Apollo
Apollo is a 7-year-old American Bulldog in Old Orchard Beach , ME, who needs $2,000 for CHOP Chemotherapy plan.
Old Orchard Beach, ME
7 years ago we rescued Apollo from a life of abuse and neglect. He was beaten hurt and needed lots of love- it took him a year to feel safe and wag his tail again. He has finally forgot the past life he came from and now is an extremely happy playful puppy. Everyone who meets him instantly loves him and says he has a good heart. His favorite things are beach walks, swimming, fishing, going on boats and rides. He is a shadow to my husband following him from room to room. We wake up everyday to Apollo in our faces, making cute noises and nudging us to wake up. He wants love and pets as much as possible, he is a big sweetie. He is also an excellent guard dog when I am home alone, he makes me feel very safe. Well going though Covid 19 we are financially strapped. My work is closed and my husband's work is currently per diem when needed. We are living off or savings until we can go back to our normal income level. Nothing would mean more than to have our dog in remission. Last week Apollo was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma cancer. His oncology doctor is Gail D. Mason at the Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care. The oncologist work out of the specialty care department. They say the CHOP chemo plan is his best hope for remission. We do not want to lose our beautiful boy, even to have him a few more years would be a blessing. Apollo sings to songs that we do not even listen to so he actually has his own playlist now. He puts his cold wet nose on our faces in the morning, while making huh huh noises. He loves to sleep all four legs up. When you stop petting him he nudges your arm or paws you for more pets or belly rubs. He growls when he’s displeased with something. He rolls down his own window in the truck.

Maddy
Maddy is an 11-year-old Golden Retriever in Portland, ME, who needs 5,000 for chemotherapy to treat lymphoma.
Portland, ME
Maddy joined our family when she was almost 1 year old adopted from another loving young family in Texas who wasn't able to keep her. Maddy was polite and well trained and proved to be a perfect match for our family. We had her sister, Shea since she was just a few weeks old and they reunited and have created their own special bond as pack of two for the past 11 years - referred to often as the "twins" or the "girls". When the girls were young, we did a lot of running around Lady Bird Lake in Austin and ball fetching at Zilker Park and Auditorium Shores where the girls could play with other pups and swim. We had annual birthday parties at the dog park where we celebrated with our friends and their four legged buddies. We made sure to keep Maddy and Shea at the forefront as our family grew, never sacrificing outdoor time or walks when three years later, we welcomed our daughter, Kaitlyn. We taught the children to treat Maddy and Shea respectfully as equals and we now have two children and a cat in addition to the girls. Maddy is very smart and seems to understands full sentences and emotions. She loves a squirrel chase and is always hungry. She is patient and will wait forever for a chipmunk to come down a tree. Maddy has lived with a genetic heart condition that was diagnosed when she was 3 which requires he to monitor her activity. She loves walks with the woods and is so gentle with her two kids. Since moving to Maine, she has worked with seniors with alzheimer's and other dementias through and organization called Visiting Angels and has brought so much joy to so many people. Maddy is a huge part of our family and we all love her so much! We are crushed and devastated to learn of Maddy's lymphoma diagnosis and will do anything to ensure she gets the treatment she needs.

Karuna
Karuna is an 8-year-old Shepherd mix in Rockland, ME, who needs $2,000 for splenectomy.
Rockland, ME
Karuna stole my heart in April 2011. Back then, she was a puppy named "Alison" who was living in a foster home. I knew i wanted her to be mine so i adopted her. Since then, she's been my hiking partner, kayak companion, road trip passenger, leg/foot warmer, little spoon(when she lets me), pillow-hogger, and part-time yogi. Runa loves exploring and meeting new people and puppies.

Rue
Rue is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever/Border Collie mix in Harpswell, ME, who needs $2,000 for liver shunt ligation, cystostomy, and bladder stone removal.
Harpswell, ME
I adopted my two rescue dogs, Rue and her sister Harley, last April. They were found on the streets of Alabama together. They are best friends- they are extremely bonded and hate to be apart from each other. They have both changed my life so much for the better since they arrived. Rue is sort of the polar opposite to her sister as far as personality- she is very calm, content to nap all day and is a great snuggler! She loves the dog park but not so much to play with other dogs than as to be petted by all the other dog owners:) She always stays close to me whenever we’re out somewhere so I don’t have to worry. She loves to eat! All food however now she’s unable to eat any of the “good” stuff due to her medical issues. Her favorites were donuts, hot dogs, cheese and greenies. She has struggled since I’ve had her with kennel cough, pneumonia, nearly lost her life when she was spayed (now we know this was due to the liver shunt), low energy/fatigue and bladder issues- it took a long time and a trip to the specialist to finally diagnose her with several large bladder stones in need of surgical removal and a liver shunt (which caused stones) which requires CT to confirm location and then surgery to correct it.
