Luke
Luke is a 9 year old Yorkshire Terrier in Norfolk, VA, who needs $7,000 for Mandibular Fracture Repair.
Norfolk, VA
Luke has been a part of our family since the very beginning of his life. My family had both of Luke's parents and I'd always say "I'd love to have a brown/tan dog one day" and years later there he was. A precious, mama's boy with the most lovely underbite. He has been in our lives for 9 years and counting. He was born in 2017, when I was still in high school, so he's been a part of EVERYTHING. Luke was attacked by a larger dog leaving him with a broken mandible, which was detected by the vets of VEST, located in VB, Virginia. And they have referred us to go to VVC Short Pump (located in Henrico, VA) to the specialty vets. Because of the severity of the break and his age, this procedure is urgent and costs more than our family can afford. Luke's favorite person would have to be his mama. We have been through it all together. Moving, marriage, me having children, and me going through loss. Luke's been my safe place through it all. Leading me to who his other best friends are, my daughters. He is so fascinated by them and loves all the rubs. He's with us through it all, rather it's a trip to the mailbox or a roadtrip to see family. We are a military family living off one income. My husband is a E-3 airmen who works extremely hard to support us, but between three children, Luke, and ourselves it is impossible to come up with $7,000 for the procedure. We need our community more than ever.

Princess Pizza
Princess Pizza is a 18 year old Mix-Breed in Richmond, VA, who needs $5,605 for Staged Bilateral Radical Mastectomy (Stage 1).
Richmond, VA
Princess Pizza has lived with our family since 2023. At 18, she is a solo cat living with us in Richmond, VA, having outlived her three siblings. She is a strictly indoor cat, highly active, and "Bright, Alert, and Responsive." She spends her time playing in her tunnel with her favorite ribbon, and herding us to the couch. She is in a stable environment perfect for post-op recovery. Princess was diagnosed with Grade II tubular mammary carcinoma. Her thoracic x-rays are currently clear, making her an ideal candidate for a staged bilateral radical mastectomy to prevent spread. We recently noted new growth near her biopsy site, increasing the urgency. She is being treated by the surgical and oncology specialists at Virginia Veterinary Centers. Pizza is our "Wiggly Girl." She’s a vocal, demanding 18-year-old who "talks" us through every morning and evening. She is incredibly affectionate, greeting us with chirps and head-butts. Despite her age, she is playful and curious, interacting with us like a much younger cat. She’s a survivor who has been our steady companion through some big losses. She isn't just a pet; she is the boss. We’ve put the bulk of my annual bonus toward the first $5,600 deposit so Pizza can have surgery now. This leaves a huge gap for her second stage and follow-up. Having her healthy means keeping "our gorl" alive and finally giving her a cancer-free future.

Ozzy
Ozzy is a 2 year old French Bulldog in Petersburg, VA, who needs $2,000 for MRI.
Petersburg, VA
As a disabled US Army veteran who lives alone, I got Ozzy as a companion dog to help with my severe anxiety/depression. We live in a small home in Petersburg, VA. He's a very friendly, loveable goofball. He was recently seen at an urgent care for lethargy, trouble walking, and pain. The vet said he may have IVDD and needs and MRI to be sure. Possibly surgery which is very expensive. This guy loves everyone, and most people love him! Everyone in the neighborhood knows his name! He has a beautifully sweet temperament, although typically stubborn like most Frenchies. He's my best friend. The amount of comfort and happiness he brings cannot be overstated. I love him so much. I want Ozzy to be his old exuberant self again. An MRI is an unexpected large expense that I just cannot cover without help. The MRI is just to diagnose him for certain, possible surgery is even more costly. Please help if you can, I need my little dude to get better.

Cody
Cody is a 7 year old Beagle in Montpelier, VA, who needs $2,000 for Extensive Procedure for a Necrotic Wound.
Montpelier, VA
I got my baby boy Cody at a buy, sell, trade fair. He was so cute with his spots! He was the only boy in the litter they had. He looked so adorable with his big ears and spotted snout. I’m looking for assistance because my poor baby was shot 13 times with a BB gun and needed an emergency procedure because of an abscess from one of the BBs. We are still investigating who might have done this. Cody is sweet ole Beagle. He loves to snuggle and play with our younger Lab. He’s full of life and loves people. My kids enjoy his spunkiness. He has his own personality. I’m a single mother of two kids and we’ve struggling already with an expensive car repair. I do not have family that is able to assist. We just want our Cody taken care of and home.

Baxter
Baxter is a 11 year old Jack Russell Terrier in Virginia Beach, VA, who needs $2,000 for Blood Transfusion, Bone Marrow BX/Aspirates.
Virginia Beach, VA
I did not know what I was getting into with Jack Russel's, especially two males and half brothers at that! Baxter and his brother (Bartley) are my first dogs as an adult. The first few years were ridiculous and I have many stories, but I am a firm believer in keeping commitments to animals and so even though they drove me crazy, I learned so much and I love them so stinking much. Baxter is 11 but still had puppy energy until April. He's lost a significant amount of weight (from17lbs down to 13lbs), has had an emergency blood transfusion and recently visited VVC in Richmond (4th vet in 2 months). As I understand it, his body has stopped producing red blood cells but as of right now he is still not diagnosed; he is on medication as the vets try to figure out why. Baxter is a sour patch dog of sorts (ha!) Sweet to some, sour to others. He looks innocent but is very sneaky and mischievous, and has kept me on my toes for 11 years. I have moved frequently over the past decade and he has escaped at least once at every location (first thing he does!). The most memorable was when he ran straight to a pond in an apartment complex to chase the ducks lol. I'm struggling and hurting with the thought that this could be the end and I won't even know why. Please help! I have spent + 5k and the next estimate is +6k. Attempts to diagnose him are via process of elimination and still don't have an answer as to why this is happening.

Kande
Kande is a 18 year old American Shorthair in Newport News, VA, who needs $2,000 for Diagnostics for T-cell Lymphoma.
Newport News, VA
Working as an archeologist, I spent many nights in hotels while working on different projects. On my way home from a project, I passed by an ASPCA, and decided to make a stop! I adopted in Oct 2008 when she was 4 months, and we have been on many adventures together since then. Kande means 1st born in Asante. I recently discovered her love for cornbread when I caught my sister giving her some! Kande was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma, which is curable with treatment. It has caused other health issues which she is being treated for. I have found a charity that may be able to help with the treatment, but too much time has passed and they are requiring her to be re-diagnoised. The Virginia Vetinary Center office visit and testing to get the diagnosis is around $2500. I have been processing through some health issues over the past few years, and Kande has been right there with me. She brings me comfort and cuddles on days that I am not feeling my best. When I moved away from family and friends, she was always at home waiting for me, and greeted me with excitement when I walked in the door. I have only been able to find part-time work since I have moved back home, which covers my bills, Kande's vet appointments and medications. My family has helped, but are no longer able to financially with Kande's care.

Winston
Winston is a 4-year-old French Bulldog in Richmond, VA, who needs $2,000 for Specialists.
Richmond, VA
Hi, my name is Jose and Winston is my 4yr old frenchie. Winston has always been a dog full of energies, love, healthy as a horse and the most sweetest loving baby. He loves to be around people and boy does he love kids!! Ever since the day he entered our lives, he has been the greatest gift a pet parent could have. Between his charming looks, funny personality and his gentle loving heart, you melt Simply looking at him will make you melt! Winnie Pooh as we like to call him, has two younger brothers Elijah & Senna. Elijah is 3 yrs young and has been Winstons partner in crime since he was 6 months. Both of them are like two peas in a pod, of how close they are to each other. Winston has always taken care of Elijah as the big brother he is, and loves to be all over him. Senna is a mess lol ❤️ This boy is never still and can wear his brothers out, just not himself! All three of them have made our family what it is and we wouldn’t trade any of it for the world! Unfortunately, we noticed Winston hadn’t been acting like himself. He was losing weight all of a sudden which at first we thought his brothers were taking his food so we started to feed them separately. Now, we notice blood in his stool every time he went out. First started light, then it progressively got worse. His nose at this point has gotten dry and crusty and is constantely thirsty and would also pee himself. Of course we are so concerned we take him to an Urgentvet to see what is wrong with him. After running tests we discover his kidneys are not functioning correctly, he has fusions around lungs, heart and abdomen. We need to run more test which cost so much to figure out what is wrong. Virginia Veterinary Centers-Carrytown is doing everything they can to help him.

Precious
Precious is a 6-month-old Pitbull in Henrico, VA, who needs $794 for Seizure monitoring.
Henrico, VA
Precious was adopted by our family 6 months ago when she was a puppy from a shelter. She was the runt of the litter and we were picked specially for her. She loves playing with her two human children and cat best friend. She has become a huge part of our family. She is the furry family member we looked for over a long period of time. We were blessed to get picked to have her join our family. Precious loves playing with her human children and her cat best friend. She is super energetic and loces her cuddles. She loves to play outside at the park with her human kids, she loves a good run, and she loces to play fetch. She is super protective of her family. Precious loves to meet new people with her big personality. Precious loves her trick time. She loves getting her treats from learning new tricks. She is super intelligent and corky. She will run all over the house at full speed to get you to play with her. She has a bunch of toys that she scatters through the house to get your attention. Precious will bring all the toys and set them in your lap to get you to play. Unfortunately, within the passed week Precious began having seizures. We do not know what is causing them. She was taken to the vet and they have been running test, and monitoring her. She has had to stay overnight and the cost so far are beyond what we can afford given that it is so unexpected for a 6 month old puppy od her breed to habe seizures. Due to this, the expenses have gather by far. This is a sudden major expense that was unexpected. We filed for pet insurance a week prior to her developing seizures. This means the insurance will not cover the cost of her vet visit. Anything helps to get Precious back with her human kids and healthy

Philly
Philly is a 6-year-old Pitbull in Chesterfield, VA, who needs $2,000 for critical care for obstruction.
Chesterfield, VA
Philly is one of two dogs in our household. We have had him since he was 9 weeks old and he is now 6 years. He is our son's buddy who likes to play and sit on him all the time. Philly was rescued as a puppy after his owner unexpectedly passed away and has been spoiled rotten and loved so much ever since. Philly follows our 1 year old around daily playing and protecting him. He loves to snuggle and thinks he’s a lap dog. Philly enjoys eating peanut butter and sitting underneath our son's high chair to catch any and all food that drops. He enjoys playing with his little sister who is a Lhasapoo and keep Philly's energy high and young. We are down to one income right now unexpectedly and did not have any funds saved up. Due to COVID we lost our second form of income. We recently also had a car break down costing a lot in repairs. Philly swallowed a pacifier whole causing an intestinal blockage. His primary vet Stonehenge did x-rays and sent us to the emergency vet center. They were able to do an ultrasound and concluded Philly needs surgery to have the blockage removed. Helping hands will be performing the surgery but Philly will need additional after care as well. I truly believe Philly thinks he’s a human. He understand pretty much everything you say and loves to watch tv. I’ve never seen a dog so interactive and loving in my life. I’d you’ve met Philly you know how sweet he is. And how he loves to give wet kisses and sit in your lap. He’ll snuggle right on up next to you.

Beowulf
Beowulf is a 14-year-old Dachshund in Prince George, VA, who needs $2,000 for Thyroid Cancer Removal.
Prince George, VA
Beowulf came into my life as a puppy that I bred. He was born deaf, but that never stopped him from being the shinning star in my life. Numerous adventures in the show ring, and the leader of the pack, nothing slowed him down. Affectionally known as my 'tit-bag' he is constantly by my side. With a household of my dachshunds, he still rules the house. Our household consists of 3 additional dachshunds (all my breeds) and a rescued pit bull. Beowulf is the master of the food and water bowl, but kindly shares with whatever doggies and kitties that are part of the household or just visitors! Our household is open to any animal that needs babysitting or just tender loving care. Beowulf always makes everyone welcome. He even likes the humans! I am currently retired on disability with limited income. As I said before, Beowulf is my tit-bag and I created him. He is the sparkle in my eye and brings such joy. Although he cannot hear me, I never forget to tell him how much I love him and need him in my life. Beowulf was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and it has spread to both sides. The Virginia Veterinary Centers has a full oncology staff that has addressed his care. I am especially grateful to Dr. Andrew Mercurio for his excellent care and always making sure that Beowulf's care is of the utmost standards. The cutest thing about Beowulf is how he bounces across the floor when he is pleased with himself for using the potty pad or the front yard for business. He looks like a little jack-rabbit! He loves his little treats and even the bones that can be as big as he is! He especially loves Christmas time and can expertly open any packages!

Hazel Booth
Hazel Booth is a 5-year-old Pitbull Lab Mix in Chester, VA, who needs $1,100 for CT Scan/ Rhinoscopy.
Chester, VA
When I was a waitress living in Georgia there was a free adoptions sign right across the street and I went over there and saw her and instantly fell in love. I brought her home and decided to name her Hazel Marie. The name just clicked and I call her my little Hazelnut. Before she was mine her previous owners abandoned her. So we rescued each other. Hazel is the silliest and most playful dog ever. She's a big cuddle bug. She always lays on my fiancé and I's chest or gets right in between us. The family that she has met she has loved. All of my cousins have dogs of their own. She loves all animals and people. Even after her previous owners abandoned her and left her to die, her personality shines through and lights up every room. Getting these tests done to find out what's wrong with our baby girl would mean the world to us. She's a healthy 5 year old with a very unexpected illness. We spent the rest of our money on her bloodwork alone. Hazel's nose started bleeding about 1 month ago once or twice a week. Our vet at VetXpress suggested we go to Virginia Veterinary Centers as Hazel's nosebleeds turned into her sneezing out blood clots and bleeding every 5-10 minutes. We brought her to the emergency room there and ran her bloodwork and vitals. They came back normal. That means it's something more serious like cancer or a tumor. My fiancé has said to me "Honestly, Hazel is the dog version of you." She is very silly. She smiles all the time and shows her teeth. It's adorable. She has this pumpkin squeaky toy she sleeps with and carries it around everywhere. She also loves to play fetch with her toys. She'll mess with you acting like she handing you the toy and then runs away when you try to grab it.

Cooper
Cooper is a 2-year-old Yorkie in Richmond, VA, who needs $2,000 for Endoscopy.
Richmond, VA
I have had Cooper for 2 years. he is such a cuddle bug and wouldn't even hurt a fly! He is always looking for love and cuddles! He has always been a very healthy and happy boy. He gets along well with all dogs and humans alike and he can always tell when something is wrong. He comes up to you and puts his paws on you to let you know he is there My beautiful Cooper does so well with my family members. He does especially well with my 6 year old niece. She loves this dog and would be absolutely devasted if anything were to happen to him. As of now with his medical problem she is calling every couple of hours to check in on her best friend. He truly brightens up everyones day This dog is my absolute world. He is like my child and a huge part of our family. Due to covid we have had a lot of trouble making ends meet and finding well paying jobs. We dont want this global pandemic to effect my poor baby’s life Unfortunately while Cooper was having a play date he got ahold of a bone from his friend that he is not used to having. He did get this stuck in his throat and has not been able to eat or drink at all since. He also began vomiting snd started having troubled/labored breathing. We immediately took him to the ER and were told he would need an endoscopy and possible surgery He can always tell when you are upset or in a bad mood, he will come up to you and “pet you” by putting his paw on you and playing with you until you are happy and smiling again. He loves to cuddle up on the couch and watch movies with my family. He especially loves playing with my little niece who is like his best friend

Lego
Lego is a 5-year-old Tabby in Highland Springs, VA, who needs $2,000 for Exploratory Abdominal Surgery with Excision and Histology.
Highland Springs, VA
Legolas (or Lego as she prefers) was found as a kitten near my home in Richmond Virginia. That was just over 5 years ago now. She grew up almost solely around rescue pit bulls and often times acts like one herself! She has a "sister" named Miata who is the polar opposite of her - pure cat through and through. Lego is the absolute sweetest cat you could ever meet. My partner and I live in a modest home near Richmond, Virginia. Lego is the queen of the house (when our pittie Skittles is not around) and gets along famously with her four legged siblings. Lego is known as my "secretary" since she has a dedicated spot on my desk for when I'm working from home. She stares at "her" fish tank, headbutts me at will, and enjoys time in the sun. After my business was hit hard due to COVID, our emergency fund was simply not enough to cover the estimated $7,000 cost of treating Lego. We've already gone through the first $4,000, but each step seems like the final one, so we keep pushing on. I miss her trill most of all Currently Lego is being seen by a small team of doctors. Doctors Dong, Leonard, and Watts are at Virginia Veterinary Centers in Richmond Virginia. Lego is currently in liver failure; she stopped eating about a week ago and was seen by her primary vet (Doctor Britney, VCA New Kent) who referred her to VVC. Lego has already been discharged from VVC requiring surgery to remove a mass from her liver. 100% a dog stuck in a cat's body, Lego is about as unique as they come. Her "sister" Miata is all cat - lives in a cat tower overlooking the living room and enjoys interacting with people on her own time. Lego is the opposite. She is happy to be picked up and toted around the house with whomever she has decided to headbutt that day, trilling at everyone along the way. She's loud, and in charge!

Atlas
Atlas is a 1-year-old English Bulldog in Chester, VA, who needs $1,093 for Unknown Illness.
Chester, VA
This is our doggy, Atlas. He’s a 42 lb, 9 month old English Bulldog. He came into our family on Christmas Day 2019. He is our first pet as a family. We have 3 kids that love him to pieces! I’m sure I love him most!! He lives with my husband, my 14 yo daughter, 9 yo son, and me. My oldest daughter is 19, and in college. She visits her buddy when she comes home. Atlas HAS to sleep with one of us. And prefers to lay on your legs. I’m guessing he’s trying to prevent us from getting up lol. He’s a super active Bulldog, and loves for someone to give him belly rubs, or blow raspberries on his neck. Then he will start to lick your ears. He liked to rough house with my husband and son, but is super gentle with us ladies. My husband is the only one working right now, and is stressed at work. He protects the community. This is our chance to protect and save our little guy. We all miss him, and I’ve been crying since we took him. He needs to get well and come home to us. Atlas has been completely healthy up until last night. He all of a sudden wouldn’t stand up or walk, and was having tremors, and cried when I picked him up, he cried. We took him to a Virginia Veterinary Center in Richmond, VA. Last night his bloodwork was fine, glucose normal, etc. slightly elevated WBC. I called this morning to check, he now has a fever, still won’t move, and now refuses to eat. Atlas likes to talk a lot. People often ask if we own some kind of alien monster, or a dog, because of the odd and funny sounds he makes. His favorite treat is a piece of an orange. He will harass you for long after giving him some, if you don’t wash the orange smell off. His favorite place to sit besides on us, is in our window sill behind the couch. He pretends to be a cat!

Pretzel
Pretzel is a 5-year-old Chihuahua in North Chesterfield, VA, who needs $2,500 for Broken leg surgery .
North Chesterfield, VA
Well, on February 16th I was searching the internet for a gift to myself, I was always going on to my boyfriend about getting a dog because I wanted one for an emotional support animal. I suffer from anxiety and frequent fainting episodes. I came across Pretzel from a breeder about 2 hours away and I fell in love with him the moment he came into my arms. Pretzels life is full of toys, treats and excitement. We love taking Pretzel outside in our front area and let him run free to play fetch, he is amazing at bringing the ball back and making you fetch it! My boyfriend gets along so well with pretzel, as pretzel holds the alpha title in the home, he is the sweetest boy to any guest that I have over. He’s a very active puppy and he is so smart! COVID-19 caused my place of employment to be completely shut down. I work in a salon. Having Pretzel healthy and happy Is most important to me, he is a very smart, happy puppy who has his whole life to live. I don’t want to see him suffer in pain the rest of his life. Dr. Abigail A Thomas at the Dogwood Animal Hospital was the vet who treated Pretzel the night he broke his arm. Pretzel broke two bones in his left arm, the radius and which is right above his wrist. He will be needing surgery to correct his bones and properly place them so he can grow normally and not run into problems such as a mal alignment or non union. Pretzel talks back to me, I’ve always seen dogs on social media communicating with their owners, and he argues with me and fusses through his barks and soft whines when he wants something. Pretzel spins around in circles when he gets really excited, sometimes I think he’s going to make himself dizzy. He is the best boy in the world and always is looking out the window for me when I come home.

Rosie
Rosie is a 4 year-old Pitbull Mix in Henrico, Virginia who needs 3,688 for Right TPLO.
Henrico, VA
I adopted Rosie a little over a year ago from Powhatan Animal Control. She has helped me feel comforted after making a cross country move to an area where I didn't know anyone. She's always around to hang out and go for walks when I don't have anyone to hang out with. She helps keep me sane in times when I am struggling.

Shadow
Shadow is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky in Richmond, VA who needs $3,500 for urinary tract surgery.
Richmond, VA
Me and Shadow come in each other's life at a perfect time he was my cousin's dog but he was living in a cage in an apartment at the time I had a yard and means to take care of them better than anyone else and at that time he didn't really take to a lot of people but me and him became best friends instantly

Oscar
Oscar is a 1-year-old Persian Cat in Midlothian, VA who needs $1,800 for colonoscopy.
Midlothain, VA
Oscar is 5 months old and small for his age. We took him in knowing he had some problems, we thought a minor prolapse. He was and is having issues with constipation. He has had a few enemas. He's been given stool softeners, special food, everything the regular vet could think of and test for. It hasn't helped so we've been referred to a specialist. Step one is sedation and exam. ($700) After that possibly a colonoscopy ($2500) or surgery for mega colon ($$$ we don't even know the cost of this yet) Oscar is a sweet, active, happy boy who loves to snuggle with me and play with feathers.

Frunchie
Frunchie is a 2-year-old Exotic Bully in North Chesterfield, VA, who needs $3,100 for a C-section.
N Chesterfield, VA
Frunchie has been in our family for 2 years and we love her unconditionally but she is pregnant and unfortunately she is unable to push her baby's out so we had to rush her to the doctor who wants to do an emergency cesarean section that we are unable to afford. We have applied for care credit and was declined. Also, applied for scratch pay but the amount approved is to low to do anything with. We are asking for help to save our family pet because if we wait she will succumb to her death and that would devastated the whole family
