Chopo

Chopo is a 5-month-old American Bully in Norwood, NC, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Repair of Right Elbow.

Norwood, NC

Chopo was a gift to me and my children. my children were the ones to name him. We have only had Chopo for a month and he fits into our family perfectly. He is an American pocket bully. Chopo is so loving and smart. he loves to make zoo miss outside with my children and loves to go on rides in the car. Chopo sleeps in a crate because although he goes outside to pee he does sometimes make mistakes. He loves to sit on the couch and cuddle. Chopo enjoys to be around people. We once took him into the store and he loved the attention and love he got from people. We also have another dog that has also grown attached to chopo. It’s so cute watching play and make zoomies together. Chopo is special because he is smart and his barks sound like a car with bad brakes. Chopo has beautiful eyes and has the cutest overbite. Being that he is short, chubby, and bow legged it is so funny to see him make his zoomies around the house. We haven’t gotten to learn more about him since we have had him for a short period of time before this accident. Chopo was outside playing and when it was time for him to come in we found him lying at the door trying to stand up. I took him to the veterinary clinic and after X-rays determined that chopo fractured his elbow. The vet sent the X-rays to a veterinary specialist and the doctor there recommended for Chopo to have surgery since it was an articular fracture. I lost my job about a month ago and can’t afford my poor puppy’s surgery. This happened so unexpectedly. I am suppose to start a job in 2 weeks. It would means so much to me but also my children to see chopo lead a life without pain and discomfort.

Photo of Klara

Klara

Klara is a 13-year-old Black Russian Terrier in Norwood, PA, who needs $1,450 for V-plasty.

Norwood, PA

Klara came into our lives when she was 4 years old, as a rescue from a breeder. The breeder said she was not like her other dogs- Klara identifies more like a human and really prefers to spend time with people. She is a quiet lady who just wants to be wherever her human family is at the time. She also has two adopted sisters to keep her company. Klara's favorite thing in the world is to go for a ride in the car! She could be in a deep sleep but the sound of keys makes her come alive. She jumps and spins around and barks- she can hardly contain herself! It is a joy to watch the great pleasure and happiness she gets from even the shortest road trip. Klara's best gift is her intuition. She can easily sense the energy of those around her. If there is a stressful situation in her human family, especially her dog mom, she has a way of herding you to the sofa, and once you are seated, she immediately hops onto your lap and lays her head on your chest. She provides such a sense of love and calm- it works every time! Klara has a large tumor on the inner lining of her bottom eyelid. The tumor has gotten so big, so quickly, and while it is not yet causing her to lose her vision, it is definitely painful and uncomfortable. The great news is that Klara's condition is treatable! Her expressive eyes are saying -help! After searching high and low, I was able to find a specialist to treat her. We are fully committed to caring for our three rescues. Unfortunately, the recent medical needs of our other geriatric girl have used up all of our resources- and now we are struggling to take care of Klara's tumor. We love her so much and would be grateful for any help.

Lucy

Lucy is a 13-year-old Border Collie Mix in Spokane , WA, who needs $800 for Mass Removal.

Spokane, WA

Lucy is a rescue that came into our lives 13 years ago. She loves to play frisbee, snag dryer sheets from the dryer and doggy treats. She has 3 doggy sisters and 1 doggy brother along with 4 kitty sisters and 2 kitty brothers. We all love her so much. We want her so badly to get the care that she needs. Lucy's job is to protect our property from coyotes. She loves to play with her sister and never leaves her side, even while sleeping. She tells us what she needs by perking her ears up and tilting her head. She'll be the first one to snag treats from you, watch your fingers. She also loves to roll or rub against anything or anyone that smells good. To Lucy, everyone is her friend. For some funny reason, she won't drink water unless is comes out of the water faucet outside or if it has ice in the bowl. During the winter her favorite thing to do is eat snow and ice. Goofy girl, every time she thinks there is food, she comes running. Show her a frisbee, she's ready to play. Lucy has high liver enzymes and may need to be treated for possible cushings disease. She also needs to go through a three hour testing before she can have a very large skin tag surgically removed off of her leg. Being on SSI, it is very hard to come up with the finances to pay for any of the procedures that need to be done. Without Lucy in our family, we would not feel complete. With help we would be able to help her be more comfortable and happier until her final days.

Ginger

Ginger is a 12-year-old Australian Shep/Mix in Ogden, UT, who needs $1,238 for Tumor Removal.

ogden, UT

We rescued Ginger when she was 6 months old. She had been previously abused and took awhile to warm up to us but when she did she was the sweetest girl. She has been such a good girl it convinced us to get 2 other dogs! I fell in love with Ginger because she looked like a dog I had when I was a child. Ginger loves being around people. She sits at our feet and follows us around. She loves people food even though she isn’t allowed to have to it. She will sit in front of you while you are eating just hoping for scraps! Ginger is part heeler. Sometimes she will herd me to another room when she is ready for quiet time. When she does it looks like she is nipping at my ankles. Ginger has two dog friends in the house that play all the time. She avoids them when they play as she just wants to chill most of the time. She will tease her cat friend sometimes by standing in her way and pretending to chase her. We can’t imagine a life without Ginger as she has been with us for 12 years. Her mellow attitude and chill personality really complete our family. We have two kiddos Ginger has a tumor on her right shoulder that is fast growing. We visited the vet in January but before we were able to schedule her surgery to remove it, it started to split open. It needs to be removed asap. The tumor is benign so we want to remove it. She has more years to her. We need her. We recently had a very unexpected expensive car repair. We haven’t had a chance to bounce back and this can’t wait. Cost of living is setting us back as well. We have a 9 month old that uses formula.

Porsche

Porsche is a 9-month-old Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix in Imperial Beach, CA, who needs $1,800 for Parvo Treatment.

imperial beach, CA • Save our Sheps rescue

This is Miss Porsche (Pour-sha). She came into the shelter with an embedded collar wound around her neck and appeared neglected. Our Rescue decided to take chance on Porsche, but little did we know, things were about to take a turn. Porsche started to decline within a couple days in her foster (potential adopter's) home. That is when we found out she been exposed to Parvo before our intake. For the few days that we have had Porsche, her foster mom said she had already fallen in love with her. She is so sweet and lovely. Her foster mom stated Porsche would start to cower when she had an accident or threw up in the house. On our end, this made us very sad because her past did not look pretty. We can only hope to give her the best chance at life and a beautiful future to come. Porsche likes to stick her tongue out for pictures and she has a tail wag like no other. Watch out! you may get hit in the face with it! She is spunky, yet very intuitive. She is very loyal and will protect her family if need be. Porsche deserves a fighting chance and we want to give her that chance, but we need your help. Porsche is currently being hospitalized for Parvo. Though no fault of her own, her previous owner failed her by not getting her properly vaccinated. Save our Sheps rescue really wants to help her pull through this. She deserves a fighting chance and a happy ending. Throughout my experience as a former animal control officer, I have always had the passion to save lives and rehabilitate those animals that need us the most. Porsche right now needs us the most. We need help raising funds to get her through this storm.
