Gunnar

Gunnar is a 8-year-old Doberman in Crossville, TN, who needs $2,000 for Mast Cell Tumor Removal.

Crossville, TN

Gunnar came into our lives on St. Patrick's Day of 2016. He was 7 months old at the time and an acquaintance was attempting to rehome him. We jumped at the chance to adopt this beautiful boy and he's done nothing but enhance our lives and fill our home with love ever since. Gunnar is the best good boy anyone could ever ask for. He is so smart, and so loving, and so gentle and calm. He is the best brother to his fur-sister, Bella. They love to play and run on the trails beside our house. His favorite thing to do is to snuggle up with his dad every evening when he gets home from work. Gunnar loves to run and play. He loves to "talk" to other dogs that pass by our house, and he loves to "sing" about his favorite fur friends when their names are mentioned, or when he sees them. He loves chicken and cheese and his daily dog treats, and he loves to go "bye bye" for car rides. In February 2024 Gunnar was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on his neck. The vet assured us surgery is the only option. The surgery to remove the tumor, and additional medications, will cost around $2300 to $2500. With the current state of the economy, and after struggling financially after Covid, we simply do not have the financial ability to provide this surgery on our own. We would give anything to have Gunnar back to his old playful self and free from pain again.

Photo of Nova

Nova

Nova is a 5-year-old Pitbull in Frederick, MD, who needs $2,000 for TPLO Surgery.

Frederick, MD

In the beginning of October 2020, my brother sent me a picture of a dog and said "My friend needs to give her away due to living situations. Can you take her? I immediately said "Yes!" Growing up I was terrified of Pit Bulls, but I knew in my heart by looking at her picture that she was the sweetest dog EVER! On 10/15/2020, Nova joined my family:) Nova was the missing piece to my puzzle - she was made just for me! She sleeps with me every night. She loves her treats (plus more!), she loves going to the dog park, playing with toys, watching tv, being lazy, she loves to give a bunch of kisses, she loves EVERYONE! She interacts with everyone very well whether it be other pets (cat or dog) and people. She REALLY loves babies! There is never a sad day in my household because Nova always makes things better. Every morning I wake up I look forward to seeing her face staring at me ready to go outside! Our favorite activity is when my bedroom door is closed she knocks on it with her nose a few times until I answer it. I open the door and say "what's up?!" and she takes off! She does this for about 10-15 minutes. On January 28th, my baby and I woke up and took a morning walk like normal. I cleaned up around the house and then we both took a nap. I woke up and noticed her back left hind leg was lame. I immediately rushed her to the emergency room. They told me she has a CCL tear. I decided to take her to Buckeystown Veterinary Hospital and they told me TPLO surgery is needed. This was so unexpected and not something I wanted for my baby. It is $4703 and a major expense that I am not able to afford. It would mean the world to me to get my girl the care she needs. I'm looking forward to the day when Nova outruns me at the dog park again.

Lucky

Lucky is a 2-year-old Shitzu Mix in Cicero, IL, who needs $2,000 for Gastrointestinal/Salivary Issues that Constantly Irritate his Throat and Put his Breathing at Risk.

Cicero, IL

I rescued Lucky form the streets of Chicago. He is a Shitzu Mix and lives with me alone in the suburbs. I am a senior Veteran and Lucky is my best companion asI live alone. I have limited income resources and will require additional funding to sustain his medical care which I manage on my own with social security as my main source of income. Living alone with Lucky provides me with a reliable companion in my senior years. We both have chronic health issues and without him I would face medical challenges on my own. With Lucky I can see how his quality of life is enhanced with his monthly medical treatments and restores him to a healthy and loving pet and companion. Lucky has a proud little peppy strut he exhibits as he walks. He like to wake me from my nap when it's time for his feeding. He knows which buttons to push to ask for affection or when he's under stress from his re-occurring health conditions. Lucky has required medical attention since the day I rescued him. One clinic has already exhausted all their treatment options for his gastrointestinal/salivary issues that constantly irritate his throat and put his breathing at risk. He is currently seen by MedVet where he has had two emergency procedures to clear his airway. The veterinary team is sustaining him as long as I can sustain his life. I am a Vietnam Era Veteran and senior citizen who lives on social security as my main source of income. Having Lucky's health managed with his monthly meds and treatments provide me with a loving and cheerful pet that brings me joy and companionship more than I hope for.

Smokey

Smokey is a 6 month old Mix-Breed in Portage, IN, who needs $2,000 for Nasal passage C/T scan, scope, and surgery.

Portage, IN • Hagrid's Hope Cat Rescue

Smokey, a 6-month-old kitten, was brought to Hagrid's Hope Cat Rescue this summer with his 4 siblings. Smokey struggles to breathe. When he's sleeping he snores and snorts, and sometimes seems like he will stop breathing. His throat and chest cave in with each breath. His foster family has to keep him propped up when he sleeps and provide a humidifier and nebulizer. Smokey needs to have a C/T scan, nasal scope, and surgery in his nasal passage. Local vets do not have the specialized and tiny equipment needed for such a small kitten, and have referred him to the Purdue Small Animal Hospital. Smokey is scheduled to see a specialist Dec 11. The the cost will be $3,000 -$4,000 for the tests and surgery. Smokey is a sweet little guy who loves to be held, and loves to be with the other cats in the foster family’s home. His foster family wants very much to adopt him. Our rescue is trying to get him healthy so that he can live a happy life in his forever home. Hagrid's Hope Cat Rescue struggles to house, feed, and provide medical care for all of our cats and kittens. This extra cost for tests and surgery is not in our budget. Yet Smokey desperately needs this care to survive. 4/25/26 Update: Smokey Update - Adopted and Living a Good Life Smokey has recovered from his surgery and is doing well. He just snores a bit when he's sleeping, but otherwise his nasal passages are clear and he can breathe easily. Smokey's foster family, who took such good care of him, have adopted him. Smokey now has a loving forever home, and a healthy future to look forward to. Thank you to all who donated toward the cost of his surgery.

Greg

Greg is a 5 year old American Shorthair in Eugene , OR, who needs $2,000 for Multiple Bladder Stone Removal.

Eugene, OR

Greg has been with me since he was 8 weeks old. A family needed to find homes for a litter and he’s been my best friend ever since. He has followed me around his whole life, being the perfect companion. He has had a few cat friends but as much as our family pups would love it, he’s not a fan of them lol. He loves to watch birds and squirrels through the window while he warms up in the sun. Greg was taken to Wilvet South emergency clinic in Springfield OR. He was diagnosed with 3 bladder stones that need immediate removal to save his life. Without it he’s at risk for another obstruction that is immediately life threatening, and costly. This surgery will give him a new start, the danger will be gone and on his new prescription diet he should be bladder stone free hopefully for life. Greg is such a talker. He will have conversations with you for hours if you would let him. I have worked with rescues in the past and he was an amazing foster brother. He’s sweet, and gentle and loves to play fetch like a dog. He is sensitive to emotions and always willing to offer a cuddle when he thinks you’re sad. He has saved my life more than once by just existing. He is my whole world. Greg is my everything. I didn’t have the best childhood and have no plans to have children. He’s my ESA and I would be lost without him. I can’t afford to save his life and it’s breaking me. Life’s rough for everyone, we are all struggling. I can’t lose my best friend.

British

British is a 4-month-old Miniature Poodle in Hampton, VA, who needs $2,000 for Surgery for Metatarsal Fractures.

Hampton, VA

Our puppy was born 11/12/24. We work with a family friendly breeder to purchase her and we watched her throughout her birth journey. We brought her home Christmas Eve. We love her dearly. She lives at a home with a big yard and plenty of love. British loves to play fetch, chase feet and give lots of love. She is the only pet in our home. She is snuggled often by her human brother and sister whom are in the home during the day participating in schooling. She has a structured routine of outdoor play, feeding, sleeping, cuddling, walks and more. She is a joy in our family. She came to our home at a time where we needed a pick me up the most. She has lit up everyday since. I treat her like one of my own human babies and her siblings treat her the same. She loves to playfully nip at your toys, fall asleep on my husbands lap as he plays the Xbox, she loves riding in the car and she loves walks with mommy On 3/15/24 on a routine walk with me. A large pit bull broke out of it home and attacked British and I. I quickly grabbed British by the leash and held her over my head in attempts to protect her. The dog was too large and was about to still jump up catching her hind legs. This dog held on to her for 20 plus minutes. As I struggled to keep her up and begged the responsible party to get their dog. We have very tight funds. Two kids in college and a limited income. British insurance will not cover accident as she’s still in a probationary window. We need to save her foot. We are desperate for help.
