Molly

Molly is a 0 year old Dachshund in Albuquerque , NM, who needs $15,000 for Heart Surgery.

Albuquerque, NM

I have been looking for a female dachshund for over a yearand finally found her through a local breeder. We named her Molly mouse because she is so cute and tiny. She was chewing on a meat stock and started choking. We rushed her to route 66 emergency vet and they found she has a heart murmur that caused congested heart failure and needs heart surgery right away or will not live past six months to a year She is so loving and playful. Loves snuggles and harrassing our corgi. She especially loves chewing on long hair. Molly is only 8 weeks old and loves her family Her heart surgery is approximately $15,000 and living in single income household that needs help to pay for the surgery to save her life. My son has only raised $270 and we are losing time

Ash

Ash is a 14 year old American Shorthair in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for Broken Scapula and Oxygen Therapy for Asthma.

Albuquerque, NM

I am a veterinary technician and met Ash when he was just 8 weeks old. He was rescued from a farm because of his amazing personality. He at the time was suffering from a multitude of issues. I was one of the technicians to help make him better. He was brought back to the clinic at 6 months of age because he needed a home. I decided that that home was going to be mine! Best decision ever! Ash was outside with me and my dog when he was attacked by another dog. Ash is asthmatic so due to the attack, he suffered an inability to breathe properly as well as a broken scapula. I rushed him to VCA veterinary Care where he spent the night on oxygen and received pain medication. He may need surgery for his broken shoulder. The surgical referral will tell us more but hopefully he doesn't. Ash is an amazing cat who loves everyone. He is so adoringly friendly and engaging. The minute you meet him, he would situate himself in your lap if you let him and purr while making the best biscuits you've ever had. He loves his dog's sister, Chloe and tolerates his cat's sister Astrid. But he head over heels adores and loves me. And I am so blessed to have him as my boy. I recently lost my job and have been having a difficult time securing another one. I've spent my life helping animals and it is so hard not being able to help my own. Ash is everything to me just like my other two animals. They are the reason why I get out of bed every day.

Fynn

Fynn is a 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for Melanoma ONCEPT Vaccine.

Albuquerque, NM

I adopted Fynn (aka, Fynnjamin, Fynnie Boy, Fynnster) 8 years ago, when I was 19 years old. He was my first dog and we've been inseparable ever since. He has been by my side as I graduated college, got married, and bought a home for him and our other pups to thrive in. He is cuddly, loves belly rubs, and snacks are his absolute favorite! In April of 2024, 7 months after we lost our eldest dog Carl, Fynn was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. It was fully removed via surgery. He has been undergoing treatments for the past year in the form of the ONCEPT vaccine, routine x-rays, and lymph-nod cytology through the VCA Oncology clinic here in Albuquerque. We have routine appointments every 3 months. Fynn is the sweetheart of the family, always cuddling up to us on the couch, in bed, or next to his sister Sawyer. As I type this, he is lying at my feet snoring soundly. He loves to run around outside with his sister, play nosey-neighbor with the other dogs around, and chase the bugs outside. He's real big on ANY treat or attention! I can't imagine our lives without our sweet, sweet Fynn. Unfortunately, each injection costs over $1,000 alone, without the costs for x-rays, sedation, cytology, etc. Fynn has undergone the initial series and has had a booster, but will require a booster every 6 months for the rest of his life to hopefully keep the cancer at bay.

Chip

Chip is a 11 year old Mix-Breed in Clovis, NM, who needs $2,000 for LPP Protocol for Chemotherapy.

Clovis, NM

Chip came into my life 11 years ago as a one week old puppy who had arrived at a the local shelter with his mom. I had the full intent of adopting his mom before I even knew he existed and got a 2 for 1 “special”. Since then we have moved all across the world due to military commitments and Chip and his mom (Molly) have been my rock’s for every bump in the road I’ve encountered in my career. Chip has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma after an enlarged lymph node was discovered during a routine appointment to update his vaccinations after we returned from a two year tour in Japan. Our local veterinary clinic, Prairie Lake VC, referred us to an oncologist at the VCA in Albuquerque, as our location is quite remote. Chip has always been special. Whether it be the way his eyes can’t seem to look the same direction at the same time, or his gentle nature with every human he’s ever encountered, he truly has been my best friend throughout our time together. He constantly plays with his stuffed duck and loves to bathe in the sun. Chip is very much a people pup and will sit in a lap any chance he gets. Due to my recent return from overseas, financial stressors are an upsetting reality. His health and comfort are paramount during this time and any help allows me to focus on his enjoyment of life and providing him joyful experiences instead of worrying how to cover his care

Nico

Nico is a 11 year old German Shepherd Dog in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for Rhinoscopy.

Albuquerque, NM

Nico is 11 years old. He was adopted at 2 months from Animal Humane. He is a sweet and loving dog. Loves cuddles. He coaxed a feral cat to come live with us! She is his baby. He watches and protects his “Negrita”. Nico developed Epistaxis (bloody nose) a month ago. He sneezes out lots of bloody mucus. Our regular vet ran blood tests (all good) and prescribed antibiotics. Referred to VCA Veternary Care Animal Hospital. Could be something lodged in nose, tumor, abscess or cancer. They recommend diagnostic rhinoscopy and CAT scan. Cost for both $7339.85, rhinoscopy alone $3427.12. Treatment? Nico loves to explore the yard daily by his Dad’s side. He looks for his little sister cat (Negrita) and greets with kisses! Nico loves to bark at UPS, Fedx and postal trucks. He waits daily for our postal lady who spoils him with treats. He is definitely a treat monster!!! We don’t know what we will do without our son Nico. Our hands are tied as we are on SS and still pay a mortgage. We used up all our “savings” on vet appointments.

Luna

Luna is a 11 year old Chihuahua in Albuquerque , NM, who needs $2,000 for Emergency Pyometra Surgery.

Albuquerque, NM

I got Luna 10 years ago when I saw a post on Facebook about chihuahua puppies needing a home. When I went to go see her, I knew immediately she was met for me. I took her home and we have been best friends. She’s been with me through the ups and downs. She got me through an abusive toxic relationship never leaving my side always offering me unconditional love and support. She’s my baby. I am currently seeking help to get her surgery for a recently diagnosed open pyometra. She’s a fighter and I know she still has a lot longer in her. The surgery was quoted to cost me over $6000 and I just don’t have the funds for that she’s been there for me in my time of crisis and I need to be there for hers now. She is a big dog in a small package. She has the courage of a lion, the loyalty of an elephant and the sweetness of sugar. Anytime someone meets her they always complement how sweet she is and how playful she is. She has a young heart and an old soul. This expense came up unexpectedly during an emergency visit and unfortunately, I work contract jobs and I am in a bit of a limbo stage right now. My contracts don’t start until the fall again so I am unfortunately on a extremely fixed income.

Lumos Ollivander

Lumos Ollivander is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Mancos, CO, who needs $2,000 for Radioactive Iodine Treatment.

Mancos, CO

Lumos Ollivander came into my life on an impulse in 2013. I had signed a new lease Monday and was headed to the humane society on Tuesday. I left with two kittens, littermates, Lumos and Oblivion. Fast forward ten years. Currently, Lumos resides in a little cabin in the woods for southwest CO. He lives with his brother, Oblivion Juan Katobe, and bestie, Itty “Bitty” Kitty Committee! On May 2nd, Lumos went in for bloodwork and it was discovered he had hyperthyroidism. He had lost 2.5lbs since his last visit and had a notable lump in his throat. We have been recommended to get Radioactive Iodine treatment to kill the tumor. With this tx, Lumos could be completely cured. We are in discussion with our vet at Durango Animal Hospital about in-patient facilities that provide this. Lumos loves post-shower wet pets from my husband and morning under the cover cuddles with mom. He is Bitty’s best friend and cuddle buddy. He is DEFINITELY the Yang to Oblivion’s Yin. He loves hard pets and squishes; his favorite time of day is “squish time” in his squishmallow in front of the wood burning stove. He enjoys hovering over you while you eat and drinking out of your water cup. With a recent job loss this unexpected expense is hitting hard. We are desperately looking for a cure rather than a “treatment”. Lumos has much more life to live, cuddles to give, closed doors to yell at, and squishes to receive.

Baby Boy is a 4-month-old Shorkie in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $600 for Diagnosis and Treatment.

Albuquerque, NM

My baby girl Dash has had her last litter of puppies and with the exception of these two, have all found forever homes. I am in the process of trying to find homes for these final two and things were going great until today. Right after mama went outside she came in and the boys went and tried to nurse. Within minutes they have become very sick. I'm not sure what could have happened. These guys have both been healthy and all of a sudden both are very sick. It happend minutes after mama went outside. I've never seen something like this come on so quickly. Everyone knows how my animals are most important in my life. Since cancer I have struggled with illness after illness leaving me unable to work. Recently I have been going downhill and have applied for my social security. I hope that it will be approved soon. I have not chosen a vet but it will be an emergency clinic here inAlbuquerque.. Everyone knows that without money the Vets won't even see them to tell me what's wrong. I am so afraid of losing them. I went into it earlier with saying that it started with cancer. I went through the most painful and sickening treatment that anyone could imagine. Colon/rectal cancer is no joke. The doctor told me that many people quit before completing the treatment.

Mable Rae

Mable Rae is a 7-year-old Pitbull in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $250 for Eye Specialist Examination.

Albuquerque, NM

On October 20, 2023 I drove to Valencia County Animal Shelter to pick up a darling blind pitbull that came in as a stray. I keep an eye on the Valencia volunteer Facebook group, which is where I saw the plea for a rescue to take this sweet girl, no one had volunteered, so I went and got her as a foster. This shelter euthanizes for space and I didn't want this sweet girl to lose her life. Mable has proven to be an easy going pup who LOVES people and other dogs! Since Mable is blind, she is extra sensitive to noises and if we walk past a person talking she absolutely has to stop and say hi. When she meets strangers she likes to lean into them for pets and will usually end up flopping onto the ground for belly rubs. She also does great with my dog in the home and loves children! By simply looking at Mable, one knows that life has not been fair to her. Her body shows a history of neglect and although there is no way to know what happened to Mable in her past, the state she was in when I got her spoke volumes. But the thing is, Mable is full of LOVE. For people, animals & life. She loves squeaky toys, to roll in the grass & most of all cuddle up with her human. Mable tested positive for ehrlichiosis, which is a awful disease that develops from a infected tick and can cause blindness. Dr. Glandon and her team from Eubank Animal Clinic has been AMAZING in getting her health on track but has referred us to an eye specialist at VCA as the pressure in her bad eye is 70, a healthy range is 12-14. The initial consultation to see a specialist is $250. I was not planning on fostering a dog, but just knew that I had to get Mable as she was at risk for euthanasia. As a single income household, I have done my best to care for Mable, but am at a point where I need help to get her the care that she deserves.

Princess Gaga is a 3-year-old Chihuahua in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for Hermaphrodite Corrective Surgery.

Albuquerque, NM

Our precious fur baby crossed the rainbow bridge 09.29.2023. We were grieving along with our other fur baby. I knew we needed to help us all heal. I found her online at AWD Westside. We went to see her & we knew she was our new family member. She is an extremely loving fur baby. She will lay in our lap for us to pet her for hours. She has a very unique bark. She will scare us sometimes when she barks out of the blue. She loves to sprint through the yard. She was born a hermaphrodite. When we picked her up from the shelter she already been spayed & neutered. She now needs surgery to cover the small penis & vulva along with repositioning her urethra. The vet is TLC Animal Hospital on Wyoming but is being referred to VCA on Montgomery which is a specialty hospital. This is a 24hr clinic that deals with complex cases. She needs dental cleaning with extractions which we're having that done first due to the decrease in bacteria via her mouth. It was quoted at approx $1600. The corrective surgery for her hermaphrodite issue will be approx $1500-$3000.

I don't want her to put her to sleep. Because she's so little and I don't want her to lose her leg. Help! She is so funny, she loves to play and make us laugh. There's never a dull moment with her around. She has so much life in her eyes and in her heart. We just don't know what to do To afford her bill and get her leg hit by side Razor a t v. Her left leg is broken and shattered her paw. Our vet bill is $7000. To fix her leg or she can lose it. But we just want to get her leg fixed so she can have her life back. We just want to get her leg fixed. So she can have her like she loves to play, she's just a baby to die because of her leg broken. My husband recently passed away. And now it's just me and my son. Etta James is a 11-year-old Tortie in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $2,000 for Medical Treatment.

Albuquerque, NM

Meet my Etta. She rescued me 11 yrs ago at an Animal Humane Adoption Event. I put my hand on her cage and she came right up and rubbed her head on my hand. I looked no further, I had my emotional support companion. AH told me she had been surrendered by a family because being around other animals caused her emotional distress. Etta is my only pet and is irreplaceable. Etta is an indoor cat, but occasionally takes supervised strolls to find a warm sunny spot. She is so smart and not the noisy type. She reminds us when we delay going to bed or forget her greenie treat She waits patiently while I go through my night time ritual for preparing to sleep, then quietly climbs into bed with daughter to put her to sleep. Though not a snuggler, she is always on watch. Etta is the first pet I've had in a long time. She is like my grandchild. I talk to her and have taught her commands. I hold up her brush & ask, "You want a brushin'?" Up she jumps on my lap. She is fed with auto feeder, but naps til10 mins before then she comes and sits on the arm of my chair watching her feeder. She will run if you try & grab her, but will flop down & bare her tummy to scratch. She has been sick since June '21 has been treated for URI and severe nasal congestion and given a round of steroids for inflammation. Episodic sneezing blood. Can't breathe thru nose. Vet and ER Vet suspects polyps possible cancer. Inconclusive w/o scope likely CT scan at the ONLY hospital that can; VCA Hospital. I have been on disability for 10 years. I live with my daughter. We live in a 1BR apt and live as simply as we can. I've worked hard all my life. It breaks my heart to not give her my best when she has given her all.

Cobain

Cobain is a 5-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix in Albuquerque, NM, who needs $1,000 for x-rays and fractured bone treatment.

Albuquerque, NM

I’ve had Cobain for 4 years now. I found him at a shelter, and just knew he was the dog for me. We have such an incredible bond, we help each other with our anxieties and sadness. I would do anything for this dog, he’s my pride & joy, I’m so proud of him. I was unfortunately caught without insurance but normally I’m a very conscientious pet parent who takes him for regular checkups. Please help. He’s a sweet dog and such a trooper, his sitter said he’s the best dog she’s ever watched. He loves playing with other dogs, going to Starbucks for puppocinnos, and every now and then I catch him and my cat cuddling. He didn’t even give the vet any trouble, he’s such a good boy. He gets along with everyone, and I sleep soundly at night knowing he would never let anyone hurt me. Like I said, I normally have things under control but recently had a death in the family & also had to escape an abusive situation with my family so I left the state with my necessities and $1500. I’m still trying to get back on my feet but I’m doin my best to be productive. I took him to VCA in Albuquerque when he was hit this morning and they assessed that his leg will need more treatment over the next month or 2 and they want to do more x rays so that they can make sure he doesn’t have any other injuries. Besides that all of his vet visits have been routine care such as vaccines and teeth cleanings. I was able to pay for his scripts so he is not in pain currently. He loves to talk to me, he makes me smile everyday. I love when he gets the zoomies and flies around the yard. I wanna see him do that again. He’s very patient with kids and puppies. He loves stuffed animals and picks them out himself at Petsmart. Even with his injury he’s still so gentle and calm, not snapping at anyone.

She is being treated by Dr. Voss at VCA West Mesa Animal Hospital. This year she has been diagnosed with Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia and high blood pressure. And recently has become worse. She has a bloody nose that has been getting worse and the cause is unknown. Sky she lights up the room. She makes me happy everyday. She’s always there. She loves to talk. She loves to play. Albuquerque, NM

I adopted Rex from my local city animal shelter, where he had been picked up as a stray. I don't know anything about his life prior to being picked up by the city. It was love at first site for the two of us. I am disabled and Rex is my service dog. Rex goes everywhere with me, including a trip to the Grand Canyon and a train trip to Illinois to visit family. Rex is my service dog, and he travels everywhere with me. He loves going for car rides, where he watches for other animals. Rex loves it when his grandmother comes to visit, but wishes she could come more often. Rex has recently started helping me with fostering cats and dogs from the Animal Humane Society. He loves visiting my friends, and has missed them terribly while social distancing. I am disabled and on disability. I have a very little amount of fixed income every month. It allows me to take care of Rex's regular needs, but doesn't allow for any big expenses. Rex has been diagnosed with Distichia, ehich is a condition where eyelashes grow where they shouldn't be. The eyelashes then rub at his eyes, which could cause ulcers to form on the eye and blindness. Rex needs to have a procedure done that would permanently prevent those eyelashes from growing back. He was seen by a specialist at my local VCA hospital, who recommended having the procedure done. Rex is the center of my whole world. He takes wonderful care of me when I am sick. He hardly leaves my side when I'm sick. Rex always makes me laugh when we are playing, because he tries to hoard as many toys as possible. When he thinks he has enough, he looks at me with this big grin and his polka-dot tongue sticking out, so pleased with himself.
