Chucky

Chucky is suffering from congestive heart failure and needs your help.

New Milford, CT • All About the Dogs Rescue

Chucky became an AATDR dog several months ago, and he's made so much progress! He is learning that people can be his friends, and he is increasingly willing and able to socialize in this big, wide world. Now we need to help him heal physically. Without lifesaving surgery to implant a pacemaker, Chucky is in real danger of sudden death. The medications prescribed by his cardiologist aren't helping nearly as much as hoped. He is still suffering from congestive heart failure. He has a "total block" which means that his heart doesn't pump blood effectively with every beat - it is erratic in its ability to do that. He has degenerative valve disease and an abdomen full of fluid from heart failure, even with the medications. His heart rate is only a maximum of 40 beats per minute. The only way it can be corrected is with a pacemaker. With the pacemaker, we're told the prognosis is excellent. It is expected to be curative, and will allow Chucky to live an active, normal life although he will always need periodic re-checks. Up until being found as a stray in Waterbury CT and spending over 6 months at Waterbury Animal Control, Chucky's history is unknown. Given his medical status and his initial distrust of humans, however, it seems safe to assume that his life had not been a happy one. At the pound, Chucky was hard to "read" - he was unpredictably unsure of some people - so much so that he was listed as "rescue only" - meaning he could leave the pound only if he was under the care of an approved rescue organization. When the pound became full he was scheduled for euthanasia, and we thankfully were able to take him into rescue and thus save his life. Now we need to save it a second time! He's gone through a board and train program. He's learning to trust - possibly for the first time in his life. He is relaxed and happy in his foster home. He is increasingly able to make new human friends. He enjoys the company of other dogs. Chucky is all set to be able to live a long and happy life... except that his heart condition is likely to kill him before he has a chance to experience that! Please join with us to fight for Chucky's life! We need to raise $10,000 - the surgery alone is estimated to cost a minimum of $5,103.50 and a maximum of $5,777.63. We have already spent almost $5,000 on appointments and diagnostics, between his primary vet and his cardiologist. He's had two electrocardiograms and two echocardiograms done. He's had bloodwork done several times. He was treated for two tick-related illnesses when he first came to us - and is being retreated because the positive results of his most recent tick tests were higher than would be the case normally for a dog who had previously been infected. We are currently tapped out. We cannot provide what Chucky needs without your help! Please join Chucky's team by donating as generously as you possibly can, today! He is scheduled for his pacemaker surgery on September 1. We must pay the bill date of service. Chucky needs your help right away!

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a 6 month old Mix-Breed in Hermitage, PA, who needs $2,000 for Exam and Treatments.

Hermitage, PA • R3 Feral Cat Rescue Inc

Pumpkin came to R3 as an outdoor cat colony—just 6 months old, ready to take on her second chance. But not long after, poor Pumpkin began showing signs of pain and swelling around her gums, and it’s progressively worsened. Which, given her young age, was incredibly unusual and required extensive diagnostic testing, X-rays, and treatment to diagnose. The answer? Severe stomatitis—a brutal inflammatory disease where her own body attacks her teeth and gums, and sadly, it will progressively get worse. Already, her tiny mouth is so inflamed and infected that there isn’t a moment where she’s truly comfortable. Despite it all, Pumpkin is a little ball of sunshine with the biggest heart. She’s the kind of cat who greets you at the door, follows you from room to room, and gently pats your arm when she wants attention. She loves chasing her toy mice, watching birds out the window, and snuggling into my lap when she’s tired. Everyone who meets her comments on how gentle and affectionate she is—she’s the perfect little shadow. But Pumpkin’s sudden medical issue has come at a tough time financially. Her vet visits and treatment costs have skyrocketed. Surgery is officially scheduled for January 5th, the cost of which ($2,100) must be covered in full before the procedure date. I’m doing everything I can to get her the care Pumpkin needs, but really need all the support possible. If you’re able to help – even a little – your support goes directly toward ensuring Pumpkin’s January 5th surgery can happen on time and her pain can finally end. ❤️

Apollo

Apollo is a 2-year-old Great Dane in Bealeton, VA, who needs $2,000 for abdominal exploratory surgery.

Bealeton, VA

I’ve never owned my own dog, and I fell in love with my husband’s Great Dane, Zeus. He decided to get me my Apollo for my Birthday in 2019. He has been a very healthy boy until this month, and only required regular checkups with the vet. He is the only pet in our family with such a comical personality and a complete mama’s boy. Apollo is my heart. He sticks to me like Velcro and helps me tremendously with my mental health although he is not a prescribed emotional support animal, he absolutely is mine. We love each other so incredibly much, and this last month has been completely heartbreaking for both of us. He has been through so much since the beginning of June, and it’s taken a huge toll on both of us. My job terminated me while I was in a hospitalization program, my husband is a Navy Vet who is in school full time on a GI bill. I just had back surgery a month ago and and still dealing with an incredible amount of chronic pain. My poor guy has been through the ringer since June 3rd. First diagnosed with ulcers in his GI tract, prescribed medicine to heal that, which did not help. June 14th he was then diagnosed with HGE and given medications. June 17th diagnosed with bloat and pancreatitis, was hospitalized with no improvement. June 19th referred to ER vet and had to endure surgery. Still not positive on what’s wrong. Apollo is my Velcro, house cow. He follows me everywhere. When I say everywhere l, I mean EVERYWHERE! He follows me to the bathroom, laundry room, closet, couch and if I walk in circles, he walks right next to me, just to be with me. He moos like a cow and howls at the top of the steps when I come home. He still chases his tail like a puppy and jumps on my shoulda to give me big hugs.

Blind, Brave, and Still Smiling: Help Buddy Get the Insulin That Keeps Him Alive

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

Buddy has been his mom's faithful companion since the very moment he entered the world. Now, after eight wonderful years together, this sweet Rat Terrier mix is facing the biggest challenge of his life. In April, Buddy was diagnosed with diabetes—a lifelong disease that requires daily insulin injections to keep him alive. After weeks of trial and error, glucose monitoring, and adjusting his treatment plan, Buddy is finally responding well to his medication. But staying healthy comes at a cost his family is struggling to afford. Buddy's ongoing medical care—including insulin, syringes, and regular glucose curve monitoring—costs approximately $156 every month. His devoted mom is hoping to raise $600 to help cover the next several months of the medication he depends on every single day. As if diabetes wasn't enough, Buddy has also recently lost his vision. Remarkably, he hasn't let it steal his joy. He still navigates his home with confidence, greets his mom with his signature smile, and continues to show the same gentle, loving spirit that has made him her "Champion" since he was a puppy. Buddy's story began the day his mom helped deliver him after rescuing his mother. They've been inseparable ever since. > "When I named him Buddy, I had no idea just how perfect that name would end up being. He's the sweetest guy you'd ever want to meet. I've always called him my Champion. He smiles so big sometimes I think he might actually laugh. He's compassionate, kind, and he is my world." > His mom has done everything she can to give Buddy the care he deserves, but the ongoing costs of managing diabetes have become overwhelming. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure Buddy never has to go without the insulin that keeps him healthy and by his mom's side. Your support will help provide the medication and monitoring he needs so they can continue making precious memories together. If you're unable to donate today, sharing Buddy's campaign can be just as meaningful. Together, we can help this brave little dog continue living the happy, love-filled life he deserves.

Levi — 270b84

Colorado Springs

Levi was a rescue cat and we adopted him and his brother. I was looking for a way to help my daughter, who is autistic, come out of her shell. He has been such a positive influence in her life that she can now live independently. He is the sweetest little boy with gorgeous eyes. He is a big snuggle bug! As I said my daughter is autistic and Levi means the world to her. She has ensured that he has the best food and that he goes to the vet regularly. He is sweet to all of the cats and he loves to snuggle with his brother if he isn't sitting in my daughter's lap. He has a cat tree that he loved to use until he hurt his leg. Well the pandemic has thrown a twist on our finances. My daughter works minimum wage and I have lost my job. I am a single mom with 4 children who are all in college. Levi hurt his legs a few years ago and the vet said that he needed to rest for 6 weeks and shouldn't use his leg. Since then his leg occasionally bothers him, but it wasn't until he jumped off the couch and landed wrong that he had to immediately go to his vet and they discovered he needed surgery. He is being treated at the University Veterinarian Hospital and Diagnostic Center. Levi loves to snuggle and climb on your shoulders. He tries to take off my daughter's glasses and lays down to eat with his paws. He picks up each individual piece of food and places it in his mouth. Levi also loves to take jewelry and hide it. He is very much like the Niffler from Harry Potters Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.

Attacked and Injured: Billo Needs a Metal Plate to Walk Again

Sherman Oaks, CA • Death Row Dogs Rescue

Billo's life changed in an instant. This sweet boy was attacked by a large neighborhood terrier, suffering a devastating fracture to his leg. His family rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital, hoping to get him the help he desperately needed. Unfortunately, the cost of the necessary surgery was far beyond what they could afford. That's when Death Row Dogs Rescue stepped in. Billo was surrendered into our care so he could receive the lifesaving medical treatment he needs. He is currently safe with one of our temporary medical fosters, where he is receiving love, comfort, and around the clock care while we work to save his leg. After being evaluated by our veterinarian and having X-rays performed, we learned that Billo's injury is severe. To properly heal the fractured bone and give him the best chance at a normal, pain free life, he requires orthopedic surgery to place a metal plate on the bone. Without this procedure, the injury may not heal correctly, and amputation could become the only option. Billo has already been through so much. He deserves the chance to run, play, and live the happy life every dog deserves. We are asking for your help to raise funds for his surgery and recovery. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Billo's medical care, including his surgery, follow-up appointments, medications, and rehabilitation. Please help us save Billo's leg and give him a second chance.

Newcastle, WA

Kobah was a gift four years ago to our children. He is the only pet we have and is very loved. We have had kobah since he was a small baby. Kobah is such a sweet living dog. Kobah loves to sleep in the middle of the couch on top of all the pillows being able to see outside. He is super loving when we go on walks he is super attentive to where the kids are walking and trying to keep them safe and close to him. He loves to play tug a war and also like to sit in the couch when the kids play Xbox. Kobah loved to play with squeak toys. His favorite toy right now is a small dinosaur. He loves to sit in front of our back door and look at the squirrels walking around out patio fence. He loves to run up hills and catch his toys. Kobah was currently seen at his vets for a spider bite; due to the bite his bite became infected and necrotic. His infection was spreading and draining he needed to be transferred to a vet hospital to receive a blood transfusion and leg debridement to clear out his infection. Kobah is currently at the hospital under supervision and trying to make sure the infected area stays healthy. This injury was so sudden that we were able to pay for some of his care but this was so unexpected is has become a financial struggle/ stress to try and help out dog come back home and return to his old happy loving self.

Tootsie

Tootsie is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

When Tootsie was saved by Little Paws Dachshund Rescue, the stakes were high. The sweet girl was a medical mess! And Tootsie was part of a bonded pair; her adoring other half, Snickers, would have been heartbroken to lose his best pal. "Tootsie came to Little Paws with her mate, Snickers," Julie J., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "Both had been medically neglected for years; Tootsie, however, has been most affected. Because she was never spayed, she came to us with a large mammary tumor that was cancerous. The tumor was removed at the time of her spay. Tootsie developed a very serious infection at her abdominal incision site." On top of all that, Tootsie also required dental surgery because she had horrible teeth and needs heartworm treatment. Her medical team at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Gaithersburg, MD, takes great care of her. Little Paws is an East Coast-based nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Dachshund and Dachshund mixes, and the organization depends on donations to help dogs with medical needs. The good news is that Tootsie is becoming more mobile and is getting stronger. When she was rescued, her foster mom had to hand feed her, but now she can eat on her own. The plan is to continue her wound care treatment, and once she has healed enough, her veterinarian can begin treating her heartworm. With your help, Tootsie's future will be brighter. And that not only makes the rescue happy, Tootsie, Snickers, and their foster mom will be thrilled too! "Tootsie adores her mate, Snickers, and looks to her for comfort," Julie says. "She is a total sweetheart and just wants to be loved back. Our goal as a rescue is to show Tootsie the care she deserves and prepare her for a forever family that will continue her journey of love and happiness."
