Spooky is a 20-year-old lady who we (my partner and I) first met at an adoption agency that was set up in a mall. She was already old when we met, she was 8! The people there told us that all she did was sleep and didn't want to be around people, but as soon as she met my partner she was trying to crawl into his arms. It was the thing ever. Now, she lives with us and two other kitties. She's the queen in the house. She herds the boys around and makes sure they eat before she does even tho they're not kittens anymore, she met them when they were both teeny. Tho she doesn't put up with any of their antics. She can usually be found on her favorite blanket, napping, or sitting on the couch with me. She's my partner's baby and my bestie. I love her so much. OH my gosh, there are times when she will come to lay on you, especially if you're laying down, and put her whole weight on your tummy. You can feel the heat from her tum on yours. It's delightful. She's also the best person knower. She's how I judge people when she meets them for the first time. She's never been wrong on a person's vibe. okay, so I had to take her to the emergency vets because she was suddenly walking around and couldn't keep her balance. Her eyes were also going back and forth rapidly. I was able to get her some meds for a few days, but she still needs diagnostic tests like bloodwork and blood pressure tests. She may also need more medication depending on what is found out. I know I don't have long with her, but I do want her to have the best care in her old age. I am a library worker and we don't get paid much and I've already basically maxed out the care credit account for her and another cat we have that had to have extensive dental work.

Orangie gets along well with other cats, but recently a fight broke out, and Orangie was injured in the eye. He lives with 2 dogs and 3cats. Orangie is 16 years old. He has warmed our hearts since taking him in. He's a really good boy. We are on SSDI and don't have funds to get him in to the vet at this time. Please find it in your heart to help Orangie. Thank you. Orangie W. is 16 years old. He is one of the most loving, and sweet cat. We found Orangie in 2012 as a very hungry and sick boy. After he got neutered, we got to see an new side of him. Orangie loves other cats that we have here. His favorite spot is laying by Dad. Orangie had 15 teeth pulled back in 2017. He pushed through that and he was back to normal soon after We are on SSDI and need help Orangie has no teeth since his surgery in 2017. He's very smart, lovable and loyal. He likes to cuddle, he loves soft food and he also has walked on a leash. He is a good guy. Orangie was injured during a fight in his eye. He was not the aggressor. We have been keeping his eye clean and using eye ointment. It does not seem to be helping. We received a quote via email for 100.53 to see him at the vet. This is an unexpected situation and we are on SSDI. We have no emergency fund. It is urgent that Orangie gets into the vet to be seen. We just don't have the money. Please help!

Frank & Baby lost the only owner they have ever known. Overnight, they became dogs without a home. Family members had no interest in caring for her beloved dogs, and instead abruptly handed them off to rescue. As these sweet seniors mourn their huge loss, they are safe in foster receiving lots of love and care. Basic vetting is now complete, but they need additional senior vet care. Frank is the more outgoing of the duo. He is happy to trot over for some love and affection. And my gosh, is he a snorer! Watch (or listen) the video! Baby is on the shyer side, but she is beginning to open up in her new environment. It was a pleasant surprise to find out she loves stuffy toys! Watch her video! Their foster mom describes them as "an old married couple" and just sweet as can be. Frank & Baby are not reliant on one another, but they find comfort in being together. There is not much interaction between the two of them, but being older dogs...their favorite thing to do is nap in cozy blankets for most of the day! While we have completed basic vet care for Frank & Baby, they are still in need of some additional senior vet care before we search for a loving forever home. They both need senior and pre-surgical bloodwork, dental cleanings and extractions. Baby has a lump that needs to be examined and potentially removed as well. We have a soft spot for seniors. Although senior vetting often depletes rescue funds, we cannot turn our backs on them. Donations help allow us to continue intaking dogs of all ages and providing them with necessary vet care and placing them with loving families.
Taffy
Taffy is a 7-year-old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $800 for Dental Surgery for Gum Disease.

Part of a threesome, affectionately known as The Triplets, Taffy came to The Sanctuary with her blind littermate, Truman and her special needs littermate, Tootie. Both needed medical care for their heart conditions that was not forthcoming in their previous situation. Sweet as the candy, Taffy is the most outgoing of The Triplets and is the strong one that holds the group together. Originally, not a special needs hound, we saw immediately how sister Tootie depended on Taffy for her support and comfort and we knew we could never separate them. Blind Truman also seeks Taffy out for comfort and for guidance in new situations. Taffy definitely has her own needs for human companionship. She’s a sweet, sticky hound that loves her human caretakers, shares their bed and comforts them when they are ill. She's also the alert hound, always watching over her friends and letting us know when someone is doing something that needs attention. Taffy now suffers from an auto-immune disease of her eyes, called Pannus. Thankfully, eye drops have been able to put her in remission and when it flares, we increase her medications. She also inherited a gum disease, despite regular dental care. This has become painful and Taffy needs to have 15-20 teeth extracted. Animals come to The Sanctuary at NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue when they have no place else to go and need medical care beyond what is available at a typical shelter. As a non-profit rescue, we depend on donations to pay for vet bills and are deeply grateful for all help available.
Cecilia
Cecilia is a 10-year-old Mixed Breed Dog in Bend, OR, who needs $553 for Infection, Liver, and Scabies Treatments.

Cecilia is a senior dog who has lived in a shelter in rural Guatemala for several years. She, like the other dogs and cats at the shelter, was rescued from the streets. The shelter is looking for a home for all the animals that live there, but unfortunately it did not find one for Cecilia. There she has a roof, water and food. Cecilia shared a cage with other dogs her age for several years; Little by little, these were dying, so she joined another pack made up of two younger dogs. She adapted very well and they respect her. Like every senior dog, she's calm. Since she has lived in a shelter, she is not used to being loving; however, let them stroke her head. She, like all rescued animals, is special because she is a survivor. She was born and lived in difficult conditions, on a street, without taking the care that is required. She probably had to forage for food since she was little and maybe someone mistreated her while doing it. She was fortunate enough to arrive at a shelter where she has lived for years. Shelter staff observed that Cecilia began to lose weight, despite the fact that she did eat. They dewormed her, but this did not help. Therefore, a volunteer took her to a veterinary clinic to be evaluated. The blood test revealed anemia and an infection. Liver damage was also observed. Skin examination showed scabies. Cecilia lives in an overcrowded shelter with limited resources. People Saving Animals supports the shelter by taking sick dogs and cats to the vet and then takes care of finding financial support to pay the bill.

Carina had a horrible start to life, and with your help, Waggle and One By One Animal Advocates can make sure she lives happily ever after. The kitten suffered a hideous prolapsed eye injury at just two months old. No one knows how it happened, but when One By One Animal Advocates saved her, they did know she was in agony and needed immediate surgery. What amazes the animal welfare group is despite all she's been through, Carina is so sweet and affectionate. "She's still full of love and purrs," Heather A., with One By One Animal Advocates, tells Waggle. "Just imagine the joy she'll bring to her forever family once she's fully recovered." Now the nonprofit group is trying to raise the money to pay the kitten's surgery bill. Please give to help Carina!
Theodore

Theodore was desperate. The senior cat was alone and suffering from a ruptured, swollen eye. He found a woman and begged her for help. The woman couldn't hold back her tears. Her heart just ached when she saw his injured eye. It looked so painful. She knew he needed veterinary care immediately. She felt helpless because she didn't have the money to pay for it. She rushed him to the animal hospital, and that's when One By One Animal Advocates heard about the 11-year-old cat. "As soon as we learned about Theodore, we immediately took him in," Heather A. with the nonprofit organization tells Waggle. "He needed surgery immediately to remove his damaged eye and to be out of pain." Now the group needs your help paying for Theodore's surgery bill. Can you help? Fear and I rescued each other in December of 2009. He was 11 weeks old and born in rescue. I had 3 months of recovery from drugs and alcohol. Fear got his name because I no longer wanted to live in fear of my demons. I wanted to live with them and not be afraid of them anymore. Fear was the answer to my problems with him in my life I stayed Clean. Not consecutively, but now I have over 7 years. Fear has always been a lover of people. He's not afraid of anyone and runs up to them and starts licking their hand. Even people he shouldn't. Kids love him. He has never snarled or bitten anyone. When I'm at work, Fear is alone because as he is my service dog and helps with my disassociation and seizures he's trained to respond, but he's too engaging for me to take to work. He loves hi Baba. Fear loves to talk. Fear can sing if prompted. Fear likes to play games with his Dad. Fear loves to chew on his Babies and play ball, but he still doesn't know how to play fetch. He loves to beg, but he rarely eats people food. Fear loves to go on walks to the park and he enjoys going on travels to new places and on walks in the mountains too. Fear was born with a heart murmur and a lump on his head that is non-cancerous. Fear goes to the vet at least every 1-3 months whether it be for something as simple as a vaccine booster or nail trim or something for evasive like a Urine Culture or Poop Test. He gets a lot of UTI's and has to get expensive antibiotics each time. Fear regularly gets blood draws, ultrasounds, and x-rays Fear saw a Cardiologist in May of 2023 and has an outstanding balance for the Cardiologist's exam, ultrasound, and full X-rays to view his heart murmur and his heart canals. I need help paying that bill off. I'm trying to catch up on rent and IRS payments, and bills.
Cornflake
Cornflake is a 2-year-old Domestic Short Hair Cat in New Haven, CT, who needs $2,000 for Doxycycline and Full-Mouth Extraction.

Cornflake was rescued in New Haven in Nov. 2022. His front feet were swollen (Pillow Feet diagnosis), requirning a long-term course of doxycycline. Once his feet healed, he developed stomatitis, requiring a full-mouth extraction. He is living in a foster home and after 7 months of care, attention and love, Cornflake is fully healed and ready for adoption! Cornflake has 3 favorite resident cats at his foster home who play with him, and he loves to eat. He has a lot of energy and is very "enthusiastic" with his cardboard scratcher. Cornflake primarily eats canned food, but also enjoys smaller dry kibble as a supplement, and soft cat treats. He is very social with people and enjoys watching the birds from inside the house. He would enjoy cat company. Cornflake is special because he was originally a "discarded cat" whose family abandoned him. He found a feral colony where he could eat, but his friendly demeanor left him vulnerable to living outside. He keeps himself very clean, and has good litter box skills, and enjoys interacting with humans for pets, or for playing with toys on a wand. He would not have survived if he wasn't rescued. People who feed outdoor cats do their best, but often these cats do not eat nutritionally balanced food. Cornflake appeared to be healthy at first, but the 2 disorders for which he was treated confirmed he was immunocompromised and needed more care. With antibiotics, diligence, and good food, he is looking wonderful! GNHCP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization supported by donations and grants to carry out its mission to humanely address cat overpopulation through spay/neuter. When a cat is rescued and requires extraordinary veterinary care, it places a burden on financial resources.
