Cash

Help Cash get right hind leg amputation — Norman, OK

Norman, OK

We adopted Cash from a coworker whose dog had an unexpected litter. Cash was the last unadopted puppy, and already a big boy, when we brought him home around 4-5 months. He was immediately a fear member of the family. My daughters have both grown up with him. He's gentle despite his large size and so tolerant of the kids and our elderly cat. He is an excellent companion to me on walks, hikes, camping trips, and at home. He is a quiet boy who only seems to make noise if an unfamiliar footstep approaches our home--but boy what a noise he makes then! He loves other dogs and the dog park. He is a favorite at the vet and the kennel when we must go out of town without him. He's not ready, and we're not ready, for his time with us to be over. Cash developed a fast growing spindle cell sarcoma on his right back leg over the past 90 days. He is otherwise in good health and spirits. X-rays have shown no metastasis or bone involvement but the vet recommends amputation to get the sarcoma out with clean enough margins to reduce the chance of recurrence. His prognosis with this surgery is very good! My daughters are 12 and 10, so they have had Cash in their lives for all of their memories (9 years). My youngest especially is deeply connected to him and to all dogs. Her favorite part of every event is all the dogs she got to meet, but her favorite dog of all is our Cash. I love that Cash is game for anything we want to do-a jog, a slow walk, a swim, a cuddle, a romp in the rare Oklahoma snow. Several years have been financially tough on our family: student loans, medical bills, car & home repairs all eat in to our thin budget. Even though my husband & I both work hard, a surgery that is more expensive than our mortgage is a hurdle we are struggling to overcome.

Gordo’s Adventures Are Over. He Needs Help Finding Stability.

Martinez, CA • Pip’s Rescue Pack

For years, Gordo was known as the neighborhood escape artist. This big, lovable guy would regularly find his way out of his yard, and each time someone found him, his owner wanted him back. When Gordo was found again this year, a longer conversation finally led to a decision that changed his life: his owner finally agreed to surrender him to PiP’s Rescue Pack. At around 8½ years old, Gordo should be settling into his golden years surrounded by comfort and care. Instead, we’ve discovered that he has some catching up to do. Gordo is heartworm positive, and he’s now beginning treatment. We also discovered a large mass on his upper back/neck that needs to be surgically removed and sent for histology to determine whether it’s cancerous. His neuter, vaccines, and microchip have already been taken care of, but these unexpected medical needs have brought his expenses to approximately $1,300. Pip’s Rescue Pack is committed to getting him all the care he needs and no matter the cost they will get it done. They need help to ensure future animals can be helped and get their forever families After spending so much of his life wandering, Gordo finally has a safe place to call home. ❤️ Now we want to make sure he gets the medical care he deserves, too. Will you help Gordo leave his days of wandering behind and start his next chapter healthy, safe, and loved?

CLOCK IS TICKING: Crushed By Fast-Moving Train, This Pup Clings To Dear Life As She Waits For Life-Saving Amputation Surgery…

Pawsitive Sanctuary Inc

Raani experienced a horrific accident no dog should ever have to face… This pup was rescued from a railway maintenance yard after being struck by an oncoming train, leaving her with a crushed paw, traumatized bones and tissue, and crying for help. She may have miraculously survived, but now she needs life-saving amputation surgery if she ever wants to have a bright future. Raani needs emergency surgery NOW. Raani had been trying to get by on whatever she could find at this railway maintenance yard. That desperate search led her too close to the tracks, causing her to become the victim of a devastating train accident. When our team finally found her, aching and bleeding out on cold concrete, we saw her paw had been completely destroyed. When we brought her in for further examination, a harsher truth became apparent. Her leg was completely broken, with her tissue and bone severely traumatized. Our veterinary team told us point-blank: the limb cannot be saved, and without amputation, Raani faces the risk of a fatal infection setting in… Raani needs this surgery immediately. There is no time to wait, every day without treatment increases her risk of infection and prolongs her suffering. Sadly, rising costs for medical supplies and treatment make this surgery extremely expensive and beyond our means. But we cannot let this be the end of her story. Raani had no one to take care of her or prevent her from almost losing her life. It's time for us to step up and be there for her. Please consider donating toward Raani's life-saving amputation surgery. Every contribution brings her closer to relief from her pain and a real chance at recovery. We will keep you updated as her journey continues. Thank you.

Peeta

Help Peeta Through His Second Cleft Palate Surgery

Tampa, FL • Rags to Riches Animal Rescue Inc

Peeta has been fighting medical challenges since he was only days old, but more than a year later, one of the problems everyone hoped he had outgrown has come back to affect him in a serious way. Peeta came to Rags to Riches as a tiny newborn after his mother wouldn't feed him. His brother sadly passed away shortly after birth, leaving little Peeta dependent on his foster family to give him the chance to grow. Within his first few weeks of life, his rescuers discovered that Peeta had a small opening in his palate, known as a cleft palate. Because the opening was so tiny and similar cases they had cared for had closed naturally as the puppies grew, everyone hoped Peeta's would do the same. And for a while, it seemed like it had. Peeta still faced other medical challenges during puppyhood. He experienced neurological symptoms and frightening episodes of dangerously low blood sugar that sometimes resulted in seizures. His rescue worked closely with veterinarians, sought emergency care when necessary, and kept him under careful supervision while trying to understand what his little body was going through. Eventually, the episodes subsided, and his cleft appeared to have completely closed. Then, more than a year after Peeta was born, something suddenly changed. He began struggling to eat. At times, trying to eat would send him into respiratory distress, and his rescuers worried that it felt as though he was suffocating whenever food entered the opening in his palate. Further examination revealed that although Peeta's cleft had appeared closed, a very small opening was still present between his mouth and nasal passage. A catheter passed through his nose was able to emerge through the opening, confirming the problem. For the first time in all of the cleft palate puppies his rescue had cared for, waiting for natural closure was no longer enough. Peeta needed surgery. Veterinarians surgically closed the opening in hopes of allowing him to eat more comfortably without food entering an area where it didn't belong. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of Peeta's journey. When the problem continued, Peeta was brought in for another surgery, with the hope that a more extensive repair would finally close the cleft for good. Through everything, this little guy continues to fight. Following surgery, Peeta's rescue is hoping that the second time will be the charm and that he can finally put this painful and frightening problem behind him. His veterinary care has already included extensive diagnostics, imaging, sedation, anesthesia, surgery, dental care, medications, and follow-up treatment, with nearly $2,000 in documented veterinary expenses already and additional surgical care now added to his journey. Peeta has spent his entire life surrounded by people determined to give him every chance possible. Now his rescue desperately needs some help covering the medical care it has taken to get him this far. Please consider donating to Peeta's Waggle campaign to help with the cost of his cleft palate surgeries and continued recovery. His second surgery may be behind him, but he still needs time to heal and make sure this repair finally allows him to eat comfortably and safely. Every donation helps his rescue continue giving Peeta the care he has needed since he was just a tiny newborn.

Elsie James

Help Elsie James get Major tooth extractions, dental nerve block, — Grover Beach, CA

Grover Beach, CA

Meet Sweet Elsie Elsie James is a 14-year-old Maltipoo who brings endless warmth and joy to everyone she meets. Her favorite place in the world is held snugly in her mommy’s arms, getting a full-body rubdown, or riding shotgun in the car with the wind in her fur. At 14, she is still full of love, but right now, she is suffering silently and needs urgent help. During a recent checkup, Elsie was diagnosed with severe periodontitis and gum disease. She has an active infection, a painful abscess, and several broken and missing teeth. Every bite of food and every movement of her mouth causes her significant pain. To relieve her suffering and prevent the infection from spreading, Dr. Laura Such at VCA South County Animal Hospital has determined that Elsie needs immediate oral surgery. Her recommended treatment plan includes a comprehensive dental evaluation, full-mouth dental X-rays, local nerve blocks, major tooth extractions, IV fluids, dedicated anesthesia, and in-hospital pain management to ensure she recovers safely. Elsie has been a loving companion through every season of life over the last 14 years. The bond we share is built on years of unconditional love, comfort, and shared moments. Seeing her in pain from severe dental disease and an abscess breaks our hearts because she relies on us completely to protect her. Getting her this surgery isn't just about fixing her teeth; it's about restoring her comfort, letting her eat without pain, and giving her back the happy, peaceful quality of life she deserves for the rest of her senior years. We love Elsie with all our hearts, and as a 14-year-old senior dog, she relies on us completely to keep her safe, happy, and healthy. Finding out that she is in severe pain from periodontitis, broken teeth, and an active abscess was devastating. Knowing that every single day she goes without treatment means another day of suffering makes getting her this surgery our absolute top priority. However, veterinary specialty procedures and senior dental surgeries are a major unexpected expense. With her total treatment plan coming out to $2,221.80–$2,777.25 at VCA South County Animal Hospital, the cost has unfortunately exceeded what our family can manage on our own right now. As much as we wish we could cover every penny out of pocket, we have hit a financial wall where we simply cannot bridge the gap without help.
