Charlie

Charlie is a 10-month-old Chihuahua/Dacshund in Crestview, FL, who needs $1,815 for Diagnosis and Treatment.

Crestview, FL • C Dog Run

We met Charlie (aka Tommy) at the end of March and adopted him from a small rescue. He was a nervous little fellow, but you could clearly see he had a gentle/calmness about him. The rescue shared his story and the challenges he had with pneumonia. We fell in love and are committed to helping him. He lives with a family of 6. 4 great kids 16-8 years of age. He is adored by our Toby! K-9 Charlie is a very special boy. When he first arrived to our home he was quite overwhelmed. Under the table or in his kennel was his favorite place to be. The only thing that got him to come out was his new friend Toby. Watching Toby have so much fun with Charlie makes us smile every day! He's never far from anyone hoping to give a little love to and always curled closely to Toby when we aren't. Charlie needed to learn how to trust people. As a military family we've learned how to recognize and understand the effects of trauma. His fear of men, makes us very suspicious that there's been some kind of abuse that happened before he was rescued by Nite Howls. Watching the two dogs play, interact and connect puts a smile on all our faces daily. After only a week t they became best buds! So unfortunately a day after we adopted Charlie, we started to see some abnormal movements. We noticed that he would stand on top of his paws and even try to walk that way. We have since found out this is called knuckling and normally is a sign of a neurological condition. We also noticed that his back legs didn't move or operate in a normal, We need a specialist opinion to proceed ASAP. Being a proud military family of 6, but for the past 4 years we've had a very medically fragile child many hospitalizations, Specialist and homeschooling. Because of this, we became a one income family. We were not prepared for this medical need. We want to save Charlie!

Jigsaw

Jigsaw suffered unimaginable cruelty. Please show him love and kindness.

Kewaskum, WI • Stray Dog Support

Stray Dog Support received an urgent call to help a dog they have now named Jigsaw. He was found in Egypt, suffering from horrific injuries that are believed to have been caused by being brutally beaten. The moment they saw the video, their heart sank. They immediately committed to helping with his medical care. Jigsaw was rushed to the hospital where it took 6 veterinarians working together because his injuries were so severe. So far, they know he has multiple fractures to his jaw and around his eye, his eye is completely gone, and he has a broken leg. The veterinarians believe the eye injury is older because there was extensive infected bone that had to be removed. That means he has been living in unimaginable agony for quite some time. They also believe the broken leg is a newer injury, meaning someone likely attacked him twice. Right now, he has been sedated and given pain medication while they wait for blood test results. The infection is one of the biggest concerns, and they have started antibiotics in the hope of getting it under control. This is an incredibly difficult and complex case, but leaving him behind was never an option. Today, we are asking for your help. Stray Dog Support is overwhelmed with critical cases, but Jigsaw deserves every chance to know kindness instead of cruelty. He did not deserve this. Any donation, no matter the size, makes a huge difference and shows him that he is deeply cared about. Thank you.

Maher

Maher is a 4.5 year old Tibetan Terrier in New York, NY, who needs $2,700 for Dental cleaning and tooth extraction.

New York, NY

Maher Harper Curran - also known as Mahersie, Maher Bear, Mahersala, Maher' Eats Oats, amongst other endearments - is a spunky, social 4.5 year old Tibetan Terrier living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Because of Maher, her mother has met more neighbors than she ever could imagine. Maher has become a fixture for children in the neighborhood to pet and request "paw" in exchange for a treat. Maher's Mother thought she was being a wonderful mom and had been giving her those meaty (gross) dog bones that are in the frozen section of pet stores since it kept Maher busy and cleaned her teeth so well! Unfortunately, those bones can also cause a dog to chip a tooth, and that's exactly what happened. Maher has chipped/splintered one of her back molars. City Veterinary Care (220 W. 72nd St.) Maher is a delight. Her young cousins always ask about her and love getting to take walks with her, play, and cuddle. Maher is a "dog's dog" and absolutely loooves being chased in the dog park and having playdates with her dog friends. She is known to make grumpy strangers crack a smile when they see her fun hair-do (a ponytail or pigtails) and her derpy tongue sticking out to the side. This dental surgery (tooth extraction + dental cleaning) isn't covered by insurance and Maher's Mother has been hustling multiple odd jobs while applying to full-time work. This is an estimated $2700 expense. Luckily the tooth isn't infected but surgery needs to happen asap.

Saba

Please help Saba overcome extreme starvation.

Kewaskum, WI • Pawsitive Sanctuary Inc

Saba was little more than skin and bones when we found her. Every rib, every hip bone, every vertebra was visible beneath her battered body. Open wounds covered her skin, and she was so weak that simply standing took everything she had left. She had been surviving for far too long with almost nothing, and without immediate intervention, she likely wouldn't have survived much longer. She was discovered in the middle of the day, lying in plain sight as countless people walked past without stopping. Somehow, despite the pain and exhaustion, she was still trying to hold herself up. When we approached, she didn't run or resist. She quietly accepted our help, too exhausted to do anything else. Lifting her into our arms was heartbreaking—she weighed almost nothing. Saba's body condition score is just 1 out of 9, indicating extreme starvation. Her body has been forced to consume its own muscle and fat stores simply to stay alive. She also has multiple open wounds that have already attracted insects, a devastating reminder of how vulnerable she had become after being left to suffer alone. As soon as Saba arrived at the sanctuary, our team began emergency treatment. She's receiving IV fluids, careful nutritional support, pain management, and treatment for her wounds. Because she's so severely malnourished, every meal has to be introduced slowly and monitored closely to avoid complications. The next several days will be critical as we watch for signs that her body is beginning to recover. Saba's fight isn't over, and she can't do this without help. Your donation will provide the lifesaving care she urgently needs, including hospitalization, medications, wound care, specialized nutrition, and around-the-clock monitoring. Saba spent far too long being overlooked. Today, you have the opportunity to show her that her life matters. Thank you for helping us give this sweet girl the second chance she deserves.

Photo of Delilah

Delilah

Delilah is a 9 year old Mix-Breed in Columbus, NC, who needs $6,000 for Balloon Dilation (2 treatments).

Columbus, NC

We adopted Delilah and Otis 3 yrs ago. I fell in love with Delilah instantly. She is so soft and small. The shelter said she was 6, had been a stray and had chronic rhinitis (prior nasopharyngeal polyp). She may get sneezy and snotty, but occasional antibiotics will help. We brought our babies home and Delilah has run the house since. We added Henry a year later. We are complete - 3 kids, 3 cats. Delilah's case is urgent. A nasal scope discovered a severe restriction, preventing proper drainage and causing recurrent infections. Her most recent flare up was incredibly resistant. She ended up being hospitalized for 3 days. We almost lost her. If we don't have the balloon dilation procedures done by Dr. DeVanna at SAVES in Asheville, NC, we are waiting for the infection that kills her. Delilah is very affectionate, on her own terms. She has never met a lap she didn't like, but can be bribed with blankets. She sleeps between us every night, making room if there is none. She loves pets and will paw at your hand for more. Just don't pick her up! She longs to be an outdoor cat again, so we bought a leash and harness and a mesh, pop-up "playground" so she can be outside safely. After 3 years of vet visits, cultures, compounded medications, the nasal scope, and her recent hospital stay, we have no emergency fund left. We will be devastated if we lose her just because we can't afford to save her again. Please, help us save Delilah.
