Blackjack "Jack" came into my life at 2 months old when his mom (a neighborhood stray cat) dropped him off at my neighbor's house and the rest is history almost 14 years later. As an all black cat, I wanted to name him something appropriate and a friend mentioned Blackjack and it stuck. Jack does enjoy being out on a leash to be able to see the neighborhood and eat grass. Jack was recently diagnosed with cancer - acromegaly or a pituitary tumor on his brain - along with diabetes, kidney disease, and arthritis. His body is rejecting his second type of insulin due to the tumor and its a challenge to manage his diabetes and kidney disease since the tumor is blocking normal signals. The treatment is radiation therapy to address the tumor. Jack is definitely a talker and consistently lets me know how he is feeling. He loves to walk on the leash even with his arthritis somewhat slowing him down at times. He is also a cuddle bug and will rub his head on your head to check you out and make sure you are ok. He tolerates his younger sisters (one feline, one human) as he is the only male in the house. As a single mom to a human toddler and two cats, bills have piled up, especially Jack's vet bills before the acromegaly diagnosis when it was just diabetes. Jack is still very active and definitely not ready to succumb to these diseases with lots of life left.

She was born in the backyard of one of my customers. At about two weeks old, she moved them all into the bathtub with her mother and at about five weeks old, I adopted two of them. Solid orange tabby and one was a boy and one was a girl. She has been the most lovable, playful kitten, and is in big need of our help. I love her so much Sure went to Robertson County Clinic today and they did an x-ray. There’s a blockage in her stomach. She’s been vomiting for days and hasn’t eaten. she can’t go to the bathroom. She is lethargic and down. The doctor says that there is a small blockage in her stomach but can’t tell what it is. She needs emergency surgery or will be put down. $3k all upfront. I cannot afford it for a couple weeks. She is the sweetest, most hilarious kitten I’ve ever had. She’s full of energy and is constantly climbing, jumping and knocking things off the counter. She’s a trip. She jumps onto our shoulders as we walk by and gives kisses. She has a twin brother and they are always together, either playing or cuddling. She’s just a doll. There’s so much life in her. She’s got a golden soul. Just a good girl I started a new job. A week withheld. I don’t get paid until the 20th. I gave all I had for appt today and still had to borrow some. If I could make payments, it’d be no problem. If it was just 2 weeks later, no problems. But it’s now and I don’t have it. Our rescue pulled Tay from the PG county shelter in VA where there is Breed Specific Legislation. Dogs deemed "pit bull type dogs" are considered illegal and are ineligible for adoption. They can only leave the shelter through a 503c rescue organization and fostered in a home outside of the county. Tay had only been in a foster home for a few days before becoming sick. After a week in a foster home, he began throwing up and was admitted to the hospital. Tay was also exposed to Parvo at the shelter. He is now fighting for his life at the Metropolitan Animal Center. He is an affectionate, playful dog. He deserves a chance to show his true personality in a home of his own. Tay is a young dog with a playful spirit. His ears go up, down, sideways, together and sometimes do their own thing! He is incredibly expressive and communicates a lot through his ears. His tail never stops wagging and he loves to roll over for belly rubs. He did great meeting other dog and kept a relaxed, wagging body. Tay has endured an exploratory surgery bc his imaging (X-rays) suggested an obstruction. He tested positive from Parvo at that time. He has been fighting for his life in the Metropolitan Animal Center under 24 hour supportive care for several days. Tay has a feeding tube as he is not eating. They have attempted a fecal transplant and we are anxiously waiting to see if the treatment is working. Tay's obstruction surgery, 24/7 hospital care and fecal transplant has bankrupted our reserve funds. We are having to ask other vets for an extension to pay our other bills. We do not want to have to make a decision for Tay's life based on available funds. Please help us.

This stunning young Persian cat was abandoned on the streets of Egypt, where life for a defenseless pet can be unimaginably harsh. Instead of finding kindness, Arthur became the victim of abuse. By the time rescuers found him, he was suffering from devastating injuries that left him in constant pain. Arthur has a broken jaw that makes it difficult and painful for him to eat, and one of his eyes has been so severely damaged that it has ruptured. Both injuries require surgery to relieve his pain and give him the chance to heal. Despite everything he has endured, Arthur has never stopped trusting people. He greets his caregivers with gentle affection, leans into every pet, and purrs as though he still believes that humans can be kind. His sweet personality shines through every moment, reminding everyone who meets him that his spirit remains unbroken, even though his body has suffered so much. Arthur deserves more than survival. He deserves to eat without pain, to recover from his injuries, and to experience what every young cat should know—a safe home filled with love instead of fear. Zara is a 7-year-old German Shepherd with a heart as big as she is, and right now, she needs our help. Zara came to us through UNSEEN | UNHEARD | UNBROKEN Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Florida, when her owner reached out seeking help rehoming her. Before we could move forward with placement, we noticed something that couldn't be ignored, a large visible mass that required immediate attention. We made the decision that no dog leaves our care unexamined. We took Zara to Purrfect Paws & Claws Veterinary Hospital in Leesburg, Florida, where Dr. Anne Valdes confirmed what we feared, a large mammary mass, ulcerated and actively growing, requiring immediate surgical intervention. Dr. Valdes generously waived her examination fee for Zara's initial visit. UNSEEN | UNHEARD | UNBROKEN Inc. covered the cost of her medications using donated funds from our community. This case has already been a community effort, and we are grateful for every person who has stepped up so far. Her veterinarian has recommended mammary mass removal, a spay, chest X-rays, and lab analysis to determine the nature of the mass and whether it has spread. The total estimated cost is $2,696.00. Sweet Parmesan has already beaten the odds. After leaving the overcrowded Downey Shelter in Southern California before being considered for euthanasia, this tiny senior Maltese finally found safety with Bichon Rescue Brigade. But while he escaped the shelter, his journey to good health was only beginning. Parmesan arrived with multiple serious medical concerns, including a heart murmur, severe vision impairment, painful dental disease, anemia, electrolyte imbalances, and chronic dry eye disease. Despite everything he’d endured, his gentle, loving personality never wavered. Everyone who meets him says the same thing— he is unbelievably sweet. His veterinary team immediately got to work. Parm has been diagnosed with immune-mediated dry eye, a lifelong condition that will require daily medication to keep him comfortable. Parmesan also underwent dental surgery to give him a fresh start. Years of advanced periodontal disease had caused severe gum recession, and veterinarians had no choice but to remove six painful teeth to relieve his suffering. Although his surgeries went well, there are still challenges ahead. Veterinarians have confirmed that Parmesan has no vision, and he will need ongoing monitoring of his eyes, repeat bloodwork to evaluate mildly elevated liver enzymes, lifelong eye medication, and continued follow-up care as he adjusts to his new life. So far, Parmesan’s medical care has already exceeded $1,200, and his journey isn’t over yet. After everything he’s been through, Parmesan deserves the chance to spend his golden years free from pain, surrounded by love instead of uncertainty. Shortly after another rescue dog was brought into care for safety, an unexpected accident occurred and Melissa suffered serious dog bite injuries that required emergency medical treatment. Melissa was rushed immediately to Kendall Point Animal Hospital in Miami, where she began intensive care for her wounds. She is expected to require surgery along with ongoing treatment and recovery support. The estimated cost for Melissa’s emergency care is up to $8,500, an overwhelming burden for a rescue already managing multiple urgent medical cases. But Melissa is more than a medical case. She is a sweet young dog with so much life ahead of her. Even while recovering, Melissa continues to show gentle resilience as she fights to heal. Her veterinary team is encouraged by the progress she has made so far, even though her healing journey is still ongoing. She still requires continued wound care, follow-up treatment, and close monitoring to ensure her injuries continue healing properly. While this was a major milestone, her treatment journey is not over yet. Melissa was originally facing the possibility of losing her leg, but her rescue has been committed to exploring every option to save it. These surgeries are being done to give Melissa the best chance at keeping her leg and improving her quality of life. Unfortunately, the final procedure cannot happen just yet. Before Melissa can undergo her arthrodesis (joint fusion), the areas where the fixators were removed need time to heal. Her veterinary team also needs to ensure she is free from infection before moving forward with the next step of treatment. Melissa still has another major surgery ahead of her, and her rescue continues to stand by her through every challenge. This has been a long and difficult process, but each step brings Melissa closer to the outcome everyone is fighting for. Boston's dad Billy was escaping the darkest of times when they met and saved each other. Billy poured all his love into Boston from day one with trips to the river, lots of movies and SO many treats. When our families blended, Boston got even more friends, outings and fun, plus two brothers who adore him. We lost Billy in May, but Boston is a piece of his heart that he left here with us. Boston was playing in our yard with his young canine cousin, took a funny step, yelped and wouldn't put his paw down. His vet, Dr. Jones, at Northwind Animal Hospital in Cub Hill, MD confirmed that it was a CCL rupture. He has a pretty cool brace on both legs to support the joints, but he needs surgery to repair the ligament. Boston is our soul dog. He is a very obedient guy, but if you leave him alone sometimes he will get naughty and counter surf. Nobody is perfect! He loves nature, hates fireworks and thunderstorms and waits at the front door for the chance to go ANYWHERE... so we take him EVERYWHERE. His favorites are Sam's baseball games, dropping Max off at school and trips to Home Depot. There aren't words to describe how hard the last few months have been and I hadn't gotten insurance for my sweet friend yet. This is an injury we weren't ready for and an expense we weren't ready for. This family has lost too much already. We need Boston in every way.

I found Tombo in the middle of a busy road crawling on 8/22. I thought he was just scared by the oncoming traffic while crossing, but when I stopped to help, I noticed he was dragging his back legs. I took him straight to my vet, and found out he was a stray. The sad news is after the X-ray, it shows that his hip is broken in 3 parts and needs to be taken to a special clinic for hip surgery. After scheduling with the special clinic, Tombo spent two nights with us. once he was fed and taken painkillers, he was eager to explore, disregarding how he couldn’t put any weight on his legs. His purring would resonate throughout the room when I petted him and fed him. Me and my roommate fell in love with him right away, we have to save him. He has a strong fighting spirit, yet cries out at night when he’s feeling lonely. I see the little explorer in him, he's also very calm when my dog tries to see him. Even though we only met for 2 days, I wanted to provide him with a life and a safe home Tombo is a stray who got into a hit-and-run, and I want to save his life. I took him to LVVSC, the doctor estimated Tombo’s age to be around 4-5 months because his growth plate was still there. The doctor will put screws to attach the broken parts, given the age, he expects him to have a full recovery The special surgery isn’t cheap, it is almost 5k, we need this surgery, he can’t heal on his own. I’m using my emergency funds to save his life, and I believe it’s the right thing to do. Tombo is still a baby, and I want to provide him with the life he deserves
