Link

Link is a 11 year old Mix-Breed in Vernon, CA, who needs $16,049 for Chemo, Mammary Chain Removal, Radiology, Ultrasound.

Vernon

My cat Link was abandoned by her mom from a cat colony my own mother used to take care of. She was 1 day old when I got her my mom had called me saying there was a kitten in the sun abandoned by the mother for hours so I took a bus to her work to pick up Link when I saw her my heart sank she was tiny. She's an inspiration to me my little hero which is why she's named Link Well my cat unfortunately developed mammary tumors and unfortunately they're grade 2, we recently went to the oncologist I already spent over 2k removing the tumors but for chemo and to take her mammary chain out will cost a lot I'm going to Veterinary Cancer group amongst other places to get other things. I've always been depressed as a kid but she's the light of my life, quite literally my daughter I raised her from a baby! She asks for kisses and hugs, loves to play and very food motivated even now with her being sick she still wants a meal and doesn't hesitate to ask. I'm disabled I have cptsd amongst a lot of other mental issues, I have a few physical disabilities I just can't work like regular people. I'm trying to get the therapy I need but life has been difficult, this is tearing me apart I need her healthy again.

Pearl

Pearl is a 1 year old American Shorthair in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $9,200 for Surgery to Repair Broken Bones.

Los Angeles, CA

Pearl came into my life through a friend! My friend works for a rental car company. She overheard kittens coming from a car one day! They found a littler and she asked me if I wanted one and of course I agreed. I previously had a cat named Diamond who passed from diabetes. Pearls name is in reference to Diamond and Pearls by Prince. My two babies. Recently Pearl has been avoiding putting weight on her back right leg. I thought maybe it was a sprain from a bad jump so I gave it a few days and it never changed. I took her to an Access emergency hospital and they told me it’s broken in a few places. She has a clean bill of health besides the leg. I’ve only fed her blue buffalo since I received her. I take her health serious. My sweet shy baby that loves her mama, ever since she was a small kitten she loves laying on me! It’s how we bond she feels much comfort when I am around her and o feel so at peace with her. I was at a sad point in my life when my friend called me about her. She is my world and I love her so much. Pearl is a jumper she jumps here to there and back again. Seeing her cry limp and not be able to jump has me really sad. I like to chase her around my apartment but I really can’t do that because she can’t do all of her tricks. I miss that!

Zeena

Zeena is a 9 year old Bombay in Los Angeles , CA, who needs $2,000 for Abdominal Ultrasound.

Los Angeles, CA

I met Zeena months after I moved in. One day, I was in the kitchen washing dishes and kept hearing a sad meow, a cry for help. I live on the 2nd floor. I went outside through the back of the building and there Zeena was, a kitten in a hole on the side of the building directly under my kitchen window. Zeena was surrounded by chopped up hot dogs; clearly put there by someone trying to help. Zeena’s local vet, Shatto Vet in Koreatown (LA), ACCESS ER Animal Care in Culver City are both recommending abdominal ultrasound as their main concern, possibly more bloodwork, and cytology for find the most information and possible treatments; the estimated time for these procedures will require a 48-hour overnight stay. Guests in our home are always greeted and welcomed. Zeena wants those head scratches and gets them. Zeena couldn’t care less about the red dot, but loves scratching, pouncing, pulling, and swiping toys. Zeena is a hunter, but just for show. One of the hallways cats threw a mouse in our apartment one day and Zeena just looked at it, petted it, thought it was cute. I was laid off last year, company-wide cuts. Over 1,000 people, and still counting. Unemployment benefits ended in January. I haven’t been offered a full-time job in 13 months! & I love working! I need a job and outside assistance to help Zeena live pain-free.

Dippy

Dippy is a 3 year old American Shorthair in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $350 for Urinary Health Consultation and Medication.

Los Angeles, CA

Dippy was adopted from a shelter, she was little kitten wandering on her own, and when we met she wouldn’t let me out of her sight— I feel it was meant to be. Twirling around my feet… meowing loud as she could.. it was evident she had a huge heart from the beginning. Her inherent love and trust ignited the fierce need within me to care and love for her. Dippy has been showing severe symptoms of some bladder issues. She has been in pain, straining herself while peeing every other minute for the time she has been awake. This has been going on for a few days now, and I’m seeking to get her a consultation & diagnosis to prevent her symptoms from getting any worse. The hospital I’m seeking treatment from is called ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital. Dippy is an incredibly smart and an extraordinary cat. She’s extremely sociable and vocal—she meows in human intonations. Ive raised Dippy with love and she carries that confidence and trust in the world, I always say she’s more sociable than me! She’s always enthusiastic and curious to meet new friends. She’s my baby duck, always waddling behind me and watching me with her inquisitive eyes. I am a recent college grad working at financial stability after some unfortunate turns of life. Dippy is my daughter, and it breaks me to see her hurting. Your support would bring us closer to her healing, and back to our life of love and companionship we so luckily live.

Cherry

Cherry is a 16 year old Chihuahua in Arleta, CA, who needs $2,000 for CT Scan , Xrays & Dental.

Arleta, CA

Cherry was given to us by a family member that could not keep her due to restrictions on pets at rental home, we have had her since she was only a few months old and she is not a few months shy of being 17 years old. her name was given by family member's kids and we decided to keep it. Cherry was recently diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension & heart decease, due to her breed she is prone to dental issues & was referred to a dental specialist who was more concerned that her symptoms might not be related to teeth and could be something more serious like cancer and in order to avoid going in blindly and possibly cause more damage they suggested a CT at ACCESS. she has always been the cute little dog that everyone especially kids want to pet, but she is a little feisty girl it has to be on her terms because most kids are usually yo rough ion her opinion. we recently lost our 12 year old pup to cancer & are left with Cherry, both are our world and would do anything to make sure they are ok, but sometimes doing everything can add up in vet bills. getting any help would mean alot to us.

Lala

Lala is a 7 month old French Bulldog in Los Angeles , CA, who needs $2,000 for Ectopic Urethra.

Los Angeles, CA

Meet Lala, our beloved French Bulldog, who joined our family just three months ago. Living in our cozy one-bedroom apartment in downtown Los Angeles, she revels in her sunny balcony, watching the world go by. We’ve created a little oasis for her with soft grass, giving her a perfect spot to sunbathe and play. Lala fills our lives with joy, and her playful zoomies bring endless laughter. She truly Lala was born with ectopic ureters, a defect causing her ureters to drain into her urethra instead of her bladder. This condition makes it hard for her to retain urine and threatens her quality of life. Sadly, it’s starting to damage her kidneys. Without corrective surgery, Lala risks severe kidney disease, which could be life-threatening. We’re determined to give her the care she needs to thrive Lala is our beloved baby, convinced she’s human! She enjoys playing at the dog park with her friend Peanut and loves snuggling on the couch, always wanting to be close to us, whether we’re cooking or chasing the vacuum. Lala practices her tricks daily and adores her walks, greeting everyone she meets. With a quirky obsession for pigeons, her favorite outings are to the beach. We urgently need help funding Lala's unexpected surgery. We just brought her home three months ago and have no savings after covering her vaccinations. With a fixed income, budgeting for this substantial expense is tough. Having Lala healthy again would mean everything to us

Rocky

Rocky is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Burbank, CA, who needs $2,000 for Hemilaminectomy.

Burbank, CA

Rocky joined our lives in September through a rescue center, Priceless Pets, where he was named “Da Rock.” Inspired by his tough yet golden-hearted nature, we named him Rocky. It’s only been two months but he’s truly become our best friend, our little warrior, and the heart of our home. Rocky has taught us the beauty of unconditional love and companionship, and we can’t imagine life without him. Our sweet Rocky, a 2-year-old French Bulldog-Pitbull mix, suddenly lost the use of his hind legs last week. We quickly took him to a Dr. Andruzzi at ACCESS Specialty Hospital in Culver City. Tests revealed paralysis from a herniated disc. Surgery offers a 90-99% chance of him walking again, but the cost is overwhelming. We are forced to ask for assistance and we thank you for all the support. Rocky is an energetic and playful pup, always ready to brighten our day. Whether it’s chasing a ball, playing tug-of-war, or prancing with his favorite toys, his infectious energy fills our home. One of his sweetest quirks is carrying a toy everywhere—on walks, during playtime, and even to bed. It’s a constant reminder of his joyful spirit and never fails to make us smile. Unfortunately, with incomes combined, Rocky’s surgery is an unexpected expense we can’t afford. His health means everything to us, he’s not just a pet but family. So we’re asking for help to give him the chance to be able to enjoy the happy, active future he deserves.

Los Angeles, CA

As I was walking out of the shelter after an unsuccessful search for a new pet, a man had been walking in and asked me if I had been looking for a dog. I told him yes, and when he showed me Mochi, it was love at first sight. She's been with me and my family ever since. Mochi has had an on and off issue where she'll suddenly go lame in her front legs (shifting lameness) and cry out. After multiple vet visits they've come to the conclusion that it's most likely compressive cervical myelopathy, or IVDD. There is no way to tell unless she has an MRI to assess the condition. She's being seen at ACCESS emergency hospital. Mochi has been an absolute blessing to me, not only as my ESA, but also as my best friend. She's saved me countless times and has truly given my life purpose. She has the biggest personality you'll ever see on a dog, and makes an impression on everyone she meets. She's a cuddle bug who loves nothing more than to curl up and people watch, nap, or do just about anything with someone by her side. Im unable to afford these costs because in disabled and unable to work or generate enough income to cover this. Mochi is my ESA and has learned how to perform tasks to aid me during my episodes. She's my best friend, and I need my happy girl back.

Otis is a 1-year-old Lab Mix in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $2,000 for Left Total Hip Replacement.

los angeles, CA

Otis came into my life by accident. I was walking through the animal shelter trying to find a small to medium sized dog that would steal my heart, but left with a large lab mix with due eyes. I agreed to foster him at first, but quickly fell in love with his sweet demeanor. The shelter told me he was hit by a car and abandoned by his previous owner twice. I adopted him after 2 weeks. Otis lives in a 1-bedroom apartment with his mom. He loves to lounge on the softest surfaces, so the bean bag is his favorite place to hang out. He usually leaves a trail of toys around the bean bag, his favorite being his balls. He loves his squeaky balls more than anything, but he does love to play tug of war with his mom, too. However, his favorite place to be is right near his mom at all times Otis loves love. He's the first one to greet you and loves to give kisses to all dogs. Otis' special talent is that he can fit 3 tennis balls in his mouth! He started off with 1 and slowly worked his way up. His other special talent is his ability to be loved by all. Seriously, everyone who has met him tells him how sweet and cute he is, he gets a lot of compliments on his floppy ears & large paws Otis has severe bilateral hip dysplasia that is causing him active & chronic pain, and reduced mobility. Otis will need to be treated as soon as possible by Orthopedic Surgeon, Laurent Guiot at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals - Los Angeles. There is an urgency to this situation as the pain is causing Otis to walk on his tippy toes, which could cause permanent damage to his leg if left untreated. This is an unexpected and extremely expensive expense that I do not have the money for. I am on a fixed income and have a surmounting student loan debt. I do not have savings and live check by check. This is an expense that I neither can save for nor work more hours for.

Lady is a 9-year-old Pitbull in Newhall, CA, who needs $2,000 for Blood Transfusions & Emergency.

Newhall, CA

I rescued Lady and her brother Taz when they both were babies in an alley. They have always been together like glue and do everything together. I try to give them the best life possible because that’s what they give me. Lady is a foodie connoisseur and enjoys having a dinner date. She loves to look at what you’re eating, in hopes she gets to sample some too. Lady loves adventures in her big backyard with her brother and playing in the barn. I taught Lady to ring the Chime bell when she wants a treat—to return the favor, she likes to give you a ‘thank you’ woof! She also loves to watch me cook. Two months ago Ladys brother suddenly fell anemic. We rushed him to ACCESS where he had a splenectomy and needed a blood transfusion. They also removed a non cancerous mass and he is currently recovering well. Now, Lady is anemic and in need of a blood transfusion. Her spleen is enlarged and she might have lymphoma, which has caused extreme weight loss and extended her stomach. We spent thousands in vet bills that I am still struggling to pay off for Taz, now Lady needs medical treatment. I am financially trying everything I can to make this happen, to extend Lady’s happy life and in the future take her to the beach as I promised.

I rescued her from Carson Animal Shelter when she was 12 weeks old. All her siblings were boys, and she was the only female who was shaking her body in the corner of the cage. That caught my attention. I felt like I had to protect a little one. Since then, she has become my babe. I named Vanilla because she has beautiful white hair around her neck a color of Vanilla Ice cream. She was the 3rd dog when she came to my pack. Unfortunately, 2 dogs have gone to heaven in 2015 & 2021. She always checked on me every 10 to 15 mins and never left me alone when I was down. She loves to play catch ball. She loves talking. She also loves to find squirrels in the trees. She always sleeps in my arm. She is my emotional support dog, and we always have a special bond. She loves talking with my other dogs. And she is very smart to open jars/caps and do dog puzzles. She has had a favorite plush animal since she was a puppy. And she chews that. a plush animal constantly. And she does hand, shake, sit, and catch. Also, she understands both English and Japanese. She has been diagnosed with disabilities. She was also diagnosed with an enlarged liver, an elevated liver enzyme, intervertebral disc disease, and soft tissue opacity at her heart base, high blood pressure. Her food has been prescription food. I am low-income and live in Los Angeles. I am looking for remote work so I can monitor her closely, but I couldn't find any remote work last 2 months. She needs to get the EchoCardiogram and MRI to order to check her heart and her abdomen to get correct treatments.

I am a single mother of these 3 precious boys and have recently experienced unexpected challenges. I faced a layoff, had my catalytic converter stolen in January and had 2 hit-and-runs in July leaving it damaged and in need of repair. Duke is the sweetest boy compared to his older brothers. He is the most affectionate, loving, and quite needy of your attention. He is my shadow always making sure to ask for cuddles, pets, and best of all gives people so much love back. He is great with people and especially very curious with infants. He is so gentle with them. The most commonly asked question and comment I get is How is your Shiba so affectionate and well-mannered. He is always smiling and aware of people's feelings that I feel lucky to have him as my son. He is also more loving than your typical Shiba which is quite special to me and always noted by anyone who meets him. Duke's molar is broken in half exposing his root. I had taken him to see 2 doctors and my vet for recommendations and repair was highly recommended. I lost my job and experienced my catalytic converter stolen along with 2 car accidents recently. He means the world to me, and I want to do everything in my power to ensure his well-being so he can continue being the happy and playful companion he has always been. Thank you

She goes by mama, Khlo money bootiful. She lives with her friends Cici and Oreo but always misses her best friend/cousins Rocket and Marvel. Her human cousins love her just as much and she's always excited to see them. She loves being indoors and outdoors. Whenever someone comes home or walks through the door she grabs her toy in her mouth, wagging her tail so hard until you grab it from her after a good chase. Her favorite place is laying with Daddy, wherever Daddy is or goes she follows, when Daddy comes home, I(her mama) doesn't exist anymore. Nanas house is where she always wants to take a drive to. She's the sweetest to every human and dog she meets. Our thing is giving me a high five to reward her with neck rubs and kisses. I love when she's itchy and she'll scruff and roll all over her doggy bed ending belly up with her legs open waiting for some scratches. Her eyes are so beautiful even when she's giving you the side eye. Watching her be herself makes me happy. We never thought much about her getting sick since we've always made sure she got her yearly shots/exams. Her energy, character and appetite started declining and we noticed her skin becoming yellow. We took her to our veterinarian and discovered the liver is abnormal and ultimately be cancer. She is in need of a biopsy with possible transplant of blood, future surgery or treatment. This has been unexpected. With only one income coming in and I'm yet to return to work. My fur baby is my baby. Beba is now 13 and has 3 siblings. Beba has 3 siblings. Rocky, Nala, & Coco that love her so much. Beba loves naps. She enjoys sleeping on the couch (no blanket), on our bed, under the dinner table. Beba loves walks, especially loves running on the grass and jumping like a bunny. She does get tired so after 15 minutes she will ask to be carried. Beba enjoys her bone marrow snacks and will play with it for a while before eating it. Beba is more than a pet. Beba is our family, our baby, our princess. We have had her for 13 years. She is sassy, loving, and adventurous. She loves the park and the beach and playing with her canine brother and sister. Her feline brother coco will occasionally cuddle with her. She loves yelling at us when she wants something immediately. Beba is now being treated for her lymphoma. Her doctor is Dr. Siedleki. She is to start a 20 week chemotherapy treatment plan starting June 2nd, 2023. We paid for her consultation and have gotten the estimate. The doctor will know what type of lymphoma she has in a week. We live check to check. We unfortunately do not have any savings. My husband is the only one working. In college, my husband used to work at a vet's office. One day a kitten was brought in with a heart murmur and a broken tail. Since it had no owner, and we had no pets or children at the time, we decided to take him home. Since day 1 he has been the sweetest, most gentle cat/ He has been there loving on my 3 children since the day they were born. My husband and I are both local school teachers and we have 3 children at home ages 6, 10, and 12. Although all my kids love the cat, he has a special bond with my 12 year old son. When he was a baby he had to have two eye surgeries, the cat was there to comfort him through it all and now pretty much lives in his room. He waits on the edge of the bed for anyone to enter so he can greet them. Whenever someone in the family has a bad day, we know that they can be showered with comfort and affection from Mysticleese. He acts more like a dog than a cat. He stands on the edge of my son's bed, which puts him right near the door, and when anyone comes in he meows, reaches out with his pay and rubs his head against them while gently purring. He has been my savior after long days teaching. Recently, my cat stopped eating i the sense that he was interested in food, but couldn't get it down. His face also became really swollen. After $8000 in testing he was found to have a large mass in his mouth putting so much pressure on his jaw it broke. Thankfully, the tumor is benign and with surgery it can be removed and his jaw repaired. My husband and I are teachers with 3 little ones. I have recently come down with severe health issues and have many hospital bills and lost wages. This cat has been my comfort and it would mean everything to me to continue to have him by my side as I try to heal.

Hello, our beloved boy needs life saving surgery. He was with my grandmother almost 15 years and was the love of her life! My husband and I took him in when she passed away and had to take on two surgeries to help remove teeth and help with his eye condition. Unfortunately he recently began growing a mast cell tumor. The tumor is not cancerous and this would be a life saving surgery for our guy. Our big orange boy loves to cuddle with my husband even when he’s trying to work from home. He has the funniest meow more akin to a squeak! And loves playing with his toys post meals, making the loudest howls! (Even my neighbors can hear them). He loves to snuggle with our other kitty, Ziggy. They have become the best of friends! He lived most of his life with my grandmother before she passed away. And he followed her around all day squeaking about! After the loss of my father, her son, he brought so much comfort to her and I believe truly kept her alive for many years more. He’s very special to our family and a living connection to my grandmother. Comanche was diagnosed with a large mast cell tumor under his chin that may have spread to his lymph nodes. They will have to remove all to ensure success. He is otherwise healthy and we believe this could give us many more years with him. When my grandmother passed away we had to take care of Comanche’s eye surgery and the removal of all his teeth which set us quite back. Due to mental health we’ve had some setbacks and appreciate any help to keep our orange boy with us as long as possible.

About fifteen years ago, I found Bella on the side of the road in the desert. A man was selling her along with her brothers and sisters. She was shaking and I could tell she was being abused. So I bought her for 100.00 dollars. Bella and I have done everything to together until she became sick Bella loves to sleep and eat. She nearly bites my fingers off when I give her a treat. She used be so nice I guess it is her old age. I tried to train her to fetch like other dogs. But she thinks she is human. She looks at me as if I am crazy when I want to her to chase it. We joke around and think that she is not aware that she is a dog. Bella is hilarious when she can not have her cooked chicken. She comments with a couple of sighs. When I am feeling down, she is so sweet and comes up to me and gives me kisses.. I can always count on her to be there for me. She brightens my day and shows me that I am loved. Now, she is counting on me to help her feel better and I am going to do everything I can to make that happen. I took her to a specialist that her vet recommended. The biopsy and ultrasound confirmed that she has a tumor on her liver that is 10 centimeters long. We are not 100 % sure it is cancerous. She still needs surgery immediately because the tumor could burst and she could bleed to death. This will also help diminish her pain. In November my work hours were cut back unexpectedly. Due to this cut in hours it is hard for me to afford the expensive upcoming surgery she needs. It would mean the world to me and Bella if she could have the surgery.

Amazie (Amazing Grace)

Amazie (Amazing Grace) is an 8-year-old Tabby in Santa Monica, CA, who needs $1,500 for excising fungus with a necrotic center on her right, hind leg.

SANTA MONICA, CA

Yes, my darling Amazie was a rescue who's been with me now for her full 8 years! (born on St. Valentine's Day). She's such a precious little being in my life and her first few months were spent saying good-bye to my beloved black lab Boo! who was 16 years old when she left us. Since then Amazie and I have been very loving, close companions There are no 'family members' to tell you about since I'm 90 years old and the only surviving member of my family of origen, was widowed in 2012 from my beloved of 12 years; and i have a foster-daughter in Toronto. But I do have a few friends...(the last close one died in 2019)...and a tenant, all of whom adore Amazie! Oh my goodness! Amazie is so special this form isn't long enough to count the ways! She's very smart, loves to kiss you as if she were a dog, but also likes to add little nips or love bites to finish you off! Once when I was in the hospital for a minor operation; when I came home after a week, she hid under the bed and didn't coe out for almost a full day! She's very alert and has become wise. I've been giving her a daily dose of a liquid medicine for a year now...called Fungol, and in the beginning all the lumps and bumps receded but a month ago her right hind leg lump grew larger and burst! After the vet did a minor surgery on her the leg was back to normal size but now a month later, her leg has blown up again! And the vet says I need a specialist.. Our appt. is on December 31st. I'm a senior on fixed income and I already spent $500.00 on the first minor surgery. Now I'm looking at a possible $3000.00 expense. I hope it won't be an amputation...please God!

Luna

Luna is a 4-year-old Domestic Shorthair in San Bernardino, CA, who needs $600 for radioactive iodine therapy.

San Bernardino, CA

Luna came in to my life in such a unique way. At the time, I was struggling mentally and was seeking an emotional support animal. Luna happened to be a stray that was stuck in a tree. We saw her and needed to help. My friend climbed the tree and rescued Luna. We knew that she wasn’t meant for the outdoors and had to take her in a save her. Luna is such an amazing companion. She does not like other cats as much but LOVES her dog friend! She loves her mommy and her daddy and gives them kisses so they know how much they mean to her! She’s such a vocal cat and loves to talk to her mommy! She lets us know when she’s hungry, bored, or just wants attention! I have lost my job and have already spent over $1000 on testing, imaging, and medications. Since this was so unexpected, I have Spent all of my savings on getting her comfortable. This treatment will cure her hyperthyroidism and will restore her behavior! Luna has gotten sick and two weeks ago stopped eating food and drinking water. her normal vet has diagnosed her with Hyperthyroidism. Since she has liver damage already, the prescription medication is not suitable as it can push her into liver failure. The only option for treatment is Radioactive iodine therapy which would restore her thyroid to function. The treating provider is Radiocat in L.A. Luna is such a unique kitty. She doesn’t like other cats very much but doesn’t mind the dogs that are 10 times her size! Her best friend is an American bulldog, also named Luna. She wakes me up by licking my face when she’s ready for her morning meal time and she sleeps by my head every night! She knows when I’m sad and knows how to make me feel better.

Tim

Tim is a 6-year-old Tabby in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $2,000 for PU Surgery.

Los Angeles, CA

Hello, we are Ryan and Laura, the parents of our sweetheart kitty Tim. In the middle of the pandemic, we started walking everyday giving food to cats on the street. One day, instead of finishing the food we left for him, he started to follow us. We tried to leave more food for him every few blocks, but he continued following us for over 25 blocks all the way home. Instantly he made friends with Ruby, our doggy (who surprisingly didn’t bark as she usually does to every cat). Once at home, he met Collette, our other kitty who was rescued as well. He respectfully entered our home with care and sweetness. Now they are all inseparable. We call them triplets since they all look alike. That's why we came here to ask for some support from our community and animal lovers like us. We do not want any animal to suffer. That is why we rescue them and we are volunteers at the Humane Society so that those who are awaiting adoption. The vet diagnosed him with a urinary blockage that needed to be unblocked immediately. They put a catheter in him and made him stay there for 3 days (suffering, crying and anguish, we did not want to leave him but we had no other option, so we went to visit him every day despite the pandemic to let us accompany him, and we thought that this was the most difficult moment). Even though he’s grown up, (we didn't know his age but assumed at least 5 years old) we know pretty well his behavior, personality, what he wants, what he doesn't want, as if we’ve known him his whole life. That’s why on Wednesday last week, we noticed something was off with him and we took him to the vet emergency room right away.

Penny

Penny is a five-year-old Pit Bull in Beverly Hills, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent medical treatment and testing.

Los Angeles, CA • Deity Animal Rescue

Penny is suffering from a mysterious medical mystery and needs your help! Deity Animal Rescue tells Waggle that Penny's owners could no longer care for her and surrendered her to their nonprofit organization. "They said when she was six months old, her legs began to bow," Ellen D., the co-founder of the rescue, says. "It continued to progress, and then over the last year, she was so weak she could not get up and walk anymore. If a rescue didn't take Penny, her owners would have had to put her down." The rescue rushed Penny over to ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital for urgent care and tests, but after blood work, X-rays, an MRI, a CT scan, and a spinal tap, the cause of Penny's issues is still not clear. "Initially, the tests indicated possible Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The veterinarian put her on antibiotics for that and on additional antibiotics for a skin infection caused by lying in her urine for so long. It's heartbreaking. We feel like we're at a loss. We really want to be able to help her. Penny is truly a special girl," Ellen says. Penny's shiny and bright personality captures the attention of everyone she meets. Her foster mom adores her, helps Penny use her wheelchair, and pulls her around in a Radio Flyer wagon. Penny is now showing some slight improvement which is giving everyone a glimmer of hope. "Now she can push herself up on her front legs, and with a little help, her back legs come up," Ellen adds. "Penny is trying so hard!" Physical therapy is the next course of treatment for Penny. Many of the muscles in her legs are atrophied, and if she can regain some strength, the hope is Penny may be able to walk again. The rescue rang up thousands of dollars in medical bills running tests on Penny. They need to raise money to pay the animal hospital for her care. Ellen says Penny is worth every penny, "Her tail does not stop wagging. She's a happy girl. We think she has the ambition to get up again." Penny may be limited in what her legs can do, but there is no limit to the amount of love and wags she gives. Please help Penny and Deity Animal Rescue!
