Starr Needs Help Eating Again: Treatment for Painful Stomatitis

Starr has been part of the Adopt a Cat Foundation family for some time. After becoming the store cat, Starr found a loving long-term foster home where he could enjoy the comfort and companionship he deserves. Starr was already known to be FIV-positive and diabetic, but he is now facing another painful medical condition: stomatitis, a severe inflammation of the mouth that can make eating extremely painful. Recently, Starr stopped eating, and his foster caregiver’s mobile veterinarian recognized that something was wrong. He was rushed to MedVet, where he was hospitalized for two days and diagnosed with stomatitis. Thankfully, Starr is now stable enough to continue his care with Adopt a Cat Foundation, but his medical journey is not over. Once he is feeling stronger, Starr will need a full-mouth extraction (FME) to address the painful dental and oral disease. This procedure is an important part of helping cats with severe stomatitis find relief and return to eating comfortably. With his existing diabetes and FIV, Starr already needs ongoing veterinary monitoring and care. Now, he needs treatment for this painful condition so he can get back to enjoying his days as the affectionate, special boy everyone knows and loves. We want Starr to be comfortable. We want him to eat without pain. And we want him to have the best quality of life possible. Help Senior Yvette Get the Care She Deserves Here in Texas, temperatures have been climbing above 100 degrees for weeks, with very little relief even at night. For stray cats living on the streets, the heat can be unbearable. Last night, one senior cat, who we named Yvette, made her way to us, and we knew we couldn't turn her away. Yvette is a senior girl who is sweet, exhausted, and clearly in need of help. She is not spayed, and she arrived sick and worn down after surviving on the streets. While we work to piece together her story and actively search for anyone who may be looking for her, we knew she needed help immediately. Yvette is now at our veterinarian receiving much-needed medical attention and a safe place to rest and recover. So far, Yvette has received subcutaneous fluids, full-panel bloodwork, a fecal test, an antibiotic injection, and steroids. She is currently taking another antibiotic to help treat her illness and the respiratory symptoms she is experiencing. If the antibiotics don't resolve her congestion and nasal discharge, she may need additional PCR testing to determine what is causing her symptoms. Yvette also has stomatitis, a painful inflammation of the mouth. Once she is stable and has gained some weight, she will need a dental procedure to address this condition. Her veterinary estimate is already $700, and her medical needs are likely to continue as we work to get this sweet senior girl healthy. Help 44 CATS. ONE HUGE MISSION

CLEWISTON, FL • Clewiston Friends of Animals, Inc

For the cats of Clewiston, August 31 was a life-changing day. Clewiston Friends of Animals held a much-needed TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) event, and thanks to an incredible amount of determination, 44 community cats received lifesaving care. But getting those 44 cats to the clinic was anything but easy. The weather was working against the trapping efforts, and then a camera lens broke, making it even harder to document the work. And just when everything was ready for the big day, there was another major setback: the alternator on the mobile veterinary unit that was supposed to come to Clewiston failed. The team could have given up. Instead, they improvised. They found and loaded three different vehicles with transporters and made the nearly two-hour trip to Port Charlotte with all 44 cats so they could still receive the veterinary care they had worked so hard to arrange. Talk about dedication! ❤️ And it was all worth it. On August 31, these cats received spay/neuter surgery along with additional preventative care, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, ear tipping, and microchipping. The veterinary invoice totals $3,235 for the 44 cats. Each cat who was spayed or neutered represents fewer unwanted kittens being born into an already overwhelming population. TNVR also gives community cats a chance to remain where they are while helping create healthier, more stable colonies. 44 cats. 44 chances to stop the cycle of endless litters. 44 animals who now have a better chance at a healthier future. Clewiston Friends of Animals put in the miles, the time, the physical work, and the determination to make this happen. Now they need our help covering the veterinary costs. Help Summer Take His Next Steps on Three Legs

When Flopsy’s Friends Foundation took in Summer, a young kitten with a serious nerve injury affecting one of his legs, amputation had already been recommended. But with no broken bones, the rescue wanted to give Summer every reasonable opportunity to keep his leg. They chose to give him time, supportive care, and physical therapy, hoping his damaged nerves might recover enough for him to regain function. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, Summer’s injured leg has become severely contracted. At this point, it’s clear that the leg cannot be saved, and amputation is now the best option to give Summer a comfortable, active future. It’s a difficult outcome after everyone at Flopsy’s Friends Foundation had hoped so strongly that his leg could recover. While they know this little fighter can have a wonderful life on three legs, it’s still hard knowing that Summer will have to undergo surgery after everything he has already been through. Thankfully, Summer is young, resilient, and has so much life ahead of him. Once his damaged leg is removed and he has time to recover, he’ll be able to begin adjusting to life as a tripod with the support of the rescue behind him every step of the way. Funds raised through Summer’s Waggle campaign will help cover the cost of his leg amputation and the veterinary care needed throughout his recovery. Phineas Was Starving and Almost Furless—Now He Needs Our Help Again

You have never met a sweeter cat than Phineas. About a month ago, this incredibly sweet boy wandered up to one of Murdock’s Mission’s colony feeding stations. He was starving and desperately begging for food, and it was immediately clear that he needed more help than a meal could provide. Phineas was covered in ringworm from head to toe and had lost nearly all of his fur, leaving him almost completely naked. We scooped him up and brought him to safety right away. Once he was in our care, we learned that Phineas was barely a year old and FIV positive. FIV doesn't scare us, especially when we meet a cat as loving and gentle as Phinn, but he was already fighting one health issue—and then we discovered another. Phineas was also diagnosed with juvenile gingivitis, a painful condition that can cause significant inflammation in the mouth and lead to more serious dental problems if it isn't treated. The good news is that Phineas has finally started winning his battle with ringworm! 🎉 His fur is coming back, he's safe, and he's getting the care he deserves. Now it's time to take care of his next medical need: dental surgery. Depending on how many teeth need to be removed, Phineas's dental procedure is expected to cost approximately $300–$600. For a young cat who has already been through so much, getting this care now can help prevent ongoing pain and additional problems down the road. We’re fundraising to help cover Phineas’s upcoming dental surgery, which is expected to cost up to $600, as well as the veterinary care and ringworm treatment he has already received since coming into our care. Carl Was Hit by a Car—Help Cover His Lifesaving Care

At just five months old, sweet Carl was hit by a car and left with devastating injuries that required immediate, lifesaving veterinary care. As a young kitten, he should have been spending his days chasing toys and discovering the world, not fighting to survive. When we took Carl in at RU4ME Pet Rescue, we knew he was in serious trouble. When we took Carl in, we knew he was in serious trouble. His mouth had been degloved, meaning the tissue of his lower lip had been pulled away from the underlying tissue, leaving it badly injured. He also had broken teeth that needed to be removed, and his leg was so severely damaged that it had to be amputated. Carl underwent emergency surgery to give him the chance to survive and begin healing. His lower lip required sutures to reattach it, his damaged teeth were removed, and his injured leg was amputated. These were not optional procedures—they were the care Carl needed after being struck by a vehicle. Through it all, Carl has fought to keep going. At just five months old, he has already endured more pain and trauma than any kitten should ever have to experience. But thanks to the veterinary team who treated him, Carl is alive and has the opportunity to heal. We have already spent $1,241 on Carl’s lifesaving veterinary care, and now we need our community’s help to cover that expense. We hate having to ask for donations, but these are the emergencies that keep us going. When an animal like Carl needs immediate care, we cannot wait until we have the money, we have to say yes and get them the help they need. Meet Tiger. This sweet young adult boy has had a really rough go of it—and we're determined to make sure his story has a happy ending. Tiger was originally picked up as a stray and taken to a local shelter. He was adopted, but sadly, he was later picked up as a stray again. This time, he was in terrible shape. Tiger had suffered severe trauma to one of his eyes. He had multiple lacerations to the eyeball, along with bulging, bleeding, and extensive damage. He was in obvious pain and needed emergency surgery. The shelter wasn't equipped to handle the level of emergency care Tiger needed, so they reached out to Spicy Whiskers for help. Of course we said yes. We didn't have a plan for this unexpected medical expense. We didn't know how we were going to pay for it. But Tiger was hurting, and we simply couldn't walk away. He was rushed to our veterinary partner for immediate surgery to remove his severely damaged eye and, most importantly, relieve his pain. And through all of it, Tiger remained incredibly sweet and trusting of humans. Think about that for a moment. Even while he was in tremendous pain, frightened, and dealing with a devastating injury, Tiger continued to trust the people trying to help him. ❤️ Now we're giving him something he hasn't had enough of in his young life: A chance. A chance to heal. A chance to be pain-free. A chance to have a safe, loving home. A chance to finally be someone's forever cat. Tiger didn't ask for any of this. We didn't plan for another emergency.
