Mantis
Mantis is a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd (Tervuren) in Belair, MD, who needs $2,000 for Ongoing Medical Care for Recovery, Spay, Dental.

Mantis is an incredibly sweet girl. She is high food, medium prey, high ball drive. I would describe her as still a green dog as she’s young and has much to learn yet learns incredibly quick. Mantis thought she was heading out to her forever home. In turn- she was beaten half to death. On March 17th at 5:30 AM a phone call was made to pick up Mantis ASAP. The people who sought out to adopt Mantis left her with a roommate while they went away. The roommate in turn- brutally attacked Mantis over and over again with a machete!!! Mantis is NOT an aggressive dog. Mantis absolutely loves her ball, her best friend soba another Belgian whom she lives with, she is a bright and sweet dog that absolutely loves to play and enjoy life, but also just be with her family and have cuddle time We’re asking for donations, because even though we can do our best to provide for mantis‘s medical care needs are extremely extensive at this point and we’re doing the best we can however are desperate for the help of others to make sure that mantis makes a full recovery

Help Tobias: A Young Kitten Who Urgently Needed Amputation

Little Tobias is just a 2-month-old kitten who has had a heartbreaking start to life. As a stray, he was left to fend for himself, resulting in a tragic injury that left him unable to properly use his front paw. His finders suspected a break in multiple places, as his leg had no integrity and was completely limp, unnaturally bending when he hesitantly put pressure on it. Tobias was fortunately taken into Saving Hope Rescue, making it possible for him to receive the care he needed. He had a thorough examination done by their vet, who found that Tobias’ leg was shockingly not broken. Instead, they found significant spacing between his joints and severe nerve damage. This was most likely caused by him hiding in a car engine for warmth, then being burned when the car was started. Given the diagnosis, amputation was likely in his future. Tobias was sent home to a loving foster home on crate rest in hopes that his leg would “wake up” and he would not need amputation. While waiting for his upcoming surgery, Tobias’ foster went to wake him up one morning to find he had chewed through his cone and had begun to gnaw off his paw. They quickly rushed him to the vet for an emergency amputation. His surgery could no longer wait. Tobias’s surgery was successful, and hopefully, the worst is behind him. He will still need a few follow-up appointments to ensure he is receiving all the support he needs to properly regain his health. Please consider donating today to help this young kitten.

A Future Free from Pain: Help David Overcome His Injuries

D&A Animal Rescue was devastated to learn that this adorable boy was nearly ripped to shreds following a vicious attack from other dogs. Left trembling under a picnic table, he trembled with every heaving breath, his eyes doused in fear and pain. The incident left him in severe distress, with deep gashes across his stomach and blood pouring from his wounds. D&A raced David to an emergency vet hospital to get him the help he desperately needed. He underwent X-rays that revealed just how severe his injuries were, and the vets administered crucial fluids and provided ample pain relief. He was also battling a flea infestation and was treated promptly for it. These initial treatments cost us a staggering $1,500, but this was just the beginning. Upon careful examination, the veterinarian recommended transferring David to a specialist for exploratory surgery. D&A was warned that further complications could also happen, the additional burden looming overhead. The cost of this next surgery is estimated to be between $3,000 and $4,000. D&A is determined to stand by David’s side every step of the way and help him fight this ongoing battle, but they desperately need your help to do so. David is such a kind soul that deserves nothing more than to cozy up in a loving home, forever free from pain and suffering. Update 2/9/25: David is overall doing well! His spirits are high, and his sweet, spunky personality is shining through more than ever. He’s a bundle of joy, always happy and eager to play. It’s heartwarming to see him so full of life after all he’s been through. However, we’ve received some difficult news. David has tested positive for heartworm, which means he will need some serious medical care to get him back to full health. While this is a setback, we’re hopeful that with the right treatment, he can overcome it and continue his journey to a healthy, happy life. Update 2/22/25: While David’s doing well overall, next week marks the beginning of his heartworm treatment. Unfortunately, this treatment is a tough one. It involves painful injections and will require David to limit his activity for several months while he recovers. We know how strong and resilient he is, but this process will be challenging, and we want to ensure he has all the support he needs.

Hi my name is Nala, my mom rescued me a few years ago. I need your help. I have a tumor that the vet said needs removed. Mom has attached the picture. The vet wants to do lab work and X-rays to see how bad this might be. Due to being recused we don’t really know my age but guessing 7-9. We don’t know much about my past but they say I was used for having a lot of puppies. I am spayed. I am spayed and my new vet is Ark animal in hedgesville WV. When I was at the shelter they did a surgery due to a tumor but mom doesn’t know much more about it. I am lazy inside girl who mom lets me sleep on the sofa. I’m told I was kept in a crate in my previous situation. I love kids but I prefer to be the only fur baby in house. I’m super friendly. As the owner of this beautiful girl I’m also having a financial problem for her vet bills. I also have my daughter with cancer who has moved back in temporarily along with my granddaughter. She had been abandoned, left to suffer alone, with no one to comfort her in what could have been her final moments. But Wally G was a fighter. Thanks to a kind soul who refused to look away, she was rushed to safety and placed in the loving hands of Saving Hope Rescue. Their team took one look at her fragile state and knew she had a long road ahead—but they also knew they would do everything possible to give her the life she deserved. Now, Wally G is warm, safe, and finally receiving the medical care she desperately needed. Her infections are being treated, and for the first time in what may have been weeks, she is experiencing love and comfort. Buddy's Battle: Give Him the Second Chance He Deserves

When ThisIsHouston found him, this tiny puppy—barely four or five months old—was clinging to life by the thinnest thread. He was skeletal, his body stripped of any hint of muscle or fat. Every bone was a testament to unimaginable cruelty, every breath a struggle to survive. But despite the odds, Buddy was still fighting—*clinging* to his second chance. From the moment they laid eyes on this precious boy, the rescuers at ThisIsHouston knew they had to fight. While his breathing was faint and there was no energy left in his tiny frame, his eyes seemed to beg for a kindness he’d never truly known. Right now, Buddy's condition is touch-and-go and he is being monitored around the clock. His blood sugar remains dangerously low and he remains on IV support, as well as getting fed carefully every three hours to avoid refeeding syndrome—a deadly risk for those starved to this extreme. And it’s exactly why the team is working so slowly and meticulously—making sure he gets exactly what he needs without putting him in more danger. One will NEVER understand why anyone could turn their backs' on this poor boy, or why hunger gripped him so mercilessly. Yet now, for the first time, Buddy is FINALLY in loving hands. Now, he has people who believe in his resilience, his spirit, and his will to live. Despite everything he’s been through, Buddy is a fighter. Update 12/12/24: When we first got to him, poor Buddy was so skinny and frail that you could see each bone in his body. Poor guy had been deteriorating away for months because he just kept getting ignored. He was also anemic and needed a blood transfusion, but after several days of hospitalization, he’s on the right track! He recently underwent a vet check up and things are looking up: bloodwork, weight, everything’s headed in the right direction. He promptly fell asleep after entertaining the whole lobby on our way out, and naturally, everyone loved him! We discovered he howls like a beagle when he gets excited—it's such a joy watching him figure out who he is and what he loves! Juliet’s Fight for Her Life—And Her Kittens’

Juliet was once a stray cat struggling to survive in rural Kentucky. She had no caretaker, no shelter, and no food —just the growing weight of her unborn kittens inside her. She was extremely hungry, her fragile body searching for anything to eat. Desperate and exhausted, Juliet went into labor, doing everything she could to bring her babies into the world. Thankfully, this is when her rescuers stepped in. They rushed her to an emergency vet. By this time, Juliet had given birth to three tiny kittens, but something was wrong. Two more were still inside her, and no matter how hard she tried, they wouldn't come. They were too large. She was too weak. Without an urgent C-section, Juliet and her remaining kittens wouldn’t make it. Thanks to the incredible efforts of her rescuers and the veterinary team, the surgery was a success. Juliet made it through, and so did her kittens. For maybe the first time in her life, Juliet is finally safe and loved. Sadly, one of her babies was born with a severe cleft palate. Despite all efforts to help him thrive, this tiny kitten did not make it. The other four are doing well, constantly being loved on and hugged by mom. Opal’s story begins in heartbreak. At just 8 months old, this sweet kitten was found alone as a stray, presumed to have been hit by a car. The trauma left her with two broken femurs and a fractured pelvis, leaving her unable to move or seek help. A local shelter took her in, but was unable to provide the intensive veterinary care she desperately needed. For days, she sat at the shelter, waiting for someone to notice her, waiting for a chance, but no one came. Opal’s future seemed uncertain, until Animalluvr’s Dream Rescue stepped in. They believed that with the right care, she could heal and thrive, and they wanted to give her the second chance she deserved. Opal was rushed into the care of the rescue, and immediately taken to the vet; a skilled surgeon was brought in to repair her injuries. It was determined that her injuries weren’t recent – meaning that Opal had been living in pain for much longer than anyone realized. But here’s the good news: Opal is a fighter. The surgery was successful, and despite everything she’s been through, her prognosis is hopeful. With the right care, proper rest, and all the love she can handle, Opal is on her way to recovery. Kane came into our lives as a six-week-old puppy. on March 5th we recently celebrated his 12th birthday! From the start, he has been the most loving and loyal companion—our kids’ best friend, a protective and playful soul, and a bright light in our family. Kane has lived a vibrant, healthy, happy life, but at his recent yearly checkup, X-rays revealed a tumor on his spleen. Without immediate surgery, he is at risk of rupture, which will be fatal.
