Spook

Spook came home with us and his littermate and sister, Violet 3 years ago this month. He was the fattest kitten from his litter and she was the smallest. He's always loved to play and cuddle. He's not the cleverest cat, but he's definitely the sweetest- unless you're singing. He really doesn't like singing.

We got Tucker as a puppy, our small family of 3 at the time picked him out unanimously together. When we brought him home our daughter was over the moon and also confused because Tucker had gown so much since she last saw him as a baby. He has been a very good companion, a hunter, and the watchdog of our family for 9 years now. We have 3 kids all who love him very much. This summer they started agility' training him after seeing it on tv and visiting with a aunt who does that with her dogs. It took Tucker about 10 days and he really had made some huge progress weaving in and around poles & jumping small hurdles - our daughter was so proud of herself and the training progress she had made with him as we were of her! A few weeks ago Tucker became extremely sick, we took him to the vet right away, they started him on fluids he was dehydrated from vomiting - they suspected a blockage but were not sure, they did an xray with special beads to locate and scheduled him for surgery the next day - we brought him home that night and within 2 hours he was throwing up - we knew if we waited till morning he would be gone. We took him to the ER Vet where they found and removed a blockage...it was definitely a corn cob. He stayed there for 3 days - when we got him home we gave him his meds and within a few hours noticed he was lethargic - the vet told us he to give it till morning as he had been through so much he is probably really exhausted and need to rest- in the morning we were horrified to see our dog looking like a total zombie! the third eye lid was completely covering his eyes and he couldn't see - that the kids were terrified of him. We spent the rest of that week treating him for a severe sepsis like infection. In and out of the vet daily for fluids with a blind dog that was not eating, going to the bathroom and was being carried to move -.....nightmare....to say the least. When we picked him up that Friday evening we didn't know if we would be bringing him home - we made arrangements with a family member to stay with the kids and went to meet the vet to make the discussion no pet owner wants to make. We pulled every treatment out of the book that evening - our vet called it a 'hail mary' we had put so much effort in healing him that we agreed to give it till morning and brought him home. When we woke up Saturday morning it was like Christmas - Tucker was sitting up, his eyes were half visible and he was wagging his tail - He drank a little water, got up to go outside and went about his doggy business. TEARS of JOY! We of course were doing great till the vet bills showed up. We both work full time, we have taken side jobs to help cover the unexpected bills.

I have cerebral palsy and the process for receiving an assistances dog was long and took many years and patients to go through the application process and be approved for financial assistance to get my dog. But it was all worth it when I met Hyak. We have had a bond from day one and have been family for 6 years now, She was 2 when I met her for the first time and I knew right away we would spend many happy years together. She had been through months of training before we met and I traveled to Anacortes, Washington to Summit Assistance Dogs to train with her before she was able to come home with me to her forever home. She helps me with my day to day tasks such as taking off my socks, picking up things I've dropped and closing the door behind us. She is always by my side and goes everywhere with me from shopping trips to Doc. appointments and volunteering at Intendant living services center.

I got Pumpkin after I had to put both my elderly cat, Sniggy Pig, and my dog, Angus, to sleep. Angus had degenerative myelopathy and could no longer walk at all, even with his wheelchair. I've loved Pumpkin from day one and he has helped my heart heal from the loss of my other pets. About 6 months later my cat Gizmo was mauled to death by my old neighbors two dogs. Pumpkin sleeps with me every night and follows me around the house. He comes to me every time I call his name! He might be part dog? He loves to lie in the window sill and watch the birds. I don't let him go outside after what happened to poor Gizmo. After Gizmo, someone gave us a chocolate lab who we named Delilah. Pumpkin and Delilah get along well and play together every day. My son, who's deaf and has a pending diagnosis of autism, absolutely fell head over heels with Pumpkin! He loves him so so much! We sometimes call him different names, like Pumpy, Pumpykins, Lil Pump, Pumpis, Plumpy Pump, and, of course, Pumpkin.

This has been my cat since I was 5 years old. My fur baby has been with me for all 13 years of her life. Her mom lived with my aunt, but the housing wasnt very safe for her. We took her in and kept her safe. We had another cat at the time, who took her under her wing and bonded. My other kitty passed away from cancer, and I'm hoping with the cryogenic treatment we can save Kitten from the same fate.

One month after my twenty-second birthday, I was browsing Craigslist when I came across Jezabelle: a one-and-a-half-year-old tabby cat. Her story -- which was posted on the website -- detailed that she had been shoved into a box and thrown out of a moving vehicle to be abandoned at a veterinary clinic on the outskirts of Austin, Texas. Upon discovering her, I instantly fell in love. However, upon visiting her in the shelter, it was apparent that she was severely traumatized by the abuse she'd previously suffered. Despite that, there was a spark, and I decided to adopt her anyway. It took a lot of work to gain her trust, but eventually, she warmed up to me -- coming to me for pets, scritches, and snuggles. Jezabelle is the first cat I've ever owned, and though she has behavioral issues related to the past trauma she suffered, she is the sweetest little cat (at least, to me and my roommates.) She's helped me through a lot of rough times, including my severe lifelong chronic illness diagnosis in 2014, and has been my rock and foundation for life since then.

I adopted Mayble from an Aussie rescue. She had been abused and had listed as having behavioral issues. Several people passed on her adoption before me, but when we met, she immediately befriended me and even sat on my lap, giving me her ball, which normally she would just growl, bark and pace around a stranger. She's been the greatest gift. She is smart, sweet, and with a couple years of love, and taking everywhere, meeting everyone, she has become well behaved (mostly).

I have had Felix since he was 6 weeks old. He was abandoned and I nursed him back to health. He has been my best friend for 10 years now. He also is very attached to his furry brother Midnight who is 4 years old. Felix is his mentor because he is older and wiser. Felix loves to talk and will carry on meow conversations for hours. Felix loves to play fetch with my son who is very attached to him. He is the light of our family. He is my furry child and we love him so much!

Luna was rescued by our local animal control officer’s when they received a call to check on a dog that was tied up at the back of a house. She was on such a short tie-out that she couldn’t move around very much and didn’t have any food or water. She was very emaciated and lethargic, but her tail nub never stopped wagging. The ACO and technicians decided to keep her at Bar N Veterinary Clinic so we could slow feed her back to a normal weight and keep a close eye on her progress. I was out of town when Luna came into the kennel so when I came back to work, our eyes locked and I fell immediately in love, especially after I heard what a terrible situation she came from. Her personality never faulted, she continued to give love and nubbin wags to let me know how much she appreciated being in a place with so much love, attention and food. I knew only after a few minutes of spending time with Luna that she would be coming home with me and my son, Bowdi. We would now and always be her furrever humans and home.
