Buster

Buster is a 13 year old Mix-Breed in Bellaire, OH, who needs $2,000 for Major Dental Work Including Extractions Etc..

Bellaire, OH

When he was 3 months old, we rescued him from someone who had been keeping him alone in a locked bedroom after their pitbull attacked him. They were calling him Bo, short for Bocephus, but my kids and I agreed his name should be Buster. Buster was hit by a car and had a broken jaw was he was 3 and he hasn't liked his face being touched ever since. Now that he's a senior dog, he's having dental issues which are causing pain when he eats. New Horizon Animal Hospital has given an estimate that I'm not sure how I could afford at the moment. Buster has been part of the family for as long as my kids can remember. When my teenagers were little, he was just one of the kids. He's always been so good with little ones, he's just so gentle and loving. Now my younger 2 kids are spending the same parts of their childhood with Buster and he still loves sleeping close to the kids like he's watching over them. I wasn't expecting the vets estimate to be so high and I have limited funds to work with. I don't want to delay Buster getting the treatment he needs to feel better soon.

Bentley

Bentley is a 6-year-old Hound Mix in St Clairsville, OH, who needs $2,000 for Heartworm, Lyme, and Enlarged Prostate Treatment.

St Clairsville, OH • The Road Home Animal Project

We drove several hours to pull 3 dogs from a shelter after they put out an SOS needing help because they were full. While there we also pulled Bentley because he was declining in the shelter. He had been there for months and was starting to lose weight and didn't seem to be interested in anything let alone food. So, we added him to our transport to see if we could make his life better. Bentley is now in a foster home, trying to sleep in tiny dog beds rather than the large ones. It must make him feel better. He is no longer sleeping on the concrete in a shelter. He gets along with all his fur siblings in the foster home. He is gentle, quiet and acts very grateful to be out of the shelter. Bentley ended up in the shelter from a hoarding situation. Since we pulled him from the shelter, he has been such a happy boy. He no longer looks depressed. He is learning what treats and toys are all about. He makes us so happy now to see him enjoying a dog bed and having a look of relief rather than worry. We immediately took him to our vet. Lab work confirmed several medical issues. He is Lyme positive, heartworm positive, was full of whip and hookworms and underweight. He was started on a medical treatment plan to get him feeling better. He then had some GI issues. He has an enlarged prostate. He will be weaned off Prednisone to be neutered and then restart treatments. We are a 501c3 with 100% volunteers. We rely on donations. All animals are in foster homes so we have minimal overhead. Donations go directly to animal care instead of utilities and building maintenance.

Maria

Maria is a one-year-old Malinois in St. Clairsville, OH, who needs $2,000 for urgent care.

St Clairsville, OH • The Road Home Animal Project

Maria was dealt a terrible blow. Three of her legs and her tail were somehow crushed. Now she's hobbling in casts as The Road Home Animal Project gets her top-notch care. "She has been sedated numerous times for procedures to remove bone fragments and increase blood flow to the left front and right rear leg. The swelling and vessel injuries were extreme. She is doing better but not out of the woods," the rescue tells Waggle. The rescue needs your help to get Maria back on all four paws again! The group relies on donations and fundraisers to help the animals they save. They are 100% volunteer and foster-based. They do not have facility expenses, so all money goes to the animals. What has impressed everyone is despite her severe injuries, Maria has such a tenuous, fighting, spunky spirit. "This pup is such a pleasant sweetheart, and she is such a fighter that she deserves every chance at a great future," the rescue says. "She is a trooper, and you can't help but smile when she looks at you with her beautiful eyes. Even with broken bones, she is the most pleasant pup and gives kisses and will fall asleep upside down in your arms."

Sir Don

Sir Don is a three-month-old Heeler puppy in St. Clairsville, OH, who needs $2,000 for critical care.

Click the blue donate button and choose the Monthly Donation option.* Sir Don was so sick he was on the verge of death. His owner faced the bleak option of euthanizing the puppy because he could not afford his medical care. That's when the Road Home Animal Project heard about Sir Don. "Sir Don was brought into our vet's office, which was closed. We just happened to be there when the owner showed up with a puppy that had a blood sugar level that didn’t even register because it was so low. He was also hypothermic with a temp of 93 degrees. (A dog's normal temp is 101 to 102.5) The owner surrendered because he could not care for the pup," the rescue tells Waggle. The organization says the owner told them, "This pup was from a very rural area, and all of the puppies die at his place." The group admitted the dying puppy to New Horizon Animal Hospital. The medical team believes he may be suffering from distemper. A very deadly virus. "Sir Don is just now starting to have enough energy to lay and squeak a toy the vet just gave him," the rescue group says. "He will cry and whine and bark at the vet staff so they will pay attention to him. He wants the staff to pick him up and hold him but still being in isolation means he cannot be held the way they would like." He is the only puppy who survived in his litter. "He is improving and gradually was able to sit up after days of being too weak even to lift his head. He has finally started to eat, and we shared the video of his first bites of chicken after days and days of being in the ICU isolation unit at our vet's office," the rescue adds. The rescue has rung up a huge bill trying to save Sir Don's life with round-the-clock care and hospitalization. Fighting economic euthanasia is Waggle's mission, and we're all hoping you can support it too by giving to this sweet pup's campaign. "Sir Don's owner was not financially able to cover costs for his medical care," the rescue says. "He was unselfish and avoided euthanasia. He signed Sir Don over to us so he would have a chance at possibly saving his life."

Smokey

Smokey is a 1-year-old Dsh in Bridgeport, OH, who needs $700 for Panleukopenia viral infection.

Bridgeport, OH

Back in august we found a 3 week old kitten on the side of the road in really bad health. We took him in and gave him the care that he needed and he became part of the family. At 7 months we decided to neuter him and after 2 minutes under anesthesia, his heart stopped. We were devastated. My 10 year old son was hit the hardest. After about a week, we decided to adopt Smokey off Facebook. Smokey came with a brother (7 weeks old). Smokey was very timid for the first 2 days we had him and spent those 2 days under my bed. I would bring him out after a while and spend one on one with him until he finally felt comfortable to come out on his own. After 3 days I learned he did not have vaccines his entire life and was covered in fleas. I made vet appointment immediately. He was family! I’m currently unemployed with 3 children and I’m struggling to keep up. It would mean the world to myself and my son to have him home and loved! I don’t know where I’ll get the money but he will get the medicine he needs. He doesn’t deserve to not have a chance at life! Smokey is currently in the care of “New Horizon Animal Hospital”. He has been there for 24 hours. After 4 days here, he fell ill. He wouldn’t eat or drink. I tried forcing him water and he would immediately vomit. Just the smell of food made him vomit. I took him into the vet on Thursday ( 1week after being here) and they ran multiple tests and concluded his ailment was from not being vaccinate. Smokey is special. He and his brother were what my son (and all of us ) needed after the loss of our rescue. He’s mostly attached to me. I spent most of the one on one with him to make him comfortable here. After 3 days, he was happy. He would purr the loudest purr I’ve ever heard, just by looking at him. And the way he lets his brother beat on him or come see if he’s ok when he cries is so sweet

Mackie

Mackie is a 10-year-old Lab in Wheeling, WV, who needs $2,000 for pancreas removal.

Wheeling, WV

Mackie came into my life 10 years ago. He has been a faithful companion since day one. He knows no strangers. He goes from Lowe’s to Walmart with me. Everyone loves him. He is a service dog and him and I often go to Lowe’s during their children’s events for him to just wonder around and love on the children. I had him certified as a service dog 5 years ago due to my diabetic concerns. If my glucose drops he wakes me to take my medicine. After being certified that would mean that I do not have to leave him and he could be by my side as necessary. He helps me emotionally. I have also taught him to listen to commands. His gentleness succeeds him. This has been an unexpected expense and financially I cannot afford the expense to get him further treatment in such a short notice. It has me concerned that I could loose him before I could acquire the funds to make this happen. About 3 months ago his platelet count has been dropping. The veterinarian placed him on steroids and cancer treatment. It helped for some time but now it is back in the decline. It was 140 a month ago and within the last week it has dropped to 23. He is now in critical condition. The veterinarian wants him to go to Columbus to have his pancreas removed to solve this issue before it kills him. He is my best friend and my constant support through life. I hate to see him go from a happy dog to not being able to walk. I am so concerned about loosing my best friend. Whenever no one else is around I alway have Mackie. He did have a brother but unfortunately I had lost him years ago due to heat stroke.
