I followed my fiancé from Salt Lake City, Utah to Kansas City in August of 2017- We didn't have any family there, and decided that we needed to add some life to our empty nest. I feel like we rescued our puppy when we met her in less than acceptable conditions. The family that was sold her was very nice, but not equipped to take care of the "accidental" litter their two Rottweilers had. My boyfriend wanted a male, but the pick of the litter was already taken- He wanted to leave, but I asked to look at the other litter mates, that's when he noticed our soon to be fur baby running around her siblings like a Boss. We didn't take her home that night, my boyfriend said if she was still there in a week we could get her (that was the longest week ever) Long story kind of short, a week later- we took her home! I named her KONA BELLA- I love Hawaii, KONA is one of my favorite places on the Big Island, she was such a beautiful dog- Bella was perfect for her middle name. I'd grown up with dogs as a child, Schnauzers and Golden Retrievers- this was my first Rottweiler. I can honestly say, I will never own another breed. From day one Kona has had a boss like attitude, she is smart and knows what she wants. She has turned me into a true Fur Mom- puppy kisses from head to toe, fur on my clothes, baby dog talk, poop pick up daily- and yes dog dress up! I cannot imagine my life without her.
Ally
Ally is a 9-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Swarthmore, PA, who needs $455 for dental extraction surgery.

I adopted Ally 3 years ago when she was 6 years old. When I brought her home, she weighed less than half of her healthy adult weight due to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and severe food sensitivities. She was covered in scabs, her fur was coming out in chunks, her ears were infected, 50% of her teeth needed to be removed, she was passing blood, and she was incontinent. I loved her anyways. After 12 months of lots of hard work, puppy training pads, vet visits, medications, experimentation, dental procedures, fundraisers, prescription foods, and dedication, the vets and I were able to get Ally's health under control and give her the life she deserves. Now, I manage her health with one pill a day, a prescription diet, biweekly ear cleanings, and regular vet visits.

Bear is a 4 month old baby Pitbull bullmastiff mix who is stole the heart of everybody I got him at 2 months old and at 3 months was diagnosed with a heart defect his heart defect is called tricuspid valve dysplasia and at this time there is no surgery for that so it's all medication and belly draining he has to have his abdomen drained every so often

This little runt was trying to be sold for a large price even though she has a huge hole in her abdomen. Yes she was born with a large abdominal hernia. The breeder said her vet stitched her up and then told me she got the puppies and put them with a whelped. Clearly this breeder is not in it for the love of the breed. I researched and consulted with some professionals and carefully presented the information to the breeder but told her I would only take her and give her a small rehoming fee. Because I was able to give her information she did decided to let me rescue this little one. This girl already has 2 strikes against her. 1. She is the runt and 1/2 the size of her siblings. 2. She has a large abdominal hernia that absolutely needs attention. I too am broken as she is, I have PTSD and thankfully it is a mild case but none the less I require a service dog. I lost my service dog back in July suddenly. Suspecting that she had a mass on her spleen but the clinic I took her to just wanted to do testing and testing and didnt listen to what I was telling them, To the point that I was told my 10yr old needed to loose weight, but I had told this DVM she lost 7 lbs in the last 3 months. And 2 days later she suddenly left me. Smidge is what I named this little runt of a girl and she is steeling my heart so fast. She is smart and willing to learn, she is attaching and looking to me for everything so far however, she has the need to pee every 5 seconds, well seems like that. I am hoping that there will not be any bladder issues on top of the hernia.

Socks was a neighborhood stray that continued to come to my house about six years ago to get food off my front porch since I had two other cats at the time. He was friendly and my other cats did not seem to mind him which was odd. Most cats would tussle and fight with mine, but he never did. I decided since he was spending so much time at the house and had not been neutered and was obviously a stray, I would take him to be neutered. I thought it would be the situation where I would get him neutered, bring him back to the neighborhood and release him back (TNR) and we would just continue the relationship that we currently had. Well, that was not the case. He had a minor complication with the neuter which required me to keep him in the house for a few more days than normal. He got very comfortable in the house and at that point I decided that he was not going anywhere and became a permanent part of the family along with Buddy, Simon and Jack at that time. I named him Socks because he has four perfect white socks on his paws and is a very handsome tuxedo cat.

Five years ago I found an ad for chocolate and black lab puppies. Went to see them with the intentions of only getting one. Ended up leaving with 2 lab puppies. One black and one chocolate. Shortly after getting them his sister(Delilah) had hip issues and had to have hip surgery at the age of 8 months. Buddy and his sister Delilah are always together. Buddy also lives with several cats as well. Buddy enjoys going swimming at the local pools after Labor Day. He enjoys laying on the sofa with me and his sister. Up until him getting sick he had several favorite stuffed toy monkeys that he enjoyed playing with. He also loves the grandchild that lives with me.

Cody is a 5-year-old Lab mix in North Wilkesboro, NC, who needs $184 for surgery to remove a growth on his eye.

Cody is my angel dog. I left an abusive marriage and Cody’s been my rock. And very best friend. He deserves the best and I do everything in my power to give him the best. I rescued him from a shelter after he’d been found roaming the streets. I saw his photo online and fell in love with him before I picked him up. He was 3 months old at the time and and is now 5-1/2. He sleeps next to me each night and greets me with his kisses and wiggle butt each morning. I tell him he has a helicopter tail because of how it whirs in circles because he’s so happy. He’s always with me and is like an extension of my body. He fills my heart with unspeakable joy. I’m so proud of him that I share photos of him on a facebook page I created with his nickname. It can be found under Cuddable Cody the lab-shepherd mix. He is very loved by me and over the years his 3k followers have come to see his life in pictures and love him also.

I took in Embers very pregnant mom and she delivered 5 kittens, all have been adopted out to loving families. Ember is the only one left from the litter and she has been diagnosed with inflammatory nasal polyps, they did not get it all the first time and it has regrown. It is restricting her breathing
Reagle

We rescued Reagle from Beagles R Us this past Summer after losing one of our dogs 6 months prior to Evan's Syndrome. Our other dog was so sad without a friend. Reagle is also my 8-year-old daughter's best friend. Within 4 months of having Reagle, we were at the vet due to him limping more and more every week and were told he would need a surgery that could cost over $800k. We just don't have that. I have located a program with Deer Park Animal Hospital PADS in Virginia who after reviewing Reagle's vet medical notes have approved us for surgery and will do both the MPL and SACL surgeries needed for only $1200. It is almost 10 hours away but worth it if we can get Reagle out of pain. It has already been a few months. We give him pain pills every 12 hours each day while we look for ways to afford his surgery.
