Duke

Duke is a 4 year old Labrador Retriever in Melba, ID, who needs $12,000 for Oxygen Level and Pneumonia Treatment.

Melba, ID

How do I describe Duke, loving, mentally supportive and very out going. So having him in the hospital fighting the worse case of pneumonia the vet has ever seen breaks my heart. I've lost so much in the past 4 years I can't handle losing anyone or any pets. I lost my son in 2022 he was 28, lost my chocolate lab Bailey in 2022, lost my yellow lab in 2023 and my German shepherd in 2025. Duke was playing in the creek as usual but in inhaled a bunch of water, started throwing up. Watched caused aspiration pneumonia. He was put on high flow oxygen but was changed to normal oxygen. The vet has informed us that this is the worst case of pneumonia he's ever seen in a dog. We are 5 days in the hospital and 12 thousand dollars in vet bills the keep going up. Duke is a emotional support dog, he knows when I cring or just upset. He loves on me until he calms me down. He has a brother and they never been apart which is causing depression for both of them. This is definitely an unexpected vet bill currently at 12 thousand dollars. If this continues going up I don't know how we're going to afford our other bills.

Smokey

Smokey is a 9 month old Labrador Retriever in Nampa, ID, who needs $800 for Cheat Grass Removal Surgery.

Nampa, ID

Hi, my name is Smokey. Mom and Dad call me that because of my Silver Lab Coat. I came from a breeder on the other side of Idaho. I don't remember a lot about that, but I do know that since then, I have had a bunch of fun with my new family. Mom and Dad play Frisbee every time we go outside. I have a whole yard to run around in with my BIG brother Dredd. He is a mastiff. Whatever that means... Smokey has been to Viking Veterinary Hospital in Nampa last week for cheat grass stuck in his left rear paw. He was sedated and cheat grass was removed. He needs a followup to remove the remaining cheat. He will need another exam fee, sedation, surgical removal of cheat, pain meds, and antibiotics. Last time cost $780. All other vets are booked out until August or later. Smokey is a ball of energy. He is always curious in whatever is going on and loves to play/wrestle with our mastiff Dredd. He likes fetching anything and everything for Dad, deep snuggles with Mom, and cool hangouts with with our daughter. He is the life of the party and likes to be the center of attention. He is always smiling and happy. Unless he can't be around his family. I have been without work for two months. I recently got a job starting on July 7th. I was able to pay for Smokey's initial visit with a line of credit from Cherry. That bill was around $780 and will be again. I can't lose this dog to an infection. He is our son, brother, world

Guts

Guts is a 2 year old American Shorthair in Meridian , ID, who needs $2,000 for Blocked Bladder.

Meridian, ID

We got Guts as a baby two years ago. He was in a litter of kittens that was being given away. We take him everywhere with us and he is part of the family. Guts was taken to the emergency vet for trouble urinating. The vet said he has crystals in his bladder. They had to perform surgery and unblock his bladder. Guts loves to go hiking/camping. He loves dogs and walks on a leash. He likes to go swimming and loves bath time. Guts is extremely sweet and playful. We've taken Guts to the ER twice now and this last time was really expensive. We have fixed income and it's difficult when emergencies arise. One of our cars has been in the shop lately and we've been paying to fix it.

Kiwi

Kiwi needs $2000 for Emergency Abdominal Surgery.

Nampa

Kiwi came into our life as a puppy from a family member who wasn’t able to care for her at the time. She’s accompanied by her older sister, a mixed terrier named Luna who came from the same situation basically. She’s in an out of the house exploring our backyard and she has a favorite chair in the house she likes to window watch out of. Kiwi had an emergency abdominal surgery for a foreign object, and it was a whole walnut! We don’t have any walnut trees around our house or our walks so we’re assuming a squirrel dropped it in our backyard and she got a hold of it. The surgery was successful but caused her hip dysplasia to progress rapidly from being down for 2 weeks. Her surgery was done at Viking Veterinary Hospital. Kiwi is an independent little husky and stubborn. We’ve had to completely lock up all our trash cans because she’s resembles Oscar the Grouch from sesame street, loves trash! She’s a little baby at heart though, loves to lay on our bed and the rocking chair designated in our living room for her. She’s very curious and gentle with kids and she hates to admit but admires her sister Luna. This surgery was a sudden and expensive one. We weren’t able do much physical activity for 2 weeks during recovery, and now her hip dysplasia is worse than ever. I’m hoping if we get this paid off we can start physical therapy and see her build that muscle back.

Benji

Benji is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Nampa, ID, who needs $1,500 for Root Canal.

Nampa, ID

I brought Benji home from the humane society in 2021. He was 3 then and very skinny with a kennel cough, he was a stray when they found him but even still his energy was high and spirit to play even higher. He’s been with me for the last 4 years and he’s become very popular amongst my friends and family as a very sweet, playful and yet gentle dog. He’s pretty small 30 pounds and very toy dependent Recently Benji had an injury I hadn’t noticed, he was excessively licking his lips at night and favoring a side of his mouth for about a week and I noticed he would yelp when playing with his chew toys. Upon further inspection i noticed his back teeth were fractured but still partially intact. You can move the tooth but it’s attached enough it causes him pain I’m want to get him in for root canal Tug of war is his go to favorite method of play, he’s an extremely sweet dog, submissive to every other dog he’s met rolling over to expose his belly, just eager to play. He’s good with everyone and can often be seen dragging around his blanket or rope toys looking for a partner to play tug of war. I’ve very recently moved into a new apartment. I’m normally not one to seek help but most of my finances were tied up in moving delays storage fees and now finally moving and this surgery to avoid infection in his mouth just happened at a really bad time.

Lucky

Lucky is a 10 month old American Pit Bull Terrier in Nampa, ID, who needs $2,000 for Diagnostics.

Nampa, ID

I wasn't looking for a dog or any companion for that matter. I've had. Life has dealt me a very crazy hand these past few months. And a friend of mine showed up with lucky. The connection was instant and I just knew that he felt what I felt and since then he's made it a lot easier to begin to heal because I know that he's taking my pain. I can't lose him. I lost a dog almost identical too lucky. My lucky was hit by a car earlier today and we are struggling to provide the necessary treatments that he needs. We are currently at the Viking In Nampa for him to get the treatment that he needs needs. The diagnostics is going to cost $1,400 for 2 days but what we really need is the ultrasound and the x-rays to determine whether he has internal bleeding or not. We have to pay a minimum of $800. Lucky is a very sweet, sweet, loving and cuddly papi. He's 10 months old and he is the epitome of man's best friend. Although it's sometimes he can get a little rambunctious which is a little irritating sometimes, but all in all he is just the best. I am currently unemployed due to unforeseen circumstances and my bills are just stacking up which makes it difficult for me to do other things that I need to do. I am begging you to please help with whatever you can. I have given every cent that I have in my possession.

Photo of Lucy Lou Bear

Lucy Lou Bear

Lucy Lou Bear is a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever in Boise, ID, who needs $2,000 for 24 Hour Care.

boise, ID

My name is Sara, and I rescued my sweet Lucy Lou from the humane society in Boise, Idaho almost 10 years ago. Since she came into my life, she has been a constant source of joy and love for me. I am on permanent disability and she has acted as an emotional support animal for me through the years. I live with my younger brother and two cats. Lucy is a very loving and expressive dog. We have our own language of love and she communicates with me in her own special way. When I have panic attacks she does not leave my side, she lays against me and licks me until I have calmed down. She sleeps right next to my bed, or on the bed with me, and follows me everywhere I go. We are bonded and attached at the hip, she is my best friend. Lucy is a unique dog. She is very expressive and loves to chew bones, go on walks, and especially, go on car rides. She goes everywhere with me, as she is my emotional support animal, and I tend to get more panic attacks when she is not with me. I love her more than I've ever loved anything in the world. She loves other dogs and cats and loves to go to the river and play. Lucy got sick a week ago with pancreatitis and is not recovering well, due to the fact that I struggle to get her care because of being on disability and being on a fixed income. She is being treated at Viking Veterinary Hospital by Dr.s Meloche and Dr. Lonchar. She needs treatment to be able to recover from this, and there is no way I can afford it on my own. I am on permanent disability, and am on a fixed income. I work when I can, but am only allowed to work a few hours a week, so I don't make very much money. I have rent, vast medical bills and other financial obligations. Lucy means everything to me and I need her to get well
