Sokka

Sokka is a 4 year old American Staffordshire Terrier in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $1,856 for Pin/Plate Removal Surgery.

Colorado Springs, CO

Sokka came to us as a puppy from a local rescue. His mama had been picked up and was pregnant. He lives with his two favorite kids and two grown ups! Often sokka can be found pretending to be weaker than a six year old while playing tug a war, eating crayons that got left out, or snuggling with his owner Madi. Sokka unfortunately had a genetic issue of weak hips and weak ligaments. When he was just 1 years old he began to limp and rapidly stopped using his right leg altogether. It was found he has torn the ligaments in his knee. He had a surgery to repair the knee and recovered well. Unfortunately since then the site of some of the instruments has repeatedly become inflamed and infected. Sokka is essentially a service dog for his owner, who battles mental health issues. He is remarkable at helping them through panic attacks when needed. He also is simply a family dog who has two children who adore him! Pet care is crazy expensive. This is sadly not the first crazy expensive surgery sokka has had, but hopefully it will be the last he will need. The orthopedic specialist is confident that he will make a full recovery if we get the instruments out of his knee.

Starfire

Starfire is a 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $2,000 for Tibial Tuberosity Transposition.

Colorado Springs, CO

My family adopted Starfire when she was 2 months old from the litter of a friend of a friend. My oldest had been wanting a puppy for years and we had just got settled into our first owned home. She is now a year old and completely a member of the family. Around September of 2023, she started showing signs of discomfort in her back right leg. We thought it was an injury from a tumble she took the day before. After visiting her vet at Banfield, a 2nd opinion at Westside Animal Hospital, and x-rays, it was discovered that Starfire suffers from a developmental issue called Luxating Patella where her kneecaps repeatedly are dislocated. She is loved by a 2yo girl, a 9yo boy, 2 kitties, Mom and Dad. Since day one, she has always been a goofy, fun-loving, cuddle bug of a pup. She loves to frolic through grass and snow and is the best cuddle buddy anyone could ask for. She loves to play with her kitty siblings and human babies. She is always so gentle! Her favorite pastimes are cuddling by the fireplace and visiting Grandma's house. The surgery to repair this issue is approximately $4000. We've applied for a PetCare credit card but were denied. I am hoping not to have to surrender my kiddos’ first puppy so that she can find a family that can afford her medical needs.
