Mama Jackie & Baby Jenna

Mama Jackie & Baby Jenna were hours from losing everything. They need your help!

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Mama Jackie and her tiny 6-week-old daughter, Jenna, arrived at a Texas shelter as strays on August 5. Just five days later, they were scheduled for euthanasia. They were terrified, severely matted, and desperately needed help. Jackie, only 2 years old, also had two old fractures in her front leg that could not be repaired. ShelterFree Rescue NY couldn't let these two die, and they refused to save one without the other. They tagged them just hours before their scheduled euthanasia and a volunteer drove them to a foster home more than two hours away. For the first time, Jackie and Jenna were safe. They were bathed, fed, loved, and given the medical care they had been missing. But their medical journey is far from over. Both are being treated for sarcoptic mange, a highly contagious condition that can even affect humans. Jackie is also battling an upper respiratory infection, and her injured front leg is causing her significant problems. She will need an amputation and spay to finally give her a chance at a comfortable life. Jenna is only six weeks old. She should be growing up carefree with her mother—not facing the aftermath of neglect and shelter euthanasia. They've already incurred veterinary expenses, and Jackie's upcoming surgeries will add significantly more. They desperately need your help to keep these two together and give Mama Jackie the treatment she needs. Please consider donating toward their medical care. Every contribution helps with their treatment, surgery, medications, and recovery. They were given a second chance because someone said yes when the shelter was about to say goodbye. Now they need all of us to keep saying yes.

Ginger

Ginger is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in WHITESTONE, NY, who needs $2,000 for medical treatment.

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Meet Ginger—pulled from the BARC Shelter in Texas just minutes before euthanasia, Ginger was just about out of time, but thanks to the love of Shelter Free Rescue NY, timing, and a foster mom named Emily, she was given another chance at life. Ginger’s body tells a story of survival—years of abuse, neglect, overbreeding, and even being shot at. She’s battling heart failure from untreated heartworm, mange, arthritis, and two BB gun wounds that still show up on her X-rays. And yet, despite it all, she continues to fight, greet each day with hope, and trust the gentle hands that now care for her. Ginger is safe in an incredible foster home, but her medical needs are overwhelming. Her ongoing treatments, medications, and care costs are adding up fast—and we need your help to keep her fighting. Every dollar goes directly toward Ginger’s medical care and gives her the comfort, love, and dignity she deserves in her golden years. 💛 Please donate today to help Ginger continue her journey from pain to peace. Together, we can show her that love always wins. Hopefully, she will find her forever home soon who will unconditionally love her. Update 10/26/25 Shelter Free Rescue NY is continuing to work with a cardiologist for Ginger to treat her heart failure from untreated heartworm. She can't breath on her own, so she is on oxygen and undergoing multiple treatments. Please continue to support her! Update 12/5/25 Ginger is still battling heartworm, but she's facing it like a warrior. She is on meds that keep her calm to be able to fight the heartworm. She has a home oxygen kit in case of an emergency. 1/5/26 Update Ginger will soon be going for her 5 heartworm injections that are desperately needed. Hopefully, our girl is strong enough to survive them. Her amazing foster mom has been taking phenomenal care of her. Ginger had a scare and was back at the hospital, but now she is back home and resting for her upcoming treatment. Thank you for your continued support as she continues to fight!

Be Luna's Second Chance

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Little Luna is just 1 year old. She’s barely old enough to understand the world around her, and yet she’s already experienced deep betrayal. She came to ShelterFree New York as an owner surrender and was quickly adopted. But just 24 hours later, Luna was returned. Her new adopter never gave her a chance to adjust to her new life. And worse, he admitted to hitting her and punishing her for accidents, despite never taking her outside. At just 8 weeks old, Luna had already learned fear instead of love. She never even got a chance to just be a puppy. Thankfully, she was sent to a trusted board-and-train facility in upstate New York, where she’s now receiving the care, patience, and training she desperately needs. She's learning basic commands, how to trust again, and how to enjoy life as the playful, loving pup she was meant to be. But healing comes at a cost. Her training and care total over $700 a month, and as a small rescue, they simply can’t do this alone. They need your support to fund her training and spay surgery and get this baby girl adopted out to a family who loves her more than the world itself. Thank you for caring for sweet Luna.

Darla's Counting on You: Please Support the Cost of Boarding

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Over seven months ago, Darla was found after giving birth to a litter of puppies and in need of safety. Shelter Free Rescue in New York had secured a loving foster home, but at the last minute, the family backed out. With nowhere else to go, Darla was placed in a boarding facility in Texas. Since arriving at Urban Mutts Boarding Facility, Darla has worked hard to learn trust, socialization, and confidence. With the help of trainers and volunteers, she’s made incredible progress, undoubtedly earning the love and admiration of everyone she meets. But boarding was never meant to be a permanent solution. At $600 per month, the costs of her stay are quickly adding up to over $4,000 so far, and there’s still no foster or adopter in sight, so this cost will only keep growing. As wonderful as the staff are, Darla needs a stable, loving home where she can truly thrive and live out her life. Darla is a resilient, gentle soul who’s already done the hard work of raising a litter and learning to trust again. Now she just needs a second chance and a community willing to believe in her. Will you please support the cost of her facility stay until she can find her forever home? She's counting on you!

Emberly’s Journey: A Mother’s Hope

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Mama Emberlee was abandoned while she was heavily pregnant, left to survive on the streets of Texas and give birth on her own. She wandered, searching for food, for safety, or for someone to care. Then, a kind woman saw her and asked Shelter Free Rescue NY if they could help care for her, and of course, they couldn't refuse. So thankfully, Mama Emberly was able to give birth to 11 puppies with the help of her compassionate caretakers. Tragically, one did not make it. The rescue was then able to provide Emberly with a full checkup and the treatment she needed after giving birth. The woman who found Mama Emberly is currently fostering her and all of her puppies and giving them a loving and safe home they deserve. However, caring for 11 dogs comes at no small fee. The rescue is supplying their foster care with food, supplies, and medical care, and funds are being stretched thin. Emberly and her pups have already received their first round of vaccinations, and in April, Emberly will be spayed. The puppies will soon need another round of shots. Your donation ensures these sweet souls have food, warmth, and the medical care they need to grow strong and find forever homes. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for your generous donation🐶 Update 4/14/25 Mama Emberlee and her puppies need their 2nd round vaccinations, fecal, microchip, and health certificate for adoption and travel. The cost for all of this is $649.

Mama Blair’s Second Chance: A Mother’s Plea for Help

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

Mama Blair, also known as Darla, along with her 8 puppies had almost run out of time at BARC Animal Shelter in Texas. They were set to be euthanized. Fortunately, the compassionate team at Shelter Free Rescue NY stepped in and rescued them all. Now, they are safe in a loving foster home, where a wonderful woman is caring for them. But caring for 9 dogs comes at a cost—$600 a month goes to their foster care, plus veterinary expenses. Mama Blair and her pups have already been treated for worms and received a full vet check-up. The puppies will soon need their first round of vaccinations, and Mama Blair is scheduled to be spayed. Shelter Free Rescue NY can't do this without your help. Can you help them give this sweet mama and her babies the care they need? Every donation—big or small—makes a difference and goes directly towards their care and vet bills. 🙏 Donate today and help us give them the future they deserve. Thank you for your generosity!

Rescued From a Puppy Mill: Brynn’s New Beginning

WHITESTONE, NY • Shelter Free Rescue NY

For the first two years of her life, Brynn never knew kindness. Trapped in a cruel and dirty puppy mill in Pennsylvania, she was nothing more than a breeding machine—neglected, scared, and denied the love every dog deserves. When she was rescued by a dedicated foster with Shelter Free Rescue NY, she was broken, both in spirit and in health. Luckily, Brynn was given warmth, patience, and a quiet space to heal. She has been vaccinated, treated for worms, has an appointment to be spayed in April, and also needs complete bloodwork—all of which comes out to around $500. Brynn is still learning the basics of being a beloved pet—meaning, basic commands and potty training are still high on her "to-do" list. Blankets for her comfort and wee-wee pads (to help keep her fosters sane!) would be extremely appreciated. The real hurdle, however, is getting Brynn's costly medical needs met to get her onto her next chapter: Forever! No amount is too small, and we appreciate each and every donation that is given. Every donation, monetary or physical items, every share, every ounce of compassion can make a difference. Can you help this sweet soul recover from her past and get the second chance she deserves? 🐶❤️
