Oscar

Please help Oscar from being abandoned in critical condition.

Harrisburg, PA • Castaway Critters, The James A. Hueholt Memorial Foundation for Animals

When Castaway Critters took Oscar in, he was in critical condition, and 17 other rescues had already denied taking him in. His eyes were crusted shut, his fur was completely matted, he was severely dehydrated and infested with fleas, and the infection in his mouth was so advanced that he could barely eat. His tail had fallen off long ago, and the smell coming from his tiny body told us just how much suffering he had endured. Oscar is at least 12 years old, and despite everything he's been through, he is still fighting. He was rushed to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center, where he has already undergone sedation, bloodwork, FIV/FELV testing, fluid therapy, flea treatment, and the removal of three severely infected teeth. Veterinarians discovered extensive infections in his mouth, and because he is so thin, additional testing is being done to determine whether his weight loss is due to his dental disease or something even more serious. The good news is that Oscar tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Now, they're praying that there isn't another underlying illness standing in his way. His medical bills are already significant, but they couldn't turn their backs on him when so many others had no choice but to say no. Today, Castaway Critters is urgenly asking for your help. Every donation will go directly toward Oscar's emergency care, diagnostics, medications, and the treatment he desperately needs. Oscar has spent far too long suffering alone. Now, let's show him what love feels like.

Stripe

Stripe is a 1 year old American Shorthair in Springfield, TN, who needs $221 for Initial Consult.

Springfield

Stripe is from a litter we rescued after their feral mother was hit by a car. He led the procession as they came out of hiding looking for food days after their mom passed away. His eyes had not changed color yet he was so young and I lovingly spent weeks bottle feeding him and his siblings. He just turned 1 year old August 3rd. He lives with his brothers and sister. He is loved unconditionally! We noticed he was wobbling and took him to the vet, the X-ray is in the photos. He needs to see a specialist to see if we can heal him. Blue Pearl Animal Hospital is a place we have come to trust and it's where he will go. He has a couple vertebrae that are closer together than the rest. His brother had also started wobbling at the same time so we are concerned it may be something more. Stripe talks to me all the time and is always excited to see me. He loves to play with toys and his brothers. He does not like being alone. He loves to eat and asks for treats. He will lay beside me and nuzzle and hold onto my arm to let me know he cares. He's a curious kitten as shown in the photo of him peeking under the blanket. He is full of love. Due to my health it's hard for me to make money, but I'm doing what I can. My other half works hard, but with the rise in prices we are barely getting by. It hurts my heart to see Stripe suffer and would mean the world to me and him to have help getting the necessary funds.

15 Years Together. Now They Need Us. Help Zach and Zoey!

Whitsett, NC • Little Blue Tattoos

Zach and Zoey have spent 15 years side by side. These two precious Shih Tzu seniors have been best friends their entire lives. They are sweet, gentle, loving, calm, and content simply being together. After 15 years of sharing their lives, they deserve nothing more than a soft place to rest, plenty of love, and the chance to spend their remaining years together in comfort. Sadly, Zach and Zoey were surrendered to rescue simply because they had grown old and their care had become inconvenient. Now, Little Blue Tattoos is determined to make sure getting older doesn't mean being forgotten. Both dogs arrived needing significant medical attention. They were diagnosed with heart murmurs, luxating patellas, kennel cough, and severe dental disease requiring extensive dental care and extractions. Little Blue Tattoos has already spent $904 on their veterinary and dental care, helping address the serious health issues these two seniors were facing when they entered rescue. Those unexpected medical expenses are a significant financial burden for a small rescue, especially when caring for two senior dogs at the same time. Despite everything they are facing, Zach and Zoey have each other. They remain sweet, loving companions who deserve to be comfortable, healthy, and cared for during their senior years. Your donation will help Little Blue Tattoos offset the cost of the veterinary and dental care Zach and Zoey have already received and continue providing the care they need as they recover. They have spent 15 years together. Now, they just need someone to help make sure they can spend the rest of their lives together, too. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps give Zach and Zoey the comfortable and loving retirement they deserve. Thank you for helping Little Blue Tattoos care for these two best friends and reminding them that they were not forgotten just because they grew old.

Archie

Archie is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Chester, VA, who needs $2,031 for Mammary Mass Diagnostic Workup.

Chester, VA

Archie has been with our family since he was born during the COVID-19 pandemic. We rescued his pregnant mother and adopted out the rest of her litter, keeping Archie. He lives with his brother, Louie, and our family. After surviving a house fire and recovering from smoke inhalation, Archie has become a resilient, much-loved companion, especially to my son, Jack, who has autism. Archie was evaluated at VCA Pets First Animal Hospital for weight loss, severe skin inflammation, and enlarged mammary masses. His veterinarian is concerned about possible infection or cancer and recommended bloodwork, chest and abdominal radiographs, sedation, and treatment with Convenia and Onsior. His condition has continued to worsen since the initial visit. Archie is a goofy, affectionate cat who loves greeting us with his funny little meow and waiting on the bathroom sink after showers. He enjoys hiding in sinks, laundry baskets, and under blankets. He shares a special bond with my son, who has autism, and is his constant companion. Archie's quirky personality and loving nature make him an irreplaceable member of our family. Despite budgeting carefully and seeking assistance through several organizations, we have been unable to proceed with Archie's recommended care. We have exhausted the available and are seeking help from this community to give him the the care and recovery he deserves.

Merlin

Painful Skin, Emergency Surgery, and a Long Road to Healing

New York, NY • Every Last One Rescue

Merlin came to Every Last One Rescue from the ACC needing help for what was believed to be a minor medical issue. He had a prolapsed urethra, and while the shelter noted it as something relatively simple, surgery quickly revealed that Merlin’s condition was much more serious than anyone expected. This sweet boy underwent surgery to repair the prolapse, and everyone hoped he was finally on the path to healing. But the very next day, things took a terrifying turn. His stitches dropped, leading to a frightening and very bloody medical emergency that required immediate attention. Merlin was rushed back into care and had to undergo a second surgery to repair the damage and give his body another chance to heal properly. It was a scary ordeal for everyone involved, but thankfully, Merlin made it through. On top of his urethral prolapse and emergency surgeries, Merlin was also battling a severe yeast infection across his body. His skin was uncomfortable, irritated, and in desperate need of treatment. With proper medical care, medicated treatment, and the love of his foster family, his skin is already starting to improve. After everything he has endured, Merlin remains such a special dog. He has faced pain, complications, emergency surgery, and an uncertain road, yet he is finally getting the chance to feel a little better and heal in a safe, loving foster home. But his medical journey has come with significant costs. Merlin’s surgeries, emergency care, medications, skin treatment, follow up appointments, and continued recovery needs have created a large financial burden for the rescue. Every Last One Rescue stepped up without hesitation because Merlin deserved the chance to heal, but they cannot do it alone. Please consider donating to help cover Merlin’s lifesaving medical care and ongoing recovery. Every dollar helps ensure he can continue receiving the treatment he needs after such a frightening start. Merlin has already been through so much. Now he deserves comfort, healing, and the chance to move forward into the healthy, happy life he was always meant to have. 8/1/26 Update The happiest update has arrived... Merlin has officially been adopted! After everything this sweet boy endured, from two surgeries to repair his prolapsed urethra, an emergency complication that required immediate intervention, and treatment for a painful, body-wide yeast infection, seeing him healthy, loved, and finally home is the outcome everyone was hoping for. Today, Merlin is living his very best life with his forever family. Every photo is a reminder of just how far he's come and why Every Last One Rescue never gave up on him, even when his medical journey became far more complicated than anyone expected. While Merlin's story has the happy ending he deserved, the veterinary bills from his surgeries, emergency care, medications, follow up appointments, and ongoing treatment remain. Every Last One Rescue covered these lifesaving expenses so Merlin could get the care he needed without delay, and your support can help ease that financial burden. If you've been thinking about donating, it's not too late to make a difference. Your gift helps cover the costs of Merlin's medical care and allows the rescue to say "yes" to the next animal who arrives needing urgent help. 8/12/26 Update Merlin may be happily settled into his forever home, but we still need your help closing the gap on the medical care that made his happy ending possible. Before Merlin could begin this new chapter, Every Last One Rescue was there for him through two surgeries, a frightening emergency complication, treatment for a severe yeast infection, medications, follow-up care, and everything else he needed to heal. Rescues don’t get to wait until the funds are there before helping an animal in crisis. When Merlin needed urgent care, his rescue said yes and made sure he received it. Now, the bills from that care still need to be covered. Merlin’s story is a beautiful reminder of what a lifesaving “yes” can lead to. He is safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider making a gift toward Merlin’s remaining medical expenses. Every donation helps Every Last One Rescue recover the cost of giving Merlin his second chance and puts them in a stronger position to say yes when the next animal needs them.
