Pico

Pico is a 6-year-old DSH Cat in Salem, AL, who needs $1,000 for Catheter Treatment for Urinary Blockage.

Salem, AL

When Pico was about 8 weeks old my son decided he wanted a cat, not a dog, for a pet. It so happened that a friend of mine had a momma cat with kittens. Pico was the last one and they needed him gone, so we took him. Fast forward to last week: my beloved Pico, who I now can't imagine life without got a urinary blockage. He was fading fast. I took him to the vet and now I need help paying his bill. When my son moved out at 19, the kitty stayed behind. I have 2 dogs who he has grown up with. He lays with Gypsy all the time. He sleeps on my or at my head every night. He loves me and I love him...he cuddles, he grabs my arm.or hand when I stop putting him before he us ready. He is family...my little fur kitty-boy. Pico has always been more affectionate than you'd expect from a cat, just a big ol' cuddle bug. The week before he got sick he and I were in my recliner. He was sitting on the arm with his face buried in my armpit. I moved my arm a bit away from him and he grabbed my both front paws and pulled my arm back toward him, like he was saying, "Don't leave me!" Late last week I noticed him acting out of his norm. The only time I had seen him do this before was months before, when he had a UTI. So, I was worried. I emptied his litter box so I could keep an eye on his urine output. At 3am, about 12ish hours in, he'd had zero output. By 7:30am, when I called the vet, he was just laying in the floor in his room, kind of lethargic. I thought I was going to lose my baby boy. I haven't worked in a while, so there isn't any wiggle room for emergencies in life right now. He is getting help, but help costs. Opelika Animal Hospital in Opelika AL was a God-send in a desperate moment. They've given him life!

Mercury

Mercury is a 6-month-old Brooder Collie Mix in Winnemucca, NV, who needs $775 for Medication, X-rays & Potentially Surgery.

Winnemucca, NV

Mercury came into my life when she was about 16 weeks old. She was the last of her litter to find a home, and also the runt. I had recently moved back home from across the country and looking for a companion for myself and my kiddos. Our family immediately fell in love with her and she has been the bestest of friends to us ever since. She has made our hearts so full; we’re so lucky to have her!!! Merc (Mercury) normally sleeps in her kennel with her favorite penguin stuffed animal, or in bed with mom and dad! She loves to nap on the couch with her “hey gorgeous” pillow during the day. When she’s not outside playing fetch, she’s inside following her three, 2-legged siblings around! Merc also has two hairless cat siblings, and we can never decide if she’s scared, or disgusted by them😂 One thing that stands out about Mercury is although she may have been the runt of her litter, her heart is SO big! Her favorite way to communicate and show you how happy she is, is by giving you a giant hug. Everyone is always so surprised when she gives hugs but it is always followed by awe’s and laughter. Our gentle fur bestie is overflowing with love. Unfortunately for Mercury, it is believed that she was either poisoned or her intestines have become tangled. This has been an unexpected and expensive journey so far. We are willing to do anything for Merc, even if it means asking for help. Mercury’s first vet trip so far has only provided us with borrowed time on fluids. Our next step is X-rays, then surgery more than likely. This has been completely unexpected for our family. Rent is due and it’s also the holidays. Given the current time of year, it was extremely difficult to even get Mercury in to see an emergency vet. Mercury is part of our family, and we’d do anything to keep her around.

Pinto

Pinto is a 2-year-old Mixed Jack Russell Terrier in Bakersfield , CA, who needs $1,100 for Enucleation.

Bakersfield, CA

We got litte Pinto from a friend when he was about 3 months old. We were supposed to get another dog but ended up last minute choosing pinto and it was the best decision we have ever made. Grandma picked pintos name as she does with all of our past pets. We have one other outdoor dog, her name is Monchis. Shes a rottweiler and weve had her for probably 6 years and Pinto is 2 years old. Pintos our inside dog since hes really little but he spends a lot of time with monchis in the back and a ton of time exploring. He follows me around everywhere i go and hes the sweetest dog youll ever meet. He loves everyone but he can be shy sometimes. Hes never hurt anybody or anything hes the nicest dog ever. Everybody that has ever interacted with Pinto loves him, and Pinto never forgets any1. Pinto always has the zoomies and is constantly running around. Pinto will try to scare anyone who he thinks is getting too close to me. Hell growl and if they get too close hell put his teeth on them but unfortunately hes too nice to do any harm. Pinto was attacked by a big dog on october 22nd at around 9pm right after we had a party at our house. Pintos right eye was popped out and injured we immediately rushed to a 24 hour VCA Bakersfield animal hospital. The vet looked at pinto and said his eye needed to come out and quoted us $2,000 for the surgery. Were trying to look for cheaper vets but low end is still $1200. Which is unaffordable. We are super tight on money since all of our cars are needing repairs. The cars are almost always in the shop and were pouring a ton of money into them. We really need help with Pinto we love him and cant live without him, he means everything to us.

Gunnar

Gunnar is a 7-year-old Chug in Boise, ID, who needs $1,200 for Swollen Prostate Care.

Boise, ID

I rescued gunnar 5 years ago. He was a 24/7 outside dog. He has special needs and they didn't like him. He was being neglected and starved. I took him home and he has been my whole world ever since. We have faced obstacles together and he gives me a reason to get up everyday and keep fighting for him and I. Gunnar loves to rub up on anything and everything. And everyone! He plops in your lap when you scratch his butt and gives the best cuddles. He is the sweetest boy ever. His special needs make him a silly unique dog that brightens everyone's day when they meet him. He truly is a ray of sunshine! Everyone loves him:) He loves to run around in circles. He gets the zoomies and goes absolutely crazy with energy when outside. He scratches backwards all the time because he saw another dog do it once. His balance is a little off so sometimes he just falls over if the pets are too good. Also has a tendency to run into things on accident Gunnar has never had medical problems before. He has always been healthy. Today, I noticed he was crying when peeing and was peeing blood. I am absolutely terrified. He seems to be more tired than usual and doesn't want to run around much like he always does... he is too young for me to lose him. That's my baby I was laid off recently and unable to pay his pet insurance. I have a small savings that I am willing to put towards his needs. I'm in desperate need of help. Please

Lucy

Lucy is a 12-year-old Shiba Inu Mix in Port St. Joe, TX, who needs $575 for Dental X-rays and Dental Cleaning.

Port St. Joe, TX • Forgotten Coast Animal Rescue

Lucy was picked up as a stray by the Houston shelter. Due to her age and condition, she was out on the euthanasia list. She was very shut down in the shelter environment. Forgotten Coast Animal Rescue received a foster offer for her, so she was pulled and has been gaining confidence and spunk in her foster home. Lucy has sight and hearing issues due to age, but enjoys her foster home and yards familar environment. She runs loops in the yard and hangs out with her foster siblings. She has started to approach her foster mom for affection and treats. She’s an easy going girl who is getting a second chance at life. Lucy is a senior that was not taken of like she should have been. She came to the rescue with infected ears, infected hot spots due to fleas, a possible dental abcess. She was found dragging a chain lead. We want Lucy to be comfortable and have the vet care she needs to give her the best golden years. Lucy was originally evaluated and made comfortable by the team at Chestnut Animal Hospital. At that time, we were not sure how far to go with Lucy’s care. Fast forward a few weeks and Lucy is improving daily. She has a wound on her face that is not healing, so she needs dental x-rays to determine whether the root cause is a dental abcess. We will do a dental cleaning while she is under as well. Forgotten Coast is a small all breed rescue in Houston Texas. The need is never ending, but resources are limited. We can only take on senior and medical cases with assistance from the community

Flora

Flora is a 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Springdale, PA, who needs $1,500 for Urgent Care.

Springdale, PA • Paws Across Pittsburgh

Paws Across Pittsburgh saved many cats from a hoarding house of horrors and needs your help. Covered in urine and feces, extremely thin, experiencing respiratory issues, and suffering from severe dental disease, Flora and many others were in rough shape and desperately needed help. "An elderly homeowner had been caring for a large number of cats in her home for years," Jackie A., with the rescue group, tells Waggle. "She had reached out to some larger organizations for assistance this year but did not have a good experience and gave up on trying." The woman’s family discovered how dire the situation was and contacted Paws Across Pittsburgh for help. "We visited the home with representatives from two other rescue groups where we found approximately 40 cats living in horrific conditions," Jackie says. "The main floor of the home and most of the kitties were covered in feces and urine. Many appeared sick or injured." Paws Across Pittsburgh took in some of the cats who needed the most help, like Flora. The rescue is desperately trying to raise money for Flora and the other cats they saved. All the medical bills the organization will incur are a substantial financial undertaking. Will you help them make it through this crisis? "We cannot thank our amazing supporters enough for their generosity and kindness," Jackie says. "Your support means the world to us and to cats like Flora."
