Charlotte
Charlotte is a 9-year-old Dachshund in Queen Creek, AZ, who needs $2,000 for laparoscopic vaginectomy.

Charlotte came to Happy Tails Dachshund Rescue as a stray in May. She was spotted on a busy street with a companion dog who had been hit by a car. She is currently in foster care with our rescue under the care of our veterinarian. Charlotte is 9 years old and was severely neglected by her previous owner. She is overweight, had a bad cough, her coat was patchy and, to top it all off, she had vaginal polyps and a mammary mass. Happy Tails Dachshund Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non- profit, volunteer based rescue. Our mission is to save as many Doxies from euthanasia, abuse, or abandonment and place them in happy homes. After the polyps and mass were removed, they were tested. The mass came back negative, but the polyps came back positive for cancer. Due to the delicate location of the cancer, our vet referred us to a laparoscopic surgeon, Dr. Seth Bleakley, at Care Surgery Center. He will remove any remaining cancer tissue from the area. Under the care of our vet, this sweet girl, has received meds for her cough, been spayed and had the polyps and mass removed. Charlotte has been following a healthy diet in foster care. She has lost a few pounds, can move around much better and her coat is already improving!
Choebe Ann

Choebe Ann came to me when her mom passed away and the adult children needed a home for her. For the first two years with me, she lived in a house with a yard! Her yard! Her garden. these last 3 years she lives with me in a small but cozy studio. She has thrived within the space confines, taking full advantage of the walled balcony for sunbathing and the apartment for calisthenics. It is just me and Choebe living together and we absolutely love each other's company. She is shy and wary of most other people, but she loves my cousin and my mother. Just the other night, she slept with my cousin when I was away. Choebe is very smart and communicative. She gets so traumatized by the cat carrier that I got a soft one so she doesn't make her claws bleed trying to get out. I am unemployed since March 2020. I claim what I earn with chair massage, assisting my Uncle, and cat sitting. I receive unemployment until September and continue to search for suitable work. I live in Los Angeles. I have a car payment, insurance, rent, and credit card debt. Choebe had a mast-cell tumor removed over her eye last fall. She has since developed another one just over her left eye. Cancer has spread to the lymph node. The cost of testing and consult is already 2,700, while the 5,000 from last fall is still sitting on my credit card. She will likely need radiation, chemo, steroid treatment, or a combination. She is being tested for spread right now. She enjoys screaming and running the boundaries of our apartment obstacle course while I am on zoom calls. Choebe is a very affectionate little being. She plays like a kitten, the string being her favorite toy. She has a delicate stomach so we measure her food carefully, Greenies and bone broth make her vomit.
Griffin
Griffin is a 10-year-old Borzoi in Peterborough, NH, who needs $2,000 for amputation of left forelimb.

In 2013 we decided to research some dogs in need of permanent homes through a rescue organization. We decided Griffin would be a good fit for our family. We ended up making a trip from New England to Pennsylvania for Griffin's "Gotcha Day". He was friendly and willing to go on this new adventure to his forever home. He now resides with my husband and I, our grown daughter, and his bestie "Lucy". Griffin's life as a senior is pretty exciting-"what new position can I find to sleep in?" He prefers a matching couch and love seat and must jump from one to the other all day for naps. My husband can't resist stopping to give them equal rubs, scratches and talk to them. In the evening, Griffin waits for me to sit in my spot so he can hop up next to me and "snuggle" his head in my lap & "purr". This was an unexpected, huge expense. My husband and I are both on SS benefits and 1 part-time income. I have permanent handicapped status after a past accident and now put much of my focus on the dogs. We humbly hope to give Griffin a chance to live out his normal lifespan. Griffin started limping a bit, and then alot. After a vet visit, we were told it looked like bone cancer. We were devastated as we'd gone through this before. Knowing that time was precious, we began reaching out to surgeons, and oncologists with the same answer "No new patients for at LEAST a month". Miraculously our vet reached out to a surgeon friend who liked Griffins odds & scheduled surgery. Griffin has a nice yard full of brave squirrels and chipmunks to chase! (When not napping, of course!) When he's done with those antics he runs in ecstatically for a treat. He loves to play with his friend Lucy and nip her neck, jump up and down and around at her like they are still puppies. Sometimes they even play tugs with one of their many fluffies. After the winner is declared it's, yep, NAP.
Bentley
Bentley is a 8-year-old Basenji in Huntsville, AL, who needs $1,222 for Surgery.

I adopted Bentley from a Basenji rescue organization in 2018, and we just passed her third gotcha day! She is 9 years old. She lives with myself, her dog dad Nick, and our other dog Phinn. Bentley keeps us on our toes and is really active. She especially loves trail runs and even learned how to jog alongside her dad on a bicycle. We live in Huntsville, Al. Bentley lives with her brother Phinn, who is a rat terrier. They are inseparable from each other and from us. Bentley spends her days lounging in any ray of sunshine she can find - usually from the table I built her so she can catch some sunshine while staring out the window. She wants you to believe she is fiercely independent, but is the first one to claim her spot snuggled up next to me in bed. The last two weeks have amounted to $2,000+ In vet bills. I am in a hard financial position due to my own current medical costs from finding out I have an incurable autoimmune condition with expensive medication. Right now I can’t imagine a life without Bentley. Thank you. Bentley started vomiting unexplainably two weeks ago. She has been to her vet almost daily and had a plethora of tests ran. Despite this, the results are inconclusive but she is still vomiting. In two weeks, she has lost 5 pounds. Our veterinarian believes surgery will be in her best interest to see what is going on inside her stomach and correct whatever is causing her to be so sick. Bentley is incredibly special because she’s so full of life. She loves to go on walks, hikes, trail runs, bike rides, and to the dog park (where she thinks she is boss!). She keeps me on my toes and life with her is anything but boring. She’s always impressing me with how smart she is, and can solve canine puzzles in her sleep!
BOOTS
BOOTS is a 15-year-old Tuxedo Cat in Fairbanks , AK, who needs $2,000 for tumor removal surgery.

This adorable little boy is Boots but he also goes by Piglet. He was born 15 years ago in a high-school pig pen in California. He has always been a shy guy and preferred indoors but up until 3 years ago he packed his bags and ventured to Alaska! Where he lives happily and comfortable here in fairbanks. Boots has two loving parents and one baby sister named pumpkin. She's a calico cat who's 13 years younger than him. Even though there's an age gap Boots always takes time to take care of his sister. They love to nap together. When family drops by for a visit he's shyness gets the better of him and hides, although he won't hide long because he loves head rubs and food. This unexpected medical bill has been hard and concerning. Covid has been hard to find a job and our income is very limited. All we want is Boots to have a chance at the longest, happiest life possible. Boots has unfortunately been diagnosed with a tumor on his intestines requiring surgery to remove it. It has created a blockage, causing constipation and forcing him to not eat due to being unable to pass his food. He has lost half his body weight. He's has gotten really skinny and walking has been a strain. The amazing staff at Chena Vet Clinic are doing everything they can to help our boy. Boots favorite activities involve sun bathing on his back, making a nest in the hallway with any peice of clothing that he can get his paws on, and being a personal alarm clock every morning at 7am on the dot, to wake up his parents by tapping or licking their faces. Also whenever a bubble is blown and floating around, Boots will stop at nothing to pop it ☺

My cat picked ME: I went to the local pound to see if there were any apartment appropriate dogs to THINK about adopting (there weren't), so on a whim I asked if I could just play with the kittens for a fuzz-buzz as I was leaving... they opened the door and this TINY little guy immediately jumped on my shoulder and started biting my hair! I submitted: Shoot, well I guess I'm getting a cat now!" Bob has been with us through 7apartments, New jobs, layoffs, health crises and disability, sometimes with roommates who had dogs (which my cat tolerated well but once cornered in the kitchen and wouldn't let her leave,) co-habitated with other cats... he was with me during my dad's coma and all the other good times and bad... he's been amazing and taken it all in stride. Just the cost of fluids and tubing ($130/mo),his new medications (133/mo), new special dry food ($28), new wet food $60) = $391/mo. I am disabled, only able to work part-time at a grocery store, and half my small income goes towards medical expenses. This is both an immediate need for funding for emerg. services rendered this week as well as help for on-going treatment he will need for the rest of his life. Bob has urinary crystals (prescription wet food) and he has an issue with periodic bowel blockages (3 medications and sometimes home enemas.) About $200/mo. Now he has kidney disease, so +3meds, Rx wet & dry food, and IV DAILY. Bob is TEACHABLE. Once we got him comfortable on a harness for outside we would tie him up. We hung some bells below the knob and he would "ring the doorbell" when he wanted to come in! He has no tail (well, a nub), and because of that he will sit up straight on his rear end (pouch expanding like a beer belly...) we call this his "jabba" pose. because he looks exactly like Jabba the Hutt!
Ash

Ashlyn or Ash is 19 months old grey/white Alaskan Klee Kai (AKK), she lives with me, her sister Cinder (red/white) and my son. She came to become part of our family when she was 8 weeks old, as did her sister who was from a different mom and dad but born 3 days apart and whelped together. They spent the next 8 weeks together bonding as litter mates would. We love our daily walks by the creek. Ash follows me and her sister everywhere. She cries, as does her sister, if each other is missing from their sight. We have all grown together. Ash sleeps in her crate at night; she waits at the gate when it is time for bed, staring at me to let her go to bed. She is still a puppy and loves the safety of her crate at night; this saves my slippers or other items from sure destruction as well. COVID! Job change; supported 2 others that were "non-essential"; separated from my significant other. Spent $2000 dollars to diagnose; I have no further credit, assets/savings. Surgery can fix it, but it is expensive, breaks my heart to know she would be ok and I can't help Ash is diagnosed with a liver shunt after having several seizures back in March. Surgery ($5000) can give her a normal life expectancy w/o surgery 10 mth-6 yrs. Meds help her enzymes and lowfat/low protein diet that she hates. She is only 7 lbs and can't lose much more weight. She won't need the either w/surgery. She is scheduled with Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Ash is a little diva and does everything on her terms or if there is a treat involved. AKK are known to do only what they want to do, when they want to do it, like Huskies. She thinks she is a 100 lb dog and brave and her howl is hilarious. Her pure joy she has when you play with her is her gift. Her tail wags so fast and she jumps (video) it brings a smile to my face every day after work.
Nigel
Nigel is a 4-year-old Rottweiler in Dewey, AZ, who needs $2,000 for TPLO.

My family got Nigel at weeks old. He has been apart of our family ever since. We have two other dogs, Herman the Rottweiler and Dax the shepherd mix. We chose Nigel for his name because he’s a goofy dog and the name was just fitting. A funny story about Nigel. He discovered what a trampoline was for at our other house. He would spend half the day outside jumping on it like a kid. Nigel has been spoiled from the day he was brought home. He has slept in the bed with us since. Nigel loves going on car rides and feeling the wind in his face. He will do anything for a treat, or any food in general. He even stole a whole burrito from me one time. He loves cuddling and playing with our other Rottweiler. Our other Rottweiler was recently in the emergency room for a rattlesnake bite on top of Nigels visits to diagnose him has maxed out our limit on spending money. It would mean the world to get Nigel out running around and playing again with our daughter and other dogs. Nigel is a 130 pound dog and was recently diagnosed with a torn CCL in his knee. The only fix is surgery to repair it. Since he’s so large, it’s an extensive and expensive surgery. The healing time will take three months along with therapy. Dr. Skinner at Prescott Animal Hospital will be doing the knee surgery on Nigel. Nigel loves his two brother dogs and will even pout if one is gone at the vet. He also has a one year sister and they’ve become very fond of each other. He lets her crawl all over him! The first time Nigel heard the Mypillow commercial he howled at it the entire time, and has done so to this day. Nigel will hoard toys from the other dogs but will share with his sister.
Happy
Happy is a five-month-old Terrier pup in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,400 for critical surgery.

Happy's brush with death was narrowly averted by a woman who saw the sweet puppy get hit by a car. She ran out, grabbed him, and raced him to a veterinarian who stitched up a giant-sized laceration on his leg. But X-rays revealed Happy also had a broken pelvis. The good Samaritan called Pooch Savers, who immediately said: Yes, we'll take this puppy into our rescue. "Happy is young and precious and was probably scared to death," Scott from Pooch Savers tells Waggle. Scott brought Happy to Mazie's Mission animal hospital, where the medical team determined Happy needed surgery. Without it, he would develop severe arthritis and live each day with constant discomfort. But with surgery, Happy's future looks much brighter; he can be a normal puppy and lead a long life. Pooch Savers specializes in helping animals with medical needs and depends on donations to help them keep their doors open and to continue their pooch saving. "We front every expense, and then we hope to be able to recoup it through the generosity of supporters," Scott says. Please help Happy get back on his feet again so he can eventually find his forever home!
