Saved Once, Fighting Again: Help Gracie Get the Surgery That Could Save Her Life

Wakefield, MA • Paws 4 A Cure

Five years ago, Gracie's future looked uncertain. Sitting in an overcrowded California shelter with no adoption interest, this shy and timid Doberman was scheduled to be euthanized. Then everything changed. A loving family opened their hearts and gave Gracie the second chance she deserved. Today, Gracie is facing another fight for her life. Gracie's parents rushed her to the emergency hospital after she developed a loss of appetite and bloody stool. After extensive testing, including radiographs, ultrasounds, bloodwork, and a CT scan, veterinarians discovered an intestinal mass. The diagnosis was devastating, and the treatment plan even more so. Surgery is Gracie's only chance for survival. The life-saving procedure is estimated to cost $10,000—an overwhelming expense for a family already facing financial hardship. Thankfully, Paws 4 A Cure has stepped in with a $400 grant, but Gracie still needs additional support to move forward with the care she desperately needs. Despite everything she has endured, Gracie remains the sweet, playful, and loving dog her family adores. She has become a cherished member of her neighborhood, making furry friends everywhere she goes and bringing joy to everyone she meets. Her family says that while they rescued Gracie, it often feels like she rescued them. Now they are asking for help so they don't have to imagine life without her. Every donation—no matter the size—helps bring Gracie one step closer to the surgery she needs. If you're unable to give, sharing her story can make a tremendous difference by helping her reach more compassionate animal lovers. Your tax-deductible donation today could help save Gracie's life. Thank you for being part of Gracie's journey and for giving this deserving rescue dog another chance to overcome the odds.

Deacon

Deacon is a 2 year old American Shorthair in Puyallup, WA, who needs $4,000 for Perineal Urethrostomy.

Puyallup, WA

Deacon came into our life a few years ago, from a family friend who was no longer able to care for multiple cats at once. Who we thought was a new pet, quickly became an unforgettable member of the family. As our first baby, he has been by my side for my entire pregnancy, and thinks that all of our baby supplies are for him! In four weeks, he hopefully will get to meet our new baby. Deacon has a very common problem for cats, which is a urinary obstruction. We only could afford an outpatient procedure where they remove his previous blockage, but now if it returns we will not be able to afford surgery for him. I am setting this up preemptively because I can’t bare the thought of losing him, he is such an amazing, innocent boy and I need to make sure that he’s okay. Deacon loves his rat toys, and will have battles where he tears through the apartment with them. is very attached to both my husband and I, and sees us as “mom and dad”. He especially adores my husband, who he greets every time he can even hear his van pull up outside the apartment. He also pressing himself in between our pillows at night, to be as close to us as possible. He is so special to us. We are expecting a baby in 4 weeks. I have spent most of my pregnancy hospitalized, which has made funds far tighter than we had ever saved up for them to be. It would mean the world to me to ensure that Deacon will be able to meet our baby girl. He means the world to us.

Easton

Easton is a 12 year old English Cocker Spaniel in Ram, ON, who needs $3,500 for Enucleation.

Ram

I got Easton, well I saved Easton. He was in a basement locked in a cage his whole life, in the dark. He had no love in his life, until he met me. He's in the ladder years of his life, he is definitely living his golden years but has the same energy of that of a puppy, always on a mission, he loves me, absolutely loves me. He finally got a taste of love and living the life of a dog. Since those days in the darkness, dirty cage rolling in his own feces, trying to scratch his eyes ( he has bad tear ducts, his one eyes is now badly hurt ) he's on his way to the Bracebridge Animal Hospital. I'm moving and all my money is going to finding a place that is pet friendly. My poor boy is missing me because I am not home, I'm away getting the help I need to we can live a better life. My best friend is my dog Easton and I'm his everything. From the moment I said him he's been my everything. I do anything I can for him. I'm moving from my mom's (she an addict ) and all my money is going to an apt. that is pet friend. He doesn't trust many, he stays by my side. He is sooo friendly, he smiles even! I saved him and he shows me that unconditional love and I show him. He deserves it I come from a family of addicts, who can't help me, I'm away for treatment but when I get out I'm moving to a pet friendly place a nice place for us. Easton deserves peace. He deserves love and his eyes are hurting him, although he doesn't show it, he's suffering.

Prince

Prince is a 9 year old Beagle in Brooks, KY, who needs $500 for Tumor Removal, Dental Cleaning/Extractions, and Bloodwork.

Brooks, KY

MY name is Richard.I live on a fixed disability income of $1,356 a month, which covers all of my living expenses. Because funds are incredibly tight, my best friend and companion, Prince, is my absolute world. While she isn't an officially certified service animal, Prince is my emotional support dog. She helps me navigate the daily challenges of anxiety and PTSD. I would be completely lost without her. Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters, I wanted to take a moment to give you all a quick update on my sweet beagle and where we are in our journey to get their oral tumor removed. The great news is that we have a bit of breathing room. While the tumor definitely needs to come out, our vet has assured us that we have a little time to plan and prepare. My pup is currently stable, resting Prince the beagle absolutely adores her family and the team at Shepherdsville Animal Hospital. Since she was a puppy, she has brought pure joy to her home with comforting nudges and a wagging tail. While most dogs dread the vet, Prince treats Shepherdsville like a second home. She considers every nurse and doctor a best friend, eagerly greeting them with thumping tail wags and sweet affection. Living on a fixed income means managing a tight, unchanging budget, which makes unexpected costs incredibly stressful. My beagle, Prince, is my anchor. She provides constant emotional support, grounding me during severe PTSD episodes and calming my daily anxiety just by bein

Clyde

Clyde is a 2 year old Old English Bulldog in Rohnert Park, CA, who needs $2,800 for Urethropexy.

Rohnert Park, CA

Clyde came from a backyard breeder rescue. He’s been my baby ever since I was given the opportunity to be his mom when he was 3 months old. He is the happiest, sweetest, most funny guy in my world. He will make anyone smile and makes anyone’s day. Clyde has insurance but sadly it was maxed out when he first needed a prolapsed urethra surgery. Now, less than a year later, we are in the same spot. Clyde originally had his prolapsed urethra surgery at TruVet in Petaluma CA. He is currently spending the night in the VCA emergency hospital in Santa Rosa CA. We are unsure who is going to do the surgery as for both emergency hospitals’ specialists are out until Tuesday (today is Sunday) so we are praying to make something happen before then. Clyde makes friends with anyone who will look at him. Cat, dog, human, human baby, cow it doesn’t matter he loves them all. He’s also so funny, the looks he gives you, the weird things he does, and his snoring. He has made not dog people love him, his nickname is chicken, and he loves people watching. Clyde is the reason I go to work, the reason I stay sober, and the reason I’m alive. When my ex left us I was stuck in a rental agreement I could not afford and was putting rent on a credit card to stay housed. It wasn’t until this last month I became caught up and his insurance is maxed out from last time. So there’s no extra money after this night in ER.
