Twinkles came to the rescue after he got hungry and walked into the trap that one of our volunteers had set. He was about three months old at the time, and needed quite a bit of socializing, but we were up to the task. Within a week he was snuggled up in his fosters arms, and it was no more than a month later that he was ready for his forever home. From feral to adoptable!!! Twinkles is such a sweet boy. He spends most of his time with his foster sister, Stardust. He lives in a home with an elderly woman and her mother, so he gets a LOT of lap time and pets, and he has come to enjoy his life there. Of course we want him to find a forever home, but in the meantime he’s so very loved, and even therapeutic!! We are a small 501c3 rescue that is just getting our feet under us, and it has been a rough couple of months. We’ve had a few cats that have needed extra attention and we just can’t turn our backs on them. We don’t know what is wrong with Twinkles. Our veterinarian has run tests and he has been hospitalized for two days, and he is just not getting better. He is scheduled to be hospitalized for at least four more days with more tests being run so we can find out what exactly is wrong. This is the hard part when they can’t tell you exactly what it is that is hurting them. Twinkles had to be taught to play with toys, but now he absolutely looooves his orange ball tower and will spend hours with Stardust playing with it and crinkle balls. He will even slip into his foster grandma’s lap when she’s having an off Alzheimer’s day and spend as much time as he can bring idly stroked. It has been therapeutic for them both!!

Menkhol’s Fight Isn’t Over, But His Life Is Just Beginning

For almost four years, APC has cared for the dogs of Karantina. They know the packs, their territories, and the faces of the dogs who wait for them each week. But they had never seen Menkhol before. He was a stranger in unfamiliar territory. He was confused, defenseless, and surrounded by established packs of highly territorial dogs. And they attacked him viciously. Menkhol’s entire body was covered in wounds. His skin had been torn and bitten in multiple places, and he had lost so much blood that his glucose dropped to a dangerously low level. When rescuers found him, he was battered, bleeding, and fighting to survive. His odds looked scary, but APC stepped in just in time Thankfully, Menkhol does not currently need a blood transfusion. But his battle is far from over. His wounds require extensive treatment, and his fragile body must recover from the blood loss and trauma. He will need continued veterinary care before he can begin to heal. And one heartbreaking question remains: Who left Menkhol there? 😞 Karantina was never a safe place for a dog unfamiliar with the packs. Yet somehow, Menkhol ended up there and when he needed someone most, APC refused to leave him behind. Maurice Just Got His Second Chance. Now He Needs Surgery.

Maurice's story is only beginning. Just hours ago, this sweet dog was sitting at Burlington Animal Shelter in North Carolina with a ruptured left eye. We don't know what happened to him yet. We don't know how long he had been hurting, where he came from, or what his life looked like before he ended up at the shelter. And honestly, right now, that's okay. What we do know is that Maurice was scared, injured, and in need of someone to step in. Little Blue Tattoos did. Maurice has now been rescued from the shelter, and his next step is an appointment with a veterinarian in Apex, NC. He is scheduled for an enucleation surgery Tuesday to remove his ruptured eye and give him the chance to heal. A ruptured eye is a serious injury and can be extremely painful. After everything Maurice has already been through, he deserves to wake up without that source of pain and discomfort. And his medical needs don't stop with his eye. Maurice has also tested positive for heartworm disease and will need treatment once his veterinary team determines the appropriate course of care. Between his surgery, medications, follow-up care, and heartworm treatment, Maurice has a long road ahead of him. But rescue doesn't end when a dog walks out of the shelter. It is just the beginning. Now Maurice needs medical care, surgery, heartworm treatment, and a safe place to recover. And because he was rescued so recently, we are still learning about him. As he settles in and receives veterinary care, we hope to learn more about his condition, his personality, and the life he had before rescue. For now, we know one thing for certain: Maurice is safe. Vanilla was rescued from the streets of Cairo, Egypt, after being found with a devastating injury to her head. Her wounds are extensive, and veterinarians believe they are consistent with an axe attack. Vanilla is now safe under the care of Stray Dog Support and their partner. One of her caretakers brought her some yummy yoghurt and chicken. And despite everything she has been through, she happily ate it. It may seem like a small thing, but for Vanilla, every meal and every day of healing is a victory. They are still waiting for her blood test results. In the meantime, she is resting, receiving medication and daily wound care, and slowly beginning to heal. Her recovery will be long. Her wound will take time, patience, and extensive care. Dexter survived severe abuse, including fireworks shot at him, before trusting me completely. Now he is my loyal road dog who loves car rides and Walmart runs. He has a wild sense of humor, often mocking my own medical issues by faking a limp. He even jokes that the vet is fitting him with doggy dentures so he can rock a full Chris Hemsworth smile. Dexter has severe dental disease causing bone loss between his mouth and nasal passage, risking an oronasal fistula that triggers pain and constant sneezing. Paws N' Hooves Mobile Veterinary Services scheduled senior bloodwork, full-mouth radiographs, oral nerve blocks, and extractions with laser therapy to close the damage. The surgical estimate is $1,511.00. Dexter has been my steady partner through every personal and physical challenge. I got precious as a Christmas gift in 2025. She has become a member of our family. She is spunky and loves to run and play. She is attached to me and loves to do everything with me. She loves nature and chew toys. She is 9 months old and full of life. Precious was hit by a car Friday 9/4/26. She has a fractured pelvis and her hip popped completely out. It turns out she has a congenital hip problem where the socket didn’t fully form. She will need a recommendation of double FHO surgery to help her not be in pain and keep her injured hip in place. She is bruised and swollen. My pet is my friend. I’m her emotional support and she is mine. We love each other and it breaks my heart that she is in this situation. I would love to give her a chance at a full life. There would be a hole in my heart and a missing member of our family if she had to go. Her recovery matters to us because she brings joy to our lives. We enjoy watching her play and grow. She has a wonderful personality and she is very loving The surgery was priced at 4,000 and my family cannot afford that price. I have been denied for scratch pay and care credit. I don’t know any vets that would help with a payment plan. If I can’t get the help then to reduce her pain and less mobility, she would most likely be euthanized.

Millie is the sweetest girl! She loves to run around our backyard and roll in grass. She always finds the silliest places to lay down and loves bath time! Millie is currently fighting for her life after being attacked by a foster dog who had terminal cancer. She has multiple deep lacerations all over her ears, neck, and legs. She needs surgery and my mom is struggling with paying the bills. Millie and her sister marvel were born on the day our dad/grandpa passed away and has brought so much joy into our lives. She is the light of our lives and the sweetest girl. My mom is currently undergoing multiple heath issues being treated in the cleveland clinic, due to this she has been out of work.

Romeo is a much-loved member of our family and has been with us through many years of life on Maui. He is affectionate and gentle and shares his life with our other dog, Rumba. Romeo and Rumba are inseparable and keep each other company every day. He is also very loved by our little boy, Cyan, who has grown up with Romeo as part of his family. Romeo has been diagnosed with cutaneous hemangiosarcoma, a cancer affecting the blood vessels of the skin. Our veterinarian at Makawao Veterinary Clinic recommends surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery has not yet been performed, and the estimated cost is approximately $2,000. Romeo isn't simply our dog; he's part of our family. He and Rumba have a very special bond and are almost always together, and our little boy Cyan absolutely loves him. Romeo has given our family years of companionship and affection, and we want to do everything we can to give him the care he needs now. Romeo's surgery will cost approximately $2,000, a significant unexpected expense for our family. I've contacted Maui Humane Society and applied to several veterinary assistance programs but haven't been able to secure funding. I'm reaching out to the community for help getting Romeo the surgery he needs.
