Help Rosetta Trade Shelter Life for a Second Chance

Huntington, WV • One by One Animal Advocates

Rosetta has spent nearly a year waiting. This beautiful 3½-year-old, 50-pound girl has watched countless dogs come and go from the shelter while she remains behind, hoping each day will finally be the day someone sees the incredible dog she truly is. When Rosetta first arrived at the shelter, she loved participating in playgroups and spending time with other dogs. But after being injured during a dog altercation, everything changed. Although her physical wounds healed, the experience left her fearful and uncertain around other dogs. Since then, Rosetta has missed out on many of the enrichment activities that help shelter dogs thrive. Instead of group play, she enjoys one-on-one walks with volunteers—and those moments have become the highlight of her day. What hasn't changed is her love for people. Rosetta absolutely adores human companionship. She lights up around children, happily leans in for affection, and loves relaxing beside her favorite volunteers under the shade of a big tree. She's goofy, affectionate, and full of personality. Like many dogs who have never had consistent training, she's strong, enthusiastic, and still learning her manners—but beneath all that excitement is a dog who simply wants someone to believe in her. With the shelter operating at more than twice its intended capacity, staff members work tirelessly to care for every animal. But dogs like Rosetta need more than a crowded shelter can provide. That's why One By One Animal Advocates is giving Rosetta an incredible opportunity. Rosetta has been accepted into a four-week professional training program at The Bark Barn, where experienced trainers will help her build confidence, develop essential life skills, and learn how to calmly navigate the world around her. Her journey will include muzzle conditioning to ensure safe introductions, confidence-building exercises around other dogs, loose-leash walking, obedience training, place commands, and the structure every dog deserves to become the best version of themselves. Most importantly, she'll be given something every shelter dog longs for: the chance to succeed. While she's in training, The Bark Barn will also help search for the right forever home. Even if Rosetta returns to the shelter afterward, she'll come back with new confidence, valuable skills, and a much greater chance of finally finding the loving family she's waited so patiently for. The cost of Rosetta's four-week boarding and training program has been generously discounted, but $1,500 is still needed to make this life-changing opportunity possible. Training is every bit as important as medical care for dogs like Rosetta. Some animals need surgery to heal their bodies. Rosetta needs guidance, confidence, and the chance to learn the skills that will help her leave shelter life behind forever. Your donation is an investment in Rosetta's future. Every dollar brings her one step closer to confidence, a loving home, and the life she's been waiting for. If you're unable to donate, sharing Rosetta's story is another wonderful way to help. Together, we can give this sweet girl the second chance she has waited nearly a year to receive. Because every dog deserves the opportunity to become someone's best friend. 7/21/26 Update Yesterday, Rosetta was celebrated exactly as she deserved. Her biggest advocate, Diann, surprised her with a beautiful cake decorated with roses to celebrate her final day at the shelter. For one unforgettable afternoon, Rosetta was the guest of honor. She even wore a crown for a little while—because every queen deserves one. While she certainly enjoyed her special treat, we have a feeling her favorite part was all the love. The hugs, the smiles, the extra attention, and being reminded just how many people are cheering her on. It was such a simple act of kindness, yet it meant so much. It was a beautiful reminder that one person really can change an animal’s world. Sometimes, all it takes is someone who believes they’re worth celebrating. Thank you, Diann, for making Rosetta feel so incredibly loved. Yesterday wasn’t just about cake—it was about reminding a very deserving dog that she matters. And judging by that smile, we’d say she knew it.

Sebastian

Sebastian is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Pittsburgh, PA, who needs $1,498 for Dental Extraction.

Pittsburgh, PA

My Sebastian came into my life in 2018 through a foster program Paws Across Pittsburgh. I fell in love with him from day one. He is very special to me, and it breaks my heart that I am currently not in a position to provide the help that he so desperately needs. He is an only child and I live alone and work from home, so we are together a great deal. I cannot imagine life without him at my side Unfortunately for the last few years he has been suffering from recurring Stomatitis due to dental issues, teeth that need to be extracted. I am seen at Cat Clinic and Hospital, where they are fantastic and caring. He typically receives antibiotic shots, sometimes fluids and that seems to help for a while. The visits have become more frequent lately unfortunately being this is a temporary fix. My Sebastian is a very special loving boy, he loves empty Amazon boxes, he loves his dad, he loves delectables, he loves bird-watching, and playing with laser toy. He is very vocal, and smart. It breaks my heart to see him want to eat and drink but simply can't as he used to because the pain gets so bad, and he looks to me with questioning eyes. Sebastian requires some dental extractions, and I have searched and searched for any kind of help out there. I live by myself, barely getting by without assistance from food pantry and pay-day loans. All I ask is for my special boy to not be in constant pain. Thank You.

Phool

A kind stranger found Phool collapsed on the roadside.

Kewaskum, WI • Pawsitive Sanctuary Inc

After being struck by a vehicle and left behind on a busy highway, Phool now needs an emergency amputation to save her life. Pawsitive Sanctuary refused to let her suffer any longer—but they can't do it without your help. A compassionate passerby discovered Phool lying on the side of the road, barely conscious after a driver hit her and fled the scene. She was alone, bleeding, and fighting to stay alive. Thankfully, she was rushed to Pawsitive Sanctuary, where their team immediately began assessing her condition. Along with her devastating injuries, they found she was severely underweight, dehydrated, and battling a heavy parasite burden after spending months trying to survive on the streets. X-rays confirmed that Phool's leg has been crushed beyond repair. The bones were shattered, the surrounding tissue had suffered extensive damage, and there was no possibility of saving the limb. Without emergency surgery, infection could spread throughout her body, causing unbearable pain and putting her life at even greater risk. Significant blood loss has also left her dangerously anemic, making every hour critical. Their veterinary team immediately started IV fluids, powerful pain relief, antibiotics, and supportive care to stabilize her while preparing for surgery. Her amputation is scheduled for this week, after which she'll begin a long road of rehabilitation, nutritional support, and parasite treatment to help her regain her strength and learn to thrive on three legs. The cost of Phool's surgery, hospitalization, medications, and follow-up care is expected to exceed $2,000. After caring for so many emergency rescues, their resources are running dangerously low—but turning their backs on Phool is simply not an option. She has already survived the unimaginable. Now she deserves the opportunity to heal and experience the love and safety she's never known. Please consider making a donation today to help cover Phool's lifesaving care. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps provide surgery, medications, and the ongoing treatment she urgently needs. Together, we can give Phool the second chance she's been waiting for, and we'll be with her every step of the way.

Civetta

Civetta is a 6 year old Manx in Madison, OH, who needs $3,500 for Hospitalization, IV Treatment, and Ultrasound.

Madison, OH

Civetta means "owl" in Italian. She got this name because she's got that unusual band of cream around her yellow eyes, and because she looks wise. And she is, she's been through a lot. Five years ago, she and her kitten were rescued from a storm drain. Her kitten found another home and I got her. And she's wonderful. Shy and fearful at first, she became a warm, cuddly, funny and fierce companion. At only six, she was diagnosed with liver disease. Her survival is about 50/50. No longer zooming, she is lethargic and barely eats. Her chances would improve if I could hospitalize her for at least one day, but that's $1000. Although she's in a loving home with 3 humans and four cats, she might not make it with outpatient treatment alone. She's too young to die and will be missed by all of us. Civetta has a sweet, distinctive meow that is deceiving...she'll only take so much BS. My male cat, Magpie found this out when he pushed her too far. She let out a Halloween-cat screech that scared him straight. He never chased her again. She's graceful and mild-mannered but holds her ground and is the queen bee of our crew. As you can see from the pictures, she is regal but unconventional. I work as a freelance editor and home health aide so my budget is limited. My work involves much driving and the cost of gas and groceries doesn't help. Aides don't get paid healthcare or sick days. Emergency eye surgery and expensive car repairs maxed out my credit.

Annie Oaks

Annie Oaks is a 11 year old Mix-Breed in Bristol, TN, who needs $9,800 for Menengioencephalitis Treament.

Bristol, TN

Annie Oaks is my 11 year old service companion. We met 11 years ago through an adoption event through Sullivan County Animal Shelter where I was volunteering. She assists me with my hearing disabilities and has become my protector, my best friend, my golf buddy and my ability to feel safe. I have trained her and she is a full fledged registered service animal. On May 16, 2026, my Annie collapsed and became unconscious. I took her to our local emergency vet where she was diagnosed with a neurological disease. I then took her to UT Veterinary hospital where after extensive workup and a week stay in ICU, she was diagnosed with menengioencephalitis. While on steroids, she contracted abscesses and had to return to UT on an emergency basis. Annie is a love bug to people she trusts. She is my golf partner and knows when I put my golf visor on, we are going to play. She is well known at Clear Creek Golf Club and out local TV station did a story about how much she loves the game. She has guarded my grandchildren when they were babies and has always alerted me if they were crying or distressed and what prompted me to train her. During the course of her treatment, I have exhausted my resources. I am on disability. Annie Oaks (named after Annie Oakley) is my lifeline when I'm out by myself. I need her and rely on her. She is a fighter with this illness and I am giving her the chance.

Hope

Help Us Rewrite Hope's Story

Missoula, MT • WOOF TRIBE SANCTUARY & RESCUE INC

This is Hope. She is a tiny, less than a year old puppy, and has already endured more than any dog should. When Hope arrived in our care, it was immediately clear that this was not a simple medical case. Her entire body is affected by a severe case of Demodex mange, complicated by a massive secondary skin infection and a painful ear infection. Her skin is inflamed, raw, and uncomfortable from head to tail. The discomfort she was experiencing was more than any young dog should know. The good news is that Hope is finally safe and receiving veterinary care. The reality, however, is that her recovery will be long and expensive. Her first veterinary visit alone totaled $1,250. Based on her bloodwork, our veterinary team is concerned she may also be battling Ehrlichia, a serious tick-borne disease. Her red and white blood cell counts were dangerously low, meaning she will require ongoing monitoring, additional diagnostics, and bi-weekly rechecks estimated at approximately $500 per visit. Hope's treatment plan includes intensive medical management, medications to address her infections and mange, nutritional support, regular veterinary evaluations, and weeks of careful observation. We anticipate her recovery will take at least 6-8 weeks before she is healthy enough to undergo her spay surgery. Despite everything she has been through, Hope remains gentle and easy to handle. That quiet strength is what gives us confidence that she can recover with the right care and support. Woof Tribe Animal Sanctuary is already stretched thin caring for parvo puppies, orthopedic cases, cancer patients, and countless other animals in need. But when we saw Hope, walking away was never an option. Now we need your help. Every donation will go directly toward Hope's veterinary care and recovery. Every contribution helps ensure that we never have to cut corners on the treatment she needs. Hope's journey is just beginning, but with your support, her future can look very different from her past. Please donate today and help us give Hope the healthy, happy life she deserves.
