Bolo

Bolo is a 4 year old American Bulldog in Hiawatha First Nation , ON, who needs $9,000 for Pantarsal Arthrodesis.

Hiawatha First Nation

This is Bolo! He came to us after we lost our boy Otis. After Bolo came to us, my Mom was talking with his parents owner and found out he is actually Otis nephew! What a surprise! Bolo lives with his Mom (the boss), his Dad (the food bank), his Aunt (the driver) and his Nephew (the playtoy). For the first 2 years of Bolos life, he lived quietly, during a pandemic) with just his Mom and his Aunt. Bolo loves to "trim trees" and one day, he started to limp after one of his adventures. Bolo had his consultation at King Animal Hospital and his diagnosis is partial rupture of the right common calcaneal (Achilles) tendon and the recommended surgical treatment is called pantarsal arthrodesis, which will stabilize the joint and allow him to regain function in his leg. Bolos first 2 years were lived quietly with just his Mom and Aunt, this was during the pandemic and his "Dad" was in the hospital. When his Dad returned home, Bolos natural protection became more intense. He is a fierce guardian of his family and I can tell it makes him feel off that he is not at 100%. Bolo is only 4 and we want him to live a fun and active life as he was meant to do. The cost for the procedure and follow-up care is estimated between $6,000 and $9,000 — an amount that’s difficult for us to manage on our own. Bolo's parents are in their senior years and aren't in the best of health.

Flora

Flora is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Montgomery Village, MD, who needs $600 for Teeth Cleaning.

Montgomery Village, MD

Hi everyone! This is Flora. She was rescued from a dog-fighting ring in NC. She went to a foster home in southern MD, and I adopted her from there New Year's Day 2024. She was 8 months old. The video you see if the day I brought her home. I have one other cat I adopted the next day from a different rescue, and they're best buddies, though he does annoy her like a little brother sometimes. As you can see from the last 3 images I shared, Flora has a propensity for extra bacteria in her mouth. Today the vet at A Cat Clinic in Germantown, MD, discovered Flora has lost a tooth, which is a bad sign at her young age. She needs a deep cleaning, which is very expensive ($600 min, and that's if they don't have to pull more teeth). Flora is such a character! She loves people, and the first time she met my friend Jen, she cuddled right up next to her...traitor! Kidding. I'm glad that despite her rough beginning, she loves and trusts people. She's an indoor cat, but loves sitting on the window cushion watching birds at the feeder and squirrels around the trees. She loves cuddling, and often sleeps with one paw on me. I had to get new gutters in June, which was nearly $2,000. Now I have to replace my HVAC (this week), which is $11,000. I got financing, but it means I don't have the money to ensure Flora's dental hygiene. I could use help covering it. I don't want her to lose more teeth.
