Kiwi
Kiwi is an 11-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $800 for critical care.

It's a call for help that's hard for a rescue to turn down. When Scott B. from Pooch Savers went to a local shelter to pick up a dog, the staff said, "Hey, we have this other dog; maybe you can help?" And when Scott laid eyes on Kiwi, who was in the very back of the shelter, she broke his heart. "She was all alone, in a big kennel, laying in a urine-soaked dog bed with a bowl of old dog food and no water bowl in sight," he tells Waggle. Scott could tell she was in terrible shape and would likely not get adopted by someone perusing dogs at the shelter. "We had to save her. If we could help her with her health problems, we figured that would be great. If she ended up being a hospice dog, that would be OK too. We did not want her to pass away alone in a shelter." The rescue rushed over to Mazie's Mission animal hospital. It turned out Kiwi had heart issues, kidney issues, horrible teeth, and severe arthritis. But it was all treatable! Kiwi is now on special food that's easier on her kidneys. She is also taking arthritis and heart medications and will soon have her dental surgery. "She's responding quite well so far," Scott says. Kiwi's outlook is very bright thanks to a shelter employee who cared and Pooch Savers Rescue. Brave
Brave is a two-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Lawton, OK, who needs $1,000 for emergency eye surgery.

Brave is in quite a predicament. She's currently being held at the animal hospital until her family can make a payment on her bill. It all started when Brave developed a horrendous infection in one of her eyes. Devin S. brought her to the veterinarian's office and found out she needed surgery immediately to remove the eye. The problem was, he could not afford the cost, so the animal hospital agreed to do the operation so Brave would not be in pain, but they won't release the cat to her family until they can pay at least half her medical bill. So currently, Brave is in the hospital, likely wishing her pet parents can come up with the money soon so she can go home. "We miss her," Devin tells Waggle. "We're in financial crisis." Devin says his fiancee is deaf and lost her job during the pandemic because she depends on reading lips, and she could not do that while everyone was wearing masks. They also have kids to feed, but their goal is to pay Brave's tab at the vet as soon as possible. "We got Brave during a transitional time in our lives. She needed a home, and we needed her "brave attitude" in our lives," Devin says. "It was empowering for my family. Her bravery upon entering our home is how she got her name. She came to us as a lil bitty Kitty and is now the sweetest ever." The family turned to Waggle pleading for help, hoping charitable pet lovers might chip in so the family can spring Brave. Devin says their household just isn't the same without her. He wants to tell anyone who gives to their campaign a big "thank you!" "All my kids talk about is Brave and when we'll get her back. One of them was crying the other night asking about Brave," Devin says. "It would make us so happy." Can you help Devin's family bring Brave home?
Maddox
Maddox is a 3-year-old Tiny American Pit Bull Terrier in Des Moines, IA, who needs $281 for testing and diagnostics.

I got Maddox when he was 10 weeks old. He arrived unconscious and barely breathing and shaking and weighing only 4lbs at 10 weeks old when he should have been closer to 12-14lbs like his brother (see video). My experience as a vet tech proved to be invaluable that day. I gave him subcutaneous fluids and a tiny bit if sugar and warmed him up. An hour later he was holding his head up and eating. We noticed when Maddox was still pretty young that he was different from the other dogs. We now believe Maddox is autistic. He is not a social dog and his anxiety is severe. He finds comfort in his dog friends but tends to shy away from people. Maddox has had a lot of health issues and 3 surgeries. I lost my job last February and am in the process of starting my own business and money is tight right now. Maddox is not an adoptable dog and I could never rehome him but he desperately needs help. Ankeny Animal & Avian Clinic is his vet. Please help me save my baby boy. A few months ago Maddox started having trouble laying down, in his knees. X rays confirmed no issues. I took him to the vet last week and they suspect he has Degenerative Myelopathy. He needs to have several tests to rule things out before it can be confirmed. We are all praying there is another cause since Degenerative Myelopathy has no cure and will drastically shorten his life. Maddox will not step foot on a hardwood floor or other hard surface. We have placed rugs throughout the house. He has never played with a toy or even wagged his tail. He snuggles with the other dogs and me, but has no interest in anyone else. He is very withdrawn and sullen. He also has some OCD behaviors. Maddox might be different but he is very much loved and a part of the family.
Honey
Honey is a 9-year-old Pitbull Mix in Lithia Springs, GA, who needs $695 for diagnostic testing and ongoing meds management.

I adopted Honey from the Dekalb County Animal Shelter 20 minutes before she was going to be euthanized in 2014. I am disabled and needed a mobility dog so we put her to the test and she aced service dog school. She drastically improved my quality of life and now as she ages she needs my help to improve hers. She was just diagnosed with heart disease. She has definitely helped to change the stigma associated with her breed because she is a social butterfly and loves her canine brother and feline sister. Both are foncerned about her because shes not been as playful since she got sick. Now she just lays around and sleeps all day because she doesnt have the energy to play. I have incurred many medical bills since having brain surgery in July 2020 and the majority of my meds arent covered by my insurance so I am trying to keep both me and Honey alive and being on a fixed income I cant afford this much of a lump sum. Honey is being treated by Dr. Montgomery at Kay Animal Hospital in Douglasville, GA. She desperately needs radiography and bloodwork to determine the type and dosage of medication she should be on and without these tests and medication she will eventually die from congestive heart failure. With proper medication her prognosis is good. Honey is our canine comedian and we miss her practical jokes. She will do anything for a dog treat when shes well but we are having a hard time getting her to ear right now. She used to like to empty the toy box into the living room while I was in the shower and she hasnt been to the toybox in weeks.
Stevie
Stevie is a two-year-old Pitt Bull in Indian Land, SC, who needs $1,300 for hospitalization to treat seizures.

Ashlee H. and her brother were so excited! A month ago, they adopted Stevie; they named her after the performer Stevie Nicks and the dog sounds just as charismatic. "She loves children and new people. She is well-mannered and outgoing," Ashlee tells Waggle. "She is a very intuitive pup. She can feel whatever energy is in the room and comforts us whenever we are down by laying close to us or putting her head on our hearts!" Then, not even a month after Ashlee adopted Stevie, the dog started having seizures that have not responded to medication. "She continues to have frequent seizures," Ashlee says. "She is currently in the hospital at Care Animal Referral and Emergency. The doctors are monitoring her closely to figure out what we can do to get her better." Ashlee was affected financially by the pandemic, and this unexpected animal hospital bill is hitting at a tough time. All they want is for Stevie to get better so they can bring her home. "She has brought so much joy to us since she came into our lives." Can you help Stevie return to being a rock star?
King Crumble
King Crumble is a 11-year-old Beagle in Geneva, OH, who needs $843 for immediate surgery.

While North East Ohio Greyhound Rescue doesn't know exactly what happened to King Crumble before they saved him, they can tell he had a horrible life. The dog was found as a stray in South Carolina, where he ended up in a local shelter. "He was very thin, had a multitude of health issues, and was deemed unadoptable," Duane J. from the rescue tells Waggle. "Crumble was starving and full of buckshot." As soon as the group heard about Crumble, Duane says they started making arrangements to get him a ride to their sanctuary. "I said, 'He's coming here to live out his days. He needed us.'" Dr. Zulandt from Madison Vet Hospital is treating Crumble. The rescue says the poor dog has a long list of ailments: His liver is damaged, he is nearly blind, he has severe skin allergies which make him scratch constantly, and he has an undescended testicle that needs to be surgically removed, along with several rotting teeth. The good news is after Crumble gets the surgery and care he needs, he is expected to have a good quality of life in the future. "While Crumble's past abuse and neglect is apparent from his physical condition, you'd never know it from his behavior," Duane says. "He loves to be held and cuddled. Now that his hind end is getting stronger, he jumps up and down when it's time to eat. He takes his medications like a champ, and he's so good when the vet is examining him. Crumble is a survivor, and he surprises us with his improvement. He deserves the best of whatever time he has left." The nonprofit group says Crumble absolutely loves his little bed, and they think it may be the first time that he's ever had one. Despite all this little dog has endured, Crumble has such a positive outlook and is so happy. His tail wags constantly, and he plays with his toys and another dog, his friend, Daisy Mae. He's such an inspiration. The rescue's donations have taken a hit during the pandemic. They are hoping to raise enough money to treat all of Crumble's ailments. "I can't say it enough, I'm so thankful to all the people who make donations," Duane adds. "It all goes to the animals' welfare."
Benito
Benito is a one-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Vacaville, CA, who needs $600 for the treatment of ulcers.

Though Lisa H. and her husband have moved around during their three years of marriage as a military family, one thing has always remained the same: Their love for their constant companion and family member, Benito. "He has been with us from place to place," Lisa H. Benito's human mom tells Waggle. "Our Benito is like a child to us." The couple just got transferred to California and received horrible news; Benito developed ulcers in his digestive system. "He always runs in the kitchen when it is dinner time. Lately, he has not been able to eat due to some very painful ulcers. It has been so devastating to us to see him suffer this way," Lisa says. The veterinary team at Pawsh Place Veterinary Center and Boutique told Lisa the best course of action is to place a temporary feeding tube into Benito to take the stress off his digestive system and allow the ulcers heal-- after that happens, his prognosis is good! But Benito's medical bill is something the young couple serving their country can't afford. They need help paying for their adopted cat's medical bill. "This has been totally out of the blue expense for us," Lisa adds. "We are brand new to the area and do not have many friends. COVID-19 has made it very tough to socialize, and he has been truly our constant companion. No words can express how much we appreciate any help you can lend!"
Coco
Coco is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for dental surgery and tests.

When Little Paws Dachshund Rescue heard about two senior dogs, Coco and Maxi, who were dumped at a shelter it broke their hearts. "Both are in horrible condition, believed to have been living outside as they were filthy," Julie J. with the rescue tells Waggle. The group wasted no time and launched a mission to save the bonded pair. First, they found a foster home where the dogs could stay together. Then the rescue discovered that both Coco and Maxi need veterinarian care immediately. Coco is scheduled for blood work and dental surgery at Paws and Claws Animal Clinic. Though Coco and Maxi have health issues, they are so excited to be out of the animal shelter and together. "Coco is very dependent on his partner and loves to snuggle beside him," Julie says. "After only one day in his foster home, Coco is adjusting and even wagging his tail. He is happy to be in a safe, loving foster home." Little Paws Dachshund Rescue is a nonprofit group that helps provide medical care for all the dogs the group saves. They rely solely on donations and hope Waggle's generous community of pet lovers will help this senior pair so they can be adopted together and live happily ever after.
Maxi
Maxi is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for urgent medical care.

Poor Maxi was scared to death! This senior dog, who is nearly blind, got dumped at an animal shelter with another Dachshund named Coco. When Little Paws Dachshund Rescue heard about this bonded pair in need, they said: Let's get them out right away and keep the two together! They found a wonderful foster home for Maxi and Coco but soon discovered the dogs were filthy and needed medical care immediately. The rescue is taking the dogs to Paws and Claws Animal Clinic. "We believe this senior (Maxi) has cataracts and is at least partially blind. He will need lab work, dental care and has to be neutered," Julie J. with the rescue tells Waggle. While the rescue works to fix them up, they will stay in their foster home as an inseparable pair. "They are happy to have a safe place to rest and snuggle," Julie says. Little Paws Dachshund Rescue depends on donations to help pay for challenging medical cases. Can you help Maxi, so he lives a new life where his best years are yet to come?
