Fear

Fear is a 13-year-old Chiweenie in Aurora, CO, who needs $466 for Cardiology Exam And Diagnosis.

Aurora, CO

Fear and I rescued each other in December of 2009. He was 11 weeks old and born in rescue. I had 3 months of recovery from drugs and alcohol. Fear got his name because I no longer wanted to live in fear of my demons. I wanted to live with them and not be afraid of them anymore. Fear was the answer to my problems with him in my life I stayed Clean. Not consecutively, but now I have over 7 years. Fear has always been a lover of people. He's not afraid of anyone and runs up to them and starts licking their hand. Even people he shouldn't. Kids love him. He has never snarled or bitten anyone. When I'm at work, Fear is alone because as he is my service dog and helps with my disassociation and seizures he's trained to respond, but he's too engaging for me to take to work. He loves hi Baba. Fear loves to talk. Fear can sing if prompted. Fear likes to play games with his Dad. Fear loves to chew on his Babies and play ball, but he still doesn't know how to play fetch. He loves to beg, but he rarely eats people food. Fear loves to go on walks to the park and he enjoys going on travels to new places and on walks in the mountains too. Fear was born with a heart murmur and a lump on his head that is non-cancerous. Fear goes to the vet at least every 1-3 months whether it be for something as simple as a vaccine booster or nail trim or something for evasive like a Urine Culture or Poop Test. He gets a lot of UTI's and has to get expensive antibiotics each time. Fear regularly gets blood draws, ultrasounds, and x-rays Fear saw a Cardiologist in May of 2023 and has an outstanding balance for the Cardiologist's exam, ultrasound, and full X-rays to view his heart murmur and his heart canals. I need help paying that bill off. I'm trying to catch up on rent and IRS payments, and bills.

Penny

Penny is a 1-year-old Chihuahua in Westminster, CO, who needs $2,000 for GI tract biopsy.

Westminster, CO

I adopted my sweet girl from a rescue on April Fool’s Day, 2021. She is my favorite decision and my sweetest gift. Penny lives with me and we often host Airbnb folks and their cats and dogs. Penny had the sweetest temperament and gets along with all the animals, but the people are by far her favorite. Penny is a snuggle bug. She loves sleeping anywhere near me; she prefers to sleep under the covers and in cozy items like her dog bed and a pillow. She is a sun seeker and loves laying on the porch. Penny is calm and docile but adventurous. We go paddle boarding often, and as she is registered as a psychiatric service dog, she has flown and done amazing, sleeping through takeoff and landing 🙌🏼 I have some savings, but not enough to cover her procedures. Have pet insurance but they said her red count is an pre-existing condition and they won’t cover anything related to that. Care credit and scratch pay have denied me due to my credit. When I got Penny, she was secretly sick. I didn’t realize anything was wrong until we went to the initial vet and they said she was incredibly anemic, had a parasite, and needed a blood transfusion. I cried as my roommate called the rescue and asked what to do. As we’ve gone on, she’s not been regenerating red cells so we are working to understand and diagnose what is happening. VRCC is the vet. Penny is a gem. She loves going on rides, with her favorite place to ride behind my head on my shoulders. She loves eating frozen peas, carrots, green beans, and the occasional blueberry. She loves chasing her toys and will dance for treats. Food really excites her and she loves rolling around in the grass. She is so silly and I just love her!

Carla

Carla is a 3-year-old Chihuahua in Glendale, CO, who needs $1,886 for Orthopedic surgery to treat left scapular fracture.

Glendale, CO

Carla came into our lives about 3 years ago when she was about 12 weeks old. We adopted her from our neighbor after pet-sitting on a number of occasions, and since then Carla and my son have become best buds. She is a tan Chihuahua (chiweenie, maybe?) and is the spitting image of my last dog Carl (hence her name). Carla will gladly nap in her kennel all day, and waits patiently for the sun to shine through the window so she can bask in the sun. Could she sleep in her own bed at night? Sure. Will I continue to let her snuggle under my blankets or curl up behind my knees at bedtime? I sure will. Carla tends to follow me around the house, mostly because she knows I'm the one in charge of food distribution. I have worked very hard saving and rebuilding my credit this past year after all of the financial hits we experienced in 2020. However despite working two jobs, I do not have enough money in my emergency funds to cover such a sudden expense. Carla fell while running up stairs and fractured her shoulder on 7/16. After taking her to the ER, we were told she would need orthopedic surgery. When I expressed concern over the cost, a number of vet hospitals suggested amputation. I contacted over a dozen vets throughout the area, I was finally found a surgeon who went over all of our options and said amputation would not be necessary. There are times she drives me nuts (like when she pulls the covers off me in the morning, or chews on my earrings) but then she pops up one ear and all is forgiven. She likes to yell at me when I bring her to work, since she knows I'll give a treat to get her to shut up in front of clients. Carla is such a sweet dog, and she has a way of charming everyone she meets.

Photo of Lexii Lexington

Lexii Lexington

Lexii Lexington is a 1-year-old Mastiff Pitbull mix in Brighton, CO, who needs $2,000 for Ureteroneocystostomy.

Morrison, CO

Lexii came to us by a happenstance. In the heart of covid we knew we were ready to get a new baby for the family. A fur baby. We found her and her sister (Emma) on craigslist. At 8 weeks old these little ladies were not getting picked up. So we dived in as a family and went for it. But little did we know our little brindle lady would require a lot of medical care. Lexii is just as wild as she kind. Her smile alone can brighten any day. Seeing her booty wiggle and the tail just a wagging. She loves to lay in the sun with her sister Emma. They love the water, dog park, run's and anything outside. Lexii loves to cuddle up with her two human siblings. We share healthy dog and human snacks and watch movies in our cali king size bed every Friday night. We confirmed this with an ultrasound that she has an etopic ureter on her right side. In order to clear her of all and any recurring infections we need to do the surgery to fix the ureter or her life span will fall from 12-15 year's to maybe 3 at max. We do not want to lose. As the months went by we noticed Lexii was leaking urine. Constantly. She was completely potty trained. She would ask to go outside. Then around 10 month's old I noticed there was blood in her urine. We took her in. She has an extremely bad UTI that was now going into her kidney's. Her Vet said she could possibly have what is called 'Etopic Ureters'. Lexii loves to play with her sister Emma. They play all day long. From chasing each other around the house and yard to tug o war these two are inseparable. Lexii loves her human babies as well. She loves to play in the hose, fetch and laying in the sun beam with mom. After getting all toasty warm Lexii loves to go cuddle dad and watch her nature shows.

Photo of Berlin

Berlin

Berlin is a 3-year-old German Shepherd in Leadville, CO, who needs $2,254 for Fractured Osteosarcoma Amputation .

Leadville, CO

We got Berlin in June of 2019. Currently, we live in Leadville, CO. He didn't quite get along with the dogs in his old family, so we made him the only dog in our family! Since we got him, Berlin has come out of his shell very much. He loves to play fetch, eat cheese, and cuddle with his humans. He's the perfect dog for us, and I believe we'rethe perfect people for him! Berlin loves to cuddle first thing in the morning when he wakes up. He hops into bed with us and goes right back to sleep! He also loves car rides, he looks forward to them daily. Berlin loves to learn new tricks and gets so excited when he nails the trick AND gets a treat! He is very patient and will bring me shoes when it's time to go for a walk. This was a very unexpected medical event, we don't have the funds readily saved up for the amount of treatment. Times have been rough recently, I will be back to full-time work (hopefully) soon. Berlin saved us, we will do everything we can to save him! Berlin's leg was swelling at the beginning of May, and we were treating it as a sprained ankle with his local vet. We went to follow up with an x-ray a few weeks later to check for a break, but we saw a tumor in his bone. We had our first appt. with oncology, and Berlin has Osteosarcoma. He will need his front right leg amputated due to a pathological fracture. Chemo for post-amputation treatment. Berlin is a smart dog, so his favorite toy is his puzzle! He has to take pieces out and slide the others around, and then flip some pieces open to get all the treats! Berlin loves going on adventures, any kind. Hikes, snowboarding, biking, skateboarding, you name it. He loves to go fast with his humans. Berlin is so adventurous that he got his own Instagram!
