Help This Brave Puppy Heal 💔🐾

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

At just 11 weeks old, little Blaze came to Pooch Savers in urgent need of help. His owner reached out after a devastating injury that caused Blaze's femur and leg to be completely detached. The vet gave us two options: complex surgery with a pin and rod… or amputation. They knew Blaze deserved a chance to run and play again, especially at such a young age so he had the surgery. This gave him the option to experience life as close to a normal puppy as possible. He made it through like a champ, and he’s already wagging his tiny tail. Blaze had multiple pins and rods placed during surgery and now faces 8 weeks of strict crate rest so his leg can heal properly. It won’t be easy, but this sweet pup is surrounded by love and care (and plenty of treats) every step of the way. Any amount you give today helps Pooch Savers cover his medical care, recovery supplies, and all the comfort he needs to full heal. No amount is too small. Thank you for your continued support.

Help Give Gizmo, a Sweet Senior, His Second Chance

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Gizmo was found wandering the DFW area in heartbreaking condition. He was all alone, filthy, severely matted, and clearly abandoned. Despite checking local shelters, local network, and lost pet postings, no one came forward to claim him. Thankfully, Pooch Savers Rescue stepped in, determined to give this sweet boy a second chance at life. Since arriving at the rescue, Gizmo has received the medical care he desperately needed. He was shaved, bathed, vaccinated, and heartworm tested—thankfully testing negative! His bloodwork came back strong, but he was unneutered and in need of dental care, especially given his estimated age of 10 and poor, painful dental health. While awaiting surgery, poor Gizmo came down with kennel cough, causing a two-week delay. But on April 22, he finally had his procedures done, including a neuter and successful dental where only five teeth had to be pulled. Now, Gizmo’s true personality has blossomed—he’s shiny, spunky, playful, and so full of life! He's running around and playing ready to start the next chapter of his journey. Gizmo finally has his second chance, and your support can help complete his journey. Donations will go directly toward his care and give him the happy, healthy life he’s been waiting for. Please consider helping Pooch Savers support Gizmo to start this new, joyful chapter! Update Gizmo is in much better shape than he was when he came to Pooch Savers. He has become such a goofy, happy little pup! Thank you for the continued support as we care for Gizmo, and so many others like him!

Help Hazel Heal – Emergency Surgery Fund

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Meet Hazel, a sweet 3-year-old Shih Tzu, who was rescued from a horrific situation. Hazel was one of 13 dogs left behind after her owner, an animal hoarder, passed away. The conditions they endured were nothing short of heartbreaking. Hazel, along with one other pup, was saved by Pooch Savers, while the rest of the dogs were placed with other rescues. When we brought Hazel to safety, we discovered that she was severely infested with fleas, and her hair was matted to the skin, creating pain at every movement. As we began to shave her down, we found a mass on her side that required immediate attention. Thankfully, the mass was quickly surgically removed and biopsied, but the surrounding tissue appeared concerning. Our vet is not optimistic about the outcome, and we are anxiously awaiting the biopsy results. We will continue to spoil Hazel with all the love and comfort she deserves as we wait, hoping for a positive result. Hazel's journey to recovery is just beginning, and we are asking for your help. Your generous donations will go towards Hazel's surgery, follow-up care, and biopsy costs. The expenses incurred so far total $500, but this amount may increase depending on the biopsy results and any additional care Hazel may require. Help us to ensure Hazel gets the treatment she deserves. Update 12/09/24 We are so happy to report that Hazel's biopsy came back and is a benign infundibular keratinizing acanthoma - a non-cancerous skin tumor that originates from the hair follicle in dogs, considered a common finding!

Lucy

Lucy is a 7-year-old Yorkie Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $500 for Periodontal Procedure with Extractions.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Pooch Savers Rescue was contacted by a friend of Lucy's owner. We were told she was unable to care of her, as that she needed to go into assisted living. As so often happens, when an owners health begins to decline, their pets are often neglected...this could not have been more true for sweet Lucy. We met Lucy at a nearby vet so we could have her rabies updated. We were warned that she had a dental issue, however we were not prepared for how badly she smelled...12 years of rescue and we were taken aback! Matted hair, nasty smelling drool, obvious skin infection, paw pads not visible due to overgrowth. First things first, we immediately shaved her down, cleaning her ears of hair and debris, and shaved her paw pads. Then came a nice soothing medicated bath...she was beginning to feel better, but we knew there was more to do. We don't know how long the teeth were a problem but it had to be many months if not years! The owner fed her chicken and hot dogs, "the good kind", according to her! Noah's Ark, the vet who did the dental knew from the pictures I'd taken, that the dog was miserable and this needed to be addresses ASAP. They put her on an antibiotic and pain med and scheduled the surgery a week later. The teeth were in deplorable condition, but after numerous extractions and extensive deep gum cleaning, she emerged triumphant! She's on her way to back to full health! Pooch Savers takes in dogs whose owners can no longer care for. We do everything we can to get the dog everything it needs to thrive, then we painstakingly search for a family who will love and care of them for the rest of their life...The need is enormous!

Cookie

Cookie is a seven-year-old Poodle mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $500 for urgent surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Scott B. from Pooch Savers Rescue is thankful he got the call about Cookie. A woman who felt the sweet Poodle mix was neglected convinced the dog's owner to surrender him to the rescue. But even Scott wasn't expecting Cookie to be in such bad shape. "He was limping. The dog's leg looked like he had on an extra-long sock. It was so noticeable. He was also dirty and matted," Scott tells Waggle. Cookie went straight to the animal hospital for X-rays that revealed he had an old fracture in his leg. "The vet believes Cookie's best option at this point is amputation," Scott says. "Sadly, had the owner taken care of this fracture when it happened, he wouldn't have suffered nearly as much, and he would have been able to keep his leg." The amount of stinky, gross fur the medical team shaved off Cookie was the size of a rabbit. His teeth are in poor condition; he needs dental surgery and to be neutered. With your help, Pooch Savers is ready to get Cookie all the surgeries he needs. Without the amputation, Cookie will remain in pain. "He's in discomfort," Scott says. "Leaving it on is not an option. People failed him. It's sickening." But once Cookie gets fixed up at Noah's Ark Animal Hospital, Scott knows the dog will have a great life ahead. "We can change Cookie's life," he says. "We can take the neglect and stop it right here in its tracks. It's heartbreaking to see. We feel horrible the dog had to go through it. We look at it as an opportunity to stop him from hurting and change his life in the future. No more pain. No more suffering. When we see a wrong, we do whatever we can to right it." Please help Cookie get on the road to recovery and the next, happier chapter of his life!

Photo of Murray

Murray

Murray is a five-year-old Maltese in Dallas, TX, who needs $600 for immediate eye surgery.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Murray sat suffering in an animal control kennel covered in what Pooch Savers Rescue calls a tomb of fur. "He's a Maltese, and their hair gets tangled easily," Scott B., with the group, tells Waggle. "The pictures don't even translate the full effect of how matted he was. You could feel the knots. He was in significant pain. Each time he moved, the mats were pulling on his skin. It hurt to move." Scott told the shelter they'd take Murray into their rescue and rushed him to a groomer who got them in on an emergency basis. It took two hours for the groomer to get all the mats out. Slowly Murray was transformed into an entirely different dog. "He was running around like a madman, barely able to contain himself, a true rebirth. He was so happy. I can't even begin to describe how it was so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time," Scott says. But then they noticed Murray's right eye appeared to be ruptured. They believe he suffered some sort of trauma. So then the rescue raced Murray to Noah's Ark Pet Hospital. That's where veterinarians determined his eye, sadly, could not be saved. But Murray can still have a wonderful life! He needs surgery to remove the eye. After he recovers, he will be available for adoption. Murray will also be neutered during the operation. Pooch Savers struggles each day in Texas, rescuing as many dogs as possible from shelters. Animal control facilities in Texas euthanize the highest number of dogs in the U.S. The rescue is constantly balancing its resources and the number of lives it can save. Your contribution to Murray's campaign will help the rescue pay Murray's veterinary bill and save more dogs in dire need. If the group did not save Murray from the shelter, he likely would not have a chance. "Every time we see a dog that's been neglected or injured, our heart goes out to them," Scott says. "We know these dogs are domesticated, and they expect us to look out for them. We bring them into the world, and we have to be responsible for them. We can't thank everyone enough for giving to help him!"

BooBoo

BooBoo is a 13-year-old Corgi mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $260 for Dental.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

BooBoo is a 13-year-old Corgi mix whose owner was elderly and was placed into assisted living and could not bring BooBoo with her. Unfortunately, no family members wanted BooBoo so the woman's son brought BooBoo to a vet to be euthanized! Thankfully, the vet staff didn't want to do that and several good Samaritans started looking around for rescue help. That's when we at Pooch Savers Rescue were contacted and asked if we could take her into our rescue, we were told that, although she was thought to be relatively healthy, she did have SEVERE dental disease, and would likely need all her teeth extracted. She came to us overweight and very confused and, of course, in DESPERATE need of dental surgery. BooBoo is now feeling SO much better and has pep in her step, a wagging tail and is ready to take on the world with a forever home. After being cleared to proceed with the dental surgery, we crossed our fingers and took her to Noah's Ark Pet Hospital on May 24. Upon pick up, we learned that, not only did she NOT need any extractions, all the built up tartar and calcified hair was chipped off and her teeth cleaned up beautifully! Her breath was horrible and we can only imagine how she felt living with a mouth like that! As with any senior dog, prior to any procedure that requires sedation, we do blood work, which showed her to be quite healthy except for early stage kidney disease, probably as a result of her teeth being neglected for years.

Tinkerbell

Tinker Bell is an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,000 for Hardened Mammary Cyst Removal.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Meet Tinker Bell, an 8-year-old yorkie. She came to us from the Palm Valley shelter, in South Texas. She was on the euthanasia list because of the ENORMOUS growths on her underbelly. Our vet took x-rays of her chest to see if there were any signs of “spreading” - thankfully, the lungs & heart appear clear. The two hardened mammary masses are the size of fists and make up about 20% of her body weight, which is all of 9 lbs! She is another one that has obviously been SEVERELY neglected; these growths didn’t get this big overnight. Our moto at Pooch Savers is "Every dog deserves a second chance." She needs surgery to remove the growths, at which time she will be spayed and microchipped. Tinker Bell is full of life and very sweet and we anticipate a full, long, healthy, and happy life following surgery.

Maggie

Maggie is a 7-year-old Jack Russel/Italian Greyhound in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,000 for exploratory surgery, possible hernia, dew claw removal and spay.

Dallas, TX • Pooch Savers Rescue

Meet Maggie, a 7 y/o Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound mix. She was on the euthanasia list at the Saginaw TX shelter. She had been found as a stray and was in HORRIBLE shape, absolutely filthy, had incredibly long nails, looked like they had never in her life been cut, she was skinny and she has a plum sized lump hanging from her belly. She was shivering with fright, and obviously, she had not been well taken care of. Maggie needs exploratory surgery on the mass (the vet thinks it's a hernia, but won't know until surgery), dew claw removal, and to be spayed. Our moto at Pooch Savers is "Every dog deserves a second chance." In the few days we've had her, she has already made strides with her fearfulness. She loves to get belly rubs and really, any attention, and likes to give kisses. She will come through all this with a new chance at life!
