work or just some love. Cricket was spayed on April 21 but was not recovering how we expected. After vomiting and not eating, we took her to IndyVet, the closest emergency pet hospital, on May 1. There, she was diagnosed with a septic abdomen as a result of her spay surgery and required an exploratory laparotomy that lasted over 3 hours. No perforation was found and she has been in critical condition and hasn’t eaten. Her critical care requirements are increasing by the hour and we are struggling to figure out what to do. We want to give her all of the support she needs to recover but her prognosis is still only 50/50. She is so loved and none of us know what we’d do without her.

Jake

Jake is a 7-year-old Australian Cattle Dog Mix in Danville, IN, who needs $2,000 for Surgery to remove mast cell tumor/lymph node and spleen removal.

Danville, IN

I adopted Jake from the Indianapolis Animal Care and Control shelter in February of 2018. In the shelter his name was Banff, but I renamed him Jake. I remember a TV show in which one of the characters had a dog named Jake, and I thought if I ever got a male dog I would name him Jake! I have no other pets in my home. My guess is is that Jake likes it that way! Jake is my buddy and is very special. Jake sleeps in the bed with me, and he does a good job of taking up the whole bed! When we go on walks we either walk around the neighborhood or go to a local park. He is very food-motivated (like every dog) and will give convincing arguments as to why I should give him some of whatever I'm eating! He likes to stand on his hind legs to get to whatever may be on the kitchen counters. Jake likes the kind of toys that can be chewed up. I have to make sure he doesn't eat the pieces! He is also quite vocal and will not hesitate to bark when he's not happy about something. Jake is not afraid of storms or fireworks and he seems to love snow. He is quite the cuddler and I personally think he is one of the cutest dogs around! We just love to be with each other. Jake was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor recently that the veterinary oncologist suspects may have spread to his spleen. I was told by the oncologist (Dr. Hillman) at IndyVet that the tumor and spleen would need to be removed. The original mast cell tumor is on the right side of his lip and may have spread to that lymph node as well. That will need to be removed. I live on disability and this has been a sudden, major expense. It would mean so much to have Jake declared "cancer-free". He is a happy, lively dog and I want him to live a long life in the best possible way. I've only had him for 4 years and I'm not ready to let him go yet

Maia was added to our family as if by the hands of other wordly figures. I kept getting signs that led straight to her. We got to take her home at just 8 weeks old and since we visited her every week until then, she and her adoptive brother, Weasley, became best friends so fast. They're the absolute perfect siblings - I've only seen a connection as strong through litter mates. Maia sleeps with us in our bed with Weasley. She loves peanut butter and gets excited when we make pancakes because she gets mini ones to share. She loves eggs and rice in her food and her eyes glaze over when she eats something she really likes. She loves going on walks and watching other animals (she's the most gentile soul) and is the perfect emotional support animal. She keeps me sane and safe Maia is my best friend, my little girl, and my savior. She shouldn't have to suffer because my life is fraught with financial problems. I'd like to get a second job to pay for treatment but I can't lose any extra time I may have with her. She's the light of our lives. My little girl was diagnosed with lymphoma on August 24th. We just had our first consultation with oncology at IndyVet with Dr Hillman and we're waiting on more results but it has reached all of her lymph nodes and a mass in her chest. I am absolutely devastated. I wish I could spend every second with her because I don't know how the chemo will work but it's not a curable disease. There is only one toy she has ever had and never destroyed: Llucy the Llama. She got it the day we brought her home and out of everything she's ever given, she keeps it safe and sleeps with it in her crate during the day. When she comes out of the crate she actually picks up the stuffie and drops her outside of the crate as if to say "we can come out now!" She'll occasionally take it into bed too.

My parents provided the stud for his litter and they got first pick and that was their gift to me the Christmas of 2011. I was so excited and could not wait to get to pick my puppy. I went and watched him from birth until he was big enough to come home. I chose him because he had the biggest paws of the whole litter, had a unique fur tone and he was always the one in the middle of the food pan:) For about 3 yrs I tried telling my vet something was wrong, finally switched vets then they referred me to another speciality vet and finally after 3 minutes of seeing him he diagnosed with biciptal tensosynovitis. Needed surgery which we had to save for and surgery was completed Dec 2018 at Ohio State University. He had been doing ok since but struggles with activities. Now possible bone tumor Einstein makes me laugh because he does the craziest things. He loves to be up high but has been difficult lately but we have found him on the kitchen table many times. He also loves to ride the golf cart and use to ride the 4 wheeler all the time. He will bust out the door when he hears it start up. He brings us so much joy and laughtet! I am a stay at home mom and my husband works for the railroad but has been off since August 2019 due to his medical conditions.
