Help Stella Heal from a Severe Head Injury

Stella was found alone, injured, and in pain. Her head was badly wounded, the area around her ear raw and inflamed. The wound looked like a burn or abrasion, though the exact cause is unknown. What is clear is that she had been suffering for some time before someone found her and got her the help she needed. ACF Animal Rescue stepped in immediately to begin medical care and ensure she wouldn’t endure another day in pain. Upon intake, Stella was underweight and clearly uncomfortable. Her injury required prompt attention, including daily cleaning, antibiotic therapy, and pain management. The wound was deep and dangerously close to her ear canal, raising concerns about long-term tissue damage. She is currently undergoing regular wound therapy and is being closely monitored to ensure proper healing. Stella has handled her treatment with patience and resilience. Though she remains quiet and cautious, she allows wound care and seeks out gentle human contact during her recovery. Her appetite is improving, she’s gaining strength, and her condition is slowly stabilizing. With continued care, she has a strong chance of full recovery. ACF Animal Rescue is committed to providing Stella with everything she needs to heal, but ongoing treatment comes at a cost. Donations will directly support her medical care, medications, and supportive recovery. With your help, Stella can continue on the path to healing and finally leave this painful chapter behind.

Born as part of a litter to a mother who had been abused and dumped in the mountains, Snowball is safe in NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue's care. She seems happily oblivious to the fact that she’s deaf. As she grew, they realized that she was 6-8 months behind in meeting her developmental milestones, along with having chronic urinary tract and kidney issues her entire life that are now managed with medications. Now approaching her senior years, Snowball has developed a chronic allergy in her left ear that has not been responsive to the normal medications. This will require further tests and treatments to subdue the allergy and provide relief from the itching and irritation. Sprouting her full fuzzy Podenco coat and mane, typical of the Podenco Campanero breed, Snowball has learned to navigate her soundless world and understands hand signs from her caretakers. She's extremely affectionate at the Sanctuary but very shy in public. She loves to sleep next to her caretaker and soak up all the love that surrounds her. Boomer is a senior whippet mix who suddenly developed a growth on his face. They needed to do a needle aspiration to determine if the growth was malignant or benign. He is friends with all the other hounds and has been at the sanctuary for a few years now. NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue relies heavily on donations from generous animal lovers like you to help them pay for the vet bills of the animals in their care. Snowball had a rough start and Boomer is not doing well going into his senior years, but this rescue is doing everything they can to ensure a great life for both of them. My pet’s name is Momo. He lives with my family, I already moved out. He’s a mix breed, the mother cat is a snowshoe Siamese. He’s around 3 years old and is a sweet boy. I’m looking to seek help when he has a serious open wound near the ear. It appears red, raw, and possibly infected. He’s not neutered yet which makes it harder form him to stay inside since he pees everywhere to mark his territory. He cries since he wants to be outside. My family can’t deal with it so they just let him out which could cause more harm to him and his wound. Momo is a special cat. He’s really sweet and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He became an outside cat when I moved out from home since he started not using his litter box and pees everywhere. He likes to cuddle and loves pets whenever he’s around his people. He’s just a sweet boy cat that tries to be tough. I need to get him neutered so he doesn’t get territorial and aggressive. I took him to the doctor and they gave him antibiotics as well as medicine for his pain. His wound keeps reopening and will probably need another set of shots.

Flash was found all alone on the side of the road—tiny, scared, suffering, and with a severely ruptured eye. By the next morning, his eye had completely fallen out of the socket! 💔 He was rushed to two emergency vets and is now under the care of a regular veterinarian. On top of his eye injury, Flash is battling a severe upper respiratory infection and is on a heavy round of medications. He’s slowly recovering in a loving foster home where he’s finally warm, safe, and receiving the care he so desperately needs. When we went to the shelter to look for a dog, it was originally for my boyfriend. I didn’t want a dog at the time however, as soon as we got Anna in a room, she made a beeline straight to my face to cover me in licks, and I said that I was not leaving without this dog. It was at first sight for all of us. Almost 8 years later we rescued her brother Beef from the same shelter. Anna has had TPLO surgery done on both of her hind legs because she had a torn ACL in both knees and awhile after that, I found an odd bump which turned out to be a mast cell tumor. Liberty Animal Hospital told us they will need to remove and biopsy the tumor to know what stage she is at. We need to get the tumor out ASAP to prevent it from spreading to other organs if it hasn’t already. Despite being a pit bull and having the stigma that comes along with that, Anna has been the brightest light in everyone’s life, she loves everyone unconditionally and you end up loving her just as much when you meet her. Anna‘s favorite thing is licking people and cuddling with her humans. She has also been on the news to encourage voters to end breed restriction in Aurora Colorado. Anna has had a lot of medical expenses and we said we wouldn’t get another dog until after we got her looked at which we did and then I found the mast cell tumor. Every time I bring Anna into the vet she gets diagnosed with something new and we are tapped out at this point.

Mazie is from a litter of six kittens, five orange tabby’s, and her a calico. Also the runt. She was born in clearfield, which is where I was couch surfing at the time, now we live in my apartment in downtown Salt Lake City. On May 25th, my 11-month-old cat accidentally swallowed a piece of plastic, and it is still lodged in her throat. I took her to MedVet, and they confirmed that she needs immediate medical attention but the cost of everything is $1,086.02 an amount I unfortunately cannot afford right now. She’s in visible discomfort, and it’s been so painful watching her suffer while I feel helpless. Mazie is the first cat that I’ve heard with a soft meow. It’s more of a purr. She loves to play with her whip toy, and toss around her balls. Her favorite thing to do is chase the birds.Every morning she wakes me up to open the blinds so she can run along the window seal and see the birds. I’ve applied to multiple financial assistance programs and care credit services, but I was not approved. I’m doing everything I can to raise the funds. I’m working part time as a housekeeper, but it’s rent.

Twelve years ago, we walked into a pet store in Virginia and met a 10-week-old puppy with warm eyes and a gentle spirit. That was the day Boomer chose us. Since then, he has been so much more than just a pet—he’s been a cherished member of our family, a constant companion, and a source of comfort through life’s toughest moments. Boomer has grown up alongside my three children, but he shares a uniquely deep bond with my oldest son, who struggles daily with anxiety. For my son, Boomer is more than a dog—he’s his anchor. Boomer sleeps curled next to him every night, goes on walks that are often the only time my son ventures outside, and plays ball with him just to see him smile. His presence is calming, therapeutic, and essential to my son’s emotional well-being. When Boomer turned one, we added Lucky to our family. Boomer, with his patient heart, embraced the role of big brother—even though Lucky’s constant need for attention sometimes interrupts Boomer’s favorite pastime: soaking in the sun. Their bond, like everything else about Boomer, is rooted in unconditional love. A month ago, we brought Boomer in for a routine visit to Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Sterling, Virginia. What should’ve been a quick checkup turned into our worst fear. The vet discovered a small tumor near his anal gland. A biopsy revealed it was cancer. We were devastated. The good news: It hasn’t spread. But Boomer needs surgery to remove the tumor before it becomes worse. I’ve already covered the cost of diagnostics, but now we’re at a crossroads. I’m currently going through a divorce, and unfortunately, my soon-to-be ex doesn’t believe in spending money on surgery for a dog—even one who means everything to our children. Financially, I cannot do this on my own. But emotionally, we cannot afford to lose Boomer. Boomer has given us 12 incredible years of loyalty, love, and healing. He has been a light for my son in his darkest moments. We are asking for help—not just to save our dog, but to save the lifeline my son so desperately relies on. As the contracted operator for our city’s pound, we provide a critical safety net for abandoned, stray, and feral cats. Right now, our shelter is overwhelmed—70+ orphaned kittens are in our care, and the number climbs daily. But we’re not just sheltering—we’re solving. 💡 Our Mission: TNR & Beyond Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program is making a real impact. We take in feral cats from the city, provide full veterinary care, and release them safely back onto our property. Over time, many of these once-wild cats warm up to humans and find forever homes—or become happy, healthy barn cats. We’ve expanded our efforts to offer low-cost—and now with your help, FREE—spay/neuter services to the public. This is a lifeline for underserved community members and a long-term solution to the overpopulation crisis. But there’s a problem… 🚨 We’re Sinking Our resources are stretched to the breaking point. And just as we were making headway, our local city council paused cat pickups by animal control, cutting off a major intake stream. That means fewer cats are being altered and released, reversing our progress. We are doing everything we can—but we can’t do it alone.
