The other night, a neighbor was startled by the sound of a dog screaming in pain. When our volunteer rushed outside, he saw an intoxicated man nearby. Not thinking too much of it, he returned to his house. A few days later, Parker, the drunk man’s dog, returned with devastating injuries including deep lacerations that appear to have been intentionally inflicted. The wounds were severe, and by the time he was found again, they had already begun to show signs of infection. Thanks to the quick actions of compassionate rescuers at Stray Animal Foundation of India, Parker was rushed to the veterinary clinic, where his emergency treatment began immediately. He is receiving wound care, pain management, antibiotics, and the medical attention he desperately needs to give his body a chance to heal. No animal deserves to suffer at the hands of cruelty. Parker has already endured far too much unimaginable pain, but with proper veterinary care, he has a chance to recover both physically and emotionally. Emergency treatment is expensive, and every day of care matters. Your donation can help cover Parker’s medical expenses and ensure he continues receiving the lifesaving treatment he needs. Laila

Laila is a 5 year old American Bulldog in Lawrenceburg, KY, who needs $901 for Emergency Spay for Pyometra.

Laila was a puppy from a litter that I bred.. I could not sell her and got stuck with her because she had a crick in her tail and would not be able tocompete in shows. Today, I am glad that she had that crook in her tail! She has become my best friend, and has saved my life in more ways than one. Laila is an only pet. And is very territorial with any other animals.. On Feb 20 Laila had to have an emergency spay surgery for pyometria. without the surgery, she would not have made it through that day. I explained to the vet that I did not have the money upfront to pay for the surgery., they insisted on doing it anyway. Now, 4 days later they are saying they are keeping my dog until I pay $500 of the $901 vet bill to Danville KY Animal Clinic. She is very spoiled, and lazy! lol But she get nothing but Love and attention all day, everyday. Laila is also my emotional support animal. When I’m sad or stressed, she knows it. That’s when she will waddle to me for rubs, hugs, and loves. These last 4 days have been hard without her. So I can’t imagine never getting her back bc I simply don’t have the money to pay the vet. Having Laila well and back home again will be a huge releif. I am forever grateful to the vet who did the surgery. They saved her life! When no other vet would do it.. but they should have been clear about the payment in the beginning. I’m just ready for her to come home.!

Zelda is a stunning young lady who came into our program due to her owner leaving a poor/unsafe living situation. Zelda is currently with our rescue and in an amazing foster home where she is the only dog and is deeply loved by not only her fosters but our team as well. She has several people waiting to meet her to hopefully be the perfect match for this girl to find her forever home. Zelda loves everyone and everything. She is working through trusting people and learning all about life, but this girl has a heart bigger than life itself. Despite having the leave the family she's known her short life, she has shown she is resilient and she keeps her foster mom active with walks, play, and helping her recover from her hip surgery. Zelda is special because she embodies resilience. Despite working through fear herself, she always shows love. She is very loyal and attentive and loves being around her people. She has adjusted so well to the life changes she has experienced and has such an amazing life ahead of her. Zelda came to our organization as a 17 week old pup. She started showing symptoms of parvo and we immediately took her to our vet where she tested positive for parvo. We were able to catch the virus in its early stages and she is currently in observation and care at Animal Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN and has received the monoclonal antibody to work on beating the virus. As a 501(c)3 we rely solely on donations to operate. During the month of January our rescue saved over 80 animals - animals scheduled for euthanasia, neglect cases, and/or diagnosed with medical needs - this large intake has nearly exhausted our funds.

Doug

On my birthday, July 2020 my granddaughter Caty convinced me to get a dog. I'd been thinking about for a long time. I was a pretty chipper 74 year old. At the shelter I was overwhelmed at my attraction to litter of mixed breed terriers, 9 weeks old. There were 5 of 9 left. Never having raised dogs before, I chose 2. This was going to be fun. I was really excited when I got Doug and Randy home. I couldn't go 6 mo. w/o some diseaster. Stone swallowed, Intestine disorder( both dogs) tooth extraction (Doug "baby tooth"did not come out). I've spent thousands at VCA Flannery. In 2024 Doug tore up his leg (tech jargon) "stifle effusion & degenerative joint disease w?disuse muscle atrophy to right pelvic limb". I was ref to Hudson Highlands VMG Consult & pre-op $498. Tibial Plateau Surg. $5824. These dogs have become my babies. I live alone so I have them to come home to. I live in a mobile home at the edge of the park, so these dogs are gifted with a huge backyard in which to run. I spend lots of hours doing meal prep. Only fresh meats and veg. They literally my family. I didn't realize the cost of owning dogs. I am broke. I'm 78 yrs. old. No pension. Live on S.S. and part-time schoolbus driving. Right now my only goal is to get Doug well. He is such a lovable guy. He's on pain med., but he's only a shadow of what he was.

Winnie

Winnie is a 3-year-old French Bulldog in Lynwood, IL, who needs $2,000 for IVDD Surgery.

We rescued Winnie at 8 weeks old from a puppy mill breeder in Illinois. Winnie is a member of the family and it is very heart breaking to see her in this condition. She can no longer walk which is causing anxiety amongst other issue (incontinence, rash, uti's. Winnie has IVDD and the surgery cost 12,000, which is very unaffordable. We do not want to euthanize our pet and we dont her suffering. My children are so heart broken to see their family member in pain and it further makes it hard for me and my husband. Winnie comes from love and we have to watch her go through this condition everyday. She is a great family pet and great for my anxiety. My dog is special because she is an emotional support dog for me. I have suffered from anxiety since the passing of my son Kendall and having Winnie has helped me tremendously. My children love Winnie dearly and she brings us all such joy. WInnie loves to snuggle and give doggie kisses to everyone she meets. My dog has IVDD which can be cured with surgery of her disc in the back. I took her to a neurologist amongst other visits. We had to try medication because surgery was is too expensive. The medicine is not improving her condition and now she is suffering from other conditions because of the IVDD. My husband also got hurt at work so we are down to one income. This economy and grocery are sky high, which has taken away all emergency money. The children are on the way back to school, so all money has to go towards education at this point.

Riley

Riley is a 5-year-old Boxer in Oceanside, CA, who needs $2,000 for Gallbladder Surgery.

We rescued Riley in 2020. She spent her early life in a homeless encampment and was attacked by multiple dogs when rescued and bother of her front legs were broken in the attack. She quickly become a huge part of our family as we helped her recover from her injuries. She is now a happy loving pup that is a loving part of our family. This surgery will save her life and allow her many yrs with us! Riley loves everyone and is a big fan of cuddles. She is very loyal and loves to keep me company while I work. She also helps with emotional support with family members that struggle with depression. Riley has every reason to hate humans. They were terrible to her when she was just a innocent puppy. Instead she loves humans, she welcomes everyone with affection and is so kind. Rylie became ill Monday night 12/11 and is at VSH in San Marcos, this hospital has helped us along the way. She was in so much pain and could not settle. We have found out that her gallbladder is blocked and she needs surgery as soon as possible. We have already spent 5k in her care prior to knowing she needs surgery. We are desperate to get her the help she needs to become well again. We do not want to loose her.

Elly

Elly is a 7-year-old Beagle mix in Yukon, OK, who needs $1,287 for Anterior Cruciate Repair.

Elly joined our family from the OKC animal shelter. We picked her up at an event at a petco store. It was love at first site for my wife and I knew she would be my buddy for the rest of her life. Elly is a Beagle mix. One week after bringing her home she had parvo and we had her treated and she recovered, that was over 7 years ago. She is the protector for my 3 daughters and our home in Yukon OK. Elly has a great life, from sleeping on my feet in our bed, to playing with her doggie sister, Ginger. She loves going to the dog park and running through the lake, chasing a Frisbee or a ball. She is very vocal when playing, but loves to be chased by my 3 year old in the backyard. She is so patient with our twin 1 year olds who love to love on Elly and get nose kisses. We love Elly! We are a single income family with 3 children, one about to start school. Elly is in pain so we would like to do the responsible thing and get her some relief. We would like to take her on trips again, but can't afford this surgery without your help. Elly has a limp in her back left leg, we attempted to treat it with rest and an anti-inflamitory, but it continued to plague her so she received a sedated imaging and has a torn ACL as well as arthritis forming in her knee. The vet recommends a TPLO surgery, but also has another surgery that is more affordable. She is being treated at Yukon Veterinarian Hospital by Dr James McQuade. Elly loves to chase a Frisbee, or a ball, and chewing on a kong. Elly has a buddy, Ginger, who is a few years younger, but loves to play and chase each other. They also are great hunters, keeping the backyard clear of squirrels, rabbits, moles and any other creature. Elly loves her human sisters, Lacey 3, Ava and Maddisyn (1 1/2 years old twins). She loves to nuzzle your arm when she wants loving.

Starlight's Routine Spay Turned Into a Medical Emergency

Starlight came into rescue searching for the second chance she deserved. She arrived from Prince George's County with behavioral challenges that had made it difficult for her to find stability. But beneath those struggles was a loving, affectionate dog who simply needed patience, understanding, and the opportunity to thrive. From the moment she arrived, Starlight showed everyone around her just how special she is. With a wagging tail, a gentle heart, and an eagerness to connect, she quickly won over the people caring for her. Through training, rehabilitation, and consistency, she began making progress toward the future she had always deserved. Then everything changed. What was expected to be a routine spay procedure quickly turned into a medical emergency. Shortly after surgery, Starlight's condition began to decline rapidly. She was rushed for emergency veterinary care and hospitalized at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Va. During diagnostic testing, veterinarians discovered a splenic mass containing fluid, along with free fluid in her abdomen. These findings are extremely concerning and require immediate hospitalization, advanced diagnostics, intensive monitoring, and potentially additional procedures to determine the cause and give Starlight the best possible chance of recovery. Adding to the heartbreak, veterinarians recently determined that Starlight is not the younger dog she was originally believed to be. Instead, she is estimated to be approximately 7 to 8 years old. Yet despite everything she is facing, Starlight continues to fight. She still seeks affection. She still wants to be close to people. She still greets those caring for her with the same loving spirit that has carried her through every challenge so far. As a rescue, no one wants financial limitations to determine whether an animal receives lifesaving medical care. But emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, specialist care, and ongoing treatment are expected to cost up to $7,000, creating a significant burden for a rescue already committed to helping animals in need. Your donation will help cover the cost of Starlight's emergency hospitalization, advanced diagnostics, monitoring, treatment, and any additional procedures needed to give her the best chance at recovery. Truman

Truman is a 10 year old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,185 for Life Saving Eye Removal Surgery.

Truman came into our Sanctuary in early August of 2017 at 22 months of age. Already showing signs of advanced Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), we knew that this boy needed to be in special care and took him into the Sanctuary as quickly as we could. There isn’t much we can do to reverse the effects of PRA, as it’s a genetic disorder. It hits most dog breeds in mid-age, but for greyhounds, it appears sometime around the age of one. PRA destroys the retina and night vision is the first to be lost, with total blindness coming within a year or two. As Truman aged, he developed cataracts in both eyes. While removing the cataracts won't restore his vision, we needed to perform eye pressure tests regularly to make sure that the cataracts are not leading to glaucoma or uveitis. Truman’s eye pressures were normal for over 2 years but suddenly, the cataracts started to shift (luxation) and cause deep spikes in pressure, first very low, then very high. Medications proved to be ineffective and his pain levels were rising. We needed to provide Truman with life saving enucleation and remove both eyes before his pain became intolerable. Truman is healing from his surgery and getting a bit stronger every day. Truman is truly a special guy, as sweet as can be, a true Velcro dog and wonderful companion. He’s found his courage to explore, to love and to be loved. Every day brings smiles as Truman adjusts to his medical condition and thrives. He even helps the new hounds adjust to life at the Sanctuary. The MRLT vision sciences lab at the University of California – Davis conducted a genetic study of Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in Greyhounds. Truman developed PRA but neither of his littermates, Tootie and Taffy, has the disease. Truman and his sisters, along with other greyhounds, provided valuable data for this study and led to the discovery of the gene responsible for PRA! Can you help this sweet boy that helps so many?
