Sam is a sweet stray cat I’ve been caring for outside for the past three years. Over that time, he has completely won my heart. He is incredibly sweet, loving, and affectionate. He wants to be by your side getting pets. Despite living his life outdoors, Sam has so much love to give, and after years of looking out for him, I want to give him the chance at the safe, loving home he deserves. After Sam was attacked by a dog, the tip of his tail was too badly injured to heal. I brought him to the Arizona Humane Society, where he was evaluated and will receive his care. Sam needs a tail tip amputation, several dental extractions, and removal of a mass on his ear. Thankfully, he is now in great hands and will finally receive the medical care he needs to heal and have a fresh start. My bond with Sam is special because, for three years, he has chosen to trust me and has become family. Unfortunately, he can’t safely live indoors with us because our rescue dog is not good with cats. As much as I would love to keep him, Sam’s safety comes first. I want to give him what I can’t—a safe, loving home where he will never have to live outside or wonder where he belongs again. I care for a colony of neighborhood cats who depend on me daily for food and care, which I provide myself. Sam’s medical needs are more than I can take on alone. I’m asking my community to help give Sam a second chance while I continue caring for the cats who need me.

Winston is our shy man, he came from a rescue situation so he is known to pancake when things get to loud but is the sweetest boy ever! He loves to cuddle with his brother and his cat siblings. He always makes us laugh and we can imagine our lives without him. Winston has a mass on his tail, we had a consultation with the surgeon at the vet and they have determined that he needs a tail amputation. We didnt want to go this route but since it is affect him healing wise and painwise we know we need to do this for him. We are going to a local hospital for these services, our family vet. The amputation will take away his pain and he will be able to wag his tail again. We want to see him jumping around and running again, see our spirited Winnie. We were quoted $4,000, and that was quite a shock. We are looking for any help we can with his surgery.

How could the world be so cruel to this innocent little puppy? A good Samaritan found Jack, a young puppy who had clearly just experienced the worst the world could have dealt him. Flies swarmed around him as he lay on the ground, shaking, with blood dripping down his body from a severely injured eye. Seeing him in tremendous pain and fear, we knew we had to step in and give him the treatment he desperately needed. Jack needs emergency eye surgery now. When we arrived at the scene, after a good Samaritan informed us, the sight truly broke our hearts. Jack was crying and begging for help, with blood dripping down his body from his torturously painful eye injury, all while flies swarmed his body as if he was already dead. No one witnessed what happened; they simply found him like this. It makes our blood boil thinking about what horrors could've left this tiny pup in this condition. Regardless, we knew we had to step up and help him, so we quickly took him in. Sadly, one of the first discoveries we made was that Jack's eye could not be saved, and in order to help calm his pain, he would need it removed… Jack now needs immediate hospitalization and eye removal surgery to relieve his suffering and give him the chance to heal. We know this is going to take a massive amount of financial resources, which we do not have enough of on our own, but that is not going to stop us. Jack deserves a proper puppyhood, playing with toys and giving an unbridled amount of love. We will not stop fighting for him. Please consider donating toward Jack's hospital bill and surgery. Help Pearl With Her Tail Amputation & Recovery

Pearl's tail never seems to stop wagging, but the very thing that shows how happy she is has become a painful medical problem. Pearl came into Rags to Riches' care more than three years ago carrying both physical and emotional scars from her past. She was underweight, struggled with severe skin and allergy issues, and would cower if she thought someone was upset with her or raised something over her head. Despite everything she had experienced, Pearl quickly showed everyone what a remarkably gentle and affectionate girl she is. Her rescuers lovingly describe her as a "stage 5 clinger," and at around 55 pounds, this Boxer/American Bully mix has never seemed to realize she might be a little too big to stick quite so close. Pearl's medical journey has already included treatment for her chronic skin and allergy problems, eye surgery, and a difficult recovery from her spay that led to repeated problems with her incision and required additional veterinary care. More recently, Pearl developed another painful problem: happy tail. Happy tail happens when a dog wags their tail so enthusiastically that it repeatedly strikes walls, furniture, crates, or other hard surfaces. Over time, the end of the tail can split open and bleed. Because the tail continues wagging and hitting things, these injuries can be incredibly difficult to heal. That's exactly what has been happening to Pearl. Her tail has been breaking open and bleeding again and again, sometimes every single day. Her rescue has tried wrapping and protecting it, but even with their best efforts, Pearl continues to reopen the injury. Eventually, they had to consider something they had desperately hoped to avoid: surgically amputating the injured portion of her tail so it could finally heal. Pearl has undergone extensive veterinary care surrounding her latest medical needs, including pre-surgical bloodwork and coagulation testing, anesthesia, surgery, medications, and post-operative treatment. Her current veterinary expenses total more than $1,600. Through all of it, Pearl is still Pearl: affectionate, gentle, a little goofy, and happiest when she can be close to the people she trusts. After everything this sweet girl has already overcome, her rescue wants nothing more than to get her comfortable again and put this painful chapter behind her. Meet Aang! His forehead arrow reminded us of the Last Airbender character, so the name stuck. He’s a total goofball who doesn't loaf—he "chickens"! We rescued Aang at about 6 weeks old from the side of the road, he was covered in cuts and had severe eye infections. We nursed him back to health, and a week later, his adoptive sister Rocki joined our family. Aang suffered a life-threatening urinary blockage. We rushed him to urgent care to stabilize him, then to a vet the next morning for surgery. Tragically, he re-blocked and needed a second emergency surgery and extra hospital stay. Exactly one week after this nightmare started, his procedures are done and he can finally come home today! Two years ago, we suddenly lost Aang’s adoptive sister, Rocki, when she was only a year old. It was unexpected and devastating for our whole family. We were heartbroken that we couldn't save Rocki, but thanks to the vet team, Aang pulled through his surgeries. He is a resilient survivor who means the world to us. We are facing severe financial hardship with limited income and an ongoing legal battle over our housing. Stray Dog Support rescued Fern from the streets of Cairo. Since her rescue, Fern has been in and out of hospital fighting through unimaginable pain and medical challenges. She recently returned to the hospital and has been struggling. She is depressed, barely eating, and has lost a significant amount of weight. Her anemia and blood parasites continue to make her extremely vulnerable, which means they cannot proceed with the amputation surgery she desperately needs right now. Fern has already endured major surgery following her CT scan, when surgeons discovered that part of her thoracic duct was completely damaged and torn. Fluid was continuously leaking into her chest and putting severe pressure around her lungs. The surgeons repaired the damaged area, removed the fluid surrounding her lungs, and placed a chest drain to prevent further dangerous buildup. After speaking with her veterinary team, they have decided to remove Fern from hospital and return her to home boarding for a while. They are hoping that being somewhere quieter and more comfortable will help her regain her strength, appetite and spirit. They are trying to stay hopeful, but right now her broken body is winning this battle. But SDS is not giving up and could desperately use your help to fight for Fern. My name is Rodney Krimmel&I have had Stormy since she was a baby. A friends' dog had her and it was love at first sight. My daughter immediately saw Stormy&claimed her as her "sissy. Stormy is a spunky girl! She enjoys trying to chase cars. She insists she can take on any animal she sees on tv. She is a little dog with a big personality! She loves to chase you around while throwing her toys. Stormy stopped eating and we took her to the vet. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetic ketoacidosis, which can be fatal. She was then sent to Urgent Pet Care of Papillion. She had low electrolytes and her blood glucose was 525. She was immediately started on antibiotics and an insulin drip. She was in the hospital for 2 days. Now she will be getting insulin shots twice a day for life. Stormy has been in our lives since the day she was born. We immediately fell in love with her and she grew up along side my daughter, who was three when we added her to our family. The joy that she has brought to our lives cannot be expressed in words. Stormy was in the hospital for 2 days. Alongside her ER stay, she will need insulin 2ce a day, along with regular glucose testing until her body adjusts. She will have to be put on a prescription diet. The cost of living has gone up so much, it's almost impossible.
