About

Poofer's Place Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue and sanctuary dedicated to saving homeless, abandoned, neglected, and medically vulnerable cats in Cleveland and Liberty County, Texas—an area with no municipal shelter that accepts cats. Our mission is to reduce suffering through rescue, rehabilitation, foster care, adoption, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and community education. We believe every cat deserves compassion, medical care, and the opportunity for a safe, loving home. From tiny orphaned kittens that require around-the-clock bottle feeding to injured adults needing emergency surgeries, we step in when there is nowhere else for them to go. Every donation helps provide veterinary care, food, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, medications, and safe shelter while cats wait for their forever families. Together, we are giving forgotten cats a second chance at life.

Giselle’s Road to Recovery 🩷

Cleveland, TX • Poofer's Place Rescue

Giselle’s story started outside a Dollar General in Colony Ridge, Texas, where this sweet girl was confused, alone, and wandering through a busy parking lot. At one point, she nearly followed a bicyclist into traffic and later ran across the street, narrowly escaping what we feared could have been a devastating accident. Thankfully, Giselle made it safely under a truck with only a scraped paw. We brought her into our care at Poofer’s Place Rescue, and it didn’t take long to see what a sweetheart she is. We were hopeful she’d be ready for adoption soon. She’s potty trained, wonderful with cats, and has been nothing but loving. But then came the news we weren’t hoping for: Giselle tested positive for heartworm. Before treatment can begin, she’ll need 30 days of doxycycline, followed by injections to eliminate the adult heartworms. She’ll also need to be spayed before she can find her forever home. Her journey will be a little longer than we expected, but Giselle is safe and, most importantly, getting the care she deserves. 🩷 Please help us give this sweet girl the chance to become the healthy, happy companion we know she can be. Giselle is worth it.

Help Grant Heal After Being Found Alone and Injured

Cleveland, TX • Poofer's Place Rescue

When someone discovered a tiny kitten alone in the bathroom at their workplace, they weren't sure where he had come from or what to do. They reached out to Poofer's Place and sent photos of the kitten. When the rescue saw his condition, they knew he needed help. Now named Grant, the kitten was extremely thin, dehydrated, and had a deep injury on his hip where it appeared something had caught and torn his skin open. Poofer's Place immediately stepped in to care for Grant, keeping him warm and comfortable while assessing his condition and providing the supportive care he needed. His injury also requires veterinary attention, creating an unexpected expense for the rescue. Your donation will help cover Grant's veterinary care and the treatment he needs as he heals. With your support, he can recover from his injury and have the chance to grow into a happy, healthy cat. Poofer's Place is committed to caring for cats and kittens who have nowhere else to go. In Cleveland, there is no shelter that accepts cats, making the rescue an important safety net for animals in need. Thank you for helping Poofer's Place care for Grant and continue being there for cats who need them most. ❤️

Help Ginger Get the Second Chance He Almost Lost ❤️

Cleveland, TX • Poofer's Place Rescue

When Ginger showed up on a family's property in Colony Ridge in Liberty County, Texas he was clearly in desperate need of help. He was weak, extremely thin, and struggling to breathe. With the family preparing to leave town and no local shelter available to take cats, they were running out of options. They were considering having Ginger euthanized. Thankfully, they reached out before that decision was made. Poofer's Place stepped in and gave this sweet boy the chance he desperately needed. Instead of losing his life because there was nowhere else for him to go, Ginger is now safe and receiving the veterinary care and supportive treatment he needs. His condition is serious, and his recovery will take time. But Ginger is fighting, and Poofer's Place is determined to give him every opportunity to regain his strength and find out what kind of future is possible for him. Caring for a cat who arrives this sick comes with significant veterinary expenses, and Poofer's Place cannot do it alone. Your donation will help cover Ginger's veterinary care, medications, supportive treatment, nutrition, and the ongoing care he needs as he works toward recovery. Ginger came to them with nowhere else to turn. Thanks to one family who reached out and a rescue willing to say yes, he now has a chance. Please help Poofer's Place give Ginger the second chance he almost didn't get. Every donation, no matter the size, can help keep him safe and give him the care he needs to heal. Thank you for helping Ginger fight for his future.

Help Prince Begin His Next Chapter

Cleveland, TX • Poofer's Place Rescue

Prince is a fighter and a survivor. At around seven years old, he lived through a house fire. Unfortunately, his hardships did not end there. For the past year, he has struggled with chronic ear infections that repeatedly returned despite treatment, leaving him in ongoing pain and discomfort. Poofer’s Place Rescue recently discovered the cause: multiple polyps growing deep inside Prince’s ear canal. Because of their size and location, the veterinarian was unable to remove them safely. After seeking a second opinion, the rescue learned that Prince’s best chance for lasting relief is a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA), a major surgery that will remove the diseased ear canal. The procedure carries risks, and the road ahead is understandably frightening. But without surgery, Prince will continue living with the chronic pain he has endured for far too long. If all goes well, this operation could finally give him the comfort and quality of life he deserves. Once Prince has healed, the hope is that he will be healthy enough to begin his next chapter in a loving home. But first, he urgently needs our help. Please donate toward Prince’s surgery and recovery. Every contribution will help Poofer’s Place Rescue give this brave cat freedom from pain. And the chance to finally feel safe, healthy, and loved.
