Daisy

Daisy is a 4 year old Border Collie in Mesa, AZ, who needs $1,000 for Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia treatment.

Mesa, AZ

Daisy was adopted by my mother and father as a gift to my little sister. Shortly after, she suffered from a broken pelvic bone and a fractured knee after being hit by a truck. I paid the medical expenses and took care of her while on kennel rest. Divorce caused my mother to move away, and my father passed. Daisy has since been in my care for three years and she is about four years old. Daisy was diagnosed with IMHA a little over a month ago. A life-threatening disease that causes the body to destroy itself. I have been to Las Sendas Animal Hospital 1-3 times a week doing everything in my power to make Daisy well again. This journey has been an extreme rollercoaster, and while Dr. Peachy and Dr. Muro have been amazing, her treatment now calls for an internal medicine specialist. Daisy loves on everyone with her cuddles and kisses. She brightens the room with her energetic loving personality. Daisy LIVES for fetch she will play as long as you allow even in this lovely Arizona heat. Daisy loves to go on hikes with me but not the lake (she wants you to know the water is evil). I call her Crazy Daisy but despite this, she is a breath of heaven. My breath of heaven. I am a special education teacher but rely on waitressing. In the midst of this crisis, I was fired from the restaurant, so I've been donating plasma for extra money. I am in debt from blood work, tick panels, x-rays, medications, and weekly blood tests. I feel at a loss.

Daisy

Daisy is a 6 year old Golden Retriever in Boardman, OH, who needs $1,000 for Spay and Mastectomy.

Boardman, OH

Daisy was a foster to adopt. She had 6 puppies before she was a year old. Breeder didn’t have time for her. She came to us with Heartworm and Lyme Disease-Which the breeder didn’t pay for-We did. She was emaciated and starving. Once she was healthy enough to breed again, she had 10 more puppies. After 6 weeks-She came back to us emaciated, lethargic, had bed sores and was 43 lbs. Our veterinarian said we should take her to the ER right away. She received fluids and both our veterinarian and the ER Veterinarian stated she should not breed again. When it came time and she began her next heat, we decided that she was not going back to the breeder to breed anymore. We chose Daisy’s life. The breeder than sued us for $20,000 for breach of contract. After 5 years of mediations, zoom calls, court appointments-Daisy is finally ours. We were never allowed to spay her due to the contract. Now we are. We took her to our vet, and with her age she needs to be spayed sooner than later. She also has to have a mastectomy on one of her mammary glands due to the vet finding “seeds” in it. Daisy is our baby. We cannot have human children-She’s our world. We have maxed out our Care Credit card and with all the legal fees-We just can’t afford this surgery. I will do anything for her. She’s the sweetest, calmest dog I’ve ever had. She truly is the light in our lives!!

No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten

No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten - Max’s Helping Paws Foundation in Carmel, CA, needs $2,000 for Emergency Medical Aid for Dogs & Their Families!

Carmel, CA • Max's Helping Paws Foundation

Max’s Helping Paws Foundation Financial stress on all pet families is enormous and growing. This leads to economic euthanasia, surrender of loved pets to local shelters, or pets not receiving necessary care. Families suffer emotional stress, loss of companionship, and sometimes loss of family cohesion as a pet departs and it's people cope with grief, a sense of guilt, and bills. Max’s Helping Paws strongly believes money should not stand in the way of any pet receiving veterinary care in an emergency. Funding from the DOGust competition would support Max’s Helping Paws campaign, “No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten.” We keep dogs with their families by providing financial lifelines to qualified low-income owners with a dog experiencing a health crisis. We define a health crisis as anything urgent, emergent, necessary and unexpected, eminently requiring veterinary attention. We do not assist with preventative care, and focus on support for acute or chronic illnesses or injuries. In 2023, over 70% of the pets we assisted, were dogs. To seek assistance from Max's Helping Paws, owners apply online providing proof of need and proof of residency in Monterey County. We work with all 32 animal clinics in Monterey County. “No Dog Suffers, No Family Forgotten” will contribute directly to veterinary payments for Max’s Helping Paws canine beneficiaries. This campaign is reflective of our mission to keep dogs out of shelters, alive and home with their people. For 8 years we’ve never denied assistance to an eligible family with a dog in crisis. We serve as a vital resource for intake diversion. We have established relationships with local shelters, veterinary clinics, humane societies, the local SPCA and rescues to ensure we are the first resource when surrender or euthanasia become a possibility solely because of a family’s financial hardship. A dog shouldn’t suffer and a family shouldn’t lose them because of financial hardship. This project will contribute to our ability to continue to say YES to every qualified family and dog in need. The DOGust competition funding would support our mission to keep these dogs with their families, right where they belong. This campaign means a lot to all of us at Max’s Helping Paws, as a small organization making an enormous impact on dogs in need, we are often overlooked. Often in animal welfare, many people initially think rescue, adopt and foster. Coming at over population in our shelters and economic euthanasia from a different angle can be a difficult mission to get across. It is critical to continue bringing awareness and different solutions that can keep dogs with their families. Together, we are all making an impact! Mission: The mission of Max’s Helping Paws is to reduce pet suffering, shelter overflow and economic euthanasia by providing financial lifelines to qualified pet owners in Monterey County facing urgent, emergent and unexpected veterinary expenses.

Ralphie

Ralphie is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Kettering, , who needs $2,000 for TDL and Parotidectomy.

Kettering

Ralphie came in my life at a very crucial time. After the passing of my dad & cat 3months later, Ralphie, has been my rock during all hard times. We brought his sister home 2weeks later knowing Ralphie would be happier and healthier with a playmate. They have such a strong bond. Always loving, cleaning, cuddling, and playing. Ralph had the name when we got him. I thought it fit perfect, so kept it Ralphie, has a medical condition that requires surgery. He was Diagnosed with idiopathic Chylothorax on June 14. He has endured 7 needle taps to both of his lungs to remove the fluid. He has had CT stand, x-rays, bloodwork, ultrasound, and seen cardiologist. That has said he needs to have surgery ASAP because needle taps are causing scoring to his lungs. OSU vet plans on doing the surgery August12 Ralphie has such a strong bond with his whole family. He loves his sister from his same litter. He runs to me when I come home to give me love. He cuddles with me every night. He loves bathwater and going outside playing with bugs (indoor cat). He loves my son and always loves rubbing on his legs and getting padding from him. Some nights, he takes his paws and knocks on my sons door to cuddle him He means the world to my family and I. Our hearts have been crushed since 6/14. I have spent my savings & maxed out my credit on chest taps and test. Now he’s needing surgery and I’m in a hole. Your help could save Ralph, and would mean the world to him and his family.
