When Vonda arrived in the care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare, she was suffering from severe wounds across her chest and front leg. Based on her history and the appearance of her injuries, the veterinary team believes Vonda’s wounds are burns. The damaged areas are extensive and painful, leaving her in need of careful wound management and continued veterinary attention as her body begins to heal. Thankfully, there is one encouraging piece of news: Vonda’s bloodwork did not show any significant abnormalities. Despite the condition of her wounds, her body is holding strong. Her veterinary team has begun treating the injured areas with appropriate medication and soothing wound care to protect her skin, prevent infection, and make her as comfortable as possible. Vonda was also found with a severe tick infestation, adding yet another challenge to her recovery. She has now received treatment to address that as well. Healing from injuries like Vonda’s won’t happen overnight. Her wounds will need continued dressing, monitoring, and care to ensure they heal properly and complications don’t develop. Help Reeshy Get Back on Her Feet

At just seven months old, Reeshy should be running and discovering the world around her. Instead, this young girl is struggling to use her back legs. Reeshy came into the care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare after falling from a slab earlier this month. Following the accident, it became clear that something was seriously wrong. She was having difficulty walking and struggling to put weight on her hind legs. A veterinary examination revealed an even greater concern: Reeshy’s reflexes in her back end were extremely weak or absent, indicating that she had suffered an injury to her spinal cord. For such a young dog, this is a frightening and uncertain diagnosis. Right now, the focus is on giving Reeshy every opportunity to recover and regain as much strength and mobility as possible. Her veterinary team has started treatment to reduce inflammation around her spinal cord, protect her from infection, and support her nerves as her body begins the healing process. She will need continued care and close monitoring to see how she responds and what the future may hold for her mobility. Help Little Dude Get His Smile Back

Little Dude has been a fighter since he was just four days old. The runt of his litter, Little Dude was discovered on a farm with a severe bacterial infection in his back leg after his siblings had chewed at it, leaving both the wound and bone underneath infected. Thankfully, a compassionate visitor saw that this tiny piglet desperately needed help and reached out to Barn Sanctuary who rescued him, giving him the chance at life he deserved. Now 9 years old, Little Dude has grown into a very big boy with an equally big personality — but unfortunately, his health challenges haven’t ended. Years ago, Little Dude fractured one of his tusks, requiring ongoing dental care. He has also struggled with painful gum disease that has already caused him to lose several teeth. For pigs like Little Dude, dental disease isn’t simply cosmetic. Without proper treatment, it can cause chronic pain, make eating difficult, and seriously affect their overall health and quality of life. Recently, Little Dude returned to Michigan State University’s Veterinary Medical Center for another much-needed dental procedure. Veterinarians extracted a troublesome molar and smoothed down overgrown teeth to make eating more comfortable. While he was under anesthesia, they also removed a small growth near his ear as a precaution. Thankfully, Little Dude handled everything like a champ and returned home with a favorable prognosis — and a healthy appetite for applesauce and pumpkin puree! But specialized veterinary care for a 726-pound pig isn’t inexpensive, and Little Dude will continue to need dental monitoring. At just 7 months old, Stormy was hit by a car and left injured on the side of the road. Thankfully, Ramapo-Bergen Animal Rescue stepped in, and this sweet girl is finally in safe hands. Stormy was rushed to the hospital, where the first priority was getting her out of pain. She underwent X-rays and critical diagnostics to determine the extent of her injuries and what she’ll need to heal. Right now, Stormy is hurting and scared. Darcy is my 14-year-old baby. She is the sweetest cat and my little shadow. She greets me every morning and every time I come home with the loudest meows and requests for belly rubs. She has the goofiest personality and can always be found purring next to me. After surgery failed to get clean margins, Darcy will require 15 radiation sessions to battle adenocarcinoma – a somewhat rare cancer that began in her third eyelid. Her radiation sessions will take place at Cornell University Hospital for Animals. She will have to go to the hospital everyday Monday through Friday for three weeks. Darcy has been with me since the time I moved to my first apartment and took my first job. I adopted her because every home needs a cat and she has been with me through every step of my adult life. This treatment is just beyond the scope of what I can afford. I already spent $3,200 for surgery hoping we would be able to remove all the cancer, but we did not receive clean margins. That is not going to stop me from getting Darcy the radiation she needs.

Myla was originally going to be our son's dog. He was going into the marines and got her for us to train while he was at boot camp. He ended up getting an honorable discharge and moved back home. When he was ready to move out Myla was already a part of our pack and she stayed with us. She loves to boss around the grandkids and keep them in line! Myla knows over 500 words and sign language! Myla has been diagnosed with mammary carcinosarcoma. She has already had the surgery to remove the tumors. A week after the surgery she popped her staples while going potty. The incision was then found to have 2 different infections. The site was debrieved and treated for the infection. After 3 weeks of wound care she is all healed up. Now the tumors are back. There is hope though with treatment. Myla is such a wonderful sweet girl with a heart of gold! Her favorite thing in the world is going to work with mom. (I work at a nursing facility.) She loves to interact with the residents. She is really tuned in to feelings of those around her and often lends a loving paw to grieving family members. We have already spent over $4000 on Myla's vet bills in the last month. The treatment she needs will cost an additional $12,900-$15,300. We just can not afford all of that without help. We have exhausted all of our savings and are taking out loans but it isn't enough. We can't just give up on her! She is so happy and such a wonderful friend to all her residents!

I found him under a tree last night and noticed his arm it got significantly bigger over night. I would love to keep him for my children they have even given him the name yayo. I don’t want anything to happen to him as it would be greatly painful for my children and I to experience that as we are animal lovers. So if you could please help this trying mama. I don’t quite know his diagnosis as i don’t have the funds right now to take him to vet. It looks as if it is a bite of some sort. He could walk on it last night but by this morning the poor baby shoulder doubled in size and he doesn’t walk on it any longer. My kids stayed up all night despite having school this morning worrying about him. If we could get this baby some help I would gladly take on his responsibility and give him a loving home. Im a single Mom of twins that just started pre-k this year. So I dont have the means to right now. If i could I would hesitate to help this poor baby. Im willing to pay back once I get paid next week or set up some kind of repayment plan.

Chango is one of our 3 pitbull babies. He’s been in our life since he was 2 weeks old due to the mom not liking him biting the nipple and had to be bottle fed until he could eat solids as a pup. He’s had no health issues or allergies these past 8 years, until of recent. He has 3 partial clogs in his intestines and needs surgery as soon as possible, unfortunately cannot afford the bill that shown. Many doctors were called in the area and the procedure couldn’t be done or all the after care wasn’t available post surgery. He is our 1st dog, and has been with us for over 8 years. It’s very unfortunate to see him at this age suffer from the pain, nausea and complications from this injury. We don’t have insurance or the approval for crediting such as scratch pay and other dog creditors. We were only able to temporarily afford to stabilize him with the available funding.
