Bandit

Bandit first came to Carolina Cat Rescue from a rural county shelter. He went to a foster home and seemed like he was doing well, then after his neuter surgery, he went downhill. "After a week after his operation, his foster noticed he wasn't eating as well, he seemed depressed, he had not gained weight in several days. She was trying to syringe feed him," Karie K., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "We were very worried." The rescue got Bandit to Companion Animal Hospital right away. The medical team ran many tests and eventually determined he had failure to thrive syndrome. There's no real treatment for the syndrome, but if Bandit continued not to eat, he would die. "Kittens who do not eat are in severe danger of low blood sugar, malnutrition, dehydration, and death," Karie says. So the rescue and Bandit's foster mom launched a full-on effort to push Bandit through. "We started him on a regimen of vitamins, baby food, fancy food, expensive food, canned food, anything to get him to eat," Karie adds. "We syringe fed him, gave him high-calorie supplements and fluids. It was touch and go." His foster mom is monitoring his weight and working hard to keep him alive. The nonprofit group is now hoping generous pet lovers will help donate to pay for Bandit's veterinary bills, including his tests, medications, and vet visits.
Puppy Edith
Puppy Edith is a Black Labrador puppy in Houston, TX, who needs $1,400 for Hospitalization and Treatment of Parvo.

Puppy Edith narrowly escaped being killed in a South Texas animal shelter. The facility was full and planned to begin euthanizing dogs for space reasons. A panicked shelter worker called Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption and begged for them to save Puppy Edith and her brother Puppy Archie. The rescue could not say no! Wonderful volunteers helped drive the puppies to their amazing foster mom in Houston. Shortly after they arrived, the pups had another brush with death. "Edith and Archie arrived from the shelter seemingly fine," Stephanie B., Lucky Lab's Houston manager, tells Waggle. "But within a few hours of getting them, Edith became lethargic and was not eating." Soon after, Archie got sick too, and the group raced the puppies to the veterinarian, where they tested positive for Parvo, a horrible virus that can be fatal to dogs who are not fully vaccinated. The pups were so ill they needed round-the-clock care, fluids, and antibiotics at BluePearl Pet Hospital. "We were crushed to find out they were Parvo positive, but you could tell Edith is a fighter," Stephanie says. "Now the puppies are fighting for their lives." Lucky Lab Rescue always makes sure the dogs they save get the best medical care, and they rely on donations to help pay their veterinary bills. Having two pups admitted to the emergency room is really taking a bite out of their bottom line. They would be so grateful for any donations!
Piper
Piper is a 4-year-old Pit Bull Mix in Huntington, WV, who needs $2,000 for ACL Repair Surgery.

We have a special girl to introduce to you - her name is Piper. She was surrendered to the shelter on 3/1, and it's easy to see she was a happy-go-lucky girl with the biggest smile. However, day by day, her smile began to fade, and she spent most of her time not wanting to get off her cot. The medical director suspected pain was at the root of her personality change, and she was right. Piper was sent to Proctorville Animal Clinic for a complete orthopedic exam and it turns out she has two torn canine cruciate ligaments (think ACL) in her back legs, making any movement painful. You have witnessed miracle after miracle, and life-changing transformations in some of the animals we have helped, and we are asking you to help us give Piper the same happy outcome by donating today. Each leg will cost approximately $1,800 to repair but, once completed, Piper will have the gift of pain-free mobility. At only three years old, this is a crucial moment for her. Piper has waited two painful months, but tomorrow is her day. She will have surgery on one leg at a time, and Dr Mike Dyer is using new technology to give our shelter gal the gold standard of care and her best opportunity for success. We have been managing Piper’s pain as much as we can with medication, but there is no substitute for her surgery and we need your help.
DJ
DJ is a 5-year-old Terrier - Mix in Hermosa Beach, CA, who needs $1,769 for Cystotomy.

DJ has been my best friend and shadow since the moment he crawled into my lap at a No Kill adoption center here in Los Angeles back in 2015. We have not spent one day apart since. We travel everywhere together, go on hikes, road trips, and even the beach. He has been my source of therapy in times of hardship and has an infinite spirit of love to offer anyone who needs it. Our pack is DJ & myself but he gets plenty of love and attention. He loves staring out the window to watch people & dogs pass by throughout the day. DJ's 3 favorite toys are his spider (currently missing 4 of 8 legs because it has been overly loved), his Pizza with 2 squeakers so he can share and squeak together with his friends, & his Penguin that we always take to play with on vacations. The idea of surrendering DJ back to a shelter due to temporary financial struggles pains me deeply. Assistance getting DJ healthy again would not just mean he gets the necessary medical care, it also means me & my forever friend can continue a long & happy life together. DJ was seen by Dr. Yang, DVM at the Family Pet Clinic of Redondo Beach when he unexpectedly began urinating large amounts of blood during one of our walks. Tests revealed struvite type stones had formed in his bladder area. Two of these stones are too large for DJ to pass naturally & could lead to future blockage if not removed. This Cystotomy will remove all stones/crystals. As much as it annoys me when I'm in a rush, when you take DJ on a walk he has a way of letting you know that you are now on 'his' time. He will walk as slow or fast as he pleases in order to smell every leaf, flower, bush, and parking meter that we may pass along the way. As we pause to literally smell ALL the roses, I am reminded how important it is to live in the present.
Maggie

This unfortunately isn't Maggie's first rodeo... Maggie was a stray, found in rough shape with a abnormally large abdominal mass, rotten and broken teeth, and terrible skin. Months ago, Maggie was saved by Pooch Savers Rescue, and receive life saving surgery to remove her cancerous mass. Maggie's mass removal surgery went well, and the margins were clean, leaving her CANCER FREE!!! With that being said, Maggie still needed major dentistry to remove broken and rotten teeth. The surgeon removing her mass could not perform the dentistry at the same time, as Maggie would have been under for far too long. Pooch Savers Rescue is asking for donations to cover the cost of Maggie's extensive dentistry. With your help, Pooch Savers can continue to rescue those less fortunate! Maggie was adopted by a sweet lady who understands that it's not all about appearance. "Maggie is not much to look at, but she is just smitten with her new owner", co-founder Scott B. said. "She deserves every bit of love!" Maggie's hair and skin condition seem to be doing better now too, given that Maggie's stress levels have decreased and her nutrition is better! Maggie underwent her extensive dentistry, with 16 extractions, both double deep rooted molar type and simple extractions. Maggie had slab fractures from eating rocks, and was in such discomfort! After surgery and antibiotic treatment, Maggie is feeling MUCH better!
Peanut
Peanut is a 11-year-old Boxer in New River, AZ, who needs $800 for Neuter with Scrotal Ablation.

Our family adopted Peanut when he was eight years old, and in our time with him, we’ve grown to wish we had known him forever. There is no one he doesn’t give a chance to become his friend. He literally cannot meet enough people. He is even more in love with dogs, and even at 11, he plays with puppies - but his latest girlfriend, Lola, is 5. Peanut has the world’s healthiest appetite, and even without so much as an Apple watch, he knows exactly when lunch and dinner are supposed to be served. If I do not move as quickly as he’d like to plate his meals, he leans back his head and howls. He loves to play with our 2 year old Corgi, and yes, he can keep up with her. We’ve been hit hard with vet bills in the last year. Our Bernese/Border Collie had lymphoma; our Corgi had Valley Fever, and our cat had to have 7 teeth removed, as well as a colon procedure. Plus, we are fostering a homeless black cat because no one else would take him. Peanut just received a clean bill of health a month ago, but just this week, we found a lump on his scrotum (we adopted him at age 8 un-neutered). This has proven to be a mast cell, which if removed along with the scrotum should give a good prognosis and possible total cure. Especially since we caught it so quickly. He needs to be neutered with a scrotal ablation, and our surgeon is the best. Peanut is a very skilled tap dancer, and will perform whenever we come home, or at meal time, or just to say hello. He is the most excellent companion to our family, and we each have a bed for him in our rooms. He makes his rounds daily, and we all hope to get as much Peanut time as we possibly can.
Maddox
Maddox is a 3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier in Des Moines, IA, who needs $149 for consultation to determine options.

I got Maddox when he was 10 weeks old. He was unconscious and barely breathing, but this little guy who was only 4lbs then and is only 40lbs now, has the heart of a lion. He made it and is now almost 4 years old. Maddox is special needs. He has canine dysfunctional behavior which is the equivalent of autism in dogs. He is the sweetest most gentle boy. Everyone who knows Maddox loves him. Maddox keeps to himself for the most part. He lives with 3 other dogs but rarely interacts with them. He is not a social happy go lucky dog. But that's okay, we accepted Maddox for who he is a long time ago. Much like a human with autism Maddox is socially challenged. He doesn't like change. It scares him so we keep things simple and routine here. I lost my job last February. I am currently in the process of starting my own business making dog clothes and pet memorial jewelry. This could not have happened at a worse time. Maddox started having what appeared to be pain in his legs when he would sit down. X rays were done that revealed nothing. 3 weeks ago it got worse. I took him back to the vet and they think it is neurological. AVS in Omaha has a neurology department so Maddox will be seeing them this Tuesday. We are praying it is not neurological. Maddox will not walk on hardwood floors. He has to be on carpet or he isnt going. Maddox has ocd. He also doesn't play or wag his tail. He's a very monotone dog who likes to keep things calm and simple. We haven't rearranged the furniture since he was a puppy. He has one bowl he will eat out of but only that one bowl.
TinkerBell
Tinker Bell is a seven-year-old Chihuahua Mix in Dunnellon, FL, who needs $2,000 for double knee surgery.

Tinker Bell can't walk because she is in so much pain. When it's time to go potty Jane W., Tinker Bell's human mom, has to carry her in and out of the house. The adorable dog can't have fun with her furbaby brother and sisters, "I sometimes cry because she wants to play with them and is not able to do so," Jane tells Waggle. "Sometimes she lets out a little bark as if to say 'come play with me,' but she can only watch them." But you can help Tinker Bell walk again! The tiny pooch has a big but fixable problem: She tore her cruciate ligaments (similar to a human ACL) in both her knees and needs surgery to fix them. And Jane also has a big but fixable problem: She can't afford Tinker Bell's operation and needs to raise the money for the procedure. "I am a disabled senior citizen and only receive a small disability check each month," Jane says. "I have no human family, but I am so thankful to have my furbaby family. They are my children. It would be such a gift and miracle for Tinky to be able to walk, run, and play." Jane adopted Tinker Bell from a rescue group seven years ago, and the two have become so attached. She sleeps in bed with Jane and is always by her side. Not being able to help Tinker Bell because of financial reasons has been terrible for both Jane and Tinker Bell. "Tinker Bell can only drag herself a short distance," Jane adds. "A doggie wheelchair and medications have not helped. She needs the surgery ASAP, or she will get worse. I love my little girl so much. She is my princess." Can you help Tinker Bell get back on both feet again?
Emma
Emma is a seven-year-old Labrador in Granby, MA, who needs $1,000 for leg surgery.

It all started when Emma cried out from the backyard in pain. "She was out there trotting along, and my son heard her yelp, and her leg went up in the air," Jean M., Emma's human mom, tells Waggle. Jean hustled Emma over to her veterinarian's office immediately. They tried treating her with anti-inflammatories for a bit. When those didn't help, Jean and Emma returned to the animal hospital. "She couldn't put any weight on her leg at all," Jean says. That's when they found out she has a complete tear in the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in one of her knees. Now Emma needs pricey surgery to fix it. The medical team at Wilbraham Animal Hospital is ready to take the case, and Jean and her family are desperately trying to raise the money they need for Emma's care. Jean's husband was laid off due to COVID, and their family is just starting to get back on track financially. Emma also was extremely sick with another illness recently, she's fully recovered now, but her emergency care cost $4000. Until Emma can have the surgery, she's still limping in pain. "It's heartbreaking she just looks at you. She's just mopey. I don't know if it's depression or she knows she can't do the things she used to do," Jean says. Emma is a huge part of Jean's family. They adopted her when she was a puppy when her prior owner could not keep her any longer and posted her on Craigslist. Jean has two human sons and says Emma is her only girl. "When she entered our home, our hearts turned to mush. She was the one thing we were missing, and when she arrived, she completed our family. She is my princess. She will lick you until she can't anymore. She sleeps with mom and dad." Jean is hoping Lab lovers can help them help Emma pull through this surgery and go on to live an extraordinary life with her family that loves and adores her. "Any bit would be much appreciated, and we would be so grateful." Please help Emma get walking on all four feet again!
