Lilly Red

Lilly Red is a 14 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $880 for Ultrasound and Tests For Diagnosis and Treatment.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Lilly Red spent over 12 years of her life being picked on by the larger dogs in her backyard and has the scars to prove it. Her irresponsible owner never did anything to protect her, never let her into the house, and never gave her the care that she needed. When the shelter called and told us that Lilly needed a soft place to land, we opened our sanctuary to her. After almost 2 years of sanctuary life, Lilly Red suddenly started to urinate frequently and was perpetually thirsty. What started out looking like a possible bladder infection has turned into something more mysterious and serious. Lab tests haven't revealed the cause of her discomfort yet and Lilly needs imaging and specialized tests at Madison Vet Hospital to diagnose and treat her illness. Understandably, Lilly Red is fearful of larger dogs, but she loves humans and she loves to be petted and groomed. Her tail wags constantly when her human caretakers are close by. Her sweet eyes melt our hearts and we love her dearly. We are a registered, nonprofit animal rescue that specializes in providing lifetime care to senior and special needs animals. We rely on donations to pay for medical bills and need to raise funds to help with Lilly Red's medical needs. Can you help Lilly?

Jilly

Jilly is a 13 year old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $408 for Laceration Repair.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Jilly came to us when she was just 3 years old and she made it apparent that she did not want to leave the sanctuary. She's a bit different that most greyhounds, but she's been thriving here for the last 10 years and we've learned how to attend to her needs. Jilly was startled from her sleep when a very loud truck accidentally dropped it's load near the sanctuary and she tried to run from her bed. Her old legs didn't work well and Jilly fell. The laceration in her thin, greyhound skin needed to be repaired and Jilly needed antibiotics and pain medications to help her heal. Madison Vet Hospital has provided her care for years. Jilly is extremely shy and nervous, known as a true spook in the greyhound world. While she's comfortable with her caretaker, she will not approach strangers and gets very upset with loud noises, thunder and a change in her routine. As she ages, her cognitive abilities have declined and she gets confused easily. We are a registered, nonprofit animal rescue that specializes in providing lifetime care to senior and special needs animals. We rely on donations to pay for medical bills and need to raise funds to help with Jilly's medical needs. Can you help Jilly?

Sydney

Sydney is a 12 year old Beagle in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,188 for Dental Surgery and Extraction of Rotting Teeth.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Confiscated as part of an abuse/neglect case, Sydney found herself at a shelter where she was attacked by another dog. Thankfully, HERO Hound Rescue pulled her from the shelter and many compassionate volunteer drivers formed a transport, allowing her to travel comfortably to our sanctuary. She quickly settled as she started on her healing journey. Sydney suffered from malnutrition and an infestation of parasites. Her ears were heavily infected and she’s deaf. Her right eye has epithelial corneal dystrophy, both eyes have cataracts, and she’s going blind. Most troubling are her rotting teeth and she requires dental surgery to relieve the pain and quell the oral infection. Madison Vet Hospital is treating Sydney for all her medial issues. Surprisingly sweet and gentle in spite of all that she’s suffered, Sydney gives new meaning to the word “LOVE.” This tenderhearted survivor not only loves following us around, she also loves being held and cuddled. Determined not to let her abusive past affect her future Sydney is a role model for her caretakers as she spreads her warmth to everyone she meets. As a registered nonprofit animal rescue, we provide sanctuary and lifetime medical care for special needs animals and we rely on donations to pay for their vet bills. Sydney is one of those special needs hounds that needs your support. Can you help us help her?

Manny

Manny is a 12 year old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $932 for X-Rays and Surgery.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Manny was adopted by wonderful adopters many years ago, but returned to us due to a death in the family. We welcomed Manny with open arms and he reunited with many greyhound friends here at the sanctuary. Manny is 12.5 years old and has been increasingly unsteady on his feet. He took a tumble and needs x-rays to help diagnose his condition and surgery to repair a wound. Madison Vet Hospital has been treating Manny since his arrival at the sanctuary. Manny's sweet gentle nature brings daily smiles to his caretakers. Although he is very old, he greets everyday with joy. He is a role model to us all and we love him dearly. Stormy

Stormy is a 12 year old Beagle in Geneva, OH, who needs $90 for Follow Up Testing for Cushing's and Heart Disease.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Abandoned by her owner, Stormy was left to wander aimlessly. Finally, someone called the shelter, and Stormy was brought in as a stray. Her condition was dire and her huge, distended abdomen puzzled the shelter vet. At that point, she was transferred to our sanctuary. After many tests, Stormy was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease, a heart condition, proteinuria and severe dental disease. Stormy has been in our care for 14 months and requires regular testing of the medication levels in her system as well as thorough exams for her heart and other conditions and a panel of lab tests during a hospital stay. Madison Vet Hospital has been treating Stormy since her arrival at the sanctuary. It's time to have Stormy tested again. Despite all that Stormy has endured, she is the sweetest beagle who is determined not to let her serious health issues get her down. With a hearty appetite, Stormy lets us know when she's hungry and when she has to go outside. She's mellow and friendly with all the other dogs here and loves to snuggle with her caretakers, too. Stormy has the most endearing facial expressions and makes us smile. We are a non-profit animal sanctuary that provides high quality, lifetime care for severely ill animals, like Stormy, that have no other options. DJ

DJ is a 8 year old Mix-Breed in Geneva, OH, who needs $558 for Dental and Neuter Surgery.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

If ever a dog deserved joy, it’s DJ. This sweet and sociable 8-year-old found himself at a shelter and in need of extensive medical care. When we learned of his needs, we stepped up and took him into our sanctuary program. While his list of ailments is both heartbreaking and long, DJ has a good chance of recovering and will live out his senior years surrounded by loving caretakers. DJ came to us with heartworm. and a large intestinal and external parasite load which lead to malnutrition, infections and the death of most of the hair follicles on his back. Now treated and free of all parasites and infections and at his proper weight, DJ needs dental and neuter surgery as the next step in his healing journey. Madison Vet Hospital is providing ongoing care for DJ. Clearly a beauty, large and black, like a black bear, with the most mesmerizing eyes, DJ has warmed up to his caretakers and the other canines here, knowing that he’s safe and he's turned into a wiggly, friendly soul. He has an eye condition that requires daily care but he's good about standing for his treatments. He also likes having his pills wrapped in pill pockets! As a nonprofit rescue, we take in animals with medical needs and provide them with the highest quality, lifetime care possible. We rely on donations to pay for vet care. Mabel

Mabel is a 12 year old Beagle in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,154 for Hernia Repair, Dental Extractions and Spay Surgery.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Mabel was a stray and placed in an overcrowded shelter where she was at high risk for euthanasia given her advanced age, heartworm status, and large, distended belly. Nothing is known about her past, but it’s evident that she never received the care that she needed. That is changing and she is now free of all parasites and respiratory infections and ready for the next step in her healing journey. Mabel has a tennis ball-sized inguinal hernia, advanced dental disease, and resistant ear infections. She will need surgery to repair the hernia, extract her rotting teeth and be spayed. Diagnostics and medications are needed for her ear infections. Madison Vet Hospital will continue to provide for her veterinary care. Sweeter than sweet and surprisingly well mannered, Mabel never barks, and gets along easily with the other dogs here. Bright as a button, she absolutely adores snuggling and being held, has a lusty appetite, and takes her medications like a champ. Mabel’s soft, melting gaze barely masks her unspeakable pain. And yet, this ailing Beagle is 20 pounds of pure love! We are a non-profit animal sanctuary that provides high quality, lifetime care for severely ill animals, like Mabel, that have no other options. Lacey

Lacey is a 10 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $568 for Abdominal X-Rays and Ultrasound.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Coming from a rough and neglectful past where she was most likely used as a breeding dog and then dumped by her owner and ran as a stray, Lacey is surprisingly sweet and kind and, above all, forgiving, even through the numerous tests, procedures and surgeries that she endured when she first arrived. A year after being nursed back to health, Lacey started feeling ill again. She started losing too much protein through her kidneys and her appetite waned. We now need to run x-rays and ultrasound to check for masses and other abnormalities that may explain why Lacey isn't responding to the medications as we had hoped that she would. Madison Vet Hospital is providing for all of her medical needs Thriving on her caretakers’ love and affection, she loves snuggling in blankets, being bathed and massaged, and is easy to groom. Friendly and well-behaved at the vet, where she’s a special favorite, she is as smart as she is sweet, and is always in tune with what’s going on around her. She loves to play with her caretakers and several of the hounds. And, she loves to sing her "houndie" songs. We provide lifetime care for animals with medical needs and rely solely on donations to pay for their vet bills. We have raised funds for Lacey’s recent lab tests but need help with getting donations for her imaging diagnostics. Please help this deserving hound. Thanks!!

DJ

DJ is a 7-year-old Mix in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,464 for Treatment for Heartworm, Intestinal Parasites, Skin and Ear Infections.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

If ever a dog deserved joy, it’s DJ. This sweet and sociable 7-year-old found himself at a shelter and in need of extensive medical care. When we learned of his needs, we stepped up and took him into our sanctuary program. While his list of ailments is both heartbreaking and long, DJ has a good chance of recovering and will live out his senior years surrounded by loving caretakers. Clearly a beauty at one time, large and black, like a black bear, with the most mesmerizing eyes, DJ has already warmed up to his caretakers, knowing that he’s safe in their capable hands. Moving slowly and sedately at times, sniffing about curiously and breathing in the fresh air of a new life, he’s begun making friends with the other dogs and looks forward to keeping them fur-ever. DJ came to us suffering from horrible, painful infections in both ears that made touching his head impossible and required sedation to be medicated. Now cured, he's turned into a wiggly friendly soul. He has an eye condition that requires daily care but he's good about standing for his treatments. He also likes having his pills wrapped in pill pockets and then rolled in powdered kibble topper. Having tested positive for heartworms, DJ is also afflicted by a heavy intestinal parasite load that has led, inevitably, to malnutrition. He had such a heavy flea infestation that it caused severe skin infections and fleabite dermatitis and hair loss across most of his back that will take months to re-grow. DJ is currently receiving extendeed treatments for heartworm and the other parasites. As a nonprofit rescue, we take in animals with medical needs and provide them with the highest quality, lifetime care possible. We rely on donations to pay for vet care. While we have raised some funds for DJ's lab tests, we need funds for the rest of his treatments.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney is a 2-year-old American Pitbull Terrier in Sandusky, OH, who needs $2,000 for Tail Amputation, Neuter, Hospitalization and Medications.

Sandusky, OH • Humane Society of Erie County

Meet Walt Disney! This handsome guy came to us through our rescue partners in Cleveland. He was called in to the city kennel as a stray by his own owner! Once the owner admitted it was a lie, he left Walt behind at the shelter. Walt was very skinny, but a very happy boy and never looked back as his previous owner left him. Walt now lives with us at the Humane Society of Erie County in Sandusky Ohio. He will live here until he finds a future forever home. Walt is an outgoing guy who is always eager to greet us. He loves his fluffy beds and will chew his nylabones contentedly in his kennel- but is always up for a walk or playtime in the yards. Walt is an active and silly boy who just loves toys. He seems to always be moving and playing! He is nosey and always curious about what you might be up to. While he likes to be with people, he also seems to have a blast by himself. He brightens everyone's day and spreads a smile through the kennel. Walt Disney knows how to sit, and is eager to learn so much more from anyone who wants to teach him Walt Disney needs a lot of medical care before he is ready for the next chapter in his life. Walt needs all of the routine care including neutering, vaccinations, and flea treatment- but also needs testing and medications for horrible diarrhea. Walt is such a happy boy, that he also has permanently damaged his tail, and the vet has determined that it needs amputated. Dr Kinney; The Blue Collar Vet We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Marnie is a 1-year-old Aussie in Avon, OH, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Care and Leg Amputation.

Ludwig is a 1-year-old Pitbull Mix in Avon, OH, who needs $2,000 for Hospitalization, Wound Treatment, and Surgery.

Avon, OH

Ludwig was found cowering behind shopping carts outside of a store. He was emaciated, had open sores covering his body, and an open wound on his tail. He crawled between the legs of his rescuers and curled up on intake. Once Ludwig arrived to the veterinary clinic, it was discovered he had a fracture in his foot and his tail was broken and would need to be amputated. He was also very bloated and x-rays revealed his belly is very enlarged. Due to all of his medical issues, Ludwig is being hospitalized. He is receiving medicated soaks on his foot, getting rehydrated with fluids, and slowly gaining weight. Grandpa

Grandpa is a 10-year-old Coonhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,714 for Treatment for Heartworm, Pain and Dermatitis.

Geneva, OH • NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue

Grandpa was found as a stray hanging around a schoolyard, but he was most likely dumped by his former owner. When the shelter learned that he was positive for heartworms, had a chronic eye condition, and a host of other problems, they contacted us. He found a ride all the way to our sanctuary and he's been receiving medical treatment since his arrival. Grandpa looks far older than his years because of his shockingly emaciated frame. Not only is he woefully thin, he’s lived for so long in chronic pain it’s a testament to his resilience that he’s even still alive. But the sweetest, most satisfying sight of all is how much Grandpa loves leaning on us and being petted. He knows that he’s been rescued and that he’s both safe and well-loved now. Surprisingly quiet for such a big hound, Grandpa does emit a deep, low “roooo” whenever he needs something – potty, water, food, etc. Being from the Deep South, he dislikes the cold, snow is alien to him, and he revels in the warmth his blankets and jammies provide his frail, aged body. He's in good spirits now and you'd never guess that his body is filled with buckshot. The first priority is to treat Grandpa's heartworm disease, to help with the pain from his hip dysplasia, and to give him relief from his itchy skin and chronic dry eyes. Grandpa has been started on many medications and is undergoing the long process of clearing his body of heartworms. Dr. Zulandt, owner of Madison Vet Hospital is treating Grandpa. As a registered, nonprofit animal rescue, we specialize in providing lifetime care to senior and medical needs animals and we rely on donations to raise funds to pay for vet bills. Grandpa's path to better health is just beginning. Can you be a part of his journey?
