Nickle
Help Nickle See Clearly Again: Cherry Eye Surgery Needed for This Happy Little Boston
Maryville, TN • Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee
Nickle’s life started with uncertainty—but you would never know it by looking at him. This happy, goofy little Boston Terrier arrived at Miami-Dade Animal Services as a stray on January 28, 2026. No one knows exactly what he experienced before he was found, but despite everything, Nickle greets the world with excitement. His tail wiggles nonstop, he loves going on walks, and he’s even learning how to properly walk with a leash and harness. Now safe with Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee, Nickle is finally getting the second chance he deserves. But this sweet boy is living with constant discomfort. Nickle currently has cherry eye in both eyes, a painful condition where the tear gland becomes prolapsed, causing swelling, irritation, and redness. In Nickle’s case, the condition has progressed enough to cause ulcers and significant inflammation, making his eyes extremely uncomfortable. Without treatment, the irritation will continue and could lead to more serious complications. Thankfully, surgery can correct the issue and give Nickle the relief he needs. The estimate for his surgery and medical care is approximately $2,000. While Nickle may have entered the shelter system as a stray with no one to advocate for him, he is no longer alone. The rescue team is committed to giving him the care he needs—but they cannot do it without help. Your tax-deductible donation will help cover Nickle’s veterinary exam, surgery, and recovery care. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Nickle’s story can help us reach someone who can. Nickle’s joyful personality shows just how resilient he is. Now we have the chance to give him what every dog deserves—a life without pain and a future full of love. Together, we can help Nickle see the world clearly again.

May Bea
Help Sweet May Bea Walk Without Pain
Maryville, TN • Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee
When Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee saved May Bea from the euthanasia list at Miami-Dade Animal Services, she was a fragile little soul—thin, weak, and struggling just to stand. Her breathing was labored, her appetite gone, and every step caused her pain. But this brave girl’s story didn’t end there. Thanks to her amazing foster family (who lovingly call her “Bea Bea”) and compassionate donors like you, she had her first femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery and a nares surgery to open her airways. For the first time, May Bea could breathe freely, smell her food, and finally enjoy mealtime again! Now thriving alongside her three foster Boston Terrier sisters, May Bea loves to play, cuddle, and nap—but she’s not out of the woods yet. Her other hip still causes her daily pain, and she needs a second FHO surgery to finally live pain-free. This surgery will change her life—it will mean no more pain, no more limping, and the chance to run and play like the joyful little dog she’s always wanted to be. Please help May Bea get her second chance at a pain-free life. Your donation will go directly toward her upcoming surgery and recovery care. Every dollar makes a difference for this resilient, happy girl who’s fought so hard to get here.

Jax
Help Boston Terrier Jax with complex medical challenges
Maryville, TN • Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee
Jax’s journey has been nothing short of miraculous. When he came to us in October 2023, he was barely alive—his body torn apart from severe dog bite injuries. Since then, this brave boy has undergone multiple surgeries, including heart and jaw repairs, and has fought his way back with incredible resilience and spirit. For nearly two years, Jax has continued to amaze us. His favorite thing in the world is chasing balls and living life to the fullest—proof that even after unthinkable cruelty, joy is still possible. Recently, Jax underwent another medical challenge. Every CT scan he’s had since his rescue has shown an enlarged lymph node, which we believed was related to his past infections and trauma. To be safe, we pursued a needle biopsy—only to find new confusion instead of answers. The sample showed only normal salivary cells, meaning either the biopsy accidentally hit his salivary gland or what’s been seen all along isn’t a lymph node at all. If it is the salivary gland, we still don’t know why it swells so dramatically from time to time. More diagnostics and monitoring are needed to make sure nothing serious is being missed—and to keep Jax comfortable and healthy. Jax has already cost our small, volunteer-run rescue over $25,000 in life-saving care, and his journey isn’t over yet. Every dollar helps us cover his ongoing and future medical expenses so that he can keep doing what he loves most—chasing balls, wagging his tail, and reminding us all that love truly heals. Update 11/4/25 After a long journey filled with surgeries, recovery, and so many unknowns, Jax is stable and doing great. His recent biopsy results confirmed that his salivary glands are normal, and no further testing is needed at this time. While the lymph nodes weren’t sampled, our vet is confident that Jax is healthy and comfortable — and that’s the best news we could hope for!
