Gus
Gus is a nine-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgeries.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
When you look at his worried, kind eyes, you just want to hug Gus and tell him, "You're going to be OK now. You are safe and loved." Before Southern California Pit Bull Rescue saved Gus, he had reason to be concerned. He was a pit bull sitting in an animal shelter covered in tumors. The shelter deemed him unadoptable, and he was supposed to be euthanized. But when Mark R. from the rescue group heard about Gus, he got the dog a stay of execution, and then Mark got Gus out of there! "We rescued Gus in hopes of giving him a great life," Mark tells Waggle. "It's heartbreaking to see such a loving dog treated like this. Just thrown out like the trash. Unspeakable." Gus has trouble walking because of a tumor on his foot. He has another growth that is bleeding and infected. His ears were backyard butchered and were full of dirt. His teeth are horrible, his front teeth are missing, and he can't chew hard food. He's currently running a fever from an infection. With your help, Gus can get all the surgeries he needs to remove the masses and address his teeth at VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital. "A life filled with love is what he deserves," Mark says. "He's such a gentle soul that loves to be with humans. Gus deserves better. He's suffered a lifetime of neglect."

Stanley
Stanley is a five-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
To see Stanley's emaciated body and legs struggling to walk is heartbreaking. The sweet boy ended up at an animal shelter after officers discovered him while responding to a call about animal abuse. He was spared from death at the shelter when Southern California Pit Bull Rescue saved him. "The animal control officer saw Stanley and stated he could barely walk," Mark R., from the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "His little body was covered in foxtails. He actually had foxtails that were embedded into his tongue. He had to be sedated to remove them from his tiny little body. he weighed a mere 31 pounds -- about 15 pounds underweight." Even though Stanley has been extremely neglected, he's just a sweetheart of a little guy that craves human affection. The rescue feeds him nutrient-rich puppy food several times a day to nurse him back to health. They brought Stanley to a specialist at VSEC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks to have his legs evaluated. "We learned that both of his back kneecaps are out of the joints, which has caused him to rely heavily on his front legs to walk," Mark says. "He will require the surgical skills of an orthopedic surgeon to place his kneecaps back into the joints. He can only undergo surgery on one leg at a time." Now the rescue is racing to save the day again-- this time to raise the money for Stanley's surgery. "We are a nonprofit that relies on donations," Mark says. "Along with Stanley requiring surgery on his kneecaps, he also has several broken teeth that need to be extracted."

Telly
Telly is a two-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
The deck was stacked against Telly. He was found as a stray who could not use his back left leg. He was likely hit by a car whose driver didn't stick around to help the dog. An X-ray showed Telly's hip was knocked out of the socket. A municipal animal shelter doesn't have the budget to pay for orthopedic surgery. Telly's only ticket out alive was if an adopter or rescue group saved him. The shelter contacted Mark. R., who runs Southern California Pit Bull Rescue. "Only one in six hundred Pit Bulls make it out of a shelter," Mark tells Waggle. And when Mark heard about Telly, he made sure the dog beat the odds -- and saved him. Telly now lives with a foster family who loves him. He needs surgery immediately to fix his hip. Telly also had terrible ear infections. He's on pain medication and antibiotics. The rescue is trying to raise the money for Telly to have his life-changing operation at House Of Paws Veterinary Clinic. "Because of his dislocated hip, limiting his mobility is important. Once he undergoes surgery, Telly will undergo months of rehabilitation on his surgically repaired hip. His hip will have to form scar tissue to hold his hip bone in place. Although he will be able to walk, his activities will have to be monitored," Mark says. Telly's foster family is committed to helping him post-op. They are even prepared to use a sling to help him start walking. All Telly and the rescue needs are funds to cover his medical bill. "We are a nonprofit that depends on donations to help the voiceless," Mark says. "Telly will be able to go on to have a great life because of your generosity." Please help Telly walk without pain!

Jarbi
Jarbi is a four-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $900 for urgent dental surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Despite all Jarbi has been through, he is one of the most resilient and loving dogs to come through the doors of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue. "He was found as a stray," Mark R., from the rescue, tells Waggle. "Even though he was microchipped, his family never came to the shelter to rescue him. Then poor Jarbi developed kennel cough and was placed into isolation, alone and out of public view. Not even the volunteers were allowed to see him and say hello." Mark has a huge heart, and when he hears of dogs like Jarbi, he races to the rescue! "Jarbi is the most loving guy in the world. He's super sweet, loves going on walks, and giving kisses. He's fit in with our pack from the moment we rescued him. Jarbi loves to run around our yard, smell the plants, and enjoy the sunshine," Mark says. But when Mark was getting all those kisses, he got a whiff of Jarbi's breath which alerted him to trouble. "His breath was horrible. When we opened his mouth, we were disgusted to see a totally rotten tooth. It was so badly infected that the infection was in his sinuses," Mark says. Mark brought Jarbi to VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital and learned Jarbi needs urgent dental surgery and antibiotics immediately. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue doesn't shy away from saving dogs with medical needs, but they rely on donations to care for them. "Just this week alone, we had four dogs that required over $5,000 in vet bills. We are a registered 501(c)(3) that depends on donations to help these amazing dogs," Mark says. The rescue is excited for Jarbi to get his surgery so he can then be posted for adoption and find the forever family he so deserves. "Jarbi has become best friends with another of our rescue dogs," Mark says. "They enjoy going on walks together and just hanging out. Jarbi is a very mild-mannered dog that listens and respects others. He's always wants to be pet and loves human interaction. He loves to hang out and be a part of the family. He's just a fun-loving guy that is looking for his new home."

Captain
Captain is a seven-month-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for emergency surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Captain laid on the concrete shelter floor for 11 days suffering in pain. A car hit him with such force it broke the femur bone in one of his legs. Animal control picked Captain up, but no one claimed him, and no one helped him. Until Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue heard about Captain. "I drove three hours from my house to the shelter to pick him up," Mark tells Waggle. "He would have been euthanized if I didn't get him. Can you imagine not being able to move for 11 days?" Mark drove Captain straight from the shelter to the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks. That's where a board-certified orthopedic surgeon performed emergency surgery on Captain to fix his leg. "It took a plate and seven pins to put his femur back together. Right now, he can only walk with a sling and needs three months of rehab. But the outlook for him is really positive!" The rescue rang up quite a tab at the animal hospital for Captain's surgery, and they're scrambling for financial help to pay it off. "Your donation goes toward giving him the type of like he deserves," Mark says. "How his owners didn't come looking for him is beyond me. It's truly just beyond me to have a puppy like that and not look for him. We will make sure he will be placed in a loving home. He's a sweetheart."

Danni
Danni is a one-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $622 for urgent surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Danni was found as a stray who was struggling to walk. She got picked up and sent to an animal control facility where the injured pup didn't have much of a chance of being adopted. As her days were numbered in the shelter, Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, came to her rescue! Besides being adorable, cute, and pretty, Mark immediately discovered that Danni loved toys. "When we went to take her from her shelter kennel, she grabbed one of her toys she had and brought it with her to her foster home," Mark tells Waggle. The medical team at All Paws Riverside Animal Hospital found Danni had a torn ACL, and she needs immediate surgery to fix it. Now Southern California Pit Bull Rescue is racing to raise donations to pay for the bill. "Her surgery is critical, and it will be life-changing," Mark says. "The longer she goes without the operation, more arthritis will form. We must get her in soon." Mark says Danni is worth every penny, and every cent someone gives to her campaign will help her recover and find the forever home she deserves. "The donations help us give these dogs quality of life. Without donations, we would not be able to continue our work. Danni is sweet, and she loves other dogs too."

Prada
Prada is a five-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery and cancer treatment.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Prada sat in an animal shelter, hoping someone would adopt her, but no one did -- likely because she had two large tumors on her body. One mass was so large it dangled from her backside. Finally, the shelter contacted Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue. And good thing they did because Prada needed immediate medical help! "The moment I saw her face, I thought she was an absolute doll," Mark tells Waggle. "Her personality is even cuter. She was clearly used for breeding and dumped. I knew I had to do everything I could to show this girl there are humans out there that love her." Prada's foster brought her to VCA Sacramento Referral Center, where a medical team removed her two tumors. Then Mark got terrible news: The larger-sized mass was a cancerous stage two mast cell tumor. Unfortunately, the surgeon could not get clean margins because of the tumor's location on the rear of Prada's body. Now she needs chemotherapy or radiation to kill any remaining cancerous cells in the area. The good news is once Prada is treated, she's expected to do well and go on with her life. The bad news: The nonprofit rescue faces thousands of dollars in medical bills for Prada's surgery, pathology, and cancer treatment. The rescue is ready to fight for Prada, but they desperately need donations to help pay her tab. "I never put a price on a dog's life," Mark says. "Having to spend thousands of dollars does not scare me. I think the dogs are worth every penny. But we really need some assistance paying for Prada's care." With your generosity, Prada will get the treatment she needs and have a happy 2022 and beyond. "She's a sweet girl," Mark says. "I look forward to giving her the best care possible and finding her forever home."

Meave
Meave is a five-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
"I saw her, and I thought, 'Oh my god! I have to help this girl,'" Mark R., from Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, tells Waggle about the moment he saw Meave in a shelter. Meave only weighs about 40 pounds but drags around three tumors hanging from her body. One is enormous! "I can't imagine carrying around a tumor this size," Mark says. Despite everything, Meave is incredibly loving. "She suffered years of neglect, and she's not holding it against any humans," Mark adds. "She's really a sweetheart. She wants to be a lap dog, but she has that huge mass between her legs." The medical team at VCA Animal Specialty Group in San Diego will remove the tumors and send them to pathology. Veterinarians will also treat Meave's horrible ear infections -- they are so awful her ears look like cauliflower on the inside. If it weren't for Southern California Pit Bull Rescue saving Meave, she would have been a victim of economic euthanasia at the shelter. "They could not care for a dog like that," Mark says. "The shelters aren't going to spend that kind of money. It's cheaper for them to euthanize the dog. And who is going to adopt a dog that has masses like that?" Mark says he is so thankful the shelter contacted him and asked if his rescue could take her. "We are blessed to be able to care for dogs like this," he says. "We think of ourselves as the voice for the voiceless. I started my rescue because of dogs like this. We are honored when we are given the opportunity to help them." Now the rescue needs your help to save Meave a second time. "Donors help us do lifesaving work like this," Mark says. "You are helping to save the life of a dog the average person would not want to adopt."

Peanut
Peanut is a four-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for an MRI and medical treatment.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Peanut was found as a stray and brought to a municipal animal control facility where he didn't stand a chance. Soon after he arrived staffers noticed Peanut struggling to walk, when he stood for too long, he shook. He also had a hard time breathing. Shelter workers knew a rescue was Peanut's only hope and contacted Mark R., from Southern California Pit Bull Rescue. "They said they really needed us to step in to provide the proper medical care for him," Mark tells Waggle. "His care was well beyond the scope of what the shelter could afford. They aren't going to spend that kind of money, and who is going to adopt a dog like that?" Mark knew Peanut would likely face economic euthanasia if he remained at the shelter. "I wasn't going to let him die," he says. So Mark rushed to the shelter and found they weren't exaggerating; Peanut is in bad shape. "He often has to eat lying down because he can't stand well. Even if he tries to walk a half-mile, he has to stop about 25 times. He also has head tremors," Mark says. The next step is for Peanut to have an MRI to help diagnosis his issues, but the scan is expensive. Veterinarians believe Peanut could have some myelopathy, an infection in his spinal cord, or he could be suffering from the long-term effects of Distemper. Though Peanut's diagnosis is unknown, Mark does know that Peanut is one of the sweetest dogs he has had in his rescue. "We feel blessed actually that someone dumped him because he landed with us," Mark says. "Dogs like this are why I started my rescue. He just wants to put his head in my lap constantly and is so loving. We are honored to have him in our care." Please help the rescue figure out Peanut the Pit Bull's medical mystery so he can get the care he needs!

Ella
Ella is a one-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $1,000 for heart surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Ella had a rotten start to life. When she was a puppy, she was attacked by another dog and needed surgery. But when a veterinarian examined Ella, the doctor found she had a level five heart murmur. That's one of the most severe murmurs; it's so loud you can feel it by holding your hand against a dog's chest. Mark S., with Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, tells Waggle that Ella's owners could not afford her medical care, so they dumped her in an animal shelter. "How horrible is that? The dog will cost too much money, so off to the shelter you go," Mark says. The shelter then contacted Mark. "They said, 'This puppy needs heart surgery,'" he says. "Who is going to adopt a dog like that? She would have never made it out of the shelter." So Mark saved Ella immediately. The VSEC Veterinary Specialty And Emergency Center Of Thousand Oaks' cardiology team performed an echocardiogram and a balloon valvuloplasty surgery. During the procedure, a surgeon used a balloon to inflate Ella's defective heart valve, so it expands and works better. Though the operation was expensive, Mark says it was worth every penny; Ella is so much happier. "It totally changed her life," he adds. "She didn't have a lot of energy; now she does. She can be active. She's expected to live a full productive life. If she didn't have the surgery, she would have only lived five to six years." Now the nonprofit group is trying to pay off Ella's surgery tab and hopes Waggle's generous pet lovers help Ella and donate. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue doesn't turn away dogs with costly needs. "That's why I started this rescue, not for the healthy dogs, but for dogs who will probably never make it out of the shelter unless someone pays their medical bills. That's what my rescue is about," Mark says. Please have a heart and donate to help Ella's!

MOJO
Mojo is a one-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $1,688 for leg surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Mojo was struck by a car, the driver took off and left her to die. She was so severely injured she could not move. Then a good Samaritan saw the dog on the side of the road, stopped, picked her up, and brought her to a shelter. "We were heartbroken when we heard about her," Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, tells Waggle. His nonprofit organization raced to Mojo's rescue after the shelter made a post saying the dog's injuries were too severe for them to handle. "My rescue fixes dogs like this. This is what we do. No dog is too challenging for us. We are the voice for the voiceless," he says. Once Mark got Mojo to VSEC, Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center Of Thousand Oaks, even he was surprised at the extent of her injuries. "I had no idea how severe she was," he says. Mojo's leg was broken in two places, her hip was dislocated, and her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) on her knee was torn on another leg. She needed emergency surgery. Then Mark brought Mojo home where he and his wife, Liz R., cared for her. "I had to walk her with a sling to get her to go out to go to the bathroom. My wife had to hold her by her leash," Mark says. Mojo was weak from everything she had been through. "We had to hand feed her. She was so dejected she would not eat or drink," Liz says. "I had to take water and squirt it in her mouth. She had been laying in the shelter for five days. She laid there until she was almost dead." The beautiful dog with gorgeous hazel eyes needed more surgeries to fix her legs. Her medical bills topped $14,000. Now Mojo is doing very well, but the rescue is still trying to pay off her tab. They say seeing Mojo walk again and not be in pain is priceless, "Pit bulls are amazing," Mark says. "She is such a resilient dog. You would have never known she had surgery." Mark wants to thank anyone who can give to Mojo's campaign; paying off her medical bills helps the rescue save more pups in the future just like her, "We depend on people who are generous and tenderhearted to be able to help the animals who need us."

Big Momma
Big Momma is a 12-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for immediate surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
When Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, spotted Big Momma in need at a shelter, he could immediately tell the ten-year-old pooch was fun, friendly, and full of life. "This loving gal has a smile that will knock your socks off," Mark tells Waggle. Soon after Mark saved her, the rescue's veterinarian, Dr. Koltfarber at VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital, discovered the poor dog was covered in tumors! "She even had one on her tail. The tumor was so large that it moved when her tail wagged," Mark adds. Big Momma needs surgery to remove seven tumors immediately; one is even wrapped around a toe on her paw. The nonprofit rescue depends on donations to help pay for all the medical care the dogs the group saves need. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue has saved 90 dogs so far, and with your help, that number will keep growing. Mark is also fostering Big Momma and says she truly lives up to her name. She immediately took on the role of "mama" to Mark's other rescue dogs, showing them love and comfort on their healing journeys.

Sandy Beach
Sandy Beach is a 10-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $1,205 for medical treatment.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Sandy Beach was found as a stray in Hemmitt, California and was taken to the Ramona Humane Society. She was estimated to be around 9 years old and had been used for profit. This sweet girl had horrible mammary masses on both sides of her body along with a tumor on her neck that was right up against her jugular vein. Mark R. from Southern California Pit Bull Rescue knew there was a very slim chance of her being adopted, so he stepped in to rescue her. She may have had a tough time in life, but Mark notes, “Sandy Beach is super mellow, affectionate, sweet, and loves to give kisses!” The rescue immediately took her to a veterinarian, and she underwent two surgeries to remove the mammary tumors. This poor girl developed an infection and had to be hospitalized, but thanks to her life-saving surgeries funded by the rescue, she got on the road to recovery. She was recently adopted along with her best pal, Frankie, as the two of them became a bonded pair at the rescue. Both dogs are happy as can be with their new family, and Sandy Beach especially loves her 9-year-old human sister! In order to pay for Sandy Beach’s outstanding medical invoices, Southern California Pit Bull Rescue needs help from generous donors like you. By contributing to her recovery, you’ll also be helping this rescue organization get more animals the medical care that they need so that they can be adopted into their loving forever homes.

Sadie
Sadie is a three-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $1,288 for critical care.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
What you can't see from Sadie's heart-wrenching shelter photos is how she sat shaking in her kennel and had lost hope. Her face was cracked and bleeding. She lost a large amount of hair on her body and was in agony. "She was trembling with fear," Mark R., the head of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, tells Waggle. "It broke my heart seeing the condition she was in." When a rescue volunteer first saw Sadie, she contacted Mark, who immediately went to the shelter and saved the dog. He was utterly perplexed about what had happened to Sadie. "Her face was covered in dried blood," he says. "I didn't know if she was attacked by other dogs? Was she used as a bait dog? Was it some sort of mites?" Mark got Sadie in the car and drove as fast as he could to VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital, where the medical team went to work trying to help her. Sadie's skin was so dry her tear ducts stopped producing tears. It appears that Sadie may have been used for breeding and had many litters of puppies. "She was probably just a money-making machine for someone, and when they didn't want her anymore, they just threw her away," Mark adds. After many tests, it appeared horrendous food allergies were the culprit behind Sadie's pain and skin condition. Sadie got medication to ease her suffering, antibiotics to help her skin infection, was treated for all her medical issues, and was spayed; her puppy-making days are over. The rescue spent more than $2,000 on Sadie's care, and they're hoping big-hearted pet lovers will help donate toward her veterinarian bills. "I can't rescue these amazing dogs without people opening their hearts and their wallets," Mark says. "We are nonprofit and depend on people helping us help the voiceless."

Baby Lacy
Baby Lacy is a 6-month-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for medical treatment.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Baby Lacy got off to a rough start in life when she was just a little 6-month-old puppy. A family showed up to the shelter with her lying in the back of a pick-up-truck. It was clear that she was badly injured, and that’s when Southern California Pit Bull Rescue stepped in to have her examined. Her rescuer, Mark R., explains, “She couldn’t walk and it was clear that her right leg was broken. But after being examined at the emergency hospital, it turned out that both of her back legs were broken. Poor Baby Lacy had to undergo two surgeries, as every bone in her back legs and paws were snapped. The rescue covered the cost of her procedures in the hopes of getting her back up on her feet. Even though she’s had a tough recovery and had to wear a cast for 6 weeks, Mark notes, “She’s just such a super sweet girl.” Back at the rescue, Baby Lacy made friends with another rescue dog, Hope, and the two of them were recently adopted together by a loving family who will shower them with affection for the rest of their lives. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue needs help from generous donors to cover the cost of Baby Lacy’s medical invoices, as the surgeries were quite expensive. With your contributions, you’ll be helping the rescue to continue to get veterinary care for animals who desperately need it so that they can go on to find their forever homes and have happy lives, just like Baby Lacy.

Hope
Hope is a 12-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for mass removal surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Hope was a sad, sick, stray dog who ended up in an animal shelter with a long list of medical issues: She had diabetes, rotten teeth, and was almost entirely blind; on top of that, she was a pit bull – and not likely to be adopted. That's when Southern California Pit Bull Rescue stepped in to save the emaciated dog. "Every single bone in her body was showing, and yet she was just a happy-go-lucky girl!" Mark R., the group's founder, tells Waggle. The rescue paid for surgeries to have her cataracts fixed and a dental procedure to remove some of her terrible teeth. Just when the rescue thought they battled the worst of her medical issues, Hope developed seizures due to her unmanaged diabetes. She spent five days in VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital fighting for her life. But she pulled through! Then Hope developed tiny masses on her stomach that would rupture continuously. Hope needed four surgeries to have the masses removed. Now she is doing well. "Hope is the most resilient dog I've ever seen," Mark R. says. Southern California Pit Bull Rescue needs your help to pay for Hope's medical bills. The rescue has saved over 90 dogs; a majority also had severe medical needs. With your donations, the group will be able to continue giving the medical care that animals in Southern California so desperately need.

Baby Jesse
Baby Jesse is a Pit bull puppy in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for surgery to repair broken elbow.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Jesse is a 4 month old puppy who found herself in a shelter, moments from being euthanized. Her owner was a homeless man in Bakersfield, California who was arrested and Jesse was transferred to the local shelter. As fate had it, Jesse was diagnosed a broken paw. "The shelter would prefer to spend $8 to euthanize a dog instead of fixing its paw", Mark R., founder of So Cal Pit Bull Rescue stated. He was asked to take the pup into his care, which he did without hesitation. A 90 minute drive to the shelter to save a dog's life is not out of the ordinary for Mark's team. Jesse is now the most fun-loving, rambunctious puppy you've ever met. Rest and recuperation aren't going to be easy with this little one! So Cal Pit Bull Rescue needs your help to pay for her incredibly expensive surgery. Any donation will help! With rest and a lot of TLC, Jesse is expected to make a full recovery. When she's in the clear, she will be spayed and her umbilical hernia (as though she doesn't have enough with her broken elbow!) will be repaired. So Cal Pit Bull Rescue only adopts out their pups after all follow ups are cleared, and the dogs have been spayed or neutered. So Cal Pit Bull Rescue had to go through 3 different emergency hospitals until finally one was available with an orthopedic surgeon. Sweet Jesse was diagnosed with a broken elbow, a difficult break to repair. She was scheduled for surgery the following day, and had to be kept sedated and on meds to control the pain she was experiencing overnight.

Emma
Emma is a ten-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for tumor removal and dental surgery.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
When Mark R., the founder of Southern California Pit Bull Rescue, went to a shelter to pick up a puppy, he ended up leaving not only with the pup but with a senior dog named Emma, who he could not leave behind. "Emma is an old gal with a huge mammary mass hanging from her abdomen," Mark tells Waggle. "Her teeth are rotten and broken, and she can't bear the pain to eat kibble or treats. Her nipples are huge, suggesting that she was used for breeding. She looks like she was a used-for-profit dog." Mark rushed Emma to the VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital, where the medical team ran bloodwork, tests and took X-Rays. Emma needs immediate surgery to remove the tumor in her mammary chain and have some teeth extracted. On a positive note, Emma is healthy enough for the operation--- but the nonprofit group needs your help paying for her medical bills. The rescue is cheering for her to have a happy life ahead of her once she feels better.

Josie
Josie is a 10-year-old Pit Bull in Simi Valley, CA, who needs $2,000 for Cancer Treatment.
Simi Valley, CA • Southern California Pit Bull Rescue
Josie was originally in a shelter in San Bernardino. This particular shelter is known to be a high kill shelter, especially when it comes to Pit Bulls. An independent rescuer got Josie adopted into what seemed like a loving home... Fast forward 5 years, and Josie wasn't feeling so hot. Her family took her to the local veterinarian and it was determined that she had a 6 inch cancerous tumor. Her family gave up on Josie and sent her back to the independent rescuer, claiming Josie's condition was just too much money for them. The independent rescuer deemed that Josie would live out her days with her... until Mark R., founder of So Cal Pit Bull Rescue got wind of the situation. Josie's cancer treatment costs over $500 per month, and will be ongoing for the rest of her days. So Cal Pit Bull Rescue is asking for donations to help with Josie's monthly veterinary invoices. Josie now receives a treatment called Palladia, an expensive medication used to treat mass cell tumors in dogs. Each pill costs $25, and has to be given 3 times a week. Josie also receives monthly bloodwork. Josie's tumor is slowly shrinking, but she is not a candidate for surgery due to the mass on her liver and the placement of the tumor in her throat. Palladia is Josie's only option. Mark rushed Josie to an oncologist for a 2nd opinion. It was there that they found a mass on Josie's liver, which made her ineligible for chemotherapy... the mass on the liver would consume all the chemo and the tumor in her throat would never decrease in size. So Cal Pit Bull Rescue did not give up.
