Sweet senior boy Wuffie is finally settling into his foster home, but he’s facing a tough hurdle. He has been struggling with a major chronic UTI that’s causing frequent accidents. This poor old man has been through so much, and right now he needs a little extra help (and a lot of love) to get comfortable and start healing. His amazing fosters are doing everything they can, but they urgently need supplies like to help with cleanup and keep Wuffie’s space safe and comfortable. Wuffie also needs nutritious food to help rebuild his strength and support his recovery. Every donation truly makes a difference for him. His foster’s priority right now is getting Wuffie healthy enough to get surgery for his enlarged prostate. We are hoping a simple neuter surgery will resolve most of his current problems. Annie didn’t always have that name. She came to Castaway Critters as “Grace,” a small 3.5-year-old Maltese taken as evidence in an active animal cruelty case. Because of that, much of her story must remain untold for now. When Annie arrived, she was emaciated and underweight, her tiny body buried beneath overgrown, matted fur. The mats were so severe they pulled tightly against her skin, trapping diarrhea and causing painful irritation. Her skin was neglected, her body fighting parasites, and she carried brutal injuries. She was frightened of everything—every sound, every movement—and when she felt overwhelmed, she would bite out of fear, simply trying to protect herself in a world that had not been kind. Annie’s journey is just beginning, and it will take time. She needs continued veterinary care, proper nutrition, grooming to relieve the discomfort of her matted coat, and patient rehabilitation to help her trust again. The cost of caring for a dog from such severe circumstances is significant, especially while her case remains ongoing. We are asking for your help to give Annie the future she deserves. Arjun’s suffering didn’t happen overnight. Somehow, a wire became tightly embedded around his leg — cutting deep into his skin, causing constant pain, and slowly leading to a severe infection. By the time help reached him, the damage had already been done. Our team acted quickly to remove the wire, sparing Arjun from further injury. But the relief was only the beginning of a much longer fight. 💔 Arjun Is Still in Pain His wound is badly infected. Because of the intense pain, Arjun is struggling to cooperate with treatment — not because he doesn’t want help, but because he is hurting so deeply that he doesn’t understand we’re trying to save him. Malcolm is my "velcro pup." I traded my second car to get him, and he even shares my daughter’s birthday! He is a lovable country dog who thinks everyone is his best friend. He is currently in the ICU fighting to wake up from cluster seizures. I have already spent $6,716, maxing out every credit card I own. He is a fighter, but I’ve run out of funds to pay for the 48 hours he needs to survive. Malcolm is in a life-or-death emergency at Fresno Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center. After suffering severe cluster seizures, he is in the ICU on a constant seizure-medication drip (CRI). Dr. Tolman is currently tapering his meds to see if his brain can stabilize. He needs 48 hours of specialized monitoring to survive this neurological crisis without permanent damage. Malcolm is a "talker" and a true country dog who loves being outdoors. He is incredibly social. Everyone he meets becomes his best friend instantly. He has a quirky habit of "vocalizing" when he's dreaming, which he’s doing now in the ICU as he fights to wake up. Vito came to us after his companion was no longer able to care for him.He was 3 months old, and I quickly found myself spending every extra moment to snuggle, walk, talk to, and just be around Vito.I noticed after a short time, that before I had a panic attack,Vito would come to me and sit on my feet, or lay in my lap to let me know. Vito has since been classified a service animal, per my Dr. A year ago, he yawned and I saw a lump on the top of his mouth in the back.Vito's primary vet performed a day surgery to remove it.The labs came back as either melonoma or carcenoma.We were referred to Lake County Veterinary Clinic,where they specialize in oral surgery.Dr. Grace Brown is confident she can remove the mass,and get clean margins so it won't return, which is fantastic news! Vito has done so much for us, and he's such an amazing, loving, smart, caring, helpful companion. I am coming to ask for help for my Rosie. She is more to me than just a dog, she is my baby, my best friend. Rosie has been my guardian angel since she was a baby. Let me explain, see I have a brain tumor and I have seizures while I sleep and Rosie knows when I’m having them and she helps me come out of it. Rosie has a human soak, she has always seemed as if she understood everything I was saying or feeling. A few months ago my little brother was killed and she jumped on my lap and she put her head on my chest and comforted me while I was crying uncontrollably. Rosie feels me. One time I was away from her and I was having a seizure and at the same time she started running around and howling and crying and trying to get the attention of whoever was around her. She wouldn’t stop till they took her to me and she knew I was ok. I need my Rosie girl and I know she is getting older and one day she will have to go to heaven but I’m hoping her time is not now. She is not fixed, I have not had the money for that so she goes into heat. Rosie went into heat about a month ago and since then she has kept bleeding and about a week ago she pooped out a puddle of blood. Ian afraid she might be bleeding inside or something. My name is Felicia, I’m 47 years old and I’ve never owned a pet. As a child I was fearful of dogs but as I became an adult I grew out of it but never thought I would own a dog. My husband and I finally had the opportunity to have a pet, my cousin brought Honey to our home and it was love at first sight. We’ve had her for about 2 months and she has brought so much joy and love to our home. On Christmas Day I was at my mother’s home for Christmas and Honey and my mother’s dog was in the backyard as they always do but somehow she got through a small opening in the fence and got close to the road and injured her right hind leg. I am so heart broken. We took her to the vet and she will need surgery. We just got pet insurance this week but we’re not sure if it will cover the surgery which is over $6,000. My husband is a disabled veteran and I work as a substitute teacher while taking college courses. We would appreciate any help so we can get our baby’s surgery.

Caru is a 13-year-old Beagle, Yorkie, and Chihuahua mix, from a litter of ten. My sister and I each kept one puppy—Caru and her sister Stella Bea (Deli). Caru’s name means “love” in Welsh. She splits her time between my parents’ house, where she has her sister Deli, and my boyfriend’s house, where she has her brother Bubba. Caru was treated at South Sacramento Pet Hospital, where she had surgery on her ear last November. Unfortunately, the issue has grown back, she now needs a second surgery to stop the pain and prevent infection. She scratches her ear constantly, which causes bleeding, so we have to clean it daily and keep her in a cone. The vets confirmed this procedure is necessary to help her feel better again. Caru is incredibly special. She’s gentle, loyal, and loves being around her people—whether visiting her Gama and Gampa, going on hikes, sunbathing, or joining me on the paddleboard. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. My boyfriend even calls her his daughter. She’s touched my life, my family’s lives, and truly everyone she’s ever met. I’m currently not working while I focus on my schooling, which has made finances really tight. Covering Caru’s surgery on my own isn’t possible right now. Having her healthy again would mean everything to me and give her the comfort she deserves.
