Massimo

Massimo is a 5-year-old Brussels Griffon in San Diego, CA, who needs $2,000 for BAS Surgery.

San Diego, CA

Massimo is a spunky lil' guy that can make you magically forget all your woes the moment you see his grumpy Griffon pout and Dr. Seuss-like paws. I adopted Massimo in 2019 when he was just a 5 lb squirt. His prior living conditions were squalid and isolating where he struggled w/ giardia and poor skin/coat health. Once adopted, he quickly made a full recovery w/ an improved diet and a loving home. The moment I brought Massimo home he became family. When I lost my dad a few months later, he gave me comfort and solace in times of grieving. He will be at your ankles no matter where you go. He even insists on joining us paddleboarding on the Bay. With his big (XXS) puffy life jacket, he stands at attention on the nose of the board like the best little sea monkey captain. He is such a joy. Massimo hasn't been able to be as active the last few months, as he's been having issues breathing properly. It's been scary to see him struggle to breathe after very little activity. His vet determined that he was suffering from symptoms of Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS), which affects flat-faced breeds and causes obstruction in their windpipe and nasal airways. It worsens if not corrected. Massimo's vet specialist created a treatment plan that includes surgery to open up his nasal airway, correct the structure of his larynx, and address the soft palette obstruction in his windpipe. After he undergoes this surgical procedure, he is expected to make a full recovery and return back to an active pup w/o respiratory issues. The surgery is quoted at $6060.25 and is scheduled for 8/24/23. This procedure is challenging to afford on my own. I'm hopeful there's someone out there that understands this deep bond between a dog + their human and wants to help support the cost.

Drako

Drako is a 3-year-old Miniature Pincher in San Jose , CA, who needs $2,000 for Laminectomy.

San Jose, CA

Drako was gift to our older son Andrew during the pandemic as a graduation gift. He has been a big part of our family over the past 3 years and our entire family as grown love him so much. He lives in our home with our 5 children who enjoy his presents and had brought them to tears knowing he is in pain and may or be able to fix him. Drako loves to cuddle with family as he at times acts like human and will sleep with his head on the pillow! He love to playing fetch with his toys as well as bring the leash when he wants to go on walks. He has been the best gauged dog that barks any anyone walking up to the door! We sure miss him running to great us at the door! Drako is special to our family because he loves us and we Love him so much too. He’s full of energy and always ready to play and go on adventures with our kids! Drako has a condition called IVDD. If your Drako gets through the rehabilitation period after IVDD, his life expectancy is the same as any other dog. We have take Drako to the emergency clinic two times since June and have followed up with his Normal clinic for his condition and they have both said surgery is Drako’s only option to walk again is a very costly surgery. Our family is on fixed income and this costly surgery is out of our budget. We would love to be able to put up the funds to make Drako a healthy dog again. To be able to enjoy him playing and running around the house again and greeting us at the door when we come home!

Faith

Faith is a 10-year-old Basenji / Terrier Mix in Marietta , GA, who needs $820 for Surgery.

Marietta, GA

My children & I use to go visit Faith every weekend at the SPCA in Lakeland,Fl. We went so much to see her & play with her. An employee said that we were the only family that came to see her. Asked would we like to adopt her. So I said Yes!!! She’s been apart of our Family since February 2014. Couldn’t imagine life without her. Faith is an over friendly Basenji Terrier Mix. Faith loves to interact with everyone whose in her territory. Everyone that comes to visit falls in love with her. She brings comfort to my son when he has anxiety attacks or is depressed. Over all she’s our fur baby and protector when she needs to be. Faith body language can be read if you know her. She’s most happy when she’s out taking walks or at the dog park. She can also talk. She loves to show her jumping skills no matter how she’s feeling. Faith is so entertaining & makes you smile just by looking at her. She smiles back. With Faith all things are possible 🙏🏾 Faith has a large mass on her right lower leg(seen in photo). I have no idea how did she get it or what it is. Our veterinarian recommend that she has surgery to remove it. Faith only surgery has been to be spayed & micro chipped. I’m a single mother & I can’t afford to pay $820 at one time for Faith surgery. The clinic doesn’t take payments & I don’t qualify for Care Credit. It will meant the world to me to have Faith back to herself. So she can go out and play & enjoy life like the other dogs.

Jasper

Jasper is a 12-year-old American Shorthair in West Richland, WA, who needs $900 for Removal of bladder stone.

West Richland, WA

Jasper is a sweet, lovable American Shorthair. I cannot afford his surgery. I took him to Paws Claws and Hooves in West Richland, WA. They told me that he has a stone in his bladder and needs $900 of surgery to remove it. I do not want him to be a victim of economic euthanasia. Please help us. Jasper is a very, sweet, loving cat. He was rescued from an animal shelter. As time passed, he really began to show his personality. He has two other companion cats that he gets along with and he loves people. He loves to play soccer with a little ball and he also is a lap cat. If I am doing laundry, housework, in the kitchen, or just sitting, he likes to be there too. Jasper has a way of understanding the moods of the people that he shares a home with. If someone is sad, or sick, he will sit with that person for a very long time. He is great company and a great soccer player. He is a very gentle and tolerant cat. He also is a very smart cat and responds when I talk to him about different things, like he knows what you’re saying. I took Jasper to Paws Claws and Hooves in West Richland, WA. After an examination, they told me that he has a stone in his bladder. I understand this can be very painful if left untreated. I found out about this a year ago, and I have not been able to do anything. I am on Disability and at the same time, my husband asked me for a divorce. I am going through a divorce right now. My spouse was instructed by his attorney to not pay any of my bills. On Disability, I average about $160 a week and now I have to pay my own bills. Jasper is now the victim of a situation that he and myself did not ask for.

Jasper

Jasper is a 10-year-old Miniature Pinscher in Elburn, IL, who needs $2,000 for jaw surgery.

Elburn, IL

Jasper came into my life 10 years ago when he was 12 weeks old and after I lost my 3 1/2 legged Tipsy. So I guess you can say that he rescued me. When we were trying to come up with a name, my daughter was thinking something from Harry Potter. That is when I decided to name him after my favorite Twilight character. Jasper goes up stairs backwards. Jasper likes to run off but never goes far. All I have to do is set off my car alarm and he comes running back because he thinks he's going for a car ride. He sleeps in 4 places: with me...on one of his beds...in his mancave..or the laundry basket. He won't go out if it is raining because he hates to get wet, but he loves to play in the snow. His favorite foos pizza and his favorite treat is FD minnows This was an unexpected issue that I have no savings for. Jasper was my physical therapy assistant after my knee replacements(he kept me walking). It kills me that I'm unable to help him get this taken care of as soon as possible. Jasper is my best friend. Jasper has developed an aggressive tumor in his mouth that is just going to keep on growing. It is not bothering him yet but the bigger it gets it will. It could eventually become hard for him to eat or drink. He is being treated at Veterinary Dental Center. I live alone and Jasper is my world. Jasper loves my daughter, but when her husband is around nobody exists...lol. He has a "friend" Sasha. I come home from work to the BEST greetings. Then we go for a walk or to his favorite park. Jasper has 2 baskets full of toys because he gets barkbox. Sometimes we share them with his "cousins" at my daughter's. He likes to "help" with laundry dry by laying on the pile of hot clothes.

Mans

Mans is a 1-year-old Manx in Kings Mountain, NC, who needs $300 for neuter surgery, shots, and first time visit checkup.

Kings Mountain, NC

Mans came into my life by mistake actually. Last April A neighbor's cat had her first litter. She completely shunned 2 of them immediately. A boy, Mans and a girl, Tails. They were found in the yard still covered in blood. My daughter and I took them in. We bottle fed them and watched them around the clock until we knew that they we're going to make it. From day one they we're part of our family. I am a disabled 73 yr old veteran. It is just my daughter Jenni and I in my home, no other family around. Mans is very close to us both. He gets along very well with with my other cat, Tails and her three kittens MJ, Tubby & Clever who were born on May 6th 2021. He's very affectionate and very helpful with them. He loves to eat, give kisses and talk. He ALWAYS has something to say. I am disabled on a extremely tight fixed income. I get paid once a month and every dime goes to bills. My check is the only income in the household. My daughter can't work because she cares for me around the clock. We have no help from family. The struggle is real. Mans has never got to go to a vet. We got a wormer for him, but that's all we were able to do. I'd like for him to go to Boulevard Animal Hospital in Shelby NC., To have him fixed, get his shots and make sure he's okay. I'm worried about digestive issues, he's been throwing up a lot. He's my best friend I don't know what I'd do if something would happen to him. Mans loves to smile. He can speak several words clearly such as, Mom, Mans, Paw, Now and out. He loves playing with his stuffed rabbit & zebra. He likes chasing his laser, ALOT. Mans enjoys good cuddles and taking naps(he snores, it's cute) When my sugar drops he nudges me & meows extremely loud, nonstop untill Jenni comes to check on me or I take my meds and am coherent again.

Rosalie

Rosalie is a 1-year-old Pug in Cortaro, AZ, who needs $2,000 for Portosystemic shunt ligation.

Cortaro, AZ • HOPE Animal Shelter

Rosalie was found as a stray and taken into a foster home under HOPE Animal Shelter. Her owners were not found. She was malnourished when she was found and immediately saw our primary vet for a wellness exam. Rosalie was doing well in her foster home and her condition seemed to be improving, but there was always something a little off about her. She never had crazy puppy energy. Rosalie has always been very sweet and loving towards all humans and dogs, but she was always very calm. Since the Portosystemic shunt was diagnosed and medical management began, she has been a typical crazy pug puppy. She is non-stop all over the place and just always is having a good time. She loves to play and tell everyone how good she feels now. After spending over $5000 to diagnose Rosalie and get her back in good health, our foster program was left with no funds to cover the surgery to permanently fix the shunt. Medical management is not a long term solution, and she needs the surgery to live a long life. Rosalie began presenting with neurological symptoms while in foster care. She was rushed to Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, and after over $5000 in testing and treatment, she was diagnosed with a Portosystemic shunt. She is currently being medically managed and has gone from not being able to walk and having seizures, to being a normal puppy. Just look at her pictures! Rosalie is goofball. She makes the best little faces with her buggy pug eyes. Since she is feeling better now, she is non stop entertainment for her foster family. They are so happy to see her true personality and this surgery will allow her to feel better all the time!

Slinky and Yoyo

Slinky and Yoyo are 1-year-old mix pups in Moab, UT, who need $2,000 for Parvo Treatment.

Moab, UT • Underdog Animal Rescue and Rehab- Moab

Slinky(M) and Yoyo(F) were found abandoned in Newcomb, NM on the Navajo Reservation in early January. A long-time supporter of Underdog Rescue and Rehab saw them cowering under some trash to try and keep warm from the chilly winter winds and scooped them up. Since recovering from Parvo, both Slinky and Yoyo are now in their forever homes. Slinky and Yoyowere very energetic, happy, and vocal pups. So when their foster reported that they were acting lethargic and uninterested in food, we knew something was wrong. After three nights of intensive care, Slinky and Yoyo are both back to their energetic selves. They love exploring and following their noses to new places. They enjoy playing with other dogs and learning new tricks. Underdog Rescue has saved 1400 + dogs from the res. We never turn a dog away because of their medical needs. We are a small rescue that relies on our supporters to help us through emergency medical cases. Slinky and Yoyo were transported to our foster in Grand Junction, CO. Later, the foster reached out and said Slinky was acting lethargic and was uninterested in food. At Amigo Animal Clinic, Slinky was diagnosed with Parvo. Two days later, Yoyo was diagnosed with Parvo too. Each pup spent three nights in intensive care at the vet for IV fluids to ensure they survived. Slinky and Yoyo are from the Navajo Nation reservation. They were rescued from the estimated 250,000+ stray animals on the rez. Rez dogs are against some of the harshest environments, deadly dog diseases, and cannot access basic needs. When these pups survived abandonment in the winter on the rez and deadly disease, they became heroes in our eyes.
